Tomorrow, Alizée is going to be on La Méthode Cauet, of which the host is Cauet. LMT is a very juvenile show, but this could be a good thing, since Alizée is a little juvenile herself. Cauet is a friend of Jérémy.

Merci à Spirit for these image captures of the preview:

No, not that kind of juvenility, it's just playful and a little childish.

Hey guys, we're back. So there should be videos of this soon! FirstSeb already posted on Dailymotion, but they've been removed from there, and an avi but it has audio sync issues.

Edit: Here are 46 HDtv captures by Rozebud (Bigdan posted some of these in the pictures thread). I asked him about the video, but dunno if he'll upload it.

What did she say about a second child?

I think I'm speaking for every person that don't know French on this board: we need subtitles! :) If someone could make this happen, I would be forever grateful.

By the way, can someone explain the part with the giant iPod (Alizée pressed on a button and some music started playing). What was that all about?

I'd be happy to, except that I'm going to be busy for the next few days, so somebody else will probably do it before me.

The idea of the giant iPod was that Cauet would ask Alizée a question, and her answer would be given for her in the form of a song line that she hadn't chosen. The important parts were the reactions that she made :p

They asked her if she would like more kids. She responded; "Yes 1 more. Maybe after the tour"
But "after the tour" could also mean another 5 years.:p

Ok thanks for the answers espire and Just a Guest.

I'm not surprised she wants more children, but so soon? If 'after the tour' means the tour this fall, isn't that a bit early? I'd prefer her to release a fourth album before taking another break (well, duh).

A baby almost certainly means a 2 year break before releasing the next album, provided that she doesn't work during the pregnancy and immediately starts working after giving birth (which isn't realistic to begin with).

Well, to be honest she answered in an open way...
Sort of, I don't know, maybe after the tournee.

Can mean anything.
It will also depend probably how her carreer will do in the near future I guess.

Yeah, I kind of understood that, but it still shows us that she's thinking about it and that it will probably happen sometime in the future.

A Francophone will have to verify this, but I think that the red device on her finger was some sort of lie detector and the colored scale was supposed to indicate if she was telling the truth.

Well, there's an answer as for sales - that was a gold disc for Psychédélices she was presented with.
As mentioned before, it seems to have gone gold on the day of release because it's based on the number of albums sent to stores, not sales ("disque d'or pour 75 000 exemplaires mis en vente"). Yeah, seems kinda screwy, I dunno. Guess they figure those units will shift eventually.

1. Who was that Tiffany girl that makes a brief appearance at the start? What was she doing there, other than put that thing on Alizée's finger?

That wasn't even a Brit :-P That was somebody from a non-English speaking country who learned English (fluently, but with an accent) from somebody who spoke British English themselves. To be honest, she sounded like a Frenchwoman herself (French who speak fluent English tend to have British accents, as that's where their teachers mostly learned or came from).

If there's a French transcription of this, I'll be happy to translate it ASAP. It was a very fun and relaxed interview, and she was clearly having fun, but because it was so casual it was also harder to understand! I understood most of the ideas behind the questions and answers, but couldn't tell you the exact words used to transmit them. I'm still trying to figure out what it was she said he favorite insult was... "[something] de la lune" - moon-something. It wasn't "con comme la lune," which is a phrase, but something else starting with a hard C sound.

Alizée was so natural and cute throughout the whole thing :-P They certainly did a good job making her blush, but she gave nearly as good as she got - especially when the Jérémy and Mylène impersonation was presented, and she started telling them they had to dance and move their arms. :-P It struck me as an adult version of the old FunTV interviews, where she was so at ease.

One question concerning Jeremy? Could they have used a better picture of the guy where he doesn't look like something the cat dragged in out of the rain.

Other than that, Alizée looked great and relaxed. At the end she looked like she was having a blast. I thought when the guy dressed like Mylene started singing she was going to have tears running down her face she was laughing so hard. You can see at one point where her her eyes look like they are starting to well up.

I don't see how that Jeremy-photo is any better than his almost falling-out like pants everytime you see him. I'm sure Alizee didn't choose him for fancy style. :D
Fun TV was more domestic, but for me Alizee seems new with every interview, like I never know her well enough. I am sure everyone loves her, she's well educated, modest, warm and enchanting throughout.
I bow to her originality and simplicity of the heart.
Jeremy must be cool too, he just can't be a lout to meet such a girl like Alizee on his fate road.

It sounds like she is saying "couillant de la lune," but that doesn't make any sense. "Couiller" apparently means "faire une erreur." (http://www.dico-des-mots.com/definitions/couiller.html)

I believe the phrase was "couillon de la lune." Although the word "couillon" has a vulgar original meaning, it apparently is now used widely to mean "imbecile" or "airhead." According to Word Reference:

"It originates in the South of France. Now it's spread all over the country and beyond. Mind you, it's hardly ever vulgar or insulting. Personally, I'd rather be called a 'couillon' ('daft one') than a 'con' ('moron')."

Can't give you the URL as this is my first post.

Haha, that was the point :-P They were trying to make Alizée react by presenting slightly silly versions of things, hence their choice of that photo. Her comment when they popped it up was to say something like "Haha, these are loaded photos!" She also commented that Jérémy is now clean-shaven.

That's the one! Once TDM posted that initial vowel set, I found it in my dictionary. Sounds like the full translation of Couillon de la Lune would be something like "Looney Airhead" or possibly something like the old term "Space-case." Insults never translate quite right :-P

A year is a long time... it's quite easy to shave off one's beard in a year. As a matter of fact, it only takes a couple minutes!

Well, "clean-shaven" is a relative term. I recall a professor that I had in college who was constantly a bit bearded, and when I remarked about it to someone, the response was "??? He's clean-shaven...". But what was meant is that he "did not deliberately maintain a beard"; however, he only managed to find the wherewithal to shave once every few weeks.

Deepwaters

I suppose. But I've been bearded in the past and I'm currently not, and either state meets with acceptance. The in-between phase has generally provoked comparisons to coarse sandpaper, though, along with demands that I resort to a razor. Immediately. On pain of -- no, never mind, that's TMI.

Perhaps I've been conditioned.

Not being French or having an ear for accents and dialects, I always wondered how Corsican accents differ from, say, a Parisian one. I remember reading that Napoleon got teased for his, too, and didn't really know what the difference was. If I heard Lili talking and another French woman talking (from a different area), my English-biased ears wouldn't hear an accent difference.

