I'm leaving tomorrow for Alizee's autograph session in Paris on monday. I'm not very sure about how well she speaks english and I was hoping to give her an autograph book to sign with a breif message in it. I don't speak french and I had e mailed a former coworker asking him to do it but so far I haven't heard from him. Is there anyone out there who could translate a short message for me if I e mailed it to them. Right now I have to run out and help my brother in law pick up a new reclining chair but will be back around 3 pm EST. If someone could help me out, I'd deeply appreciate it.
Thanks

Yes, make sure to meet with with Cooney, Snatcher42, et. al. They posted where they're staying at AF:
Best Western Empire Elysees
800-346-8357
3 Rue De Montenotte
Paris, FR
Several of them speak French and can help you out.

This is supposed to be a fairly accurate online translator, as follows: e-promt.com/ .
Or you could use Google Translator function; sometimes it translates into 'psychobabble"... go to google.com/ then select 'Language Tools", google.com/language_tools?hl=en , then follow the instructions.
Both are at least useful for simple phrases. You could test them with known accurately translated phrases to see if they are acceptable to you. If so, transfer your chosen phrases to paper or electronic format.
Good luck and happy travels.

The message I wanted translated was as follows,
Good evening ( beacause it will be about 7 at night there.)
I came all the way from the U.S.A. just to see you and possibly get your autograph. I would like to thank you for all the enjoyment you've brought into our lives. If you go on tour again, please consider coming to our country.
Thank You

My freind in L.A. finally e mailed me with the translation. I'll post it just in case anyone is interested.
Je suis venu specialement des Etats-Unis juste pour vous voir et obtenir votre Autographe. J'aimerais vous remercier pour toute la joie que vous amenéz dans nos vies. Si vous allez en tournée encore, s'il vous plaît considérer venir à notre Pays,
surtout Boston.
Merci
They surtout Boston meant especially Boston which I had tacked on to the end of the origional message but I think I'll leave that out because it seems to not go with the flow of the message, if you know what I mean.

Bonsoir Alizée,
Je suis venu des Etats-Unis exprès pour te voir et peut-être avoir ton autographe. Je voudrais te remercier pour toute la joie que tu nous a fait connaître. Si tu vas faire encore une tournée, pense à venir à notre pays s'il te plaît.
Merci.
That's the best I could do. I'm not exactly sure how to translate "all the way" in the first sentence, so I didn't include it (for now). Perhaps someone could help me with that. :)

Don't capitalize "pays," otherwise it's good. :)
All the way = toute la distance?

I would translate it by :
Bonsoir Alizée,
J'ai fais le voyage des Etats-Unis exprès pour te rencontrer (or voir) et avoir éventuellement la chance d'obtenir un autographe...
Je voudrais te remercier pour toute la joie que tu apportes dans nos vies. Si tu entreprends une nouvelle tournée, rien ne nous ferait autant plaisir que tu passes également par les Etats-Unis.
I think it's good like that ;)

hi
you can add at the end of the message
"creda me, un hè miccà una macagna..."
I think she'll understand ;)
you can add something like: please stop trying to hide your corsican accent, we all love it in the states :)
for the french message you can simplify if you want:
"je suis venu des états-unis pour avoir le plaisir de te rencontrer, mon plus grand bonheur serait d'avoir un autographe signé de ta main.
Je voudrais te remercier pour toute la joie que tu apportes dans nos vies... this one is ok
notre rêve à tous serait de te voir un jour sur scène chez nous aux états unis, j'espère que tu n'oublieras pas tes nombreux fans d'outre atlantique lors de ta prochaine tournée mondiale"
it should work
cheers
great idea!
good luck, i wish i was going!!

Ah, but now the question is, does Alizée speak/understand Corsu? ;)
She'd surely get a kick out of it even if she doesn't, though. :)

I think it would be a great compliment to her even if she doesn't really know it.

Even if it's just french and no corsican I'm sure she will appreciate the effort...

I think Alizée will be surprised when she meets Americans who flew all the way from the USA to Paris just to get her autograph.
By the way, it's nice to see you posting here again, oO°TiNkErBeLL°Oo !

She already knows they're coming. I'm reasonably sure she's seen it posted here, and anyway I told her on her MySpace. I'm sure she's pleased, though.

I shouldn't have used the word "surprised", because I'm sure she does know of their plans. But having them actually show up for real and meeting them should make her quite pleased. I'm sure our ambassadors will represent us well, once they regain consciousness...:D

she does, it's a co official language here, kids have to learn it at school
I know there are online translators but I don't think the result will be that good
"toc de mac" is kinda french, not corsican
ppl from ajaccio use french words even when they speak corsican, just like slang
don't forget "alizée hè una zitella di u borgu" her family has always lived here
her real accent is like her friend's in the program " 7 à 8 ", the one who used to take dance lessons with her
voilà
cheers
