There is absolutely no way I can get to Paris at this time. You guys say hi for me. :)
so she's not singing at all, just signing autographs? i thought there was going to be a little showcase, no?
Doesn't seem that way from the wording, plus it's only two hours. But I kind of wanted to go anyway just to buy the album, so this is extra incentive.
Cooney, let me know what's up - maybe we can split the hotel. Though I've already got two others (RMJ and William Hall), so I dunno. Depends what type of rooms are available, and I haven't looked yet. At the very least we'll meet up at the store, of course.
I'll be there two nights, Sunday and Monday.
Sweet! Have fun, guyz! Take pictures, of course! We'll all be waiting...and living our fantasy through you guyz! I wish i could go!!:(

I think it is so cool that you are going!
Make sure to get some photos, and give Lili all our regards!
wow, even getting within view of her would be well worth the trip!
tell her we all said hello :)

Shoot... this is gonna be a tight squeeze, but I'm going to go ahead and say yes, I'll be there. If everything goes well, I should be buying my tickets tommorrow.
Cooney, I just booked a triple room. I know RMJ is going, and I think also William Hall. But we could probably squeeze you in too. Let us know.

I guess the question is, how far are you willing and able to go for a personal appearance or concert. Of course there’s no right or wrong answer, it depends on the personal circumstances for each one of us.
I generally limit myself to the continental US and Canada, and possibly Mexico. The exception to the rule is if I can plan a whole vacation to coincide with a concert, then that would be acceptable.
The problem for me is that I had bad luck this year like Edcognito. Where I live there’s no city water. My well collapsed and I had to drill a new one to the tune of $11,000.00. No expensive vacations this year for me.
If Alizée doesn’t want to or can’t come to North America, I may never get to see her in person. So be it. I feel no resentment towards her, it’s just the way things are. Hopefully an opportunity will present itself for me in the future, but for now I will just have to be happy watching her videos and listening to her CD’s.
I’m happy for you guys, and I hope you get to see her. As everyone else said, say hi to her from Alizeeamerica.com and let her know she is loved in the US. Some of us will just have to live vicariously through you. We will expect a full report and pictures.

I think thats a really good idea.

What I would suggest if you want an autograph for the site, is to send her an email or a MySpace PM asking for an autograph and including, say, Brad's mailing address. Or maybe mail her the request care of RCA. In the old days she always used to respond to requests for autographs like that, if my understanding is correct.
Sigh..

I really couldn't see making this trip even if I could afford it, which I can't. I am planning a lengthy trip to France in a year or two, and have it more or less mapped out. I'll do some sightseeing and shopping in Paris, go to Breton to see the megaliths, check out a few other places in France proper, and then go to Corsica to let the island tell me why I'm supposed to go there. That may take some time, so I'll be budgeting the bulk of my time in France for Corsica. By the time I can swing this trip, my French should be near fluency.
If Her Grace holds a concert while I'm there, of course I'll get a ticket and alter my plans to attend - or if I know about it ahead of time, I'll buy the ticket before going. If she holds another meet-the-public thing while I'm there, I'll bend plans to make that, too. But if I spend the money on a trip to France just for this, it will delay going on the trip I mean to take. Considering that there will be a huge crowd, that there won't be any real opportunity to talk to her, and that getting her autograph should be as easy as writing a letter if I wanted that, I just can't see the benefit here to justify that delay.
But hey, once again you guys have fun. I understand why you would do this if you just have the time to burn and the money lying around in the bank and don't know what to do with it. Unfortunately, I'm not in that situation. :(

I hear ya Deep. I'm in the same boat. When I go, I'm going to have to make it count. I hope I'm lucky enough to catch her then.
It isn't long in life before you buy a house, develop relationships, responsibilities and/or obligations and your hands become tied and some freedom is lost. I can't just take off at a moment's notice anymore...:(
I say if you are free to go and nothing is standing in your way, just do it and have a great time...:)

