Translation by Z3RO, Edgar, and Roman:

PARIS .- The meeting of the French singer Alizée with Gerardo and Paloma, two of his most ardent fans, who traveled directly from Mexico to know her, didn't take so long for coming. From his studios in Paris, the young singer received the 2 mexicans with open arms and shared with them her music and some of her secrets. El Universal was present and spoke with the artist.

- As French singer, why do you think the Mexicans receive (listen) so good your songs? She is one of the best selling artists in the country.
At first, perhaps because the first song they knew well, they did not understand what the lyrics said in French, it was easy to remember. They also liked the image I had before a lot.

- Has it been difficult to change your image of "Lolita" that everyone knew several years ago and show a more mature stage?
Clearly, after Being a mom my image has changed, evolved, and I have also grown up, I've matured, I want other things. Of course I do not deny that it is very difficult, because this image set to many people.

- How many times have you visited Mexico?
Four or five times (She doesn't remember !?).

- Did the image you had from Mexico changed when you first visited it?
No, not at all. I knew that the people there were very cool, not complicated, friendly and quiet.

- Do you know Mexican singers and artists?
In France we do not know much Mexican music, but I remember the actress Salma Hayek.

- Will you visit soon other countries in Latin America?
Yes, of course I will. My plans are to introduce myself in Argentina and Chile.

- What artist, French or international, would you like to sing with?
-There are many artists with whom I'd like to share the stage. First, there is Madonna, and if male, with Justin Timberlake.

When you did the "remake" of the song "Isla Bonita" by Madonna, why did you choose that particular song?
I'm a fan of Madonna since I was four years, and it's my favorite song (LIB). I had recorded that song in France for a French television program, and was like that how the Mexicans first found out about me, sharing the video through Youtube.

- Have you thought about singing in Spanish?
Yes, indeed, Adanowsky singer (her mother is Mexican, son of the filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky) has just composed a song in Spanish for me that will be released shortly.

-It must be difficult to find a balance between music, travel, your small daughter and your husband. Can you do everything?
I have people around me that helps me and understands me. Everything is a matter of good organization

Second Part (Alizee) (El Universal)
PARIS.- Alizée is not only a fervent fan of Madonna, she also revealed that she would like to sing Hip-Hop if the producer was Jay-Z himself, Beyonce's husband.

-What do you think about the tv programs about Young singers, Do they exist in France?
Yes, Of course. Here, I prefer Pop Idol to Star Academy because the first one is truly a singing contest and the second one is pretty much a reality show, see how they live, what they do, forgetting a little bit about the music.
If I had ever attended one, it would have been Pop Idol.

-Have you thought about trying other music genres as rock, hip-hop or rap?
If one day I ever have a good opportunity and I meet the appropiate people, I do no deny that I would think about it. If Jay-Z gets to appear, for example, of course I would try it.

-What have you got from the Awards you have won?
When the awards come from the public, it proves that the public wants you and likes what you do. When we stop winning these kinds of awards, it means that the public has stopped wanting us.

-Which other artists have influenced you?
-Madonna, when I was young. Blondie also inspires me a lot. Nowadays, I listen to everything (music genres), I don't have a particular favorite genre.

-Which music do you like?
I like Britney Spears a lot, I loved her last album. I have been a fan of her since she started. The Killers and Coldplay, I also listen to them. I don't care about the style, if the music is well made.

-Do you like Shakira?
I love how she sings, but what I like the most of her is that she has a voice that one can recognize on the radio. It is important that the people recognizes your voice when they hear you.

*ON THE RED SECTION*
-She is compared with Britney Spears.
She has been compared with Nelly Furtado too.

"They Said I seemed like Britney, because we started at the same age, same with Nelly Furtado. However, I want people to recognize me for what I am."

Je suis nul d'espagnol, mais ... That is, I don't know any Spanish, but here's what they say in Alizée Mexico:

Nothing is official until we get confirmation from Alizee's studio.....no disrespect to Alizee Mexico. This 'rumor' has been around for months. So lets wait and see. There's still the issue of a supposed Concert in March, in which there is been absolutely NO promotion for.

If this is true, then AWESOME!

At the risk of sending us off on a tangent, here...is this the end-of-year fan meeting that was promised after the Grand Rex postponement? Or is this something completely seperate and apart from that?

Because if it's the former, and I was a French fan who was stiffed back in October, I'd be pretty pissed right now that this took place in Mexico. I know Mexico is where it's at for her right now, but jeez Louise, talk about adding insult to injury.

I'm just sayin', is all.

It doesn't say that SONY told them. And of all fansites, why does Alizee Mexico finally "confirm" this when other sites like Nidalizee, a big french fansite utters absolutely nothing about this..or I dunno, maybe they did, i don't monitor there boards.

