Alizée's Carbon Emissions Contribution

First off, please do not use this thread for Global Warming political commentary; there are thousands of other places on the net to argue the point.

Let CEn = the CO2 emissions of typical person under normal respiratory conditions. The Alizée "effect", at first, causes an increase heart rate, followed by an increase in respiration, which results in an increased CO2 ouput. If we call this Alizée Effect on resperation "AEi", as a scale factor for the resulting CO2 emissions, we can write the new CO2 emission (CEAEi) as follows:

CEAEi = AEi * CEn

This leaves the NET INCREASE in CO2 output, per person (call it NICO2):

NICO2 = CEAEi - CEn.

Let m equal the number of persons (globally) who actually experience the Alizee Effect, and we have the following GLOBAL NET INCREASE in CO2 emissions due to the Alizee effect:

NI = m*NICO2

However, this doesn't tell the complete story. As you know, Alizée also has many songs with a calming effect on respiration. We will call this the Alizee "calming" effect, or AEc, for short. Now we can write (using subscript CEAEc being calming emissions and NDCO2 being net decrease in emissions):

CEAEc = AEc * CEn

NDCO2 = CEn - CEAEc

And assuming the same number of folks are affected by both effects, we have the net decrease represented by:

ND = m*NDCO2

So the total Alizee carbon emissions profile can be reduced to the following equation:

NT = m *(NI - ND)

And if we assume the NICO2 is approximately equal to NDCO2, the NI and ND are roughtly equal, resulting in the parenthetical becoming zero:

NT = m * (0)

NT = 0

And there you have it. The Alizée effect is Carbon Neutral.

Interesting hypothesis, but I think you have left out an important factor in your calculations: the carbon emissions created as a result of generating power that is used by computers and media equipment (TVs, DVD players, etc.) to play Alizée videos and music repeatedly by Alizée fans. I think this effect far out stretches the effect on respiration in scale and gives Alizée quite a large carbon footprint afterall :p

Yep, been heating up....and cooling down....heating up....and cooling down..... for millions of years. Looks like we're in for a heat wave this time.

But dammit, I'm going to miss it. I'll be dead before it gets here. Or, maybe not. I figure if I can convince myself and enough Americans to work at establishing a Carbon footprint at least on par with Al Gore, maybe....just maybe...we can do enough to get our day in the sun before we die.

I'll buy the biggest gas guzzling SUV I can find. For those long trips, I'll charter a jet that can also carry my SUV. I'll rival most of the "Carbon conscious" movie stars in my zeal for Carbon footprint equality.

Geez, just thinking about it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.
