I wasn't sure if this should go in Apprendre le français so I'm putting it here to be safe.

For those people like me learing to read was very hard (I was in special education for secveral years) one thing I remember from that was playing "games" on the computer designed to teach reading/spelling to k-6th grade students. I was thinking... if it worked so well for learning my native toung it MUST be a great way for me to learn French too! ... problem is liveing in the US trying to find software like that is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. So for any of you who live in French speacking places (garcon maybe?) can you give me any hints on where I might be able to get software like that?

I remember a math one called Mathblaster... maybe a french equivinant?

Thanks for your time and any help!

Rosetta Stone (http://www.amazon.com/Rosetta-Stone-French-Level-Personal/dp/B00004YUGM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/002-8284463-7228811?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1175465359&sr=8-2) is kind of like you are talking about. It is expensive, but it is supposed to work really well. I know a girl that used the Spanish version and had great success.

I have found Instant Immersion French Deluxe V2.0 to be very good. I hear it's not quite as good as Rosetta Stone, but it is a solid teaching tool using similar association concepts to the one's used to teach youngsters in their native tongue. You get 300 hours of instruction (basic, intermediate, and advanced) for about $40.00. An equivalent level of instruction with Rosetta Stone will run you several hundreds of dollars.

those both look pretty good, but I'm more looking for something to teach French to French people... not French to english. I'd love to just go to the French equivilant of EB/Game Stop and look over they're children's education section... But I can't really afford a trip to France right now :(

Thanks again!

EDIT: I knoe some of you might think it silly for a 22 year old to be excited about something like THIS (http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0001WAHSW/sr=1-8/qid=1175892724/ref=olp_product_details/402-8048187-2458544?ie=UTF8&qid=1175892724&sr=1-8&seller=), but this is what I was talking about in the first post. This was how I learned to read in English... so i figure it's gotta be good for learning how to read in French!