Deepwaters
01-15-2008, 11:43 AM
I can hear the difference in the interviews between Alizée's speech and that of the interviewer, which I assume is in schooled Parisian French. Alizée's French is a bit more slurred together, not quite as crisp, and has more of a roll to the r sound.

I missed Cauet teasing her about it. They were talking so fast it was very hard for me to follow. I'll have to watch it again a few times.

yep, the guy got a typically parisian accent and it's true he speaks too fast, those ppl are called "titi parisien" there
it's just like the "cockney" accent in london
the guy works in a radio station mostly, that's probably why he speaks so fast
I lived in the south of france and paris and many ppl asked me what part of corsica I came from, I suppose it's easy to recognize the corsican accent for an ordinary french
I'm glad to hear alizée doesn't seem to have an accent though, actually I should say the same because her accent is just like mine ;)

Hehe, I saw that :-P It sounded like he specifically reacted to how she says "à Ajaccio." I listened to it a couple times and could hear only a slight difference, but I'm sure to a francophone it must be quite distinct. In American English I can tell some accents apart down to specific states and even specific cities, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

What does get me though is how many different accents there are in France, an area smaller than some individual states here. I could understand one or two, but there seem to be dozens of distinct ones that natives can hear - same goes for the UK. Some day I hope to be a good enough speaker to hear them as well :-)

I thought the sequence in the beginning where he got a kiss out of her was funny, especially after she'd resolved to do it and was standing there all puckered up and he went right on babbling about something or other. I was like, "Dude, shut up and kiss her before she changes her mind!" :D

Cauet is from Picardie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picardie), in northern part of France, and he has still got a bit of a Picard accent. Which is quite different from the old working class Parisian accent A.C. was refering to.
Two interesting articles (in both French and English) about accents :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picard_language
http://french.about.com/library/listening/bllg-accents-translation.htm
And for my Parisian ears Alizée doesn't have any noticeable accent (at least when she answers to journalists). It might be different when she's at home in Ajaccio...

hi
her accent is called "the corsican accent", southern one, ppl from the north of the island got a heavier one
well, it should be wise to remind that I live here ;)
it's obvious that she tries to hide it but it's easy to recognize, even for non corsican ppl (see the host)
basically corsicans got an accent when they speak french for an obvious reason: their mother tongue is completely different from french, unlike french ppl who speak more or less the same language except basques, bretons and alsaciens of course
I'm not into french stuff but I've never heard about a particular picardie accent, cauet's is typically parisian

I'd say that this goes for everywhere; New York is a good example of this. I'm Canadian, and a Brooklyn accent stands out even for me. A native of New York will surely be able to tell easily what district of NYC a person comes from.

I can easily tell in Toronto that a person is from Montréal by the way that they pronounce Rs (completely Anglophone ones, at that, who might not know French or live in an area where French is ever spoken). The same goes for Ottawa, though this is because of the pronunciation of long vowels. You can also tell that somebody is from Toronto by the way that they slur words (similar to Parisian accents; could this simply be because of the busier environment?).

From such examples, I would guess that any area has its own distinct accent, though of course the ones most oblivious to it are the onces with the accents.

The Corsican accent is distinct because Corsica is more or less isolated from France, making it a sort of in-bred accent.

hi
I met three guys from boulder CO on the ferry between bastia and marseille once and they said many ppl on radios and tv stuff came from colorado because locals speak a english without accent
fact is I thought they were english when I heard them speaking together
french from the south got more or less the same accent, the area from pyrénées mountains to the italian border is called occitanie, basically a guy from toulouse could understand another guy from marseille or nice, they both speak occitan with other sublanguages like nissarte or provençal
there's a part of an italian regione called piemonte where locals speak a language close to the occitan, they say they're part of occitanie too
it's difficult to link us or canadian accents to french ones, an american guy pretended "cajun" french was difficult to understand for a french from france
well, first of all "cajun" is insulting, the correct word is acadien
as a corsican my french is everything but perfect, however I talked with a girl from lafayette La and her french was just like the one ppl speak in france, with a different accent for sure but it was french
another experience with a guy from monroe parrish La, the guy was black/native mixed and same result: he spoke french

This is reasonable, mainly because of the way English was brought to the current geographic area of the US. It was brought by waves of immigrants over a short period of time (especially westward, where large areas were settled in ~100 years), and during a time when mobility became much higher (e.g., with railroads and etc.)

Regional accents often develop by gradual divergence of the spoken language between speech communities with limited contact, which is why so many distinct accents developed in, say, England (and presumably France in the same way).

ok in three parts - plus link to download and convert to avi.

part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adqdo...eature=related

part 3

cut and paste each link into this:

it will give you link to download avi file. its a bit slow PLUS often it downloads like 200kb in two seconds but ends. so just reclick the link and when you name it just click the partial file it already downloaded. sounds confusing but when you do it you will know. THNKs garcon for translating! or whoever!! : )

Just an update on translation progress. I'm up to the 10:43 mark, and have to stop for the night. It's taking me about 10 minutes per minute of video to write out and check, though that's mostly due to a couple phrases that are just killing me :-P I'll cruise through a couple minutes of video with no issues at all, and then spend 20 minutes listening to the same sentence over and over, trying to suss out the meaning. About half the time I'll get it, and the other half I just have been putting down my best guess and eventually moving on :-P

Hopefully I can cap it off tommorrow night. I'll post it as soon as it's done and see if I can find a Francophone to give me a hand on the phrases that are sticking me.

Cauet: And now, for the first time, Alizée is with us!

(applause)

Cauet: Hello, how about a little kiss? A no! Excuse me... What's the tradition at the start of the year? When you give kisses for the start of the year? Under the mistletoe!

Cecile: Ah yes...

Cauet: Ah yes

Cecile: And where's the mistletoe?

Cauet: Aaah! There's the mistletoe! The mistletoe! Bring it down, come, come, Stop! This, this is a good mistletoe!

Cecile: Ha, it's Spielburg doing this broadcast

Cauet: Incredible, eh? It's the floating mistletoe! Ah well, happy new year

Alizée: Happy new year

Cecile: The style is on the lips, when under the mistletoe!

Cauet: Well yes, but she's married. On the other hand, it brings bad luck if we don't!

Cecile: I think she'll sell more discs

Cauet: Ah, well, it's true, it's tradition to do it that way

Cecile: It can be really quick, won't take but a moment!

Cauet: It isn't easy for me either!

Cecile: Go! Make yourself do it!

Cauet: One, two, three!

Cecile: Ahhh!

