After having listened to the entire versions of all of the songs, which is your favorite one?
By the way, if you haven't heard the complete versions, you can listen to them by visiting Alizée's Myspace. http://www.myspace.com/alizeeofficiel

hehe i was about to make a poll like this...
i'm still trying to decide... but PLP has shot up in the ranks since the full version's release. also, i'm pretty big on lonely liste right now. i'm not as big on JP as before, and although MTD and Psychedelices are much better in entirety, they're not enough to make it my favorites. i'm somewhat puzzled as to why fifty-sixty hasn't changed at all (to my knowledge). anyways, i'll come back when i'm ready to vote.

LilyTown... A nice and energetic song =)
Par les Paupières... i don't know why, but i compare it to Linkin Park's 'Numb' =D

I have to say Mon Taxi Driver, because I'm absolutely in love with the verses of the song (not so much the chorus)

My god, it's so hard to pick!
After a single listen, forcing myself not to go back and play any again, I went with Par Les Paupieres. The opening music really made me sit up and take notice. I wasn't willing to hit "can't decide," although that's what I should say, the whole album is pretty incredible.
If I didn't pick PLP, I'd have picked probably Idealiser or L'Effet. That said, there are at least 5 songs I could put as favorites - Par Les Paupieres, Lilly Town, Idealiser, L'Effet, or Fifty-Sixty. For PLP, it's the opening music. For Lilly Town, it's the playfulness and fun. For Idealiser, its her voice that blows me away. For L'Effet, it's the sincerity, and the demonstration of great skill in another genre. For Fifty-Sixty, it's awesome driving music.
I like everything else as well, though. Décollage with be my least listened to, as I don't generally listen to rap at all, but I actually don't dislike it. Psychédélices, Jamais Plus, Mon Taxi Driver, and Lonely List all are good too, I'll listen to them lots! MJ I love, and it's interesting to note they have reinserted one of the ahhh-ahhh lines that was removed between first leak and digital release, so it matches the video. Jamais Plus I could see connections with her love of Madonna, definitely the style of some Madonna songs. MTD is telling a story... I think my appreciation of it will grow when I fully understand it. I believe it was about taking a taxi to go see one's beloved, but don't quote me on that. Lonely List sounded like something she'd be singing/saying to her husband.
Ahhhh! So much goodness!
---Edit---
It's worth noting, for those who haven't heard them yet, that the sound on every track is now more refined than those 30 second clips from a couple days ago. Every last one of them! AAAAHHHHH!

i'm trying to decide between lonely liste, decollage, and l'effet.
okay, i'm going with lonely liste. :)
are there any other decollage fans here?? it seems like most people are not fond of her rapping, but i think it's an awesome song.
it's a really solid album. i am so proud of her!

It's not that I'm not fond of her rapping, it's rap in general I dislike. I actually find her version far more tolerable than almost anything else of the genre :-)
An interesting note on Idéaliser. I'm fairly certain the line that was previously reported is "une passé brisé paré Alizée qui n'est plus la" (A broken past decorated in Alizée, who isn't there) is actually "une passé brisé par réalisé qui n'est plus la" (A past broken by the realization of who isn't there). I had my suspicions before, and now hearing the song fully, I'm almost certain of it.

Once Psychédélices has been out for a couple months (but not before, people need time to adjust, reflect, and get to know the new songs) we'll need to have a new "What's you favorite song of Alizée" poll that includes all three albums ;)

I just have to say I really enjoyed the album. I really liked Mon Taxi Driver, Jamais Plus, and Idealiser. I also liked L'Effet although I don't think it is the best song. There wasn't really a song I didn't like. My favorite is Lilly Town though, it is just really catchy and up-beat, I love it.

