If this was put out on April 1st I would have assumed it was a joke, but the 15cm plus (6 inches) of snow on the car proved otherwise, at least it wasn't the 30cm we were supposed to get. Normally 15 cm wouldn't be a big deal but the fact that it is April and Spring, and that we had one of the mildest Winters on record, some people might have already changed to their summer tires. And having driven in snow with summer tires when we got weather like this a few years at the end of April was not fun, you go into the club with everything nice and looking like Spring and when you come out and it looks like Christmas. Ah well, I have actually seen it snow here during the first weeks of May, and was just curious if anybody else lives where they can expect winter storm warnings this time of year.

Local forecast, more snow...

It doesn't ever snow here in Sydney. However, go south a bit and you hit the Snowy Mountains. It snows there sometimes in late october (2nd half of spring).

Supa how far south? I'm in Wollongong (Shell Harbour)

SupaKrupa

South-west past Canberra ? So something like 400-500km south-west of Sydney towards the Victorian border. Less from Wollongong I guess.

It snowed here in new jersey today, pretty surprising considering the 78 degree weather last week.

Wollongong is in Australia, your seasons are reversed so for you April is in the Fall and Winter is on its way, is it not? Around here usually for most parts of the country April doesn't look like this, sorry I didn't have a chance to go somewhere more scenic, this was just what it was like outside when I got up today, the snow is still accumulating.

I guess I was just annoyed because it had been really warm the last few weeks and it is kind of a tease when you get the warm weather for a few days and then it goes away for at least another couple of weeks. But I don't really mind it a fresh layer of snow gives you a chance to get out one last time before you have to put away all your Winter activities for the Summer, and since this is the Easter long weekend I'm sure I am not going to be the only one.

Here in Minnesota it's pretty much the same thing. A week ago it hit 80°F and then the other day we got snow and it's now 19°F. Minnesota has some pretty wild temperature swings. Our all time record high is 114°F and all time record low is somewhere around -60°F. In any given year the temperature difference from highest to lowest can be around 110°.

Yeah, we got some of that snow down here in Halifax too, around 30cm I believe, on Friday. It did make driving conditions quite fun though :D

Its snowing right now in Upstate NY (Ithaca). I'm at working wondering if we're going to have to call the Grounds guys in to salt the road - we'll see. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ready for spring.

But, like Alizée, spring will get here when it gets here!:p

Ya'll don't worry about that snow, now. I've been trying real hard to double my Carbon footprint. If we all work together to double our output we can show all those Climate morons it really doesn't matter much.

Well, let me put it this way:

10.5 yrs in the Navy - I've been to all of W. Europe (except Norway)
some of the middle east, Japan, Guam and Australia.

I was stationed in Charleston, Norfolk, Washington DC,
Newport RI, Chicago and Virginia Beach.

New York is where i came "home" to. Yeah, its cold in the
winter, and yeah, its hot and muggy in the summer - but it is
beutifull here! Because of Cornell and Ithaca College, there are
about 35 to 50K extra residents here in the school year. We
have Arts, Theater and the Wine Trails around the Finger Lakes.
All kinds of stuff. Yeah, I guess you could say I "like" it! ;)

Twitch, you got snow... check out the flood around my house. These pictures were taken ~1/3 mi. from my house.

Man that sucks, floods make a hell of a mess, if the ice jams in the spring the rivers around here can flood the lower lying areas, but people don't build there just in case. Was it just the road or were there house that got hit too?

Hmm it snowed on Christmas day in Melbourne last year... I think it was some sort of joke someone played. Must've been something like those snow making machines they use on the slopes... but we're talking the middle of summer and ON Christmas day of all days.

mostly just the road that follows the river, but some low-lying houses near the river were flooded-out pretty badly.
