The shooting of Sept a Huit?

How lucky they must be...
I think I read something on AFC last night that several members were selected to participate in a preview of Psychédélices (apparently with Alizée). I guess this is what the show will then be about.

From Flacky at AFC:
Maybe this has already been said:
[She said] that there was going to be a tour, that she thinks about all of her fans, especially her Mexican fans (who are very visibly present on her Myspace, on which she reads all of the messages herself), that she was a little nervous about her return, that she reads the forum [AFC] (a joke about PinParasol [who was a giant skeptic about anything released that wasn't official, such as the original Fifty-Sixty leak] was told), asked us about the ad in which she appeared in Mexico (that she wasn't aware of), that foreign advertisements (Mexico) will have the same priority as in France [Thanks Deepwaters] ...
I'm not sure if that last sentence was correctly translated, but you get the jist of it. :p
Mais en tout cas, j'espère qu'Alizée comprend qu'il existe des fans en dehors de Mexique.

Maybe the American fans need to post more on MySpace! (and identify themselves as American; a lot of them post in French, I think).
Information Society got back together last year and they said that the participation on their MySpace page played a big role in understanding how much fan enthusiasm there was.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps we have just reached such an advanced level of French mastery that Alizée mistakenly identifies us as French fans. :D
All jokes aside, I agree; if Americans decide to comment in French, they should state that they are indeed American (and perhaps include a little link to Alizée America). :)

BTW, I guess we already knew that she reads AFC, but it's interesting to know that she reads it at the level of detail that she knows who's who (the detailed report over at AFC indicates that she went around the room to ask everyone who was who, and by that, she wanted their AFC or AA pseudonym). I experienced it a bit at the virtual concert, where I was more inclined to identify fellow participants by pseudonym than by real name.
(The sign of a true computer geek at heart; she knows 'em by handles better than in real life ;) )
Snatcher42 posts there; there's a good chance she would recognize him by pseudo as well, I suppose; I guess he'll find out in a few days :D.

I agree, we need to get all the recognition we can. When I read the comments on her Myspace page, it appears that American fans are almost non-existant.
If we got one tenth of the members here (or even just the active members)to post on her page a few times a week, it would make a huge difference.
Right now there are a lot of people from Mexico posting. This can only help to draw her over here. If we add a good showing of people from Canada and the USA, we may all benefit.

LOL that certainly isn't true of my comments; I go back afterwards, discover the mistakes, and cringe -- especially since I can't edit them. :o
I don't post comments there several times a day the way RMJ does, but I do every few days when I have something to day, and about half the time it's in English. Rocket also posts comments often, and so does Lefty. I'm sure I'm forgetting people. In my last comment, I told her that there would be Americans coming to her autograph signing and gave her the URL of the thread where it's being discussed/planned, and apologized for the fact that I won't be there myself. She knows who we are. I think Mexico was singled out simply because, other than France, it's the country where her fans are thickest on the ground.
Toc de Mac, I would translate that last phrase as "that foreign advertisements (Mexico) will have the same priority as in France."

OK, I just went over to her MySpace page (hate that I can't post her name now ) and, not including two comments which were ads/spam, there were 48 comments on the first page. Of those:
23 (almost half) were from France
7 were from the USA or Canada
4 were from Mexico
2 were from China and 2 from Finland, in both cases from the same person
1 each was from Ireland, Italy, the Philippines, India, and Argentina
The remaining five I couldn't tell where they were from, but I'm reasonably certain they weren't either French or Mexican.
Of this forum's participants, I found comments from Killian, Lefty, RMJ (x2), Marik, Jess, Umeesh, and myself (Brian).
That's just recent entries, of course. The balance may shift if we go back further.