(applause)

Cauet: Have a seat. Up! Raise the mistletoe! You'll have a very good year!

Cauet: So, welcome to our show, for the very first time

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: It's your big comeback, we'll be talking about that in a moment, about your return, your vacation, your album

Cecile: A three year vacation!

Cauet: In a moment, we'll check out the new song from Alizé'e album, but first we have to put on the sensor. And today, to put on the sensor, we have a young woman, we change each show, to tell us how to say "happy new year" in different countries. First off, hello mademoiselle

Tiffany: Hi

Cauet: Hiii. Where do you come from?

Tiffany: I come from America

Cauet: She comes the the United States of America, I'll translate for those who don't speak English

(laughter)

Cecile: She arrived around 20 hours ago

Cauet: The other side (then repeated in English)

Tiffany: Oh, I'm sorry

Cauet: No problem... alright, very good. Your name, what is it?

Tiffany: Tiffany

Cauet: Tiffany. How old are you?

Tiffany: I'm twenty-two

Cauet: I'm twenty-two! Very young, oh yes.

Cecile: She's of age!

Cauet: Yeeeeess

Tiffany: I am

Cauet: How do I say "Happy new year" in American (Then repeated in English)?

Tiffany: "Happy new year"

Cauet: Ah yes, how silly of me. Ok. Happy new year!

Tiffany: Happy new year

Cecile: There's something after?

Tiffany: I wish you all the best for the new year 2008

Cauet: Woah woah woah! I wish you all the best for the new year 2008

Tiffany: Thank you very much

Cauet: Alright. Thank you

Cecile: Are you an American?

Cauet: Yes, on the inside. Thank you very much! Bye.

(applause)

Cauet: Alizée is with us! Give a hand for her single, Mademoiselle Juliette, and her album!

(applause)

Cauet: We're going to see, in a few moments, an extract from the video. The album released the third of last December. Now, Alizée, we are obliged to do it... here it is

(Moi Lolita plays)

Cauet: There's also this

(L'Alizé plays)

Cauet: And the new song by Alizée is called Mademoiselle Juliette, I love the video! We'll talk about in a few seconds. I love the video!

Alizée: I know why!

Cauet: And why is that?

Alizée: There are lots of girls!

Cauet: Am I like that?

Cecile: Noooo

Cauet: Haha, it's true, here's the video extract from the new song:

(Mademoiselle Juliette video extract shown, followed by Spychédélices extract with Fifty-Sixty music)

(Applause)

Cauet: Alizée is with us this evening. You've seen Mademoiselle Juliette and Fifty-Sixty.

(Applause)

Cauet: Are you happy with how your album has been received?

Alizée: Very. Very happy

Cauet: Because it's been a long time. How long has it been?

Alizée: Uhh, around three years

Cauet: Ok

Cecile: What did you do for those three years?

Alizée: Oh, I did lots of things! I took time for myself...

Cauet: A good reason, no surprise there

Alizée: ...as the previous four years were really loaded for me, and I asked myself what I wanted to do for a new album

Cauet: And the welcome has been really good, for example... (reads some positive remarks from critic - I couldn't follow the words)

(Alizée smiles and ducks her head)

Cauet: Were you expecting that? Or when you launched your album were you worried "Maybe it'll be good, maybe people want the same thing as before, or...?"

Alizée: I was a little bit afraid, but at the same time, I was so happy to work with the people with whom I worked. I explored many different worlds, met great people, and I'm proud of my album, and wanted to share it

Cecile: Is is a bit complicated transitioning from the world of a little girl to the adult world?

Cauet: Oh no, a boring question!

Alizée: Hehe, well

Cecile: To have to recreate your image, really?

Alizée: Well, I've grown, so I've tried to...

Cecile: No, not much!

(laughter)

Cauet: I think you two are the same?

Cecile: Not at all! For me, the floor is far away!

Cauet: No, when you were saying hello, I think you were...

Cecile: No!

Cauet: Not too big, but not too small either

Alizée: I'm very proud of my height

Cauet: What... 1 meter 60?

Alizée: Yes. Feet to hair

Cecile: Three

Cauet: 1 meter 63? (pretends to stand on his toes)

Cecile: That's me! Go go go! (stretches herself upward)

Cauet: Ok, so in that last clip... was I dreaming, or are you a bit coquettish? (I think that's what he's saying - something similar at any rate)

Alizée: Perhaps, a bit

Cauet: I thought I was dreaming, you're in a corset, a song about a Libertine party

Alizée: I went to work at the chateau and there were many things

Cauet: But where is this chateau? Is it real?

Cecile: I think there are lots of people who get married there (again, I think that's what she said...)

Cauet: Ah yes, the Chateau - it's very nice, you borrowed it for the album, the album is called Psychédélices

Alizée: Uh-huh

Cauet: I have a little surprise for you... It gives me great pleasure, as it's something close to an artist's heart... it's the Gold Disc! For Alizée. Here it is, a point of pride to start the year

Alizée: Thank you

Cauet: Bring down the mistletoe, the mistletoe!

Cecile: The mistletoe!

Cauet: No, it's ok, I have to ask, where will you place this?

Alizée: It'll be my first in my house in Paris, as before I always lived with my Parents, so my previous ones are all there. I hope it will bring me good luck.

Cecile: Now you're a woman. You're twenty-three

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: You've grown up. Were you naive, and having grown up, are you no longer so?

Alizée: I was a bit, naturally, at 15 years old. I think I'm now a little less so, with all the things I do. I'm continuing to grow up. There are things I've never done, and things I've do over and over

Cauet: Are you tempermental, and were you then, or no?

Alizée: I was when I was a child (?), but no.

Cauet: Ah, you didn't perform that way (again, I'm guessing here on the meaning...). Are you nosy?

Alizée: Very. Too nosy.

Cauet: Oh? Like how?

Alizée: It's my biggest fault.

Cauet: Aaaaah! You're starting to feel it!

Cecile: Do you snoop your guy's cellphone?

Cauet: That's it! I SEE THIS SMS! WHO IS IT????

(laughter)

Cauet: IT'S ONE IN THE MORNING! WHO'S SENDING HIM THAT SMS?

Cecile: Look look look!

Alizée: A little bit, but no, I watch myself

Cecile: You don't snoop?

Alizée: No, not when I'm in love, No. Otherwise I'm always curious. Somebody calls on the phone, I want to know who, that's all

Cauet: Oh, that's just terrible... "Who is it?"

