Yeah to give them their credit they definitely did a lot of things right. Alizee was only 15-16 there so it was probably a phase.

There are many people who have lived under really grim conditions and despite that turned out very humble and caring. I actually agree with you that we're in large part influenced by our genes when it comes to things like temperament and even intelligence. However, environmental factors matter a lot as well. And while it's true for example that some things that break one person only make the next person stronger (which seems to indicate the dominant influence of our genes) there are influences that are so strong that they can transform anyone for better or worse (trauma, love etc.).
The nature vs. nurture debate is far from over but I think it's safe to say that you can't replicate Alizée by cloning her. The knowledge that she is a clone alone would make her a different person.

Again we're pretty much in agreement. However, I think strong AI will happen sooner than most people think. I would be surprised if we hadn't gotten there by 2050. If necessary we'll "just" reverse engineer the human brain. There is actually an ongoing effort at the ETH in Lausanne, Switzerland (Blue Brain) to do just that. They're starting with a very small basic building block of neural architecture, then work their way up to a complete rat brain and within ten years or so (their estimate) they'll simulate an entire human brain at the sub-neuronal level. Very exciting stuff.
Until then why not interact with other humans and have them show up in virtual reality the way you want them to see?

Personally, if you can experience before actual experience, it is somewhat wonderful.
Say you don't have enough money to travel to say, Japan.
Have a little trial and walkthrough of a certain area and see if it really is worth saving up for.

Sometimes I think about something one of the members of ABBA said when he explained why they turned down a reported $1B offer to reunite and tour--he pointed out that people really didn't want to see a group of 60-year-olds sing the old songs and pretend nothing had changed in the last 30 years; what they really wanted was to go back in time to 1979 and watch them slide into some sequined polyester and be at their prime again. That's probably 100% true. What would be a better night's entertainment: seeing a really tight Beatles tribute band pay homage to the glory years, or watching the two remaining fossles wheel out on stage and act as if they'd just laid down Sgt. Peppers? (Indeed, the original ABBA guys have long told their rabid fans to just go see Bjorn Again.)

Ok, just read on alizee-mexico (where I noticed the pic) that the pic is from 2003, and some people say that they think she isn't Alizee, is just a girl making a cover of JPVA. But she really looks like Lilly.

I think it is Alizee because she is doing her little nose scrunch that she does.

Yeah, when I initially saw the picture, I had doubts as to whether it was actually her (something around the eyes seemed awry), but upon closer inspection, I decided it had to be her. The smile, the nose, the facial structure all checked out. Unless Lili has an identical twin that has somehow escaped the prying eyes of the public, this is a lost Alizée performance :eek:. But we can't be sure until a certain Finn sheds some light on this most intriguing of mysteries :p.

2:20 I thought she was doing the electric slide for a moment. It also looks like it hurts her to do this. She has a face on that says to me "wow this hurts."

dang, you guys are harsh. Imagine some (unenlightened :p) person saying that stuff about Alizée. I think it was a real compliment to Alizée that she tried and they even went as elaborate as they did with all the backup dancers and everything. Though I would say that she needed them to make that rather restrained performance more interesting.

(and we have now quite digressed on the subject of something that happened a long time ago - though considering it's about something we've apparently not seen before is kind of on topic)
