Lorie is another star, a little bit more in the teenybopper genre, who is also coming out with a new album right at the same time. Her new single is "Je Vais Vite", which just came out. It's kind of catchy in a Kylie-esque way. JPVA was seen by some as a bit of a rejoinder to Lorie's "A 20 Ans" song.

Yes, the proportions are working properly (I checked).

Alizé is 73%.

When I said proportional representation, I meant the type of voting system in Irish elections. i forgot that I was the only Irishman here, sorry about that :p

I agree, I would also love to know the stats on pre-ordering her CD. I wonder just how strong a showing the Americas are making so far.

I've tried.... My responses have ranged from complete ignorance of her music ("She's hot"), to amusant at my musical tastes having barely listened to the intro ("Ha, how the hell can you listen to that"). I even got a couple of people who refused to listen because it was in French.

The worst I got was a person saying, and I quote, "I've seen better", which led to him recieving quite a large bruise on his arm for missing the point entirely :(

Irish youth can be quite ignorant of things they don't know. Hopefully, it's something people grow out of.

Things are probably the same here in the USA. The only thing going for us here is a population of 300 million. If you can win over even a small percentage of people here it still can be potentially a significant number.

I’ve only been able to win over one friend, and I consider my friends pretty open-minded. It’s not the French language that bothers them. Believe it or not, it’s the dancing! It reminds them of artists like Britney and they don’t like her. They seem to favor male rock bands.

I think many guys see rock music as a male oriented genre and shy away from female pop artists. They may admit they are "hot", but won't confess to listening to them. It seems quite silly to me...

I like some of her stuff more than others. She seems to do a lot of "genre-copying". "A 20 Ans" was pretty Britney-esque, I suppose. I wasn't a big fan of "Sur un air latino" or "Parti pour zouker". "Je Vais Vite" is totally a rehash of Kylie's "Can't Get You Out of My Head"...but I liked Kylie's, so I kinda like the copy too.

Have you seen the wikipedia article though? I'm not sure I quite agree with the image contrast that the authors make between Lorie and Alizée but oh well.

Whenever I need to kill some time I pop on some music and just keep up the ole "click and press enter" I can get almost 2 votes per second. :p

Edit: Someone was helping me though, everytime it refreshed from my vote it went up 2 instead of one.
