Hehe, I always figure she must have had a huge blast here, playing a drum on stage for an entire song, even if the beat was basic :-)

It's quite a drum line they have... Zazie, Alizée, Lori, Catherine Lara, Lââm, Maurane, Elsa, and Liane Foly (left to right). For those interested, the three primary singers are David Halliday (Johnny's son), Isabelle Boulay (the red head), and Patricia Kaas (the blonde). The "MC" is Muriel Robin.

Sweet! Queen, my favorite band of all time, and Alizée, my favorite woman I've never met, come together at last! Patricia Kaas (the blonde) apparently han't mastered the English n after vowels (listen to her say "man").

Try as I might, I haven't been able to find a French equivalent verb for "to rock" in the context it's used in this song :-) Heck, I have trouble properly defining it in English... it has so many meanings I think it's just one of those things that is untranslatable.

Out of the three main singers, it sounds like David is the only one fully comfortable in English (though I'd bet 10:1 the others speak some amount of it, and that nearly every single person in the concert has taken lessons). A couple of them are Canadian, and Garou actually started out as a (English) blues singer before launching to French stardom.

I never thought I'd see Alizée playing the drumbeat and singing a Queen song! The idea never entered my head until I saw this. Great stuff!

What does it mean? Reminds me "A whiter shade of pale (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0m9xosbLxY)" by Procol Harum and I never searched for the meaning! :p

Oh dear lord.

I assume you mean "A Whiter Shade of Pale," the song title?

"Une Nuance plus Blanche du Pâle," would I believe be the closest (A shade more white of pale). I'm not 100% certain on the gender to use though, as pale is an adjective, not a noun, so doesn't have one. I assumed masculine here.

In terms of the meaning, in the context of the song it is talking about a person who was already pale in the face, and who became even more pale. The line is "...and her face at first just ghostly / turned a whiter shade of pale"

I love the Sarah Brightman version of this song.

When did they recorded it?

I got my copy of the Brightman version on her 2000 album "La Luna," though she may have recorded it prior to that. The song itself is 40 or 50 years old.