You still gonna ask for her autograph if Jeremy is there sitting next to her? Now that she is married...I wonder if Jeremy would attend those kind of things.
That would make me feel wierd if her husband was there next to her as I shuffled up to gawk at her and ask for her personal handwriting, even stranger if her daughter was there or her mother or father, lol
"I promise Alizee i'm not a stalker, just a hysterical fan helping you get extra money for this autograph session." "Yea just make it out to Matrix"
"Also, can I get a little closer to smell you?" :p :)
Alizee said herself in an interview a long time ago...she is worried of "fan hysterics"

Hmm...I wonder why it makes you feel strange? I mean, if I were going there to ask her for her autograph, it doesn't seem like it should matter if Jeremy's there, or her daughter, or her dad or my dad or the Pope for that matter (as long as they aren't somehow interfering with the autograph).
If I were her, I'd be worried about fan hysterics too (esp. after what happened to Mylene back in 1991). I hope she has a couple of very big, very burly bodyguards on hand.

This is specifically an autograph session, having her sign something is the entire purpose of the event.
I'd be delighted if her husband and/or child were there - I'd say hello to them as well. I don't imagine they will be, but on the off chance they are, so much the better.

All I can say is @$%$##!@@#!!!
And... I want to meet up with gargantuan fans like you guys and go see Alizee in person. How many days left?
I'm sure she will be impressed that anyone came practically halfway around the world to see her for 30 seconds in some store. Best 30 seconds of your life, eh? I bow and scrape before you, for: I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/584/worthyeo1.gif

I'm doing this in place of the January concert myself, unless I suddenly get an extra couple grand tossed in my bank account for no apparent reason.
While I really want to see her in concert, I'm willing to wait, as I know there will be more opportunities. I can't be sure, however, that I'll have future opportunities to speak with her in person and see her up close, much less get a personalized autograph, so I'm leaping at the chance.

What happened to Mylene?
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myl%C3%A8ne_Farmer#Leaving_France
In December of 1991 a disturbed man who had been stalking Farmer entered the Polydor/EMI Record Co. headquarters in Paris and held a group of employees hostage at gunpoint demanding to talk to Mylene. Tragically, the man killed a receptionist and then committed suicide. Following this occurrence Mylene shunned all media attention and left France to live anonymously in California. In the following years, Farmer became almost as famous for her reclusivity as for her recording career, keeping all aspects of her personal life private, and limiting herself to one interview per album.

That's just unbelievable you guys are going. Must be nice to know enough French too to get around.
It might be worthwhile to ask Alizée a somewhat unusual question, such as the intended meaning of the woman in black in the MJ video. No doubt that you would make an impression and perhaps get a very interesting answer. Of course, whatever you decide to say, you will undoubtedly make an impression having travelled so far to see her.
Best of luck with the trip everyone!

There are some complications with this. I'm gonna try to get them printed up here locally in nyc, but I can't promise anything...

So, you guys are getting there the 2nd (probably early in the day), probably camping out at Virgin much of the day on the 3rd, and leaving the 4th, eh?
I'm sure you've already discussed this amongst yourselves, but it would be pretty cool for you to meet up with the French fans; at this point, you're kind of a high-level diplomatic delegation for AAm. Maybe you could score a meeting with Julien, Jessica, etc. Heck, they might be able to get you all some special perks (obviously they must know people at the record company, etc.) And hopefully someone from the press will find out. I mean, that's gotta be good press for her... "Dedicated fans travel up to 10000 km for autograph session".