Sorry, but like Ruroshen said, this adds insult to injury to the French fans.

:p My english is still a bit bad

Alizée-México, Alizée-Latino and Alizée-World, had a meeting yesterday saturday 24, because a girl of Sony BMG called to all the fans to record a video directed to Alizée, of regards and she will see that Mexico continues supporting her. And the girls of Sony BMG confirmed to them that Alizée is really recording new songs (although this was known long time ago), but only it, and that the girl (Paloma) who won a trip to Paris and to the concert in Scribe.com, she is going to give her the video that they did, and it is possible that she maybe is going to be in the recording studio of the new songs.
And that was all.

Roman
01-26-2009, 12:38 AM
Yes, and I would mention that in Mexico there are maybe still thousands of fans supporting Alizée, a thing that does not exist anywhere else. Also, this appears to mean that Sony is involved in things and can and does actually make statements and confirm things. I now trust this over any official statements such as the one statement I've seen which basically stood as an advertisement for the March concert. They still want the March concert to go on of course, so they say it will, but as everyone knows from last time, it requires sales. The so called official statements of her concert organizers have a conflict of interest in telling us anything in particular about what's going on and Alizée is of course not in the habit of making statements about what she's doing. So, realize people, this is how you get information about Alizée. Wait around for a press conference or don't. What difference does it make?
Anyway, yes, this was said a long time ago and doesn't really tell us a whole lot, though it is good to get this additional confirmation. Is it a new album or something that will be released along the lines of La Isla Bonita or what? It has been 7 months since she did her last concert. One wonders what could be accomplished in that time. She took some vacation, showed up for a minute in Mexico for the award and is doing Les Enfoirés. Other than that?

No Ruro, this is completely different and apart from that. lol dont get pissed before things happen, or before we are completely sure about this. As JCC said, it is not official untill we get more news from Alizee's part, not from Alizee-Mexico, I guess no one who posts here was there, therefore we can't exactly know.

As I said on this post (http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showpost.php?p=124305&postcount=159) some days ago, the mexican fans organized a fan meeting at Mexico City , and recorded a video there, which supposedly, was going to be delivered to Alizee through one of Zeus' friend/contact/whatever from Sony BMG. She was going to go to Paris and deliver the vid there. I didn't get more news from that because the site went down some days
I will take a look at the thread on Amx.
Sony told them yesterday during their big fan meeting in person, No rumor.

I saw this posted by Julien at Lillytown and it's popped up on a few other French sites:

L'équipe de Sony Mexique est en France depuis quelques heures avec la gagnante (Et son frère) du concours Scribe, ils vont pouvoir assister à l'enregistrement d'une des nouvelles chansons d'Alizée en studio !

My lame translation:

The team of Sony Mexico has been in France for some hours with the "Scribe" winner (and his brother), they will be able to attend the recording of one of Alizée's new songs in the studio!

It was also said that Alizée has been in the studio for some months and something about a surprise. I don't know if any of this is true. It could be just rumor. But if it is true, I would say it's good news...:D

How come AA dosen't have a "Zeus"? We need a "Zeus"!

If what is rumored is true (new music), then a new promotion and tour would logicaly follow. Right?

AA can't sit back and wait for the new tour dates to be released, and then when there is no U.S. stop, say oh darn we missed the boat again.

Now is the time! Now is the time! It is time to stand up and have our voice be heard among the who's who in Lili Town! America loves Alizee! America wants Alizee!

Who is our "Zeus"???? Who will make our voice heard across the sea?

It has come to light through sources that Alizée is preparing a new album. Moreover, she is going to record a single in spanish composed by Adanowsky (a Mexican singer, son of filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky).

She will also very soon visit Latin American countries other than Mexico, e.g., Argentina and Chile which she has confirmed herself in an interview.

The interview is here:

I had to use Google Translator to understand the interview.

Thanks. Here's the original article:

While is does say she's recorded a Spanish song with Adanowsky, it doesn't say if it's for an album or what.

Since this is essentially the same info as the last news thread, I'll merge it with that.

I couldn't find this posted already; I'm sorry if it's a repeat.

Alizée is going to produce another song written for her by Latino/French singer Adanowsky. It will be sung in Spanish.

Maybe while shes in Mexico she'll just stop by in USA to do some Concerts for her American fanz!

I don't think she's fully aware that she has a small but devoted following here in the USA. Just to put a fine point on this : I know she knows WE are here - Alizée America, that is - but I doubt she thinks enough of the USA as a market for her to seriously consider performing here.

She might even have some sort of ethical or personal reasons for not wanting to perform for the USA as a country. "Americans" aren't exactly loved or respected like we used to be ... and let's face facts, the French have an annoying tendency to look down at ... well, anyone who isn't French, but especially "Americans".