(laughter)

Cauet: Somebody calls "Who is it?" "Somebody you don't know, ma'am" "Who is it?"

Cecile: So if somebody doesn't want to tell you...

Alizée: No, it's not worth the trouble. For people who want to surprise me, it's very very very hard. For my birthday, I don't think a single person has ever managed to surprise me

Cecile: They all figure it's too hard, not worth the trouble

Cauet: Wow. Are you jealous? Are you more or less so than before?

Alizée: I'm less, less than before

Cecile: Jealous up to what point? What sort of things are you jealous about?

Alizée: That's to say, I don't have confidence in others. I have confidence in those I know, but not others.

Cauet: Do you trust your man?

Alizée: Yes. Completely.

Cauet: You have confidence in your man. It's normal for a girl to have confidence in her guy

Cecile: But up to what point? Eh honey?

Cauet: Hmm? But everybody agrees with me. To the guys, should she have confidence?

(Male audience members yell "Yes!")

Cauet: Of course!

Cecile: Girls? Can we be confident?

(Female audience members yell "No!")

Cauet: Oh stop it

Cecile: Say your guy gets phone call from a female friend, asking him to dinner. Then?

Alizée: No, that's not possible

Cauet: Not possible?

Alizée: No.

Cauet: Ok. Oooh, jealous, not good! Are you shy, or no?

Alizée: Yes.

Cauet: More than before?

Alizée: I'm reserved, but less shy than before

Cauet: Ahhh, you're mysterious

Cecile: Yes, very mysterious

Cauet: Boring, sometimes?

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: It's ok, it's ok, it's ok

Cecile: Quite a package! Jealous, boring, nosy

(laughter)

Alizée: Well, I'm married, so yeah!

Cauet: Do you have a fetish object? Something you never part with?

Alizée: Ummm...

Cecile: (changing her voice) A sex toy! Oooh, excuse me!

Cauet: Cecile, not everybody is like you. I've told you that many times!

Cecile: That wasn't my voice!

Cauet: Oh sure, everybody says that. You'll have to excuse her.

Cecile: (to the tune of Moi Lolita) C'est pas moi voix à moi! (meaning: it's not my voice, not mine)

Alizée: My bag

Cauet: She took a substance you can find in South America, but not so much in France! Every evening... (motions like lighting a crack-pipe)

Cecile: I was on vacation!

Cauet: Vacation was terrible for Cecile.

Cauet: Have you ever tried anything like that? (I think he's asking her about drugs here...)

Alizée: Never. I avoid it all.

Cauet: Very good, and now we've decided to return to your beloved homeland

Alizée: To?

Cauet: Exactly the same thing we brought in to the studio for, my apologies if we're a bit nosy. Bring in the MP3 player please!

(applause, and a giant pink "mp3 player" prop is rolled in)

Alizée: It's stylish to have a big handbag these days

Cauet: Yes, yes!

Cauet: As you can see, we imagine the songs will play huge! Whoo whoo...

(laughter)

Cauet: Alright, come on over to me, we're going to do something very simple. You can leave your sensor over there on the "sofa" as we'd say in American. Alright, the idea is simple - you need only to push the "OK" button. We're in shuffle mode. I'll ask questions, you push OK, and a song from your own music collection will play as an answer to my question. Is that clear?

Alizée: Ok

Cauet: What is the first thing you say to a boy whom you like?

(Alizée pushes OK, and "Teste Moi, Déteste moi" (try me, hate me) by Priscilla plays)

Cauet: Alright, enough. Alizée, you've told me you've learned a lot of lyrics. What's your favorite song?

(Alizée pushes OK, and "Bo le Lavabo" (the sink is beautiful) by Lagaff plays. She pulls quite a face - this song was a joke by a comedian that became quite successful)

Cecile: Tastes change from time to time, eh?

Cauet: So now, as if we were together, obviously not since you're married... really, what do you think of me? No, don't respond!

Cecile: Unfortunately...

(Alizée pushes the button, and "Je sais pas" (I dunno) by Céline Dion plays)

Cecile: Uncertaintly is good for your health

Cauet: Haha, oh wait, excuse me one sec... I got an SMS. OH NO, YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO IS IT????

(laughter)

Cauet: No, no, it's an SMS, Jérémy sent it to me, he's not worried. Seriously, what do you think of me? You can respond.

(Alizée pushes OK, "J'aime trop ton boule" (I really love your body) by Fatal Bazooka plays)

(Cauet starts dancing while Alizée makes another funny face. He stops)

Cauet: Ooh, they'll turn off their TV's. Hi!

Cauet: Tell me, in truth, is everything going well presently?

Alizée: Very well

Cauet: Tell me then, what was it like for Jérémy when he met you?

Alizée: I'm scared!

(Alizée pushes OK, "Il venait d'avoir 18 ans" (He was just 18) by Dalida plays)

(Alizée smiles, big breath)

Alizée: Not bad, not bad.

Cauet: A question which you can not answer, because the machine is here for you, what was you first boyfriend's first name? He who... no, don't respond!

(Alizée pushes the button, "Tout le monde, il est beau" (Everybody, he's handsome) by Zazie plays - a song which lists off a string of men's names)

(Cauet counts them off, pretending to grow more and more astonished at the increasing number. Then he hears the name Nastassja)

Cauet: Nastassja!? Ok, ok, that's good, stop.

(It keeps playing, listing names)

Cauet: Stop!

(It stops)

Cauet: Alizée is here with us tonight! Take away the mp3 player!

(applause)

Cauet: The first appearance of Alizée was in 2000, on Graines des Stars, on M6

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: That's what it was if I'm not mistaken. How did it go? What was the goal? I never watched it, what was it?

Alizée: It was a TV talent-search

Cauet: A TV Talent search. And it launched you!

Alizée: Exactly

Cauet: Were you already called Alizée?

Alizée: Yes, it's my real name

Cauet: Ok. We see some people, they look for a different stage name. And your piece, what was it?

Alizée: It was "Ma priere" (My prayer) by Axel Red

Cauet: That was difficult to sing, yes? (Might be off on this one)

Alizée: Yes

Cecile: Excuse me, one sec, sorry. Your name isn't Julie?

Alizée: Julie? No

Cecile: Really?

Cauet: You're not thinking of a different guest? If it's for Julie (didn't catch last name) that's elsewhere

Cecile: No no, it was a rumor. I saw a rumor that it was...

Cauet: It's not Julie, you're sure?

Alizée: Uuuh, no.

Cauet: Alrighty, she's sure.