Lolitas always end by freeing themselves. At 22 years, Alizée became a singer that better resembles the woman that she has become. Without breaking the pop-aura engrained in our collective memory, her new album breaks towards new possibilities, other emotions that jive with the creative vitality of not being a marionette.
At 15 years, signed up by a friend for the casting of a broadcast of Graines de Star, she went without expectations, was selected, and then caught the eye of Mylène Farmer who proposed to her something more to try. The evidence of this embodiment is thus: that Moi... Lolita released a few weeks later, for one of the greatest successes in the history of song.
A long break allowed her to assimilate what had happened in the previous years, to enjoy day to day life and motherhood, and finally, to formulate her desires for what was to come. The assistance of her husband, Jérémy Chatelain, helped Alizée find her voice. Come to light as a child of television, this survivor of Star Ac' escaped cliché formats, and has produced Psychédélices, the new Alizée album. A list of names of ideal collaborators is also born: Jean Fauque, Oxmo Puccino, Daniel Darc, Bertrand Burgalat. Surprise, all agree to play the game...
More free, more in bloom, the singer has never so imprinted her personality. A new winds blows upon Alizée.

Hey guys! Shit, this is kinda sudden. How long are you planning on staying? There's like a 10% chance I could go! Someone message me w/ some info asap if you can. K, Gogogo!
Edit: Ugg, I totally forgot that I didn't finish my passport paperwork, yet :( I guess I checked that off in my brain as done, but forgot to actually go back and hand all the bs in..I lose! I guess finding a flight that was connecting through Moscow kinda made me think about passports, lol :D
On the bright side...
It escapes me how we never had this done. I should have had this done when I was still living in Korea. Mass production for cheap, but at Grade A quality.
I do live in Korea, so if you guys want some mass produced shirts for future concerts, I would be happy to have some made.

D'oh, sorry to hear about the passport problem RWD :-( That sucks.
Informationally though, most of us will be there from Sunday through Tuesday, just long enough for the event.
Hmmm, you're military, right? Any chance they can do an expedited passport in like, 72 hours? I know I know, probably not, but worth a shot. Maybe there's a base in France that desperately needs an "official visit" next week?
damn you guys, do you all not have jobs or what???
i just wish it wasn't so sudden, there is no possible way i can get off work long enough to go :(

I have Sunday/Monday off, so I'm missing just one day on each side of my weekend. I've turned my supervisor in to a bit of a fan, so when I mentioned the event, he pretty much demanded that I take the time to go to it.

Yes, some people have jobs where they can get off on short notice. I probably could have pulled it off, but then no, I do not have a job.:D
You know what, this is probably the best possible month for not having a job. Hell, it's still hard keeping up with all the Alizée news. I've been totally out of it since like Saturday or Sunday trying to deal with this trip and stuff.

I used to be in a job like that where I could just take off almost any time I felt like it. Ahh those were the days :D
I'm in between jobs right now and do some part-time work from home just to keep busy and have some cash flow coming in. Gives me plenty of time to keep up with everything Alizee-related, but unfortunately I still wouldn't be able to make it. May have a new job anytime now.

In the US, if you go to a passport center with proof of travel, you can get same-day service (or at least you could in the old days).

These days it takes 8-10 weeks. I believe you can get 6 weeks if you pay a bunch extra for expedited service, and even then it isn't guaranteed.
The State Department has made a huge mess of things with their "passport required for citizens re-entering the USA" bit. They pushed the regulation, but didn't do anything to prepare for the backlog.

Yeahl, they didn't prepare very well for that.
But I'm not talking about the mail-in service where you go to the passport acceptance office at your post office or etc. I'm talking about taking it physically to a passport center.

There are courier services that will wait in line for you for a couple hundred dollars. The regulations might be tougher these days than when I needed to use it though.

As of a year ago, I did it in 5 days. Fed Ex'd in the completed forms with a Fed Ex return envelope, total processing time was 3 days. Got help from the local county court house for about $120+. Can't be sure if it was due to my SSN or the fact that I'm in the western half of the US, but my paperwork was sent to the San Francisco office. The eastern side of the US is handled in New York, I think.