Wow!!!!!
Thanks Snatcher42. what great pictures!! How do you find these sites ? I imagine your going thru every blog/forum/fansite or you have connections with the Alizee entourage.
Regardless, I appreciate the effort.
90% of the stuff I post is straight off of alizee-fanclub.net, to tell the truth. I wish more people would try to check there, honestly, to take some of the burden off me. ;)
I watched both videos. It seems pretty quiet for an autograph session..then again, there's probably about 30+ people there snapping pictures & recording it...they don't wanna ruin their media w/noise of rowdy fans. I wonder how many pple showed up?
It was also a listening session of the album. I think about 15 fans were picked to attend. Add in some other people there, and it was like 20 total.
Here's a group photo of the fans:
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/4075/groupe2mg0.jpg
Again, it was to film a segment for a show on tomorrow night. Supposedly someone from RCA contacted Julien on AFC (he doesn't know why him, though he is one of the oldest members there with one of the highest post counts) and asked him to choose some people, specifically saying not to pick all the usual suspects of webmasters etc. As you can see, there are a mix of old and new faces. The sad thing is now some sites like the alliance are protesting this choice. How petty and childish can you get?
Amigo!

Sure it's possible, lots of singers change labels many times and still sing their old songs. However, I have no idea what the case may be here, or even if she wants to.

I'm sure another qualification was that the invitees be able to get to Paris without too much difficulty. Someone living in New York, or even Finland, wouldn't qualify in that respect. Also, being a native French speaker would be a plus, and neither of those two is one.

I'd be there in a day if asked. But given that it was filmed for TV, I do think the language would be a factor. Though really I believe the bulk of it is just that I'm not well known among the French fans, and this was for them.
It's a little annoying for sure, but no biggie. I'm just glad she's doing events like this after so many years away, and that fans are sharing them with us. What's the point of being here if it doesn't make you happy? :)

It has nothing to do with distance. At this point, I couldn't even responsibly suggest she do a show here, and I doubt that will change by early next year. There needs to be more exposure in America before any concert could justify itself. Most Americans have just never seen or heard her! If they did, she'd be loved here just as she is everywhere. Everyone I've introduced to her has found her incredible.
There is Jessica too in it ;)

There needs to be more exposure in America before any concert could justify itself. Most Americans have just never seen or heard her! If they did, she'd be loved here just as she is everywhere. Everyone I've introduced to her has found her incredible.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I realise that Irelandisn't a viable destination for Lili, she has never released anything here (not even Moi... Lolita), but I was just saying that it is funny that while it is mere 775 km from Paris, Dublin won't even be considered for a concert.

I agree. If she's interested, TV appearances may be her best bet. I've always believed if she got exposure in the US she could pick up quite a few fans and CD sales, all without too much expense. I think the qualities that make us love Alizée are universal. Her charm will work its magic almost anywhere in the world.

I expect Mexicans to demand her to sing JEAM though..That song/performance from what I can tell has become an obsession among fans there (well, mostly everywhere now that I think of it:D). I dont think she will be comfortable performing it..dont know. On the other hand she cant go on tour with 10 songs, so she might pay a little tribute to her past work.

I was wondering about that myself. How can she sing a song like ML when she's in her 20s? That will be just . . . weird, almost like Madonna singing Like a Virgin when she's pushing 50 (and most emphatically NOT a virgin!). JEAM might also be a problem, and JPVA definitely. There will still be some of her old songs that would work, though.
Or . . . do you suppose she might have a lot of other new material that isn't going into Psychédélices? It would break the usual practice to introduce those in a concert, but . . .

I was wondering about this too. Since its so far out of the usual, I don't really expect it. But she has already mentioned in interview the early stages of a 4th album (specifically her nervousness about creating something as much "her" as Psychédélices for the 4th album), so it might be possible. I don't know. But yeah, it woul dbe hard to go on tour with 11 songs. Eh, but 11 plus 4-7 oldies might work just fine.

