View Full Version : [2008-10-23] Psychédélices European Tour Audit

Sir Wood
07-02-2008, 02:07 AM
D'accord, this will be handled in the same fashion as the Mexico Tour Audit posting to assist in coordination efforts amongst planned attendees. Please note, the majority of coordination is often handled off-line via e-mail, so it would be wise that you PM those attending the same dates as yourself.

This is an audit for the European tour only. All other discussions concerning the Psychédélices Tour 2008 can be found at this thread, http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showthread.php?t=3708, and Paris, France venue at this thread, http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showthread.php?t=3822.

Ticket purchasing links are found here, http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showpost.php?p=99823&postcount=1.

I work in the airline industry. There's supposed to be some big cutbacks in September. If I'm still working in October and if I'm still living in Boston, I plan on going to the October 23rd performance in Paris. I ordered 2 tickets last week. One is for a co-worker.

A question to those more experienced in traveling abroad:

aircanada.ca says that I could buy a round trip ticket from my city to Paris for a little over $460 for Nov7-10. However, that's about the only expense I have a figure for. I'd have then have to get to Nantes and back as well as transport in the city, lodging, food, and more. I'm fairly confident that I can come up with an estimate for some of the basics like flight and lodging but I want to have an idea of what I might spend on more miscellaneous things throughout the trip. Also, I'm hoping that if I can do this I can do it in a group so I'd like to know what others will be doing in Nantes.

Wow, that's pretty good pricing; you're way out in Western Canada, right?

I haven't traveled in Western Europe for a while, so the only general thing I would say is with a weak dollar, things will surely be pricey.

Probably the next thing to do is to look at some travel guides (e.g., Fodors, Lonely Planet); for instance, here's a web page for Nantes.

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/france/nantes/

If you're looking for train fares Paris to Nantes, you can look at:

http://www.raileurope.com

but the fares for that season aren't up yet. Fares for Sept seem to be $70-100 US each way.

Good luck!

Speaking of first time traveling, can I get some suggestions- namely, what are the best places to book flights and hotels, should I do both at the same time, when should I book, what should I be expecting, pretty much everything. I've never even flown before, so if I go through with this, it will be a whole lot of firsts.

Well since this would be your first time traveling, I highly suggest that you find out who will have the same travel plans as you, and coordinate the trip (sooner or later we'll all start to communicate with each other and plan things out more carefully) . When we all went to mexico, some booked hotels and flights for others and that help coordinate things a lot.

Here are some sites so you can get familiar with booking travel online
try different dates, times and airlines just to get an idea of prices.

http://www.priceline.com/

http://www.travelocity.com/

http://www.orbitz.com/

http://www.hotels.com/

You have to shop around, don't rush it. you want to find the best prices available, sometimes it's good to book the flights and hotels together. Personally I prefer separate, but thats me.

I've also noticed that booking directly with an airline can sometimes be cheaper then through one of these travel websites. But like I said, shop around!

Uh BTW... you have your passport, right? :p

The list is growing everyday. There are also ~40 folks from AF that will be going to Paris for the Le Grand Rex concert! :D

Here's a rough idea of my plans: (obviously subjected to change)
08 November Travel: DEN – CDG
09 CDG – NTE via EuroPass
09 Concert: Nantes , France
(Hotel: 3 days, 2 nights)

11 NTE – BRU via EuroPass
12 Concert: Cirque Royal, Brussels, Belgium
(Hotel: 3 days, 2 nights)

13 BRU – LGG via EuroPass
13 Concert: Le Forum, Liège, Belgium
(Hotel: 2 days, 1 night)

14 LGG – BRU – CDG via EuroPass
(Hotel: 2 days, 1 night)

15 Travel: CDG – DEN

http://www.kayak.com/
http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/eurail_benelux_france_pass.htm

Last price check for a round-trip air and 1 week Euro rail pass is already ~$1300 USD!

I'm just waiting for the tickets to go on sale for the 3 November venues.

French people are great. I am always very well impressed. Now I know only two Belgian people, but they are even better. So in my experience, Belgians are like French, but have a 110% coolness bonus.

Oh, and those two Belgians were also very generous.