Oh yeah... usually 3 times a quarter. But I know how when I traveled to Europe this summer, and it was about 24 hours in transit in which I maybe got 90 minutes total snooze plus a 9-hour time chage, that kicked my ass. The first 2 days I'd conk out at about 6pm local time and then end up waking up at about 3am wide awake and ready to start my day.

Bleh! Ya know how good things always seem to come in the company of bad things? So yeah... tonight on the way home from work, I'm about 5 miles from my house, and some dipshit in a very large pickup truck decides to make a very sudden right turn from the outside lane, across my lane, without slowing down, signalling, or looking to notice the fact that I'm right there. I managed to avoid broadsiding him by slamming on the breaks and turning in to the curb, which immediately tore my right front tire in to about 10 pieces. The pickup, of course, gunned it and sped away.
/sigh
I managed to limp the car home in stages, getting out frequently to make sure the remains of the tire were staying between the rim and the pavement. Finally got to my garage, with the smell of burnt rubber filling the air, and parked it in its place. At this time of night, no service station within 15 miles is open doing tire service, and I couldn't afford it anyway - not right before this trip. Guess I'm taking taxi and bus to the airport tommorrow instead of driving!
On the plus side, I guess, nobody got hurt, and I'm still going to see Lili on Monday, but oi! I feel like I should be pretty pissed off, but somehow, I just can't stay angry given the coolness that's coming up. I don't think it'll really sink in until I get back and have to deal with it. For now, it just stays in the garage.
Tommorrow... the plane.

Hey guys, dunno if anyone's mentioned this, but how cool would it be if one of you could get a sig for Alizée America? I'm sure yur all wantin it signed to you, but if there's anyone who was gettin two signed or something...I think it would kinda be a great plug for us to her  How cool would it be to have a pic of an album signed for all of us by Lili on our homepage? I wouldn't doubt one of those happened :p. I couldn't imagine being face to face with her, crazy thought. Think about waiting in that line and you have one person in front of you before it is your chance to speak to her. instant heart attack lol.
 That's gotta be Cooney! Did he, in fact, meet the great Alizee? Looks like he's ready to pass out or get on his knees. Can you imagine what it would have been like for the first guy/gal to be denied entrance to see Lili because the line was too long? Uhh, that would suck.

Location: Sea-Tac Airport, Seattle, WA, USA
Sitting in the airport terminal, we're told that we'll have a slight delay as it has quite suddenly started snowing at the airport. Not a real problem, just need to wait for de-icing. I do my best to understand the announcements being made in French, double-checking them against the announcements made in English. I eavesdrop a bit on French people talking, to see if I can pick things out. Soon, we are called for boarding, and I step aboard to discover (to my surprise) that we're on an A340 instead of an A330, the usual equipment from SEA to CDG. Not a huge number of differences from a passenger's perspective, just an interesting footnote. The plane change has resulted in getting a different seat than originally picked, but I still score an aisle seat with nobody next to me. Sweetness.
The flight goes smoothly. I eat the food (pretty good, really), watch a couple movies (Une Fille Couper En Deux and Bourne Ultimatum, the French title for which translates as "Vengeance In The Skin"). I had planned to use French on the flight with the attendants, but chickened out. They all spoke pretty good to very good English, which they used regularly, even with each other. I listen to Psychédélices on my iPod a couple times, reading along with print outs of the lyrics, and rolling over meanings in my head.