To think I thought her third album would be her last. After hearing the full album, I have to say her career isn't ending -- it's only beginning to take off.
Like a ROCKET.
WARNING: Weird analogies approaching!
The song I voted for as my favorite is Par Les Paupières. I love everything about it: the soundscape, which sparkles like an icy mist in the air; the gently driving percussion; the verses, the chorus, the part in-between the verses and the chorus (despite having a musical background, I'm illiterate when it comes to its terminology) -- hell, I even like the bubbly siren at the end, and how it rubberbands with the ebb and flow of the fadeout.
This song made me cry, macho man that I am. I don't understand French, but the emotion on display here, coupled with the cosmic chills I get from the music, makes my imagination go wild. It makes me think of snowy landscapes, the meaning of life and death, good and evil, the existence of God, all these things, even though I know the lyrics don't deal with any of them. But the spirit of the song says all those things to me, making me feel smaller than an atom and grander than a galaxy at the same time.
Amazing, amazing song. I'm sorry to make you all endure such hyperbole, but I need to vent my feelings somewhere, and this seemed as suitable a place as any. It's premature to say, but I think this is my favorite Alizée song ever.
Scary part is, I can gush on and on about the rest of the songs too, but I'll spare you.
And I honest-to-god love everything about Decollage. So friggin' awesome. And Mon Taxi Driver and Lilly Town -- WOW! They surprised me the most because I didn't like the samples, but in full I can tell they'll be big fan favorites and huge concert hits, and they deserve all the buzz they get. I love 'em both. And the titular Psychédélices -- again, WOW! It has all the style and sensibility of film noir, all the rich darkness and exotic mystery of the best pulps, with great piano, violins and effects. If the video isn't black-and-white and set in 1930s New York, I will climb to the top of a very tall building and yell, "Missed opportunity!!"
I only covered half the album, but I need to stop myself before I hyperventilate. :D I love every single song on this album. EVERY ONE OF THEM. Amazing.

I'm going to have to wait at least a week before I can vote in this poll. Wow!
Right now I have Idealiser playing, and while I like the music better in some other songs, her voice sounds absolutely FANTASTIC! What a showcase for her range and clarity!
This is going to be really, really hard, and I know if I decide now I'll change my mind later.

That's correct, according to the digital booklet from VirginMega.fr. If I have time before the trip, I'll try to type up everything from there (lyrics + full credits).

No, you're not. I'm not prepared yet to say it's the best, but I think it's in the running IMO. I will say (and not just because I'm her fan) that Alizée herself is the best thing on this album.

Fifty-Sixty, it's awesome driving music.
Absolutely, great driving music, and a great song all around. As stated before, great single material.
I have restrained myself from listening to the album until all of my college applications are done - it's great motivation to get my essays done, but all of y'all's hype and excitement is killing me!
Lonely List is at the top of my, um, list. I feel Darc dropped the ball a bit with Jamais Plus, but this is classic stuff.

It's understandable why it's hard for most people to pick a favorite. These songs are magnificent! I'm proud that Lili is making such a beautiful comeback on her own. The songs are all so good, each in their own way. It's definitely a good time to be an Alizée fan.

I think I've made up my mind, though it could very well change within a few months.
Par les Paupières is absolute bliss. The beat on which the song and Alizée's voice float carries the song from the beginning to end. The lyrics, too, are magnificent and have significant meaning behind them. Lili's voice is simply perfect when she sings "Ca passe paaaaas par un masque avec les mots d'hier/Ca passe paaaaas par un regard caché sous les paupières."
All of the songs, though, could very easily be turned into singles. There are so many which I already love, but Par les Paupières is just the one which sticks out the most, and I'm not sure why. ;)

I decided not to vote for a favorite song. Instead I’ll comment on the whole album. As I said before, Alizée’s singing is the best thing on this album IMO. These are not “phone it in” performances. She has crafted her vocal performances and done extensive background work as well. She obviously worked very hard on this project and it shows. She’s come a long way.
I find the slower songs to be more interesting musically and quite moving. The more upbeat songs are catchy and have nice grooves going, but they are not as imaginative or original musically. Most people won’t care about that though, because the songs are still appealing. I think the mixing sounds good and the song selection gives a nice variety.
All in all, I think Alizée has created the album she set out to create, and in my opinion it is an excellent album and a huge accomplishment. There isn’t a song on it I don’t like or that I would skip over when listening to it. And Alizée has never sounded better.

Ya know, it's a great testament to this album, that out of just 25 votes, 9 different songs have been picked. That, and I've already seen people in other threads proclaiming the remaining two as their favorites.
If you look at most albums, and ask people who've bought it what their favorite is, I don't think we'd see nearly so diverse a spread!
Good job Lili!

