Here when I look for Her videos in others computer, what I notice is that all most all computers have a folder for Her videos and there are only few videos in those.

I often wonder how all those folders are same and they have:

ACC music video
JVPA music video
Moi... Lolita amsterdam performance
La Isla Bonita
JEAM perforamnce
Ella, Ella l'a
JEAM music video
I'm fed music with a cute little intro

That's the common composition of Alizee folder in thousands of computer here. I often wonder how this is so? I mean how that Amsterdam performance can be found everywhere? It's always one of the earliest videos of Her that a person watches after discovering Her.

I really love this video! It was one of the first I saw of Alizée and is it just me or is she singing live for like the first few seconds? Maybe its just the way the sound's been amplified but I swear the beginning sounds different from the studio version... :confused:

Yes, it does sounds different in the beginning. Not sure whether she sang live or it's also lip-synced like most of her performances.

I'm pretty certain it is JUST the beginning that's sung live (if anything) but then why not the rest? Hmm its just that it seems a bit illogical... not that I'm complaining! She's a really great live performer... I wish it happened more often :wub:

I can't say about this performance, but most of her performance are lip-synced. That's what most of the artist do in their live performances. She did sing some songs live and those concerts of 2003 were purely live. I can't recall exactly, but I guess I saw somewhere that this performance was one of those few in which She sang live.

I believe this was Alizée's first performance outside of France and also her first outdoor performance. The occassion was a festival celebrating Queen's day in the Netherlands.
If we're going to discuss it, then we might as well view it.

Well I just double checked and it is posted on page 4 titled "Moi... Lolita - April 30, 2001
". I thought it had to be. I'd definitely classify this as one of her top ten performances. I loved the look in her eyes, the way she danced with such poise, so much confidence for a girl who was only 16.

This was the second video I first saw of Alizée. The first one was L'a Isla Bonita. I saw that one when I first discovered her and thought, well this is a beutiful young lady singing one of Madonna's song, but does she have any songs of her own. Did a search. Found Moi Lolita Amsterdam, clicked on that and it was like Oh my god! What have I stumbled across here. I don't know how many times I played that video that night about 3 years ago. I think the neighbors are still pissed at me.

She meant that she isn't very good at learning other languages! And I've read your posts, Scruffy...there is no indication that your English is off at all. Grammar, spelling, it all seems perfect from what I've seen. Somehow I can't imagine you struggling with English.

Our Lolita being good at physics and math came as a total surprise to me though.

Her honesty makes me fall for her everytime - like when she says she's typically a little jealous when it comes to love. How many women do you know who would OPENLY admit that? She is amazing. :wub:

I always assumed she knew English back then and obviously she can probably speak it well by now . Also guessing now that is one of the reasons Moi Lolita wasn't made into an English version . All though i have also read the translation would not work well and think they thought it may not be a politically correct song for the USA market . Also realize she could learn enough to sing a song easily just maybe that was a factor .

Almost forgot what this topic was about -
Amsterdam , definitely one of her finest performances and i LOVE the very short hairstyle . As far as is she singing live the whole time here is my guess . Obviously as pointed out by others you can hear her singing in the start but then drops off a bit .
Which if you take notice is right after the LOUD air horn someone blows off . Odd to me the engineers didn't edit that out or make it lower afterwards but perhaps it adds to the ambience of being live or something so was left in . Now i think even though she is a wave , point , smile performer she points to the horn blower direction like no no no and/or soundboard operator to adjust her mic . Regardless if so or not anyway you can hear her singing along with the track just her volume was adjusted during or after the performance at the air horn point . You can also hear the horn blow at the end . Wanted to point that out and say any concert goer please don't bring an air horn .

album cover which Alizee reproduced . Most likely that was with permission .
As well i would bet Madonna inspired her to do that . Add on to that Alizee doing
cover of Madonna songs definitely was with permission . Not to say they would need to meet
to obtain permission but most likely a meeting and personal phone calls took place .
Now i know i have read that Madonna was an inspiration for Alizee as well that Madonna felt Alizee was much like herself being a " phénomène " .

After a search of my Alizee articles messy folder i could not find anything . Wether or not Alizee went to one of her concerts one can only speculate but
i would guess the answer is yes they both have seen each other perform live more than once . After all both being artists it is probably what they like to do going to concerts , meeting with peers and the like .

I'm sure I heard somewhere that Mylène and Madonna knew were friends or at least knew each other professionally. If that is true then there's certainly a possibility that Madonna met Alizée through her connections with Mylène, or at least heard some of her music.

Yeah Mylène's often called 'the French Madonna', which is a fair comparison even if I avoid using it myself because I don't like to stereotype. They do have similar styles and are both regarded as (albeit ageing) queens of pop in their respective countries.

Imo Mylène can still pull off 'sexy', but in a different way to when she was Alizée's age. She has to be more subtle and reserved, like in the vid below. But I can understand if you find it a little creepy, I've been a Mylène fan for a couple of years now so I guess I've got used to it. :p
