I really wonder how all of you found out about Alizée.
I know her from when Moi...lolita was a huge hit. And I'm fed up got a bit of airplay. But I live in Europe..so how did all you americans find out about her?
I listen to a lot of Jpop so I know its not impossible to find out about artists that arent played on tv/radio in your country but still I'd like to know :)
I found out about Alizee from a chatroom. I met a nice french girl and she sent me 'I'm fed up.' mp3 and then she sent me 'Moi Lolita' and I been a fan ever since then in 2002!

I saw her Parler Tout Bas video on an American TV news program back when it first came out. I didn't see Alizée again until 2006 on Youtube. I fell in love with her voice, music and personality and have been a fan ever since.

In August 2007, I first became aware of Alizée in the French forum section of the German web site of Lynne and Tessa (Google Video Lip-sync winners with the song 'Barbie Girl' by Aqua) http://lynnetessa.de/ (For other videos see http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=+%22lynne+and+tessa%22&so=0&num=10 .)
Since I am a student, I need occasional diversions from my studies... Alizée is my favorite diversion.
Someone posted the music video La Isla Bonita on a message board I was a member of in the winter of 2004. The video was labeled cute girl but no other information on who she was. On the board it was first posted no one knew who she was. After watching it over and over for probably 2 hours or more, I posted the link to the video on a truly world wide board. With in 15 minutes I got a reply from a member in England telling me that her name was Alizée and she was a pop singer from France. I've been a fan ever since.

I was at a forum and people used her J'en Ai Marre dancing gif as a signature. And then one day I was listening to Carla Bruni and asked then to recommend me more music with french lyrics and they said Alizee...then I remembered the gif and was convinced to check her out.

I was at a blog site that linked to a copy of the now infamous "J'en ai Marre" "live" performance video. My first thought was "My God, it's a real-life French Minmei !" :D (How's that for an ancient J-Pop reference ?)

Quote from my introduction. Over a year has passed and my feelings have not changed, but she has returned  and I will be forever grateful.
Hello,
I am a new member of the forum. If you will indulge me, I believe this is the only place to express my feeling with others who will understand.
A few months ago I was viewing videos on Youtube and stumbled upon Alizee performing J'en Ai Marre. I was stunned - Who was this vision? More videos, reading her bio, watching interviews. Then I had the chance to watch her live DVD. Her eyes, voice, the way she moves and interacts with the audience. She is wonderful!
I am too realistic to say I love someone I really don't know, but I can truthfully say I adore her.
This reality, this life I had not been aware, has unfolded before me these last few months. A talented, lovely child who grows into the beautiful, captivating young woman on the DVD.
Recently, I have seen pictures of her with her baby, and even if she decides never to perform or release a CD again (how I hope she does), if she decides to spend the rest of her life loving her husband and children, all I can do is thank her for this treasure of joy that she has given me. I wish her every happiness she can dream.

I found out about Alizee from World of Warcraft. I was looking at a t-shirt with a night elf on it, and someone commented that their dance was based on a real person. A french pop singer named Alizee. I youtube'd her and fell in love.

In mid-2005, I was browsing around an online video site, and ran in to the well known JEAM performance. As I had taken some French in school, I was interested in trying to figure out what the lyrics meant, so I started working on a translation. I ran in to trouble with "courgettes" (I thought it was slang for something, I didn't realize she was being literal), and in my quest for info about the meaning, I found other materials of hers, listened to them, liked them, and voila. New fan made.

Same, I found her by playing that dumb game. I watched the youtube dancing video and found it was her along with John Travolta and the human dance, which rocked haha. But on a serious note I wish I had found her a different way so one day if I meet Alizée and she asks where I found her from I could have said I herd from a friend or I was randomly looking through French Pop Music.
Now that you think of it, my sister who is a Madonna fan showed me La Isla Bonita, Lili style. Some years ago this was. So I guess I can say that.

I too found her from playing World of Warcraft. I was looking up easter eggs in the game and one was telling about who was the actual artist that the night elf dance is based off of. There was a link to the JEAM video and I really liked it so I looked up some more and I loved everything I heard. I joined this forum after a few months after finding out about Alizée.