Date: 02/12/07
Time: 9h00
Location: Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris, France
We land at Charles de Gaulle airport in France. The airport is beautiful and modern, with art installations and colored glass. I follow my life-long airport mantra of walking around looking up, as that's where signs are, and going wherever they point me. Despite the massive size of CDG and its frequently confusing routes, this policy works well and I find myself rapidly passing through French customs (didn't have to say a word) and emerging in to the baggage claim. From there, I follow more signs and find myself emerging in to a sort of plaza area of the airport, from which Air France runs a shuttle service to various locations in downtown Paris. My first sentence in French is "I would like to buy a ticket on bus number 2 for Charles de Gaulle - Etoille, please." Not very romantic, but hey, it worked.
I get on the bus, and soon we depart. I have a bit of trouble figuring out what route we're taking in to the city, but as the Eiffel Tower suddenly comes in to view over rooftops, I've no doubt we're headed the right way. Even more sudden was the turn towards the Arc de Triumph. As we turn off of a roundabout, I see a sign indicating we're heading towards the Arc. I look up the street, and there, dominating the skyline, it is. Our bus orbits around it, and pulls on to one of the radial streets to let us off. I immediately take pictures (I AM a tourist, after all), and then set about to figure out which way the hotel is. I'm not as good at finding street signs as I am at finding airport signs, but looking at where the Eiffel Tower is relative to the Arc, I get my bearings, and head off in the right direction. I soon find the street signs I need, and some time around 11h or 11h30 I walk in to the lobby of our hotel, and meet CFHollister, Roman, and Snatcher42 who'd had arrived earlier, and were kindly waiting for me.
To burn some time until our rooms are ready, we head off towards the Champs-Elysées, to scout out the Virgin Megastore where the event will take place. In the entrance hallway, on either side, we find huge advertisements trumpeting Alizée's appearance the following night. We walk throughout the store, locate her previous albums on sale for kicks, and I ask a clerk where the event will be. He responds that it will be on the first floor, when they set it up, which they haven't yet. I get the impression he's been asked quite a few times.
We head back to the hotel, where the rooms are ready, and check in. We hang around there for a while, getting adjusted, and catching a few quick Z's in CF's case. RMJ shows up and joins us, followed not too long after by Will, a friend of RMJ and Snatcher42 from AFC. Will brings the International Fan t-shirts we're all going to wear for the event. We head out again, as a group, back to the Champs. A storm has been brewing, however, and pouring rain is accompanied by gale force winds, strong enough to send chairs flying, knock over potted trees, and cause restaurants to batten down the hatches on their outdoor terraces. Despite this, we decide to head to the Eiffel Tower and get some pictures. Roman and I haven't ever been to Paris, so the others are kind enough to play along and make sure we get to do this. We reach the large plaza across the Seine from the tower, just above the location where many concerts are held. Visions of JPVA at the foot of the tower dance in my eyes, and RMJ takes some pictures for us. As it is becoming ever colder and wetter, we decide to retreat back to the hotel rather than stay outside and catch pneumonia, so we grab the metro back to Charles de Gaulle - Etoille and hit the hotel. We do dinner separately, and make plans to meet the next day.