Alizée: I swear it!

Cauet: Alrighty, next after that, what happened?

Alizée: What happened was I participated in another casting, done by Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat who sought a performer for Moi Lolita, so I sent them my tape of my performance on Graines des Stars, and it was like that that I was chosen to meet them.

Cauet: Did you already know Mylène Farmer? Did you know her music?

Alizée: I knew her, yes, since I was young, because everybody knows her music, but I didn't truly know her world

Cecile: Watching the video, it's very very showy

Alizée: Moi Lolita? Yes

Cauet: With Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, all their videos are very showy, eh? You look at Libertine, more than 20 years ago, and many others, they're very showy.

Cauet: Did she give you advice? Did she tell you what sorts of things to expect later?

Alizée: I think that she taught me everything. I started at 15 years old, inexperienced, but I think I went to a very very good school

Cauet: You were very like Mylène at the beginning don't you think? Everything was managed in the same fashion - not doing a lot of interviews, not giving away too much

Alizée: Yes, but at the same time, that suited me well, because I was 15, I was shy, and obviously I hadn't run in to many things in my life

Cecile: It helped you lead a more normal life

Alizée: Exactly

Cecile: I heard another rumor...

Cauet: Ah! Julie? Cut it out!

Alizée: Julie? (she laughs)

Cecile: People send me a lot of mail, because I get to meet folks in person. It would appear that you got in a car accident, and had your arms amputated.

(Cauet looks stupified, and looks at Alizée's arms. Alizée holds out her arms and examens them)

Cauet: That's a good one

Alizée: That's a good one, yes.

Cecile: Hmmm, one, two... nope.

Alizée: I read that one as well

Cauet: Oh, you read it as well? AAAAH, MY ARMS!!! THEY'RE GONE! What else?

Cecile: It was written that a song was stolen from the production studio

Alizée: Yes... not stolen

Cecile: What happened?

Alizée: It was Fifty-Sixty, a song from this album, before being mixed and mastered, that was taken by a studio assistant and placed on the internet

Cauet: That sucks

Alizée: And then, the fans were disappointed, most people were disappointed, because the music was a bit wierd, it wasn't done

Cauet: People are like "What's this?" Ok, so it was others from the studio.

Alizée: Yeah

Cauet: Alright, so you came out at 15 with Moi Lolita, which succeeeded not only in France, but the UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, China...

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: How, at 15 years old, with such big success, did you deal? You were very protected.

Alizée: Yes. I made the most of it, but yes I was very protected by my Mother, who travelled with me everywhere until my 18th birthday. It was a condition I had to follow, otherwise I had to stay in school.

Cauet: Oh wow, you stopped school at 15 years old?

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: So let me summarize - huge success, no school, mother with you, Mylène at your side, and all that before you're 18 years old.

Alizée: Exactly

Cauet: Alright, a bit more we know about you. You come from where? Ajaccio, Corsica?

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: Do you have brothers or sisters?

Alizée: A little brother

Cauet: Very good. Your best quality is what?

Alizée: Generosity

Cauet: Do you have a phobia, a fear of something?

Alizée: Spiders

Cecile: Oh yes, oh la!

(dead silence, everybody looks around)

Cecile: Telling us what it is was a bad idea

Alizée: No, no

Cauet: We know it now

Alizée: No... stop it...

(She blushes and hides her face)

Cauet: What is it?

Alizée: Nothing

Cecile: That is to say... Stop it!

Cauet: What did I do??

Cecile: No, don't do it

Cauet: In any case...

(Another pause where everybody looks around nervously)

Cauet: Do you trust me?

Alizée: Yes, totally!

Cauet: Good. In me, yes, but in the boy behind you with the enormous spider?

Alizée: No

Cauet: No, not so much. Who's your favorite character. I've heard it's Tinkerbell?

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: Ok

Alizée: I have a tattoo of Tinkerbell

Cauet: Do you have a hidden talent...

Cecile: Can we see the tattoo of Tinkerbell?

(Alizée pauses, thinks, shrugs and turns to lower the back of her outfit)

Cauet: Where is it?

Cecile: On her back. No, that's a guitar, heh (refers to the guitar pictured on Alizée's top)

(Cauet hums striptease music)

Cecile: Ah yes!

Cauet: Ooh, that guy's so annoying, knock it off (I think - referring to himself)

Cecile: That's incredible

Cauet: Quite a design (?)

Cecile: You can see the head, but not her feet - to do that she'd have to...

Alizée: It's on the slipcover of my album

Cauet: Ah yes, ah... it's a big design like Superman (?)

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: What do you think of adding Peter Pan flying around and around? There's space! You could do it... Ok, very good. What's your fault?

Alizée: I'm always argumentative as a driver

Cauet: Oh, with other drivers?

Alizée: Yes

Cecile: (Something about types of other drivers she dislikes)

Alizée: Yes, yes

Cauet: You're like HEEEEEY!!!! (He mimics flipping people off out a car window)

Alizée: Yup. I want to just get out of my car, because I...

Cecile: Alizée, you pick fights?

Cauet: Haha, I get out of my car. HEY YOU! WAIT THERE! ONE MOMENT!

(He jumps out of his chair and walks around behind the desk on his knees, jesting about Alizée's height, all while yelling at an imagined bad driver)

(Laughter and applause)

Alizée: Well, no. In Ajaccio, I've got my car in Ajaccio. It's not like that.

Cauet: Ah ha! "Ajaccio." The accent returns!

Alizée: In Ajaccio I have my car, and I'm not like that. Everybody respects everybody. But here...

Cecile: Haha, here, they'll kill you

Alizée: Exactly! I'm not accustomed to how it is here, it's nightmarish driving in Paris. All these people around, I just wanna jump out of my car and smack them

Cauet: Hand me the bomb! Haha. What is your favorite insult?

Cecile: Oooh, let's hear it

Cauet: Mine is "asshole". I have a bit of a liking for using "asshole"

Cecile: Mine, I can't say

Cauet: No, don't say it, I want to think you're nice.

Alizée: Uhhh... space-case

Cauet: Space-case, that's pretty, space-case. Cecile, don't say it, you're too nice.

Cecile: Mine is, ok, I won't say it.

Cauet: Look for the new album by Alizée, Psychédélices, look for it with the pretty Tinkerbell tattoo

(applause)

Cauet: And now if we may, a brief aside on Jérémy Chatelain, who for those who didn't know, you've married, yes?

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: (Something about how are things going)

Alizée: Very well

Cauet: Anything new to report?