Alizée singing ML or JEAM would be perfectely acceptable in my mind, certainely no stranger the Julien Doré singing them anyway :p.
I mean Eric Clapton, as an example, still sings songs from Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, despite the fact that his unrequited love of Patti Bloyd is something of the past. The songs may not be reflections of his age or circumstances anymore, but they can still be played as people want to hear them. That may be a bad example because the circumstances are not the same, but regardless, the same general rule applys to both Alizée and Madonna, they can sing whatever song they want, even if it is a bit starnge to appease the crowds.
I think she may play unreleased stuff, i have seen some bands do that live, may also do a cover or two (I wouldn't be overly suprised if she sang LIB).

She could slip in a few covers too that she's done in the past.
Edit: Killian beat me to it. She can also do longer versions of some songs to work more dancing into the act.

That's not so unusual. I remember Debbie Gibson singing 3 songs of her as-yet-unreleased album in 1988, plus an old Elton John cover.
And BTW, Madonna did sing Like a Virgin last year on the Confessions Tour:
http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Tour-Live-London-DVD/dp/samples/B000KGGLCU/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1
I don't see it as a problem for her to sing any of her old songs. She'll just have to sing them a little differently, a bit less "personally".
"I Think We're Alone Now" is about furtive teenage love, and Tiffany still sings it every chance she gets and loves it.

Martin is right about the logo Alizee points to on the car. The head is actually called a Maure. It is on the Corsican flag which is called Bandera testa Mora ("Flag with head of Maure"). Here's a pic of it:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Flag_of_Corsica.svg
However, the head is just part of the AC Ajaccio football club's logo. Here's the complete one:

Zack, originally the dollar sign did have two strokes through the S, while the peso had only one; nowadays though they're interchangeable.
Actually the word "dollar" is Spanish in origin and the symbol was probably Spanish, too, which explains why Mexico uses it for the peso. The real mystery is why U.S. currency is called the dollar and uses that symbol. If I get bored one of these days I may research it. ;)

