Zack, what was that reference of Lolita and Amelie about? Sounded like a comparison type of question.

tbailey
06-20-2008, 02:11 AM
Zack, what was that reference of Lolita and Amelie about? Sounded like a comparison type of question.

Reporter : is it to say good bye to Lolita and hello Amelie?

A: it's not to say hello to one and good bye to the other
but rather a continuation of life - that i'm maturing
a result of more experience - new places new people
that i was at one point 15 and now 23
that the things that are close to me now may not be the same in a
few years - its a part of growing up :p

[Zack is the translator getting Alizee's age wrong? - i keep hearing 24 years old :p maybe i just suck at Spanish]

i'm bored - i figure i try my nominal Spanish

Zack -Alizee Lover-
06-20-2008, 02:12 AM
Zack, what was that reference of Lolita and Amelie about? Sounded like a comparison type of question.

Indeed. He uses Lolita to refere to the past, as when she was 15... and Amelie as the present, a grown up person.
He used both to refere an image.

[Zack is the translator getting Alizee's age wrong? - i keep hearing 24 years old :p maybe i just suck at Spanish]
Yes, she keeps saying she is 24. She is 23 yet, but she will be 24 in August 21.

As you can see it is a lot....

C: Alizee welcome to Mexico
A: Thank you

C: Some other words in Spanish besides "Thank you"
A: "My name is Alizée?" (LOL)

C: Alizée...what are you trying to wake up...with your style?...cause the way you dress...your dances...your singing...what are you trying to wake up?
A: I try to demonstrate an example of youth...I am 24 years old and I feel lucky that at my age I have being able to do the things that are my passion... and to live wonderful things in other countries...whenever I travel around the world...and I guess that what I want to transmit...is that you have to believe in your dreams´til the end ... because dreams come true and I am "a living example" (she smiles)

C: Something special that you want to generate with the male audience....whom always follows you...
A: As woman we necessarily make men to like us… but that is not my objective… my intention is to make music… to show the French language abroad and to enjoy everything I do

C: Is it truth that you were born in same place than Napoleon?
A: (Oui ) Yes...at Corcega

C: And more or less who has conquered more... you or Napoleon?
A: (puff) Well I am only 24 years old...we will see 20 years later what I have done... but at least in these last 8 years I have lived so many things... I've been lucky and I am very proud to represent France abroad

C: I thought ....for what I have seen in videos and other stuff... that you were a little bit taller… of course you are not as small as Napoleon.. but do you think that: "Greatness is measure from head to ground?" (Napoleon's quote)
A: I think it is not a matter of size, it is more a matter of desire and ambition

C: I can see that there is an intention...to perhaps... redesign your image..I don't know if I am understanding well… but it is like saying goodbye to Lolita and hello to Amelie?
A: Ahhh...like Amélie Poulain? It is not that I say goodbye to an image or hello to a new one...it is simply a continuity...I grew up ...I am 24 years old and when I started I was 15 and as a person we all evolve...and then you met other people...and you have preference for different things... and I try to do the things that fits more to me in these days...perhaps later... I won't do the same things... because I will met other people and will have other wishes...and I will have the desire to discover other things

C: When you look yourself to the mirror...how old do you think you look?
A: Well...I still cannot believe I am a young mother… I see myself and I have the same face….with more years… I have lived so many things… I was lucky to travel… I am a mom and I say to myself that I am happy like this

C: What do you do in regard to your daughter when traveling?
A:I try to spend the most of the time with her...because at 3-5 years children change so much...I try to take advantage of being with her

C: By the way...what do you know about Mexico?
A: I know that it is a country that treats me very well...where the people is very warm...charm, gentile and cute...like the fans or the people I met when I go to eat at a restaurant for example...and it's truth that when the people is this way...it makes you have the desire to come back again...and that's the reason why I am here again.

C: What do you like most of the Mexican food?
A: I have always liked a lot the spicy food with a strong flavor so here is the perfect place

C: And tequila?
A: I don't drink liquor (alcohol)

C: None?
A: None

C: Any particular reason?
A: I don't like liquor (alcohol) I prefer soft drinks

C: Thank you very much and good luck...I hope it goes very good for you in Mexico
A: Thank you very much

Least she's not worrying about height anymore, meaning more sneakers woo!