(They put up an old picture of Jérémy, in pink)

Alizée: Psh, they haven't changed the photos

Cauet: Oh, he doesn't look like that?

Alizée: Ah no

Cauet: Did he finally cut his hair?

Alizée: He's clean shaven now

Cauet: Ooooh. Hey, you're going to meet my Corsican Family. Shave, we're headed to the island! You have a little girl, named Anny-lee?

Alizée: Yes

Cauet: Anny-lee?

Alizée: Anny-lee

Cauet: How old is she now?

Alizée: Two and a half

Cauet: Very good. Is she going to follow you around a bit? Because with the album, you'll have a tour, you'll have concerts

Alizée: As much as possible, yes, until she starts school I guess

Cauet: How did you imagine it? Because you are very young mother, you had her at 20

Alizée: Yes.

Cauet: A very young mother. Did you wonder if you could succeed? Finding a babysitter on one hand, doing promos, discs, all that stuff on the other?

Alizée: I think I can. I have the chance to do what I love, and to have a little girl is wonderful. I never have problems with her, I have the luck to do both.

Cauet: How many children do you want?

Alizée: Two

Cauet: Already two, or...?

Alizée: No, already one

Cauet: Ah, and Jérémy is going... (mimics a sigh of relief) "Oh no, I was worried we suddenly already had two!"

Cecile: How long will you wait?

Alizée: I don't know... after the tour?

Cauet: At that time, at 23 years old? Pass along kisses from us

Cauet: Ok, now, we have a little surprise for you. A little surprise, some of your song redone in a way you don't know

Alizée: Ok

Cauet: Presented by two people whom you know well

Cauet: Ok, at this exact moment... (something about camera tricks) Midnight Magic!

(He snaps his fingers and the show timelapses to a few minutes later. Applause. Cauet is on stage, impersonating Mylène Farmer. Some guy is at her side, dressed as Jérémy. Alizée cracks up, and continues laughing throughout much of the following)

Guy: It's too good. How's it going dear? How about a little kiss? No no. I'm here, with Mylène. I'm trying to release...

(Cauet lowers his fan, revealing himself, and everybody cracks up laughing again)

Guy: Ahh, I'm having trouble because of that costume... It's Mylène, it's not too much. You ok?

Alizée: Yeah

Guy: Ok

Cecile: Mylène the transexual, eh?

Guy: Ok, we've prepared a little surprise for the fans and you, Mylène's going to sing one of your songs, instead of you singing one of her songs. She has decided to do it for you here today, if you like. She's going to do a version...

Alizée: You've lost your pants

(Trying to pull his pants back up)

Guy: She's to do a version of your song, Mademoiselle Juliette

(Cauet starts squeaking out a very high airy falsetto of MJ's lyrics, accompanied by moody piano music. Alizée alternates between making funny faces at him, and rolling her head around laughing)

(After around 20 seconds, Cauet cracks and raises his fan to cover his face. Applause and laughing from everybody)

Guy: Haha, that makes me cry. That'll make me cry! Hey hey, something more...

Alizée: You've gotta break out the dance, too

Guy: We can't do it...

(Alizée starts weaving her arms in the air)

Cecile: It's not choreographed?

(Cauet starts weaving his arms in imitation of Alizée, which causes her to do so even more, while making a crazy face)

Guy: While we've on TV, she (meaning Cauet in drag) wants to ask you a question, if that doesn't bother you...

(Cauet squeaks out a couple words in the same high falsetto, completely incomprehensible. More laughter)

Alizée: I didn't understand.

Guy: She didn't understand the question

Cauet: I was wondering if she liked our surprise (reverted to normal voice)

Alizée: Oh yes, it's good, very beautiful

(Various chatter and falsetto)

Alizée: One last song? You have to dance a bit!

(Cauet starts singing)

Alizée: Move your arms, all that!

(Cauet keeps singing as everybody else laughs, and the Jérémy impersonator starts pushing him from the stage)

Cecile: Thank you Mylène, that will suffice! Thank you Mylène!

Guy: Stop! We're headed off. (To Alizée) I left my socks in our room

(Fade back to Cauet dressed normally)

Cauet: Thank you. There was... there was a slight error when I put my shoes back on...

(Pan to his feet, where his shoes are on the wrong feet)

Cecile: There was a little bug

Cauet: When I went backstage, I put the right on my left, and I say, it's not great for walking.

Cauet: A last moment to thank those who worked with you on this album? Who was on your team?

Alizée: Some very hard working people, who all agreed to work on this album, like Daniel Darc, and Frederick...

Cecile: Taxi Girl!

Alizée: Voila, and Frederick Lo, his composer. Bertrand Burgalat, Oxmo Puccino,

Cecile: Is Bertrand Burgalat a big name? I don't recognize him

Alizée: Yes.

Cauet: I was gonna say, Oxmo Puccino? I know his stuff (starts to sing one of his songs)

Alizée: Yeah

Cauet: Give a hand for Psychédélices, the new Alizée album, which has released!

(applause)

Cauet: She leaves with her Gold Disc

(louder applause)

Alizée: Thank you

Cauet: Best wishes. Don't break it! Farewell, Alizée! Farewell!

Thank you for translating Cooney and for your dedication to Alizee activities.

Until I visited this site, I considered myself to be an Alizee fan(atic). Based upon my work output compared to others on this forum, I am just an Alizee admirer. Thanks to all the Alizee America forum contributors for your significant works.

excellent. nice way to spend a saturday morning. thanks. I should say thanks but no thanks! Im even more enamored. Like I need a new addiction!!!

Shes so down to earth and laid back. And how cute is that that shes jealous! Shes an idealist. She wouldnt let him go to dinner with another woman! Thats so endearing.

Im also glad to see them making fun of farmer brown. I bet my bottom dollar the three year hiatus was to wait out a contract with farmer brown. But I digress.

Boy you see her face when Cecile made that "sex toy" joke? she just ignored it with such style and grace.

Cecile seems to believe that her real name was Julie. I had never heard this rumour. By now it wouldve been borne out. She handled that well too. Amazing individual.

edit to just add another thank you to Cooney it took a while for me to watch it so I can imagine what it was like to watch and translate. thanks again. we (I) are such morons. We in the states push for one language when we should be requiring all students to learn French Italian and Spanish. All.

Hmm, she won't let Jérémy have dinner with a female friend? Talk about a short leash! I wonder who she has keep an eye on him while she's in Corsica? ;)

Very nice translation, Cooney. I couldn't hear a tenth of that. :( I really, really need to practice my ear before I go to France.

