View Full Version : Alizee marketing blitz in USA proposed

Matrix

Since Alizee was never marketed here in USA, only by word of mouth and the internet, courtesy of Youtube, Google Video and others, is she being discovered here in the USA, and her popularity is getting larger and larger and larger in USA. It's frightening to think of the untapped profits slipping through everyones hands!

Alizee is a gold mine waiting to be tapped here in United States I believe. The potential profits are staggering. An enterprising person or company could make huge amounts of money off the Alizee name. My only concerns are copyright infringements on her name and Polydor and Universal.

Is the Alizee name even copyrighted? Since the powers that be did not or refused to market Alizee here in USA, why can't someone else step in and do it? It's a gold vein just staring at everyone yet nobody is taking advantage here in the USA. Well, Brad is in a small way.

I propose a USA nationwide Alizee advertsing blitz using $3 million dollars of my own money to start off with. Commercial spots, posters, sporting events and others to get the ball rolling.

Monday night football on ESPN would be a great place to promote her next album and introduce the american public to Alizee in a big way. I'm gonna make some phone calls and get the wheels turning.

I'll talk to a copyright lawyer and find out a few things. Stay tuned...

I wonder in reality how much the fans on this forum could do if we all were to organize and make some calls to local radio/tv stations, post links to her all over, etc.

We just need to introduce Alizee to as many people as possible and really make some noise in the states...so much noise that she can hear us from Paris. She's too good of a thing to be just available in Europe once again. Hope she reconsiders her options for touring a bit.

As for Matrix, spare no expense and spend that money!!! We're talking about our girl here. :D

Well, i talked to a copyright lawyer and he said dont even think about it. He gave me some mumbo jumbo about celebrity Publicity Rights laws on the books, you need permission from the celebrity to use their name, image, voice etc... he said celebrities in USA sue all the time over this crap.

In California, even after the celebrity has died, you gotta wait 50 years before you can use their image, name, voice etc...under this new publicity rights law, unless you get permission from the celebritys family.

If I went ahead and advertised Alizee on my own, she could sue me if she felt it defamed her, or caused her celebrity status to be "lowered" or if she felt any exploitation that was disagreeable.

Now, internet publicity rights laws is another ball game, talk to Google about that one, lol

Alizee is a celebrity that lives in France but I have no doubt there are Publicity Rights laws overseas as well.

If anyone wants to pursue this, here is the link to mobile billboards in Las Vegas, just make sure you get a contract with the Alizee team first or you will infringe on her Publicity Rights!

http://mobilebillboardsoflasvegas.com/

Im currently putting my own money into campaign elections here in Vegas helping the sheriff get elected and also for this november elections, so I wont be able to pursue this.

Actually to have Alizee sue you, would that be all bad? lol Might get to meet her in court. Then you could approach her and say, " Alizee lets do lunch and settle this outta court" lol:p

Wow, i made this post a looong time ago.

I'm sure the powers that be in the music industry here in America know all about Alizée, don't you think? Surely they have heard of her years ago and just blew her off.

Well wait, maybe the american music industry did approach the Alizée team but as we all know now, she rejected their offers obviously because Alizée has said in interviews she doesn't want to come to the USA.

Maybe an attempt was made to get her over here and market her. Hmmm.. interesting

I mean Alizée wouldn't even come to the USA and do a commercial like she did in Japan. No doubt someone here in america approaced her wanting her to promote a product, no doubt.

I completely understand Alizee's reasons for not wanting to deal with the American music industry and media. It would be nice, however, during the promotion of here third album if she could sorta give a shout out to all of her American fans.

aFrenchie that is a frightening observation, a few thousand? omg.. I mean if you are right about that, then the united states has very bad taste or just is still not informed about Alizée

I would like to think that Alizée has at least a million fans here in america. Anyone else think I am waaay off on that?

1 Million? Wow. Hell no.

Maybe 500 000 (maybe!) have heard of her, almost entirely due to WoW, and probably a fan amount in the tens of thousands.. And that's being generous.

