Twit = This Week in Tech .. it is without a doubt the most popular podcast out there by far. One of the hosts of the show (John C. Dvorak) was looking for an Appalachian State Sweatshirt and I was able to send him one. He said he would plug our website on his blog and on the show as long as it wasn't porn :)

We will have to wait and see .. but it looks like a good chance to get a really good plug for our website and for Alizée. It will probably be even bigger than our experience with digg recently.

You can check out their website here: http://twit.tv and John's blog at http://dvorak.org/blog

I will keep everyone updated :)

update: here is a link to our plug (http://moi-alizee.us/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=235&d=1168830215)

Wow, I remember John C. Dvorak's video game reviews on the Cnet Central TV show with Richard Hart back in like... the dark ages. Full Throttle FTW! :)

BTW, make sure he knows how to pronounce Alizée! ;)

brad

he said i should work on promoting Emma Shapplin too .. lol

I included how to pronounce it in one of the emails :)

I can't wait to hear what Leo has to say about Lili .. lol. They record the shows on Sundays, so I hope it gets to him sometime this week before then. It was sent 3 day UPS so it should get there in time.

Leo Laporte hosts it? Sweet.

I used to watch The Screen Savers on Tech TV (he was one of the hosts) all the time, but then we got rid of the digital cable :/

I don't really understand the purpose of Twit. Anyone mind dumbing it down for me?

There used to be a TV channel in the USA and Canada several years ago called 'Tech TV' .. They covered everything technology (computers, gadgets, games, etc). When they closed the station down a lot of the people involved started doing their own thing.

This week in Tech is one of those projects. They basically just discuss this weeks technology news, (digg.com was founded by a former Tech TV employee also).

I listen to all of these podcasts / shows and etc at work everyday .. it helps the day go by. Like I said, Twit is easily the most popular podcast out there by quite a bit. A ton of people (hundreds of thousands) will be listening.

More like they all got fired .. lol

G4 didn't think the Tech content was interesting enough to their demographics.

G4 has grown away from technology and video games entirely, they have carp shows now.

This is pretty cool news. Still there's always this nagging part of me that, despite how much I want Alizee to be a massive success all around the world, wants to keep Alizee "our little secret" here in the US. I don't maybe I just don't trust the American public and media to give Alizee the respect she deserves given how much it feeds off of sensationalism. Plus being a fan trying to get noticed above all of her worldwide fans is already hard enough; one of the few things I have going for me is being a fan from a country that largely doesn't know her. Having to shout over a throng of American fans too will surely drown me out.

Seriously though, cool news.

That's actually what the Screen Savers turned into after the layoffs and format change.

here is the old screensavers, before it became attack of the show. kevin (the guy on the left) is the one who made digg. the other guy is the main host of this week in tech. (it is several years old now)

Man - i've just e-mailed myself the link to home (at work now) - can't WAIT to see what the rest of the Country thinks of Alizee'.

Although i agree with the previous post - its kinda nice being a fan of someone the rest of the country doesn't know about - so that they can't SCREW it up. Nope, don't trust the american entertainment media at ALL!

That is freaking awesome. I listen to TWiT all the time. It's the most popular tech podcast in iTunes and the second most popular podcast on digg (http://digg.com/podcasts).

Email him back Brad. The dude is older than the computer, and needs constant reminding.

brad

i've emailed him a couple of times, and no response. he may be waiting until after all of the macworld stuff, or maybe waiting until he receives other stuff from the other people that sent him a shirt???

i will email him again, maybe i should remind him that I have his address? lol

I listened through all of last week's show for our plug too, if we do get one this week that'd be great, they have like 3 huge tech shows between now and then and it should be one of their more important shows of the year.

brad
01-14-2007, 10:05 PM
well we finally got our plug. it wasn't very long, and he didn't spell the name out so I doubt many people will be able to find us, but it is better than nothing I guess .. :(

i cut out the part of interest, and attached it here. so if you just want to hear the plug check out the attachment. if you want to listen to the whole podcast, he mentions us at around the 42 minute mark (http://www.twit.tv/84)