Edit: I've been thinking about what she said here, and it bugs me so I'm going to comment on it. Alizée has admitted before to being the jealous type, but when it comes down to specifics like this -- ugh!

It's not really my business, and if the J-man wants to put up with that, it's his concern. But if it was me, I'd come to resent it very, very quickly. I tend to make friends with women much more often than I'm interested in having sex with them, and would really be upset if a lover expected me to abandon a friend. For one thing, contrary to what she insisted, this means that she DOESN'T trust him, and that's a bigger relationship-killer, potentially, than infidelity is.

Oh, well, just goes to show you nobody's perfect, not even Her Grace. And maybe she'll continue to mellow a bit as she gets older. :)

if she does try to possess Jeremy then the love is gone, only Alizee's egocentrism is present that says "don't try to cheat on me!!! ever!" . :D
I would never be with a woman that doesn't trust me and tries to spy on me, that attitude of her corrupts the only thing that is beautiful in this existence. Alizee cannot prevent anything in any case knowing that the heart of a human is free by its nature, so why just not relax and enjoy life as it is? :)

Alizee- the suspicious character type yes, and I don't like it at all. It looks like she is incomplete or something that's why she gets so conditioned. Jeremy is not a very serious man otherwise he would not wear pink underpants and stuff he usually wears, he is actually mellow in my opinion.

I would like to get a smack from Alizee, anyday.. and all the power of those eyes on me, I would loose myself in their blackness, bottomlessness- the sacrifice of my life. :D

Thanks Cooney! I am glad I kind of got a couple things there on my own. I thought Cecile had made a joke about Alizée's height, but didn't really get it. I love the translation. That was hilarious.
I did also get the thing when Alizée said she only had 1 child, not 2 and that she wanted another one, maybe after the tour.
Still saying she's too nosy. I love it.
(having confidence): oui! non! :D
And I liked the part about, 'you've lost your pants'. Yes, Jerem did used to dress like that. And, mlle I believe I've seen you dressing that way too!

That was pretty funny. Man I wish I understood French perfectly well. It's very nice to read it now, but never the same as just watching it.

@people who don't like Alizée's "jealousy" - well, I guess it's a good thing she's not married to you. I think she's just fine. Seems right to me. Maybe it's a cultural thing, the way a person grows up. Some people just have an idea of propriety.
Probably as they get older certain things will become understood and it will be more mellow, as good couples tend to get mellow over time, but if she never lets him got out to dinner alone with a female "friend", I still don't see anything wrong with that. It's what some call proper behavior for a married man. And it's not just about her not letting him do it. I think that if he understands it, he won't be trying to do it either. I also don't really see anything wrong with her mentioning it, at least in this context and to the degree that she did. No big deal. Relaaax. (her freaking us out with the comment about having a baby after the tour maybe is another issue. see AF for our official freak out thread.):p

Alizee is a strong girl character, yet very fragile, you have to love her deeply to fall into her world and be one with her. She very-very much values sincerity, otherwise she will never say she hates hypocricy and people's infidelity. This girl is truly something and understanding her is heaven for both. The world outside is crazy, that's why she has plenty of mistrust in her, it's the usual feedback/reaction of a devine being. Alizee is infact the cream off the life cake, you just have to see it. :)

That Jérémy's a relative unknown appears to be the way he wants it. He's known among other musicians, and his career appears to be shaping up as a songwriter rather than a performer, so the general public doesn't really need to know him.

Good thing I'm not married to her? Yes, that's absolutely right. This revelation just put Alizée firmly into the category of "Love you dearly, but it would never work out. I hope we can still be friends."

Assuming she's allowed to have male friends, that is.

Some men, I realize, only relate to women one way, so any contact alone and unwatched becomes suspicious. I'm not like that, though. I like women, and not just for one thing. To give up being able to see my female friends would be an unacceptable sacrifice.

Also, in my experience, the more jealous someone is, the more likely it is that they're the ones who end up cheating. I'm not saying Alizée is having an affair, for one thing I don't see where she'd find the time, but if this is the way she is, it's a given she thinks about it pretty often.

i think this is the second time she mentions the fifty sixty leak (the other time being le grand journal), and she keeps saying that people hated the leak version which was unmastered and unmixed. do you guys remember when it was leaked (http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showthread.php?t=2274)? i tend to believe that the reaction was mostly positive in the alizee community. i remember at AFC there was first a poll that asked if the members liked fifty sixty and the votes showed most people liked it. then when MJ was leaked they had another vote comparing it vs fifty sixty and most people preferred fifty sixty. anyways, why does she keep claiming there was a bad public reaction to the fifty sixty leak? i for one think MJ received worse reception than fifty sixty around the community when leaked, is she just trying to justify MJ's choice as the first single?

Heyamigo, I've wondered the same thing. I really don't think there is that much difference between the leaked and final version anyway. When I look on Youtube, many of the "Fifty-Sixty" clips were added 4 to 5 months ago.

yeah the leak we got isn't too different from the album release, i don't know why she keeps putting it down saying it wasn't mastered and mixed. someone ought to tell her they're practically the same thing.

Good thing I'm not married to her? Yes, that's absolutely right. This revelation just put Alizée firmly into the category of "Love you dearly, but it would never work out. I hope we can still be friends."

Oh man, I see Alizee as sooooo far away from me, she has millions of fans adoring her, what is my chance?!
But you say it so sanely and easely and sooo prone to reality of it.. are we talking about Alizee here? Just to check. :D
Alizee is an amazing person, totally! If she is the one that sang in the first albums and danced so amazingly soft and fluent I would cross oceans for her. Her moves and coquetry and charm show what a feminine person she is, then still many times demonstrating she has a strong manly character, ohhh, she is sooo different! Even if I don't meet her in real life ever, I am happy I knew she existed.
Alizee has a european provincial character and you, americans, probably don't understand it very well. She is not jealous to the extend she would harm anyone, not revengeful here, but being a sensitive girl she will likely suffer alot. It's not coincidental she can smell falsity in people, she knows how desperately painful and shameful it is when discovering it in others, that's why she's not like them and never was, more so never will be. And knowing this falsity is a great part of most people's life, she is concerned about it alot, she's just aware. But as a provincial girl she is very warm and kind person, yet strong. I know it well cause I'm provincial as well. These girls are most adorable because they are closer to nature. I don't like pale girls from big cities and many affairs with women, sex alone is not very important for me, true love is. :)

Yeah, we are, I'm just naturally incapable of seeing anyone as out of reach. ;)

As I recall, there was a good bit of negative reaction to 50/60 on the French fan sites when it was first leaked. That's surely what she's talking about. But she's also said that it was never intended to be the first single, so again, there's no cause-effect relation there. If I had to guess, I'd say that 60s nostalgia and the particular sound of that song was thought to give it a more narrow appeal, hence the decision.