Alrighty folks, translation time. My French is, of course, imperfect, but I'm pretty sure I got at least the intention behind anything. The places I ran in to difficulty were when the grandmother, friend Hélène, or fans were talking, as they were a little less clear. In a couple places there are names that may not be accurate, I just went with approximations, if I wasn't familiar with that.
Enjoy! I'll work on subtitles once I have dinner. It's past 22h and for some reason I haven't eaten yet :-P
--------------------------------------
Female Broadcaster: We are going to continue tonight’s broadcast with a young woman, known as a provocative ingénue, a Lo-li-ta
Male Broadcaster: Alizée, who blew a breath a fresh air on Varieté Française in 2000, thanks to her video, resembling a short film, by Mylène Farmer and her accomplice Laurent Boutonnat. At just 15 years old, the teenager from Ajaccio became an immense star, adored not just in France, but in Asia, and in Latin America.
FB: A star in bobby-socks, who took some time to grow up well, get married, have a baby, and finally, release a disc, with the maturity of 23 years old, and inclinations towards techno-rock, in short, in opposition to what came before. Guillaume took Daniel Dody and David Perschinksy to meet the new Alizée
Narrator: To be precise, it was 41 degrees outside. One could hope for better for making one’s return.
1. “Places, Alizée, places. Tony, you copy?”
Alizée: “Julien, you’ll give the starting signal. When I hear that I’ll…”
N: In spite of the weather, Alizée has a smile. Tonight, the young singer returns to the camera to record her first video in three years.
2: “Motor… Speed…”
N: The face is the same, but the little girl has grown up.
N: Finished with the devilish Lolita that ignited the year 2000, with her poses and ambiguous lyrics.
N: A product built from many pieces, by the singer Mylène Farmer, and the composer Laurent Boutonnat. In just a few months, a huge success
Presenter: “And the winner is… Alizée!”
N: Two million singles sold, a record for its time unequalled in France.
A: I have to thank my parents, above all, I thank you and dedicate this to you
N: At 15 years old, Alizée was an idol for 2 million fans.
N: Seven years later, the young woman has decided to emancipate herself. She left the Pygmalion Farmet and Boutonnat. With her friends, she produced her new disc.
N: A tiny manager of 23 years, she pays attention to every little detail. Like her dancers, for her taste, too revealingly dressed.
A: “The skirts… I like it like that, but not like that. That’s a bit too… a bit too…
N: To her tastes, it’s a bit too much like before
A: “It’s too Mylène Farmer, too revealing”
Julien: “I’ll see if I can find something a bit less revealing”
A: “Ok”
N: For her disc, Alizée chose lyricists and composers to create a more personal universe. She hopes to sell 100,000 copies.
N: During her absence, it was here to Ajaccio that the singer withdrew. In this city, where she was born.
Grandmother: “Yes, I live here”
N: In the streets, she meets her family. Her Grandmother, but also her Aunt.
A: “Hello Topaze”
N: And always, her friends.
A: “Hélène”
(various greetings)
A: “Hélène, my friend”
Hélène: “Hello, enchanted”
N: Hélène, her friend from her first dance lesson, has a playful heart
A: “There’s the school where I spent all my school years, and the high school, where I spent my last year before doing Graines de Stars.”
H: “The dance school, since we were tiny, was always very open. It was great to see one of our friends succeed like that, at 15 years old, it was awesome”
N: Because at the time, the Lolita phenomenon spread out from France, seducing Europe, South America, and Asia, for the foreign countries, Alizée recorded International Versions
N: In China, a show was dedicated to her. In Japan, she had a unique opportunity to record a television commercial for a brand of cookies, taking over for Catherine Deneuve.
N: But, after 4 years of such exhibitions, Alizée was ‘fed up,’ and felt the need to take a step back.
N: A big vacation, during which she was married, to Jérémy Chatelain, formerly of Star Academy. Together, they have a little girl, Annily. A big vacation, during which Marie-Joelle, her Grandmother, finally got a see Alizée again.
Voice: “The first moment where you saw her, what did you say?”
Grandmother: “I simply said that at this point, I’d stop. She had reason to, yes?”
V: “To take a little time?”
G: “Yes. She was so famous so young, happily, but that’s a lot to handle”
V: “So you suggested she stop and take some time off”
G: “Yes, exactly”
A: “To make the most of it”
G: “Yes, to make the most of it, and above all, for herself”
N: But today, it’s her return. A couple days before the release of her disc, she’s in a work session with her press attaché on the airplane that takes her back to Paris. Alizée has to pick photos, something that in her Farmer years, she didn’t do.
A: “The Japanese are fond of, well, like this is very original, the colors, originality, they love this. This one’s good”
N: Alizée’s desire is to show an image of her that’s more natural. But on the internet? Her change of style has been highly talked about this last month. Happening tonight in Paris, the record label is holding a fan session to test the reaction to the album.
Fan with hat: “It’s to find out what the fans think”
Voice: “They might not like it?”
F: “Well, maybe, but I’m optimistic”
Jessica: “Confident!”
F: “Confident, yes”
N: Above all, she wants to create a buzz around her new disc. They come from all around France, between the ages of 20 and 25. For the first song that’s played here, they know the lyrics by heart. For a few weeks, it’s been available for legal download on the internet. But for the rest? It’s a discovery.
J: “After that, I don’t know it, actually”
N: On the floor below, Alizée has arrived. For the first time, she sees her CD, just now published.
Voice: “And the other editions, here”
A: “Ah! Can I open it?”
V: “Of course. There are others”
N: “A little girl in front of her Christmas presents”
A: “Oh, I’m happy. I’m very very very happy”
N: A disc for which Alizée became producer, and is a little nervous to present to her fans. This time, the shy young girl drops the mask, and nurtures her audience too.
(Murmurings a propos something by Daniel Darc)
A: “…and at the same time, I love his album Crèvecoeur”
Fan with hat: “It’s different, because now, we’ve changed since we were Alizée fans, we’ve grown up, but Alizée isn’t the same either, she’s changed too. The new Alizée… she’s won me over.”
N: Her return to stores is hotly anticipated not just in France, in Mexico, too, Alizée’s on magazines.
A: “It’s fans that did this?
(Reads a couple of names from the magazine)
Voice: “This is something you’ve never seen?”
A: “Never, it’s cool”
A: “Let’s see, it sold for… twenty-five dollars!? No…”
Fans: “Mexican!”
A: “Oh yes, ok. I was gonna say!”
N: In one week, her disc will release at the same time in France and in Mexico. The thing her record label has already planned for the little Corsican? A concert at a soccer stadium(cuts off mid-word)