I don't mind so much about there not being a throng of Alizee fans in the United States. She has enuogh popularity around the world for her to be well-paid and for her to know how amazing she is. There are lines from the movie "As Good As It Gets" that I think some up my feelings on the matter pretty well:

"I might be the only person on the face of the Earth that knows you're the greatest woman on Earth. I might be the only one who appreciates how amazing you are in every single thing that you do... in every single thought that you have and how you say what you mean and how you almost mean something that's all about being straight and good. I think most people miss that about you. And I watch them wondering how they can watch you... and never get that they just met the greatest woman alive. And the fact that I get it makes me feel good, about me."

Now I'm not trying to be so arrogant as to claim to be the greatest Alizee fan of all time... I sincerely hope that that is Jeremy. Still, being one of a few Americans that knows about, and fully appreciates, Alizee makes me feel good about me.

I'm fully content with the notion that the only Americans that really know about her are the kind of people we have here that can fully appreciate Alizee. I think the great majority of Americans are consumers who may be enticed to pay attention for a short time but then be distracted by the next Brittany Spears or American Idol to come along and discard Alizee as easily as they picked her up. Alizee deserves better than that. I fully support speading the word about Alizee in the Americas to seek out new true fans and having a place like this to come together (I tell people about Alizee all the time now). But I think mass-marketting Alizee in the United States would be a waste of material, pearls before swine as it were... and I think Alizee kinda knows that too and that has played in her decision to not market herself here. She has enough fans worldwide to be successful and happy, she doesn't need everything that comes with the American media and marketing gurus just to make a few million dollars more.

Even you are generous. 500 000 is unthinkable. And even if it was in the ten of thousands "only", there would be way more people in this forum instead of 795. Still, you must remove maybe half of that for spammers and a few others for non American members here. That makes around 300/400 for this forum. I couldn't imagine even only 10 or 20 thousands total fans in America...

Why "bad taste"? She has had NO official exposure here. No songs on the radio, no music videos, (almost) no television appearances. She only has YouTube, and that is entirely via word-of-mouth. Your second thought was right...people just don't know about her.

google analytics says we average about 6,000 unique USA visitors per week.

and 83,167 unique USA visitors since the website started (this is for people who have visited the website more than 10 times). now all of those people are not 'fans' .. but I would think at least 25,000 of those people are real fans.

still even 25,000 is not enough to make it worth her while in the states.

He's not saying she had 500,000 American fans...but that 500,000 Americans have heard of her. The latter is possible, when you consider approximately 7.5 million people play WoW, and the vast bulk of them are night elf females (the character that dances like Alizée). When people ask me what my character's name means and I respond, "it's the last name of a French pop star," they usually reply with "Alizée?" Of course, not all 7.5 million players are American, but I'd guess that at least half of them are. If only 10% of the American players know where that dance came from, then you're looking at almost 400,000 people right there.

Then there's YouTube and Google Video, where many more people discover her. We can add sites like digg here, although I assume most people who digg her articles already know about her (given the comments those articles get).

And finally, people randomly post pictures of Alizée in OT sections of other message boards. I've mentioned here before that I discovered her through a basketball forum, due to one poster who knew about her and would post pictures. I'm sure this number is much smaller than the other two sources, but it exists.

Altogether, I'd say it's entirely possible that 500,000 Americans have heard of her...but you're probably right that she doesn't have 500,000 American fans.

There are alot more fans than 1000 or so.. its just that most of them are not avid fans like the rest of us here.

Just the other day, i was visiting a friend and her neice was listening to moi-lolita. I asked her who sang the song, and she didn't know.. BUT she did say that she wished to have more of her music... I asked her if she liked more of her music, would she goto a concert? She said sure.

So the influence of Alizee in the Us is larger than the fans you see buying stuff on Ebay and posting on Her fan forums.

How many fans did Alizée have in France before they heard her sing for the first time? None. She started from zero and built it up to what she has today. The USA would be no different. At least here she has at least a few thousand to start out with. If she could get on Leno, Letterman and a few shows like that, she would get quite a bit of exposure without to much time and expense on her part. There is a lot of disposable income in the USA and I would like nothing more than to see Alizée get some of it. As for the music industry, its all run by multi-national corporations. I doubt if it would be that different in the US than it is in Europe or Asia. Globalization...