For what it's worth, Psychedelices and Decollage are in my top five rotation right now. I could only vote for one, however, so Paupières got the nod. And I'm happy to see Paupières is climbing the Alizée America power-charts, because it deserves the acclaim.
On another note, I've always adamantly resisted admiring Alizée as a person, saying that we couldn't "know" her by her music. Well, with this new album I'm beginning to revise that opinion. Songs like Psychedelices, Par les Paupières, Idéaliser and L'effet have so much raw feeling in them that in one sitting, Alizée the Manufactured Image has become Alizée the Living Breathing Person. You can feel her love for her family, her fear of failure, her hope for the future, her pain and elation and everything in-between, all in her music, all at the same time.
These songs just feel more personal to me. I don't know how else to describe it.

Snatcher's instincts proved correct in my case and I went with Par les paupieres for favorite all-round. But I must say, now that I've heard the whole album that I just love every single track on the album. Of course, I like some more than others, but I think every one has somethign unique, special, and good to bring to the eclectic mix that is Psychédélices. The biggest surprise for me was Décollage; it just got the biggest kick out of listening to our Lili in it. While some songs brought a tear to my eye with their beauty, Décollage just left me grinning from ear to ear. I having a wonderful time :p

The album is great, but there just isn't anything in there to match Gourmandises. Perhaps next time?
I've listened to this album almost exclusively if I've been near my computer/conscious for the past 20 hours, and no one song is coming out as a frontrunner. Madamoiselle Juliette, Fifty Sixty, Psychedelices, Mon Taxi Driver, Lilly Town, PLP, are the best for me, but its so close between them all that I just can't bring myself to pick a top song.

you would probably have to wait for the next MF album to have any chance of hearing such LB style piano like that, and even that's not a guarantee. i think it's safe to assume alizée's style is now pop-electro-rock although i guess the ballads always leave a chance for piano, the days of gourmandiese style piano riff seem to be long gone. :o

yea, it's really hard picking out a favorite because it's bound to keep changing since the album is full of quality songs.

I woke up this morning to L'effet rattling around in my head. I love the "tinkling" sound in the background, like wind chimes made of popsicle sticks. It sounds like running water at times, sifting sand at others. The song makes you feel all warm and cuddly, like a baby in Alizée's arms. I think this song might become one of my favorites.

To me Idealiser is the best song for now. Perhaps with time my mind will change, but as of now this is it. It just has everything I want to hear from Alizee in a song. Great melody, great voice, and emotion. Someone at AF earlier said that this one is similar to Tempete. I didn't think of it that way at first, but they're right. It gives off a very similar feel. Much emotion and a degree of sadness in the melody.

I really think Psychédélices is getting the short end of the stick this time in the voting. I think it's wonderful. To me, musically, it's a study in dischordance in the verse, which comes into resonant focus (which is emphasized with the use of strings) in the beautiful chorus. It's like someone put a blur effect on a keleidescope and then it comes into focus as a meadow of wildflowers and a clear blue sky. At least that's the imagery that comes to my mind. I LOVE it.

I wouldn't worry about it. These are all just first impressions mostly. Psychédélice is growing on me too, but I wouldn't put it as my favorite, not even in my top 5 just yet. It's a unique song and something of an acquired taste for some fans. We should do another poll in a couple months. The results may very well be different.

Psychedelices is a fine tune but it suffers from the same problem as Idealiser imo. A very promising start, verse and vocals but the chorus fails to deliver. No real buildup in the refrain which sounds a bit monotonous. She also said L'effet is a favourite. I have to agree with her there, the song flows beautifuly like paint on canvas.

I kind of agree with this. I feel there's something missing around the line "jusqu'à l'hallali", like an extra echo of that last word or something. Maybe I'm being too picky. It's still an awesome song, my favoirite of the ballads. Idealiser's great too, I don't have a problem with its chorus, but overall the I find it less unique and creative than Psychedelices. L'effet is also really good, it's got a bit more swing, groove, and pace than I was expecting.

I still miss something dramatic and passionate like Hey!Amigo or even Amelie for instance. There is a jazzy and laid back feel to most of the songs and I kinda wish there was a chance for Alizee to pour more emotion and soul into them. Some parts feel almost like background music, not really demanding your attention. However one can appreciate this too, it sounds sincere, less cheesy and pretendious. More close to the reserved and down to earth Alizee indeed.