Yeah, great fun! show. The only part I am confused about is a moment when Cecile replies to Alizee that she hasn't grown much, was she making fun of Alizee's height? I thought the deal was about her looks, I was wrong, it seems. :D
Gotta learn french, as I remember from school the grammar part was kind of complicated. Although french is probably not as complicated as romanian and russian, but those are my original languages, it's not like I learned them at school from blank, far from that. English is very simple as I found out while diving into it, so I have no dificulties learning more rapidly. On the other hand lack of grammatical richness may create some misunderstanding in places, in the end is just OK, I mean definitely not a poet's cosmos we have here. :D
Besides, french is much more beautiful. :)

Yeah, she was joking about the fact that Alizée is still tiny, at 1.60m, the same height as before. The verb used by Alizée when she said "I've grown up" is the same verb used to say "I've grown in height," so it's an easy joke to make :-)

Sorry for bringing back a very old thread, but are there subtitles for this video? I'm downloading the video right now, but without subs it won't be nice...

If not......how about we make some? I would help, because its a lot of work just for a single person...

OK I'll complain: I read the first page with increasing excitement, then when I went to click on the next page saw there were some insane number of pages left to go--so THEN I looked at the date (you know, like, in the subject). Now I'm depressed, and it's only 8am. On the other hand it's my own fault for not reading more carefully--I know better than to surf before coffee.

Thanks for necromancing this thread, guys. This interview was before my time, so I hadn't seen it before. I just about ruptured something when dude jumped off his chair and started running around on his knees pretending to be Lili with road rage.

Big props also to Cooney for the translation, as my French is not nearly good enough to keep up, much less pick up on all the idioms.

Well I've started to work on the subs today (I want them badly for my next DVD :)), I'm up to the 6:00 min mark...so yeah its gonna take about a week. (Or hopefully less because I want them NOW :p)

The subs are supposed to work with the "Alizée - 2008-01-10 - Interview - La Methode Cauet - TF1 - by FirstSeb.mpg" file.

So once again, this thread is raised from the dead, to shamble across the earth and do my nefarious bidding. Braaaaiiiiiiinnss...! :p

Ahem, anyway... has anybody else managed to get Wolfram's subtitles to work? I spent most of last night trying to play them along with VLC, and no dice. I upgraded VLC to the latest version, and even tried playing around with the .srt file itself in Subtitle Workshop--and it seems to play fine in the video preview of SW itself--but still no luck.

Could somebody a little more experienced maybe take a look and tell me what I may be doing wrong? I'd really like to use this interview for the next AAm chat party!

A quick check with the Olympio file seems to work fine for me, though I seem to have a corruption somewhere on that file, maybe at the very end.
The reencoded FirstSeb .avi file also works except that it has a little extra at the beginning and so the timing does not line up. For some reason the non-reencoded .mpg file does not seem to work.

By the way, does anyone know how to make a comment in one of those subtitle files (doesn't display in video)?

Right on, thanks! I've been using the FirstSeb MPEG2 file, and pulling out what little hair I have left. Nice to know it isn't just me. I wasn't even aware there was a reencoded AVI--I was going to try and reencode it myself tonight, actually. I'll download that instead!

EDIT: All the links to FirstSeb's avi reencode appear to be dead, from what I can tell. (Olympio's too, or so it seems.) Could you possibly upload one or the other somewhere?

By the way, does anyone know how to make a comment in one of those subtitle files (doesn't display in video)?

How do you mean? Like write a comment in the actual SRT file that'll show up in a text editor, but not display on the screen when played with the video? I'm not sure...maybe if it didn't have a timestamp attached to it?

Yeah, that's what I meant. Maybe I'll play around with it. Anyway, I will try to reupload this stuff to megaupload, though it will be a while. Upload speeds are not high. In the mean time, I hope you have DC++. You can download from multiple people possibly. It's sort of like bittorrent anymore, though usually faster oddly enough.

Thanks Roman, but I couldn't get it to work--WinRAR gives me a fatal CRC error when it tries to extract part 3.

Still can't get FirstSeb's mpeg2 to play with the subtitles in VLC, but I've managed to get it working with Windows Media Player. I downloaded and installed VobSub 2.23 (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/VobSub.shtml)...and voila! Works like a charm!

(Edit: Changing the file extension from mpg to avi appears to be an unnecessary step--I just changed it back, and still worked perfectly fine--so I took that part out.)

hmm I used 7-Zip to extract and while I did get an error it still completed. So, you're making it work with FirstSeb's 833,439,744 bytes .mpg file? Yeah, only the reencoded 517,129,142 bytes .avi file worked for me.
So, if you are getting it to work I guess that means we'll do that at some time. Let's get a thread up and start voting/suggesting then.

Huh. WinRar got an error in the first part, but kept going...then got to the third part, gave me a fatal error message, and crapped out. I'll check out 7-Zip and see if I can get it to work.

Got it to work with Vobsub and Media Player, yeah. VLC still can't hack it for some reason I can't figure out. I upgraded to the lastest version of VLC, tweaked every setting I could think of, ran the SRT through Subtitle Workshop multiple times...and nothin'. I'm usually pretty computer savvy for an amateur, but this one's beyond me. It's probably something really simple, but I just don't have the patience for it, anymore.

I also have "Vista Codecs 4.7.0" installed and maybe another codec pack. I can't remember. Noticed a few mistakes and such in the subtitles :

At around 10 minutes, i don't think Cauet asks if she ever did drugs, but it's something about her always having her MP3 player with her, but i can't quite make it out

13:24 she says she sang Ma Priere, by Axel Red, its actually Axelle Red, a Belgian singer (http://www.axelle-red.com) (Axel is a male name, Axelle is female btw :) )

17:58 he doesn't say anything about superman, he says something in the line of 'ça ce doit faire supermal' meaning : that must have hurt alot

21:00 few pieces of text that are missing
Cauet : Attention
J'espère que ça va marcher
ça marche en fin d'année
Cecile : ah oui, c'est la nouveau model deux mille huit
Cauet : magie deux mille huit

I hope it's going to work