Time: 09h30
Location: Virgin Megastore, Champs-Elysées, Paris, France
We begin gathering outside the store, which opens at 10h00. We aren't the only ones there - four or five other Alizée fans are lingering, as well as couple people waiting to buy tickets for, I believe, a Celine Dion concert. As the giant doors open, people start to surge forward, but are held in check by a polite guard who wants to make sure the door displays are set up first. When he gives the go, in we come, and by 10h05 we’ve all got copies of the album in our hands. We notice another guy standing around holding an Alizée disc, and CF asks if he’s there for the Alizée event. He says yes, so I head over to say hello and introduce us in French, as best I can. Turns out, he’s an AFC member who goes by “Lynx,” and we chat a little bit. Looking at our watches and trying to figure out what to do with the next seven and three quarter hours before she arrives, we decide to sit on the steps in the store. Somebody comes up and asks Lynx if the rest of us are foreign fans, and upon hearing that we are, he comes over to say hello. He’s a very pleasant Belgian fellow, though not active on any of the forums. We had a decent chat about Alizée, weather, distribution of different promo items, and things like that, when a security guards comes and asks us to move. At first I thought he was asking us to leave the store, but checking with Lynx, it was just that they didn’t want us to be sitting on their main stairway all day. We were ok, as long as we were up and moving around.
We split up and wandered the store for a few hours, with people taking breaks at various points to go get food and such. I step out for around half an hour at 13h30, and then return to do a second circuit of the DVD section. While I walk around the section, I glance down stairs occasionally to see if they’re setting anything up yet. When 15h30 arrives, I get suspicious that I haven’t seen anything, and that I’m not seeing any other members I’m traveling with, so I walk downstairs. Much to my surprise, I see they have the line set up in the entrance hallway, headed towards the street, where it has been for about half an hour. My colleagues yell at me to get over there, apparently having been a bit alarmed by my absence, not realizing I was just upstairs oblivious to the preparations under my very nose. They had saved a place for me in line, and fortunately, the knot of hardcore fans directly behind them didn’t object when I slipped under the rope to join them. This may have had something to do with the fact that we were all dressed in matching Alizée shirts, and so were obviously together, but either way, it was cool. Apparently, in my absence, I’d missed the arrival of well known fan Jessica (Alizeeclochette) who was around, but I got to meet her later, when it turned out she was in line with the group immediately behind us. I got the chance to introduce myself as the person who’d contacted from Alizée America to do a translation of her story, which she remembered and was cool with.
At around 17h00, the store managers seemed to realize that they had a very sizeable crowd on hand, and began moving crowd control barriers out on to the wide sidewalks of the Champs-Elysées to contain them and maintain order. Around 17h30 they moved everybody forward and packed us in tight, but the line was growing ever-longer, 3 or 4 people wide, and stretching from the heart of the store out on to the sidewalk, and then snaking back and forth against the street. Unknowing shoppers kept stopping and asking what was going on, and then going “Ahhh yes, Alizée” when we told them or pointed them to the signs. Part of the area near where the registers normally are was cleared, and a small platform moved in, with a table and chairs. There was a set of glass double doors leading to the back right behind the platform, and everybody kept their eyes and cameras trained on them. Occasionally some security guard would walk across the stage and suddenly everybody would leap up, but mostly anticipation filled the air. Then, the music that was playing continuously throughout the day stopped. Every TV in the store went black, and we saw the words “Mademoiselle Juliette” appear on screen… the beginning of her video.
There was a huge roar of applause, and quite suddenly Alizée herself appeared, not from the double doors, but coming across the lobby with her entourage around her. She smiled and waved, we screamed and sang along with the video. The very first moments I saw her, I could not believe what I was seeing. It was like looking at a movie screen – it just couldn’t be real. Somehow it was, but I didn’t believe it – human beings just cannot be like that. She is unfathomably beautiful – a hundred times more so in person than in any photograph I’ve ever seen, but it wasn’t just her beauty. I swear, she positively radiated an aura of happiness, good will, and light. She positively glowed, like one could pick her out in glimpses through the crowd (which now included dozens of press photographers) based only on the reflected light from her sparkling eyes, open mouth smiles, and perfect hair. She consulted only a few moments with her team before diving in. The small group of fans ahead of us took their turns, and soon it was us. I’ll let each person describe their own experience and conversations, that I cannot do for others, but my own was roughly this (in French):
Me: Hello!
Alizée: Hello!
Me: How are you doing?
Alizée: I’m doing well, how are you?
Me: I’m doing really great. I flew from the United States just to see you here today. It’s like a dream come true.
Alizée: Oh, aren’t you the one that posted you were coming from there on my MySpace?
Me: Yes, yes that was me. I go by “Cooney” there, and on Alizée America
Alizée: Ok, who shall I make this out to?
Me: My name is Evan, E V A N
Alizée: Ok, Evan. (signs vinyl, opens up the standard version disc to the inside cover). Do you want it here on the inside?
Me: Yes please, that would be great
Alizée: Ok, for Evan (she pronounces my name Uh-Van, which I certainly don’t mind!)
Me: Thank you very much!
Alizée: See you soon!
Me: Yes, see you soon!
And just like that, I was done. It was about 30 seconds, but it was perhaps one of the best 30 seconds of my life. She looked up frequently, making eye contact with those impossibly-deep brown eyes of hers, and holy shit! She remembered my MySpace comments! I felt like I was floating, suspended in some sort of trance. I’m still a bit short of breath thinking about it, thinking about being close to her, sharing a smile, exchanging our few short words.
I joined the others on the exit side of the stage, where we stood, just watching the proceedings, for hours. The store cut additional people off from joining the line some time around 20h00, but even then, the end of the line didn’t reach her until 21h15. A huge mix of young and old, male and female, die hard and casual, people with gifts, autograph books, rare memorabilia, and kind words. She had smiles for everybody, and was particularly tender towards her young fans, kids some of whom couldn’t be more than 12 years old, who mixed in with the college age and older crowd, parents in tow (who often seemed to also be fans themselves). Reporters and photographers slipped in and out, taking pictures, video taping, and interviewing people. Her father was there as one of the photographers, too, which was cool. They took close up photos of almost every signing being done – I’m hoping these will be made available somewhere, but who knows? During the entire event, nothing played in the store except the album Psychédélices on continuous loop. The final time through on Décollage, Snatcher42 got our group to clap along with the entire song, which earned a broad smile our direction from our princess.
When finally the end of the line reached her, she capped her pen, stood up, and the glass doors behind her opened. The crowd roared again, screaming her name, and she turned one last time to give a wave, flash her rapturous smile, and say thank you before hopping nimbly off the back of the stage and disappearing in to the darkness. We lingered a bit, looking at each other, before finally snapping out of it and making our way back to the hotel. We went up to one of the rooms, where we took group pictures, and RMJ broke out his laptop to go through the pics we took, and watch the bonus DVD from the limited edition for the first time.
Minor Spoiler, highlight to read:

We said our goodbyes that night, as we were leaving at various points the next morning, and wouldn’t likely see each other before then.

I’m back at the airport, finding my way to check in. I have a pleasant conversation with one of the security officers, and we commiserate about how silly passengers behave sometimes. I’m delighted to find that I can carry on fairly long conversations without too much difficulty (talked for 15 minutes or so with one guy, the previous night), and despite what I’m sure must be a fairly obvious accent on my part, nobody seems to have trouble understanding me. This time, on the plane, I don’t chicken out. As the attendants move down the aisles, speaking in English to all the Americans around me, they switch to French every time they reach me, without waiting for me to say anything. Point of pride, yay! I’m a hell of a long ways from anything resembling fluency, but it’s a good first step, and certainly a big leap for me in terms of my confidence level on understanding and using spoken words.
On the flight back, I carry my shopping bag with my precious Alizée autographed items as an independent carry on item, keeping it in my lap much of the time, and certainly paying more attention to it than my suitcase or backpack. I manage to get it home safely, and am delighted to find that the CD’s and DVD’s I ordered from Amazon arrived as well, the day after release. Now I have my collection items on my shelves, and my user copies ready for countless hours in my CD players.
As for Alizée – I cannot say enough. This young woman, whose language I’m only beginning to understand, and whose home is thousands of miles from mine, has changed my life in ways I can hardly comprehend. I though I was a fan before. If I was, she has made me in to something much more than that now. I don’t know what to call it. I feel a strong love for her, like that I feel for a close friend, or a family member. I will remain her fan, cheer her on, and be her supporter for as far as I can foresee. Thank you Alizée, for everything you have done!

I'll post a bit more later when I can keep myself from breaking out in tears every time I try to think about how incredible it was. I did not know a human being could be like that... like her.