I found her through World of Warcraft as well. (Still love playing that game). I heard a few people that play talking about how all the dances were based on RL people. My son did some digging and found a video that had them all listed out. We both found Alizee's music to be captivating.
I did some research and found more music and video's she had done and both of us are now fans. I am thankful to WOW for introducing me, as I would probably would have never learned about her otherwise.
She has a truly special talent...I hope she never gives up on her dreams.

I was Also playing World of Warcraft amazingly I was a complete geek playing 8 hours+ per day almost lost from the real world apart from School. But one night my life was about to change. I fancied youtubing movies in late nights and often found a lot of interesting stuff, I was searching for fun wow movies when I all of a sudden experienced what many of u already have, I found Jen ai Marre renamed to Nightelf Dancing, I first didn't think it was so special, I was tired etc but then I realized I couldn't stop watching it and I wanted to see more I went to bed for the night though but I think I have never slept that bad and the following day after school I spent all awake time to find out more. I was really flashed by the music and I thought she was so wonderful. I had to link my mates in WoW I thought and so I did, unfortiently they commented her badly and said all those kind of comments that I wasn't ready to face. Like she sings like a cat getting stomped on, or she has no tits look ill show u a sexy girl (linking me some blond prostitute girl) but since I have seen Alizée I really can't say anyone is pretty anymore :) I also did a lot of studdy and checked all interviews I could find to see what kind of person she was, I also googled her and wiki her to read and I was really amused by what I found, she seemed to be just brilliant! Soon my mates in WoW realized that I thought that too and they got so pissed off that I liked her more than WoW that they kicked me from the guild comunity several times for "spaming Alizée blah blah" I then decided to quit WoW and try find Alizée fan partners and already since 2-3 December I can call myself an Alizée fan but I didn't buy her first cd nor mp3 before 10th but trust me I counted the days until I could go to the town next time but ofc I listned all time from youtube and some downloaded songs but I really didn't like to download from Pirate bay etc becouse I wanted to give her credit for her great work! I now can thank Alizée to that I eventually got free from my 3 years WoW addiction aswell as new friends new life and feeling 100 times happier :) Btw sorry if this thing was very messy but it's really something special for all of us the moment we found out Alizée and for me it was what made me the person I am today.

I discovered Alizee whilst on a bus in Spain in 2006. Yes, it's true. I was on holiday with my wife and we were returning to our resort from a trip to Andorra when our guide starts playing music videos on the coach tv. At first I didn't pay much attention but then this real cute little thing in a black sailor-outfit starts singing a song that I don't understand. I was immediately hooked.
Luckily, her name appeared on the screen at the end and I memorized it. As you've all worked out, the song was J'en Ai Marre, and I looked her up on the internet when we got home.
Boy, did the rest of that fortnight drag!

Last summer, a friend of mine who knows I'm fond of young girls, sent me a You Tube clip titled "Young French Girl with Great Ass" From that moment on, I have been hooked. While lily does indeed have a great ass, I fell in love with her style, voice and personality. I know that she is a packaged product but I just love her music and videos. It's the only music I listen to in my car. Her En Concert DVD will lift me out of any funk:p While her new CD is not my cup of tea... she is so beautiful, I'm still loving her gigs on French TV;)
Thanks so much for this Web site..

I'll copy paste what I put on the lillytown thread, I'm lazy :p
Found her on youtube while I was watching Bone Thugs N Harmony videos (I don't know how either, I was lucky I guess :D). The video I watched of her was kinda bad in quality but her voice is what hooked me, then I just started watching all her other videos and became a fan :).

