Hi everyone,

I haven't learned many (actually no) details about Alizee's marriage and I'm curious - why in Las Vegas? spontaneous while visiting? did she elope? did family attend? a civil service? Does anyone have the answers to these questions or other details? Thanks, RG

Yeah, we don't know too many details, but Jérémy did kind of mention it being a spontaneous thing in this interview: http://www.moi-alizee.us/forums/showthread.php?t=713. Also what's on the marriage certificate (date, church ceremony, etc.). But that's about it really.

Ah, that's really the big question. If you really want to send a letter just for the sake of doing so, according to the Alizée Forum FAQ it's

Alizée
c/o Polydor - Universal Music
20/22, Rue des Fossés-Saint-Jacques
F - 75005 Paris

...but it seems to be unattented in a long time, I don't think anyone has reciaved any sort of response in quite a while, and it's a Polydor address, so no promises.

You'll know, as in, know her better, once you read Moby Dick the 2nd time around... This is what I think it is even though it makes no sense still. "Ahab and the Whale become best friends" - Sounds so funny haha

Maybe there's a part in Moby Dick where 2 characters named Ahab and Whale become best friends. When you get to that part the 2nd time, you know Alizée better.

Don't knock Vegas weddings. It's not like they were married by Elvis or anything. The Excalibur is awesome and beautiful, and the chapel is the same. I said I went there for a wedding. It was a friend of my sister's, but I totally forgot that my sister was married there too (I can't believe she's been married so long I forgot! Plus I wasn't there for that one). Anyway, it was a real wedding service, and you can make it as fancy as you want with the right amount of money. Other than the fact it may have been on a whim, it's not necessarily like eloping, so at least THIS chapel in Vegas shouldn't have that stigma.

Ok, after thinking about this situation - Alizee, who lives in France, traveled all the way by plane to Las Vegas with Jeremy to be married in some small, rinky dink wedding? HUH?

But then maybe it was more of a big to-do than you'd think, after all my only reasoning for it being small and impromptu is because I hear the words "Las Vegas". And to think, they probably had to communicate with the priest and the chapel, and they don't speak English well - that being said they must have had translation services, which makes me thing that maybe it was bigger than I thought, maybe it was planned and thought by Alizee to be ---- romantic?

I don't know, what's your opinion about it? And .. not that I really want to raise this question, but do you think the baby was planned?

RadioactiveMan
05-11-2008, 11:37 PM
I don't think that translation is important. It wouldn't be super hard to figure things out. They're sure to get a lot of marriages between people who don't speak English in Vegas.

Speaking from experience???

It could have been one of these "let's not wait" type of things, and with probably just a "we have this window of time in a couple of weeks , let's go."

Pity they did not send out invitations to AA. I'm sure more than one person on this board would have made a good translator.

No direct experience here, but I just don't like how weddings sometimes lose the true meaning the bigger they get. Like Tom Cruise's last wedding, I think hundreds of A-list celebrities were invited to it....

A quick wedding in Vegas (while it may be for many reasons) is the opposite of an ego-building-attention-fest.

Yes, it was. I mean, she always said she wanted babies, at an early age, like her mother and her grandmother did. If I became cynical, i would say that Jeremy is more a father than a lover ...

The baby surely was planned because she already said in an interview (I don't remember what interview) the she had plans to be married and have a family with 20's... Maybe she just married Jeremy to have her baby with 20's and make her dream come true...

And if it is, I surely don't have anything with it....But anyways, lets keep this thread going, cuz it's cool...

In France, you must be married by the state before you can get married in a church. So, if it was a small wedding they wanted, they could've got that easily. Just go to city hall and be married by a judge. Of course you would still have to fill out all of the forms. lol

I read somewhere that the 'unofficial' state of Alizée's marriage is financially beneficial to her and Jérémy. Furthermore, I know that marriages are becoming less and less common in France, and people frequently live together and have children together outside of legal marriage. (And unfortunately they frequently leave each other and find new partners too.)

Roman

That's kind of odd. It is generally financially beneficial here to be married. Well, unless divorce perhaps. Of course Alizée and maybe also Jérémy have a bit unusual financial status, maybe. Maybe it's just easier to deal with in any case if everyone just legally maintains ownership of what they own, easier like not changing the name either.

They got married on November 6, 2003.
Unless i'm a total retard, i'm sure that's the same year they met. ;)

Just a puzzling observation... at least for me. If the couple did indeed get married in Las Vegas on the 6th of November 2003, why is she already wearing a gold wedding band during the En Concert performance, which I was led to believe took place at the Paris Olympia between 26 August and 4 September 2003. Maybe someone can cast some light ?

As reference, see the Tempête performance, which has a nice close up of the ring at about 03:03 into the clip. During Alizée's guitar routine in the En Concert performance of Moi.. Lolita, one can also see the ring quite clearly.

Thanks ! In other words - if I understand correctly - you are confirming that the marriage date was in fact 6 Nov 2003 and that the footage from the En Concert DVD is from the last show on the 17th January 2004, which would explain why she is wearing the ring. Could you also confirm whether ALL the footage from the En Concert performance was in fact filmed on that single day - 17 Jan 2004 ? (Excluding the special features, of course).

All evidence to the contrary :). If you look closely, her hair, her actions, the guitarists' actions, and other things are not at all consistent throughout the En Concert DVD. The video compiles bits and pieces from various performances in the tour with audio from one (I think?) performance.

Aah, a very interesting debate. Somewhat off topic though (considering this thread is about the marriage). I would however love to get to the bottom of this - but I guess only someone who actually was at the concert on 17 Jan, would be able to clarify things for us. I have indeed scrutinised the footage quite a bit and would dare to say that her hair does seem quite consistent throughout (considering that every time she runs off the stage for a costume change, the hair-and-make-up crew most probably also grabs hold of her and makes some alterations). The concistency of the musicians' and background vocalists' costumes, as well as the stage layout & décor etc. would also indicate that we are looking at one performance. Everytime she emerges with a new costume, you can always clearly see her leaving the stage slightly before the end of the previous song. To co-ordinate that with combined footage from various shows would be very difficult. Stuff thrown onto the stage (i.e. the American flag) can also be seen on several performances. The clincher for me though is the ring.... You can see it in every single performance - which means they can be from no other show, than the one on 17 Jan 2004. Also look out for the bracelet with pink motive (I think it's a butterfly), which you can see on her right wrist on each performance as well.

If you want proof the En Concert footage was shot on multiple nights, watch the guitarist. You'll notice him playing one guitar and then later, during the same song, he is playing a different guitar.

Only if she had her hair done during the songs.

In other words, her hair is enough proof.

I guess because of the wedding ring, Karla. The DVD is a compilation of shots from throughout her tour, with an emphasis on dates at the Paris Olympia and Zenith. The most obvious way to see this is the audience: at Olympia there was a barrier between them and the stage, while at Zenith there was none. The reason you see things like her ring in every performance is because the source of footage can literally change from shot to shot. So every song has a bit from Zenith, a bit from Olympia, etc. (the audio is also a mix). Incidentally, this is how all Mylene Farmer DVDs are produced as well. But yes, this is getting off-topic.

Well staring at the album that closely to notice that detail might not help your plea for sanity. However not wearing a wedding ring in this case might not prove anything. She might simply be trying to give off the illusion of being single. Makes people want her more.

I'm going to have to go back and re-watch En Concert because it seems like she goes through a lot of outfit changes with very little time. Maybe I'm the one going insane now. LOL