Thank you very much for having shared such a valuable experience with us, Cooney. I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself so much and did in fact meet Alizée. AND you managed to hold a conversation with her? I'm pretty sure that, by that point, I would be beet red and stuttering so much that Lili wouldn't be able to understand me. :D

Just an interesting tale about my journey through Charles de Gaulle Airport: Last summer, my family and I had the chance to visit France and, of course, arrived at CDG. Surprised and pleased by the architecture within the airport itself, we continued on our way to Customs. After gliding along several moving walkways, we arrived at the final walkway which was converging everyone, including us, to Customs. Near the end of the walk, we notice people stopped ahead of us and finally notice that there's a backup. "Oh ****," my dad mutters, as we begin to see people several feet ahead of us stumbling, stuck behind those in front of them. We turn around quickly to see if we can run backwards, partly to save our own skins and to allow room for those caught in between the end of the walkway and solid ground, but are met with the unwelcome sight of more travelers with the same alarmed expressions. We somehow manage with a great degree of luck to make our way through those who are stuck and proceed to move out of the way to make room for those still being dragged forward. We then notice that the line is indeed for Customs and that, in true human fashion, it is only two or three people wide with those near the front of the line completely oblivious and unconcerned for the people still frantically pushing to make it off the walkway. Likewise, the French airport security, completely cognizant of the scene building behind us, continued to walk on by as if everything were routine. It's amazing that as soon as something ceases to directly impact people, their compassion ceases with it. By now we see that the crowd on the moving walkway is thinning (perhaps the throng of people was only due to our recently arrived flight) and, slowly, room is appearing in between the end of the line and the end of the moving walkway. Quel horreur!

Cooney, thank you so much for sharing your story. That was a great account of your experience but I'm sure the mere words can't describe the actual feeling of being there, face to face with her. By the way, do you have any pics? Would love to see them.

I'm looking forward to reading Roman's, Snatcher's, RMJ's and other people's stories who were there for the event.
Unfortunately, most of my pictures of the Alizée event itself turned out terribly blurry. My hands were jittering like mad, and weren't helped by the fact that one generally had to hold the camera up high while getting jostled to take pics. I do have a couple though. RMJ is the master, however, and with his ubercameras took hundreds of pictures, including many that are simply gorgeous and stunningly detailed. I'll see if I can dig out the ones that don't suck as badly as the others, and get them posted.

Absolutely she reads her Myspace, it's hers to manage :-) I definitely saw the other guys - I was rooming with two of them, and we were all at the same hotel, dressed the same, etc. There are a couple group pics RMJ has.
Congratulations Cooney! That was a truly amazing story. Perhaps when you have a chance, we'd love to hear your perspectives on other happenings, e.g. Roman's tattoo-unveiling, meeting Jessica, other fans from AFC/etc., the Slovak news crew(?), the after-party, etc.
Well, I'd rather let Roman talk about his tattoo thing - that's his thunder, and none of us ought to steal it. He flew home today as well, but his plane was getting in later at night, I believe, so we might not see him 'til tommorrow. All I'll say was, it was damn impressive, and both Lili and the crowd had a heck of a reaction.
Meeting Jessica was something I missed out on, relative to the others. As I said, I got to say hello and introduce myself while we were in line, but apparently while I obliviously wasted my time upstairs, she came down the line and chatted with the others, gave them kisses on the cheek, and posed for a picture with one of the LP's. She was immediately grabbed by an E! news reporter after getting her autographs and went off to a corner to be interviewed.
The after party mostly consisted of reviewing photos and then going to sleep, sorry to say. Once she was gone, we kinda got hit by the fatigue of having been in a store on our feet for most of 12 hours, plus time zones, long flights, and all that jazz.
The whole thing, overall, felt huge. I don't know if Virgin was expecting it to be so large, or not. The entire ground floor was packed when the event began... hundreds of people in line on one side, and a mob of photographers and lookers-on on the other. It was like a carnival atmosphere, but people stayed very patient, and it was smiles all around.

For what it's worth, that article confirms the rumor that Alizée bought back the rights to her name for the symbolic price of 1 Euro.