Napoleon conquered by force.
Alizée conquered because people volunteered to be conquered.
Hoohah!

My Indonesian Father knows how to brew strange chilis, one time he mixed in Habanero juice with god knows what, some Indonesian spices, trust me when I ate it, I wasted like 5 liters of Mexican Coca Cola (it's the best what can I say! Sugar Cane, the sugar cane :))

I love spicy food as well.:p At one point of time my mother use to grow small peppers in our backyard. However, if you touched them you had to watched your hands and avoid touching your face or you would get this painful itch in your eyes.

It's such a shame she doesn't drink at all as there is no problem with alcohol as long as it is not in excess.

I couldn't have a nice steak or spaghetti bolognese (which I make with delicious expertise) without a nice shiraz. And there's nothing better than relaxing after a hard day's work with a nice 15 year old scotch whilst listening to Zeppelin in my bathrobe.

Spicy food is fun coming down the tube......................but not several hours later coming out! ;)

It seems to me she was very careful at what she said in this interview. She made sure to try and flatter the Mexican people when ever given the opportunity to do so. Not saying this is a bad thing, I'm just saying it was apparent.

I gotta be honest, her not liking alcohol puts her on another level for me (didn't think it could go any higher). Personally I don't drink, for a variety of reasons...so saying that she doesn't is so attractive to me.

Most people drink, and alot of the minority that don't drink will say they do in order to fit in during a social situation. I was at a work meeting recently and every single person in the room including the managers started talking about their favorite drinks & similar topics, and since I really want to move up with the company I didn't say the truth and proclaim that I didn't drink...but even though I didn't get into the discussion much I knew I had to make a pro-drinking comment to stay under the radar. So I said I liked foreign beer, even though I have only drank American beer and hard liquor...but I imagine it has to taste better so maybe its not a lie.

So the fact that Alizée, knowing that she is a media attraction would say so boldly that she doesn't drink (an uncool statement in terms of the general population) is just awesome.

I've never felt self-conscious about tee-totaling, and I don't really mind if others say what they like to drink/etc. and I say I don't. I don't know whether your managers are the kind of people who might feel like you didn't fit in if you didn't hoist a few, but I don't think it's uncool at all and I can't think of anyone I know who actively thinks it's "uncool" not to drink (even the ones who partake themselves).

Ok. Even though I HATE that government sold pseudo journalist i think he did ok at the interview.

Some questions a little bit ill directed if i might say, but hey, shes Alizee, shes got experience with moronic journalists.

I hope shes gets good propaganda from this appearances but i expect she does not fall in TELEVISAS claws...be carefull Lily.

Adios amigos.

I'm definitely not one to try and do the "cool" thing, but man I wasn't about to set myself back or give them all something to talk about behind my back. It is similar to going into a church and proclaiming that you are an atheist...chances are nothing good will come of it.

If its leisure time or at a job for a company I have no intention of moving up in then they can view me how they want. But I'm not about to take a step back at this stage. Later on I can afford to be unpopular and it won't hinder my progress.

If I could say one thing to Alizée, it would be to not fight being beautiful just because men finds her attractive. Beauty is more than looks. It is the eyes. The smile. The attitude. The Alizée glow that makes her music so divine cannot be divorced from from the glow that makes Alizée beautiful. Suppressing the latter will stunt the former. Focus on the music objective, and just let the beauty flow...the voice, the eyes, the smile....just let it flow...don't worry about being sexy...you are...don't fight it. Just let it be. It's part of you. And there is nothing wrong with that.

I agree!

I want to see more big grinny smiles that ever so highlight her cuteness! I want to see the eyes I can stare at for countless hours! I...attitude...erm...I loved it when she squeaked in the Fun TV interview when the speaker gave her the Tinkerbell trinket, more cuteness please!

I find it impossible for me to not end with a poem, so here is just some freeform poetry made on the spot:

Oh wind, flying freely
You fly towards mountains
You fly towards the sea
You fly over the world
And entangle us in your grace

You flow with agility
Moving smoothly and freely
You do not fight the forces that fight you
You do not fight against what entraps you
You only flow
You only fly
Endlessly flying
with grace and ability
with passion and delight
the wind, you are
flying ever so freely.