I don't doubt it, but then I do think she meant it too. There's a lot to be proud of in this song. It's different, creative, flows. It's got her hubby doing two of the things he loves most (DJing and playing piano), full strings, and some of Jean Fauque's most complex lyrics. It's so good they named the album after it! :p

What a coinkydink (read: coincidence). I read this while listening to the MySpace album and Psychédélices began playing. The version on MySpace has a glitch in the latter half of the song (I've noticed it on two separate computers; something must've went awry when they uploaded it), but it doesn't detract from the magic of the song at all. A testament to its power, I suppose.
And I've said it before and I'll say it again: Music video. 1930s Chicago. Black and white. Noir. YES.

For as much praise as we're giving Psychédélices, no one has voted for it yet.

I suppose the most scientific way of addressing this phenomenon is to say Psychédélices is like a ninja, but Par Les Paupières and Lily Town are like ninjas flying through space on robo-ligers.
They're both awesome, but... Well, y'know. Ligers!

If I voted right now, Psychédélices would be it. But as said, I don't want to vote yet.

Yes you do. You're just being silly.

I worry Lili's words may have swayed me too much. ;)
My top four tracks in no particular order are Mademoiselle Juliette, Psychédélices, Par les Paupières, and Lonely Liste. When I do vote it will be for one of them.

I almost cried when I heard the samples for this album. I thought it sucked and Lily would not be able to make any more music when this album bombed.
Then I heard the full songs on her myspace page and changed my mind completely. Par Les Paupieres is one of her best songs ever. I rank it right up there with Coeur déjà pris, my all time favorite. I hope she makes it into a single.
Of course the rest of the songs are good too. I would have a hard time picking my #2 favorite.
What the hell were they thinking with those terrible samples!? Brad needs to go over all these posts and remove all those links before anyone else hears them. lol

(IMHO) To my ears, Par les Paupières and Idéaliser are edging Fifty Sixty and Mademoiselle Juliette. So, at this point, my vote is for Par les Paupières. But, like all her music, each song has their "je ne sais quoi" that you can not help but like them all in their own rights.
I don't know because I haven't heard the whole album yet.

hi
I would say
1) l'effet because it's a charming song dedicated to her daughter, la sua musica toca l'anima just like salieri's comment about mozart
I love the double sense of l'effet mère/l'éphémère too
2) fifty/sixty for the fresh rythm plus cool lyrics about the 60's, well, the vision of the 60's she has
3) décollage, well, because it surprised me, unable to say if it's a good or bad song though, but it's definitely surprising
voilà
cheers
I just listened to Idealiser and I really really love it. I am 'moved' by it actually.

It's not a matter of dislike. They are all good songs. But if you only vote once, like I did, you vote for the one that moves you the most. ;)

Lol, this is a bit funny. People stating countless times about their extreme enjoyment of certain songs, yet there are no votes for them. Just look at Decollage, where are your votes people? :D

I'll just go ahead and connect with:
http://www.last.fm/music/Alizee
...go down the list adding to my Playlist, Log In, and go ahead and listen to the entire album. All I had to do was register, and it's for free anyways, and off I went. Still going to get the CD as well though.

2. Jamias Plus
3. Lilly Town
4. Fifty Sixty
5. Idealiser
6. Lonely Liste
7. Mon Taxi Driver
8. Psychedelices
9. L'effet
10. Mademoiselle Juliette
11. Decollege

Yep me too. I waited so long, I forgot about this thread. Still tough to answer. I've got to go with Par Les Paupieres (PLP). It reminds me of L'e-mail a des ailes. Maybe it's the tempo and the delicate vocals. I can hear them sneaking in The Cure inspiration in the beginning and end of this track. Basically, I can't wait to get to tracks 7, 8, and 9 when someone who's never heard of Alizee gets into my car.
...Lilly Town for the up tempos.

That's funny. I love both PLP and L'e-mail a des ailes, but never thought of them as similar like that. I could only be mentioning this b/c I've been drinking tonight, but still, I love both those songs. I voted for PLP.

My favorite is Lily Town.... so far. But that's probably because I've been listening to it a Lot lately. Maybe it'll change in a couple of weeks. Anyway, I voted for Lily town;)

Yeah, that's my problem. My favorite keeps changing from week to week!
I'm one of those that can't decide. :p I like all the songs better the more I listen to them.
