alizee in the US/UK for the third album???

this could be a possibility because her recording company is polydor records, meaning that they're likely to promote in the US or the UK.

what does everyone else here think?

I think you're behind the times, because Polydor is no longer her label.

However, you could be right just the same.

Polydor was her label for the first couple albums already. Nobody knows what the label for her third will be.

however, i'm surprised that someone working in her current recording label company hasn't leaked any information (not even acknowledging that alizee is working with them).

If there are no English versions of her songs when her new stuff comes out I'd say no. If there are, I'd say there is a very remote possibility.

alizee released a CD/DVD combo in 2007 in mexico (of her previous work) and the recording label was universal music group (whose parent company is vivendi, based in paris france).

so could it be that vivendi might be the recording label company?

alizee is mentioned here as a featured artist (past or current status is not known): http://new.umusic.com/Artists.aspx?Index=1

These multinational record companies have many layers and subsidiaries. Their reach is international in scope and they can more or less release anything they want wherever they want. As long as it fits their marketing strategy. On her previous CD's you will see the Universal and Polydor logos.

By the way, I find it interesting that MF/LB have all the songs from MCE registered with ASCAP. Did they do this when it was first released just in case they might have Alizée come to the USA?

Didn't they say her new record label was Mercury? which is eventually from Universal?

I've seen interviews in which Alizée expressed an interest in singing here and breaking into the U.S. audience, but seemed not to consider that feasible. I am totally and absolutely convinced that she was wrong about that. :D

Now that she's older and, I would hope, has more confidence, maybe she'll understand this:

No matter where she goes, the audience will consist of people, and so she will be loved. The only thing that can stop her from being a success anywhere in the world, including America, is if she does not try.

Of course, having some (not all) of the new songs be in English can make that easier by providing a "hook" to draw people in for the rest of the material. But hey, when I first started listening to her, I understood hardly a word, and still I loved her music. That was my initial motivation to learn French, although I've found others since.

Bottom line: It's doable, and she should do it.

I agree with you Deepwaters. It's easy (and even a little arrogant) of us to think that our small group of US fans are the only ones in our country capable of understanding and appreciating Alizée. Expose her to 300 million people and I think a substantial number would find themselves adoring her the way we do.

Yeah, she most likely will go to England. She always liked it in the past, too.