Damnit, I did the "edit" instead of "quote" thing again! /slaps self.
The Strasbourg thing isn't in a soccer stadium though, it's the innaugural concert for a new Zénith theatre (same theatre company as owns the place where En Concert was filmed - that's Zénith Paris).
I was a bit confused by it though, to be sure. I'm not sure what it refers to! The narration goes "un concert aux stade de foot|" and ends. That does work, in French, as "football" (soccer) is frequently shortened to just "foot." It sounds like he was continuing though, so I'm guessing it just would say "stade de football."
Seems like an odd venue. I'm wondering if perhaps it's a performance in association with some game? The equivalent of the half-time show for American football? ::shrug::
Thanks Cooney, awesome! BTW, how big is Strasbourg?
The Zénith Strasbourg will be able to take up to 10,000 people, depending on configuration.

It may not literally mean soccer stadium, but a venue of that size. Les Enfoirés is being held at the Zénith de Strasbourg this year, so it has got to be huge.

Some feedback from one of AF's French members, Cooney:
The translation seems accurate.
The only missing point I could detect is the name of her school in Ajaccio. It's "Lycée Fesch".
Awesome, thanks! Glad to hear I was able to do alright on that one, I always doubt my abilities at taking it by ear.
I was in fact wondering what the hell that word was... the name of the school. No wonder I couldn't find anything remotely appropriate in my dictionary!
That gives me the confidence to put it in subtitle form, I'm on it! Just finished dinner at 17h58... first meal I ate all day. I've been too excited, and glued to my headphones. Was wondering why my stomach hurt until I thought about it :-P
that's great. it would be even better if she would sing songs from her first 2 albums. is there a possibility despite her changing labels?
She is going to sing songs from her first two albums. And be prepared for a surprise on Dec 7th!

What is the sticker resembling anyway? :p
It is the emblem of the Corsican independance movement (possibly it is a more general symbol of Corsica).

Here's the actual flag of Corsica:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Flag_of_Corsica.svg
And a bit of history about it:
The Testa di Moru, the black Moor's head on a white background forms the national flag of Corsica. The Moor's head with a white bandeau was adopted by Pasquale Paoli in 1762 as the official emblem of independent Corsica. It was inherited from the kings of Aragon, who were invested with Corsica by the Pope in the Middle Ages. Four Moors heads became the arms of Sardinia after the Aragonese conquest and, with a cross of St George separating them, they remain the national flag of the neighbouring island. The Aragonese never conquered Corsica, but they claimed it as their own. It first appeared in Corsica in 1573 in an atlas showing the lands of Philip II.
The bandeau originally blindfolded the eyes of the Moor, while it is now raised to his forehead. There are those who see its removal as a symbol of freedom from slavery. There are others, who claim that it dates from the time of the Saracen invasions and the Corsicans' habit of decapitating the moors. King Theodore, who also made use of this symbol in 1736, strangely had the bandeau covering the eyes.
When Sir Gilbert Elliot was created Baron Minto, after his two years as Viceroy of Corsica [1794-96], he included the Moor's head on his personal coat of arms. If you want to buy a Corsican flag, go to Corsica Shop (and look under the heading 'various Corsican objects'!). For an interesting article on the flag's origins go to Accademia Corsa.
