View Full Version : Alizee #1 in Mexico
Following on the Alizee TV channel in Mexico, the DVD is now also number one there (it was recently released):
http://www.mixup.com.mx/mixup/subdept_portada.asp?subdept_id=53000
Is it me or is the amount of Alizee buzz increasing dramatically? Ternuc's J'en ai Marre remix (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8683536703590795617) has been in the Google Video top 100 for months (it's the 187th most viewed video ever on Google Video)...
Hopefully her french record label is aware of her international popularity and are doing everything they can to organise an international launch (could this be one of the reasons for the endless delays, that they were planning a Europe-only launch and have revised their plans???)
Another thing I've noticed is that Alizee's Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliz%C3%A9e) is now available in over 25 languages (including English)... Coldplay's article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coldplay) has 28... If her third album could approach the international popularity of a band like Coldplay that would be absolutely phenomenal.
Thanks for all information Jaco. Indeed it seems she is more popular than ever internationally. Let's hope the record companies will finally notice it too and produce her third album.
i like that theory Jaco :)

if all that is true then all the record companies in the world are very very stupid.
but if a company is still planning for perfection then i can wait.

Personally I'm holding out a wild shred of hope that we'll see her on Tuesday. The M6 20th anniversary blurb, other than specifically mentioning that they'll show her first ever appearance from Graines de Stars, also said it would have visits from piles of artists who got their start on M6. Suffice to say, Alizée got her start there.

Hi
I'm new. I watched her this past whole weekend on SkyTv, even burnt immediately a video clip of 'J'en ai marre'from the web-so I can see her whenever I want on my TV. She's great, fascinating...some dancing she does!!! it's the first time I've ever seen her. I read about Alizée=means 'wind'. More a less something like this?? (cause there are 2 winds):
wind 1 (o)
wind 2 )o(
P.s.: I've always felt a special admiration for french people. Lived 6 months in Paris many, many years ago 'before your mother was born' as the Beatles say. I like a lot Cat Stevens a song of his called 'The wind'...goes more a less like this 'I listen to the wind/to the wind of my soul'.

God I would just be SO happy if she comes out with her new CD sometime in the future xD.
I sometimes wonder if Alizée thought that maybe a few years off would let her first star appeal dwindle while she re-energizes a "new" twenty-something theme. The year 2007 comes around, she takes a look around and discovers her first star appeal has not dwindled, but instead is still burning brightly and even growing in intensity.
What would she do? Accept the fact her first star appeal is still there, and develop a complimentary theme......or does she desire to move on from the first star and develop a contrary theme? There is a bit of apprehension in that regardless of which track she chooses, she will be competing (or at a minimum, compared) with her first star self.
Think about it. You're busting your butt in studio to develop a song that will appeal to your fans and you keep hearing that songs you sung three and four years ago are "popping" the charts all around the world. On the one hand, it would be flattering. On the other hand,it puts that much more pressure on your current effort.

That's some good analysis Ogre. I never thought about that. That would be a good reason to delay the album.
Another thing I've noticed is that Alizee's Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliz%C3%A9e) is now available in over 25 languages (including English)...
Actually it's 24 (including English),
but i hope it'll be 25 soon and perhaps, in my native language :)

I'm not sure what you're implying with your "wind" reference, but I love the "beatles - before your mother was born" reference :)

Bitch :) You're correct though, I just recounted... still, that's still a remarkable number for a French musician... I doubt any other contempary artist comes close.
Also, OGRE's analysis is interesting and I'm sure has some truth to it... There's no way Alizee could have anticipated her popularity on the Internet...

Thanks to you both. Saludos!!
P.s.: Hope you don't mind me having written in spanish.

Well, the Beatles reference I'm not that old-aged, but the 'Wind' reference is something else...is Cat Stevens' as I told you.
P.s.: A french friend of mine was called as the Beatles' song too: 'Michelle'.

Hi
I'm here again. Once again, hope you don't mind if this is (partly) written in spanish. A spanish forum shall appear someday(if there's any problem please tell me):
...poema está hecho de aire (Pound: I made it out of a mouthful of air).
iris animados, pueblan,
adornan, vanos volantes;
pues soy Eolo, del Viento,
diáfana Deidad vagante,
para quien son sus imperios
firmes, aunque son instables:
viendo, que de mejor Sol
el nacimiento se aplaude,
quiero ser el que primero
convoque, congregue y llame
las canoras moradoras
de sus puras raridades,
para que en dulces motetes,
para que en diestros discantes,
para que en trinos acordes
y en mensurados compases,
de su volante Capilla
haciendo armonioso alarde,
su misma región admiren,
al Viento, que habitan, paren,
suspendiendo con los ecos
al que con las alas baten,
aplaudiendo su venida,
pues no será nuevo darle
las norabuenas al Sol
la Capilla de las Aves:
porque al ver en el Oriente
sus resplandores brillantes,
¡trinen, trinen, trinen süaves!
CORO I

Days that haunt the poem's single day
are like the air revisiting this house
of vocables that you and I designed:
its windows watch an ocean and a sky
to learn what portion of the other's mind
the jet-trails presage: letters are stones that fly
to settle in a wall of which the line
traces an hour, a where, a place of thought.
What is more palpable, the thing we saw
or the images its recollection brought
into the mind to ask us what we are?
Friendship is more palpable than both,
the day that founded it, and time its confirmation:
we go and stay, knowing in that pulsation
we are the measure of its music flowing.
It's from a book by Octavio Paz and Charles Tomlinson entitled 'Los hijos del aire' 'Air born' the name Alizée=wind recalled me.

Aeolus (ē’ə ləs), in Greek mythology, king of the island of Aeolia and ruler of the winds. In Homer's Odyssey, Aeolus is regarded as a human, the son of Hippotes. He helps Odysseus on his homeward journey by giving him a sack in which all unfavourable winds are enclosed. Virgil represents Aeolus as a minor god who holds the winds imprisoned in a cavern. He releases them when ordered to do so by the other gods.

Boreas(bô'ri əs), in Greek mythology, the personification of the north wind. He was the son of Aeolus, ruler of the winds. Boreas fell in love with the nymph Orithyia, but his roughness and violence displeased her. He finally carried her away and married her. Boreas helped the Athenians during the Persian War by destroying the ships of the invading Persians. Several Greek festivals were established to honour him. In classical art, Boreas is represented as a winged, bearded man blowing a conch shell.

From Wikipedia:
Trade Winds: "Among the most well known trade winds is the alizé (sometimes alize), a steady, mild northeasterly wind which blows across central Africa and the Caribbean. It brings cool temperatures between November and February"
Alizée is the feminine form of Alizé.
They say the alizé brings cool temperatures, but for some reason the Alizée is always hot.