Regarding Belgium. Just remember that the northern part is Flemish and the most spoken language is Dutch, whilst the southern part is Walloon and the most spoken language there is French (with a smaller community on the eastern border speaking German).

Brussels in the Flemish region and Liège is in the Walloon region. ;)

D'accord mon ami !

Ugghhh, I hate the fact that she now only list "Le Grand Rex" on her MySpace. Then again, it could be a mistake similar to when she still had listed Querétaro and León when we in fact knew they were cancelled. Or second thoughts based on the demand in France vs. Mexico? Like they are waiting to see how the ticket sales go for Paris?

I would go to the Paris concert but after Guadalajara I want to see more then just one! What's a poor fellow to do? Waiting will only get more expensive. But I'd rather know for sure in order plan accordingly. :(

Well, traveling alone could be a little daunting to anyone. It's just fear of the unknown. Keep your street smarts and don't do anything that you would not do at home (ex. walking through a dark alley at night by yourself). Be mindful of your surroundings.

I assure you that once you get to Paris (I assume that is the venue that you plan to attend) and meet with other Alizée fans that you will feel at ease. Especially since you already have something in common with the others. ;)

On a side note, like several others, I've too bow out of the November dates (it's getting late and there's still a bit of an unknown about them) and committed to attending Le Grand Rex, Paris. The AAm list has been updated.

A noob question about tickets, I assume “CATEGORY 1” is the best / most close to the scen?Ok, granted I've lived here now for like 6 weeks or more, but read what I just wrote here: http://www.alizee-forum.com/showpost.php?p=725166&postcount=290

I meant to take a map with me, but then when I got to the street and realized I didn't have it I just figured, ah, what the heck, I can just go to a metro station if I get lost. Once you figure out the simple metro station and if you know the station close to where you want to go, it's pretty easy to walk down the street and find a metro station sort of randomly if you are in the inner part of the city. Not that you shouldn't plan as well as you can before coming, but point is, it's one of the easiest places to get around I think. As for ok hotel, I don't know, book a 3 star?

And you want a ticket in the orchestra section rather than balcony. I think the mezzanine is the same section in this case as the orchestra section. There are only two categories. Balcony is up high, the other down below.

Do a little research too you guys. You might find it interesting to find out about Paris and the euro which I think is currently about 1.5 times the value of the dollar. So, I don't know, do the math. 1.5 times (or maybe 1.6 times) whatever it says the ticket price is in euros is the ticket price in dollars. If you want to know the current conversion, type dollar to euro into a search engine like Yahoo. It's as simple as that.

Yes, "Catégorie 1: ORCHESTRE - MEZZANINE" (40 Euro).
http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showpost.php?p=99823&postcount=1

how much do these tickets tend to be in american money
They are 35 Euro (for Cat 2) & 40 Euro(for Cat 1). Google "exchange rates" and select whatever currency converter you want to use because they fluctuate daily. For the most part you can consider: 1.5 USD = 1 EURO. So, 35 EURO * (1.5 USD / 1 Euro) = $52.50 USD and 40 Euro * (1.5USD / 1 Euro) = $60 USD.

Are the November dates definitely off or are we still awaiting confirmation ?

Unfortunately I can't make the Paris show but I was hoping to go to one of the Belgian dates (holiday time permitting) so I hope they are still on.

Sorry if this has been gone over before but some members of this forum always seem ahead of the game (well , ahead of me certainly :p) with the latest news.
November dates are still unconfirmed. Because it's getting so late and because Alizée's MySpace now only list Le Grand Rex, many believe that the November dates may either be cancelled or are being rescheduled. With the extreme that at least the Nantes, France venue is actually cancelled. ***This is all unofficial.*** Remember, she still had Querétaro, Mexico and León, Mexico listed on her MySpace throughout the Mexico tour when we in fact knew they were cancelled.

Anyway, some people (like those traveling from the U.S.) can't really wait for the confirmation on the November dates, because if the said beliefs are true, and there's only Paris, the longer one waits the more one would have to pay on airline and hotel.

