(1) In French version, there's small word plays, which are hard to translate.

They are (purposely) miswritten forms of :
actrice (actress) -> ac-triste
cicatrices (scars) -> cica-tristes

"triste" means "sad" in english. So the lyricist included the emotion (sadness) even into those words.

Flou means blurry when referring to an image or something physical, but things are always more confusing when you're dealing with abstract nouns. We have the mention of physical scars, and we also can see emotional scarring throughout the song. I'm overcomplicating things here, but I would generally agree, "blurry" or "vague" would be better words than "messy."

If anyone feels like continuing the tangent I just dropped, feel free ;)

It depends what really was meant by the word. Whos face it's referring to. If it's face seen through tears, it's most likely blurry.

If it's face of person who's crying those tears... it's quite messy... since makeup is all over the place.

Blue isn't french, because they say "bleu". I thought it was a verb but I haven't find it on my dictionary...

My guess is that this is some sort of bilingual pun, since "baby blue" is an expression in English (let's see, it refers to the color of blue that is often used for blankets for baby boys, I think, and is often used to refer to blue eyes, e.g. "I just love gazing into those baby blues of yours"), but also one can use "blue" to mean "sad" or "depressed", so importing that adjective into French with that meaning would cause "mon bébé blue" to mean "my sad baby".

Have to say that the translations here are much more indepth than the ones I find elsewhere online.. I never thought this was such as sad song! I just loved it when she sang "Lonee-lee leest" :wub:

I still have work to do in terms of actually understanding all her songs..