I'm not entirely certain where I heard "Moi... Lolita" for the first time, but I'd wager it was on the radio, probably on a bus ride to or from school in 2000 or 2001. I made a mental note to myself that this song was quite captivating. Maybe a year later, a late night when I was staring into the glare of my monitor, designing a Quake 3 map (!), for a brief moment I got the feeling that I needed to listen to something other than nine inch nails for a change. I stumbled upon the old mental note about "that French song". I had asked a mate of mine about the name of the singer a few weeks earlier or so, and I made a search in Napster or something for "Alizée". All I cared for was "Moi... Lolita", so I downloaded it and had it on repeat during my map designing sessions ever after.
For years, I did not care about who was singing it. In fact, I was quite certain that it was some seasoned old French diva. This idea stemmed, no doubt, from the perception of some of the low notes in her impressive vocal range. It wasn't until maybe 2004 that I learned that she was much younger (I would later find out that she was in fact my own age) and quite a popular number in the category "cute girl" on the Internet. For some reason, I still didn't care about all of that. I was content listening to "Moi... Lolita" in an ever-lasting repeat loop.
Then, in late 2006, out of the blue came the idea that maybe I should try having a listen at some of her other songs. I downloaded the album Gourmandises and could quite quickly state that the album could be listened to with appreciable merit. (I have since purchased both Gourmandises and Mes courants Électriques and mean to buy Psychédélices as soon as I can afford it.)
But it wasn't until this last summer that I got irreversibly hooked. I was at an afterparty where myself and the above-mentioned mate of mine were the only ones still awake. It was 7 a. m. It was on Youtube. It was three major chords followed by a minor one. It was a shameless four-minute loop of just four chords. It was the kind of dancing that inspires faith in and hope for the human race. It was even better than "Moi... Lolita". It was "J'en ai marre".
So I guess it took me some six years to fully take in and embrace in its entirety the phenomenon that is Alizée. To sum up, "Moi... Lolita" made me initially take note of her and "J'en ai marre" got me completely hooked. Not too original a story, I suppose. :)
Great post! My own story is kind of similar in that I repeatedly listened to Moi...Lolita on the radio but never had any idea who was singing it. Like you I thought it was an older woman singing it, certainly not a teenager.
I always thought something like "That's a really good song, so melodic and really catchy" when I heard it but I didn't have Internet access at the time and I couldn't make out any words anyway (other than "les autres" for whatever reason:rolleyes:), not even the word "lolita"
So eventually the song got played no more an years passed. I still had no clue.
Then youtube saved me, I heard the song again in some casting show clip and read in the comments that it was Moi...Lolita by someone called Alizée - that was in september of last year and the rest is history.:)

Well, one day I was sneaking into my sister's laptop and found the la isla bonita video of Alizée. At 1st I just tought she's cute and that's all. But when I saw the 2004 en concért, I was totally numb and hypnotized by her voice n looks that I didn't realize my sis was coming. Got one hell of a scolding from her and my dad lol, but i would say it was worth it. Eversince then I spent most of my life reading and donwloading everything about Alizée that my hands can reach. Until now, I still can't get enough of it:p

Man, my story is a bit crazy....
-- In a nice Christmas eve in 2005 my brother received from my aunt a brand new MP4 from hong kong (cheapest ones)....You know, when you buy a new mp3 or mp4 they come with a demo music, demo video and a demo photo; And that's how it all started, it came with the Alizée's la isla bonita video.... Man I got stunned...my heart started to go faster and faster and i thought: Freeeeaaaaakinnn gooossshhhh!! Whattaaaa FLuuuukkkkk!!
I searched in YouTube about that La isla bonita video and I found it.
And that was the name Alizée, but i thought "whatta fluck! Is it a freakin name??" and I started to search about Alizée and, guess what!!!
The first video that appeared was J'en ai marre! I saw it and when it finished I thought: "what a hot chick!" (I actually felt in Love!)
I went to Emule and downloaded all about her and, today I'm here! With all her Cds and all her photos! --

I heard Moi Lolita on MTV in 2000 while my brother was studying French, i asked him what it meant and he sort of explained, then he became a soft fan for a while but I carried on and took a genuine interest in all things French. Then life sort of changed when the parents split up and my dad went back to Prague, knocked me about a bit as I was just 12 and lost my way with things like school and music and just persued football (soccer) as an escape. Now I'm back to "normal" after a few years I decided to see if she was still around (June 2007 thankfully she was and since then I've tried to keep up to date with all things Alizee, but it hasn't worked as planned! Anybody know if she's doing an autograph signing session in Paris between April 18th & 21st?

the video of "La Isla Bonita" was actually the sample video on an MP4 player i was given
my sister said "yeah you love that girl"
at first i said she's okay trying to act like nothing phases me
but really i was thinking this is the cutest/hottest girl i've ever seen
ever since then (last summer) i've been hooked
she just seems so nice and pure - i like to think that's what she actually is in real life
I orginally found Alizee on a video site, can't remeber which one. After that I checked out her videos on Youtube, the rest is history.

Do any of you who had the La Isla Bonita clip from your portable player still have it? And what is the brand name/model of the player?
This really suprises me that a French artist would have a sample on any player in the US (although it is in English). I just want to see if i can look it up, very interesting!