Yes, "Catégorie 1: ORCHESTRE - MEZZANINE" (40 Euro).
http://moi-alizee.us/forums/showpost.php?p=99823&postcount=1

They are 35 Euro (for Cat 2) & 40 Euro(for Cat 1). Google "exchange rates" and select whatever currency converter you want to use because they fluctuate daily. For the most part you can consider: 1.5 USD = 1 EURO. So, 35 EURO * (1.5 USD / 1 Euro) = $52.50 USD and 40 Euro * (1.5USD / 1 Euro) = $60 USD.

November dates are still unconfirmed. Because it's getting so late and because Alizée's MySpace now only list Le Grand Rex, many believe that the November dates may either be cancelled or are being rescheduled. Unless you believe, like I do, in the email posted on one of those French forums, I don't remember now, from Ki m'aime me suive, the concert organizer who said those dates were canceled and effectively Alizée is on a world tour and there will not be, as of yet, a French tour excepting the one date in Paris. That makes it official.

That really sucks. I really hope they are just being rescheduled for next year; at least that way I might have a shot of making it to one of them [fingers crossed].

Well, hopefully I will get responses on who all are still going. Folks could just PM me their e-mail and we can coordinate that way.

Well, if we don't all meet up sooner in the week then at least we should plan to get together on the 23rd. Maybe do a little serenading to "Ms. Juliette"... ;)

I think at least meeting on the 23rd is important. I also wouldn't mind going to Normandy and honoring those who've sacrificed their lives for freedom. Any idea how far it's from Paris and if it could be achieved in a day trip?

Well, everyone was begging Alizée to come back after her break. I'm sorry if some fans don't ever get to fully appreciate her by going to see her in concert. But, she did come back. The great Alizée came back and made another album. She gave some of us another chance to see her and all of us another chance to enjoy her beautiful voice and share at least a little of her life.

And I think she'll at least make one more album. We're back to waiting for Alizée. It's hard, but stay tuned in. Speaking of which, we might actually see her http://www.mtvtr3s.com/ontv/dyn/los_premios/series.jhtml in about 4 hours for all I know.

That's what I thought someone said in the post I got that from. There were actually two links. It's in the relevant thread at Alizee-forum. However, I just noticed on the page it says: This show is not playing on MTVTr3s during the next 3 days.
So, I don't really know if we can watch it online or what. There might be some news that shows up there though in some form. We will see tonight (6pm Pacific) if Alizée wins, which will be quite great to see her win another MTV award especially considering the popular competition. I'm just going to stick around and see what happens.

A lot of negative posts have been made during the latest period of time, I do believe that it will fill its purpose in the future. When all this have blown over and Alizée is on her merry journey towards the skies, we can look back at these times, and with great joy remember how we and her managed to prevail.

You need contrast to fully enjoy the beauty of life. Without sorrow and dismay, joy and happiness remains unnoticed.

Yes, indeed we are moving on and trying to be positive and happy - one must live with life - and eagerly awaiting Alizée's next appearance. It is unclear what is going to happen.

To recap: It is rumored that she is working on something, but she's currently in hiding so to speak. She may show up in Mexico for the award of Lunas del Auditorio on the 29th.
I don't know what happened to Star Academy or when that program ends. When was she on last year? It would be nice to have a new list of expected performers.

As for the topic of this thread, KMMS said 28th March for another chance at the Grand Rex concert and the second half of her world tour starting at the beginning of 2009, whatever that means. Last time I looked the list of expected attendees of that concert for March on Lilly-Town.com/forum was back up to 30 from the 91 previously listed.

RL has kept me busy these last couple of months, I've been in training for a Haz-Mat Decon Team Leader position (Decon. Coordinator for my hospital), got that position, and have been working on some classes (writing and copying for the US Govt.).

Wife and I have been on vacation, and I finally get back and see news of a canceled concert, and a lot of negativity.

Well, this saddens me, of course, but we must keep in mind that (hopefully) Alizée' career will be more than just this album... Record company change, leaving MF/LB, child, marriage - all these things have happened (are happening).

Keep your spirits up, and lets just hope for the best! Even if Alizee were to drop out of music (I don't believe that she will) - she has still delivered some stunning music and hope to us, her fans.

Viva la' Alizée!
