So, how is her new album selling? It sold in my household, but that only counts as one...

RMJ at AF keeps pretty good track of these things:

Needless to say, this new album wouldn't see the same high sales as her prior ones. :(

I don't know exact numbers, best I can give is this:
Gold album is 100,000 in France. Psychédélices went gold almost instantly.
Platinum album is 300,000 in France. It has not yet achieved that.

And it won't. As far as I know the "gold" was for 100,000 delivered, not sold. She hasn't sold 100,000 yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, as long as she can continue her career and be happy all is well.

Those sales numbers has been adjusted in 2006
Gold is 75,000 (was 100,000)
Platinum is 200,000 (was 300,000)
Diamond is 750,000 (was 1,000,000)

Indeed. The actual sales number in France is somewhere 30-35,000. :(

What does "lol wow" mean other than the acronym "lol" followed by "wow"?
The lack of punctuation common in this style of writing sometimes makes it difficult to parse...

"lol" seems to have mutated from a literal "lots of laughter" into a more generic expression of emotion, and sometimes even just a sentence/phrase delimiter. Some (erstwhile) members of this forum used "lol" instead of ".".

Just like I said; There is actually nothing to laugh about bad sales numbers.
I'm sure you don't really mean it, so that's why I said it was hopefully a slip of the tongue.:)

On the internet "LOL" has always meant Laughing Out Loud. People using it often in the wrong way, so easily misunderstood.

guys, guys chill, her new album is not doing bad at all, quite to contrary; its doing great. Her album is in the top 10 best selling in France if not the top 5 last I checked. So stop getting worried, Alizee is doing great. Also her Album is still selling, after her tour is when your going to see the real sales in her Album. There's still plenty more selling to be done!

I'm sorry, I wasn't using it to imply that I was laughing at Alizee's album. I love her new album, but I think I use 'lol' too much.

Actually, like others, when I first listened to the new album, I was lukewarm about it, but the more I listened to it, the more I like it. It is a departure from her earlier work somewhat. The first album I ever purchased of hers was her second one, so I reallly liked that one. Then when I bought the first one, the same thing happened. Now, I have all three in the car on the player lined up to play, as well as loaded on the the ipod. At 56 years old, that is saying a lot. I come from the Beatles era. Her video, I'm not twenty is what first captured my attention and I have this website to thank for that.
My wife and I just celebrated 34 years together and on our 30th, we went to Switzerland and Italy. We had planned to go to England/France next but are a little short on funds. So, we have two free tickets to anywhere in the states and are going to Sequoia National Park in June to see the redwoods. I will post photos if anyone is interested. I was in Paris in 1973 for a week and found it to be a beautiful city, so I still will push to go there as well as take the chunnel to England.

So did the album peak at number 16? How did the single do?
Sorry, just haven't had enough Alizée time to keep up with things. :o
(Also don't know French and a bit of a computer mong.)
Alizee is in the top 100 internationally. 35k in France? um three months to four months ago maybe.
Shes 77 in the world....
The no. 2 top billboard only sold 100,00 so her sales are excellent. Im so fkn sick of the naysayers who are quick to down her without adequate proof. please dont make negative remarks without a link to back you up. Its ez to cut people down when you talk in the wind.

so Alizee gets good sales! that's great, the uplifting for the beautiful Lili right here and right now. I know I want her to stay around, she needs to succeed even if I'm not a fan of her new music style, I don't matter that much. She, however, does matter very much because nevermind I want it or not, this is her new path she has taken and it's firmly going so generally no more negative complaining from my side you'll hear in the future, I'll just stay as an observer to what's happening for the time being. And more so this, I believe, is very important for those that love her latest musical creation.

Anyway Alizee doesn't do bad and I'm most optimistic about her sale figures just as I am optimistic about her career life in general. I'm on the bright side today that I woke up. ;) :)

It's out for 3 months - December, January, February.

I tell you what - I LOVE reading that i'm not so alone in my age bracket here!
Want to hear a heartbreaker Terry? I used to have, in my own little collection, an un-opened copy of the Beatles White Album..... Mom got it - and never listened to it. After my folks divorced... it grew legs...... :(
Grats also to you for 34 yrs. together!

370 copies (http://telenews.over-blog.com/article-17165244-6.html) in February.
This last item (luckily) appears to be 370 copies in the last week in February. It also says that the total sales are 35,700 copies.
Heck, they sold over 500 copies in Mexico City last Wednesday :)
BTW here's the source for that article:
http://infodisc.fr/Ventes_Album08.php
She's in 287th place.
Wow, Jenifer's been doing quite well. I wondered what happened with Priscilla's new album...looks like it was a non-starter. Lorie managed 79,000 of her new album so far.

That's right:
http://www.amprofon.com.mx/certificaciones.php?item=menuCert&contenido=criterios
However, their website does not have this certification listed yet. But they seem to be about 2-3 months behind.
It's not listed as gold yet on the Top 100 list (she's at 24 and 28 (with Tout Alizée)), but I suppose it will show up here eventually.

Well Ed, its funny you mentioned the White Album, because I was 15 yrs old then and that was the first album I officially, personally owned. I got it for a birthday present from my older brother. It had some strange tracks on it, but overall, I liked it a lot. We didn't have a lot of surplus capital to buy albums. Dad passed away when I was 10 and we made it on social security and mom's odd jobs. My first job was as a caddy at the local club and I saved up to buy a "10 speed" bicycle. I think I am dating myself in front of all these younger guys. Btw, the next album I recieved was Abbey Road..

I just ran across this picture on her Myspace site!! Does this mean what i think it does? :D:D 100,000 (GOLD) records sold worldwide for PSYCHEDELICIES!!

ha ha, look a little deeper. That was taken 2008-06-26 in Mexico City and from what I read it represents something like 50,000 units sold to make the Mexican Gold Disk.
By the way, I am not aware of any award being given by anyone for worldwide sales. So, even if she sold millions of disks, if it was distributed widely enough, that might not translate into any awards. Well that probably wouldn't happen with millions, but you get the point.
In France the record company sold 80,000 as I heard it, to music stores and such and therefore put her beyond the 75,000 required for gold in France. However, I still don't think nearly all of those have sold to consumers (because apparently that's tracked too). I don't know if it's a similar thing in Mexico or not, however, having been there I must say that the fans have been really great and very enthusiastic even if not nearly enough people actually buy legit copies of the album.

Important question: Psychedelices is available for download, no? Are digital sales accounted for?
And then there are those that get the album without paying, who are probably very many.