(And please don't try to tell me "But Alizée would NEVER be that way ! She's too nice and sweet and perfect and you should just STFU !". She's not immune to cultural bias, no matter what her press machine might say. We don't know - with certainty - what thoughts really roll through her head, so this is all guesswork and assumptions, right ?)

I think we need to consider the possibility that she may not want to perform in the USA because she doesn't actually like us much - as a country, a culture, a body politik. She wouldn't be the first, and likely won't be the last. :(

While what you say is possible, I doubt very much that it is the reason she hasn’t entered the US market. In fact, I’ve seen many examples of things she has said and done that lead me to believe that there are things about the USA the she does like. Regardless, if her record company felt confident in her success in the USA, she’d probably be here whether she liked the USA or not. In Alizée’s defense, I would say she is probably more “worldly” in her knowledge of people and cultures around the world because of her career and travels and is probably more accepting of Americans than most Americans are accepting of the French.

I honestly believe that Alizée would prefer a career mainly in France and maybe a few neighboring countries. If she could sell 100,000 CDs per album and do concerts and TV shows there occasionally, she would be perfectly happy. I don’t think she wants any more than that and she doesn’t want her career to become too demanding or overwhelming. The trouble is, the record companies will want as much as they can get out of each release and they will drop you if you don’t deliver. If Mexico hadn’t happened, I think Alizée’s record contract and career could have been at risk.

If her record company wants her to come to the USA, then I think you might see her here. I don’t think she will be pushing for it herself, though. But Alizée is experienced enough to know it’s a business and she has to keep the record company happy too. If fans want Alizée in the US, they will probably need to come up with their own “Mexican Miracle”.

I agree with this 100%! I don't think it her goal to win over the world or the United States. Her goal is balance in her life. It's that simple and not deeper then that. Well said.

Who is our "Zeus"???? Who will make our voice heard across the sea?

well, I think you don't need your own "zeus", I guess, you need to be a little bit close to SONY USA (I don't know the real name XD), like we did here in mexico

when lilly change her "maison de disques", we, as alizee-mexico went to talk with people of sony, and they asked us "who's alizee?? XD",

And now, after much work, we had alizee in five amazing concerts and two signing sesions XD

I don't know what's the meaning of "promotion" in USA 'cause, in mexico the way of promotioning is not the same that in france, here in mexico we go out to give flyers to people in the streets, we make videos, sometimes we do stupid things XD, but anyway, this is our work way, and this, in france this is impossible

anyway, I gues AA have some fans that can do so much,

btw, AA, is an official fanclub?? it's just a question

well, that's all

No, sadly there has never been any real fan club or any serious efforts beyond a few people here in the US, at least since the end of 2006. There's this web site and there are YouTube videos, but nothing concentrated or organized. So, no. It's never going to happen. Sorry. Just the truth.

To be fair, it's tough to organize a fanclub. America is huge. The geography is a big deal: how can you have a club that can't meet physically? I get the impression that it's easier for Mexican fans of Alizée to get together. Furthermore: even if a fanclub was pulled together over the expanse of the States, how could Alizée serve it? She'd have to have concerts in Boston, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Orlando...and that's just the east coast...

It's too bad for us that Alizée may not perform in the States, but it's not unreasonable. We just have to wait and see and hope.

Regarding Alizée's attitude of America: French people do not hate America. They are just standoffish because they think Americans don't like them. And American's are wary of French because they think French don't like them....there's a lesson here.

Yeah, it's hard. There would have had to be many people in one location eventually, like San Francisco for example, or New York.
Alizée likes America fine for the thousandth time, but she's not going to initiate a promotion here (my opinion).
And I don't know if the French generally like Americans or not, but go to Paris and join couchsurfing or polyglot and you'll find plenty of friends, local and from around the world. I learned that from Ronny.

Oops, I think I didn't post the second part of the interview here .
Here it is:

Second Part (Alizee) (El Universal)
PARIS.- Alizée is not only a fervent fan of Madonna, she also revealed that she would like to sing Hip-Hop if the producer was Jay-Z himself, Beyonce's husband.

-What do you think about the tv programs about Young singers, ¿Do they exist in France?
Yes, Of course. Here, I prefer Pop Idol than Star Academy because the first one is truly a singing contest and the second one is pretty much a reality show, see how they live, what they do, forgetting a little bit about the music.
If I ever had attended to one, It had been Pop Idol.

-Have you thought about trying other music genres as rock, hip-hop or rap?
If one day I ever have a good opportunity and I meet the appropiate people, I do no deny that I would think about it. If Jay-Z gets to appear, for example, of course I would try it.

-What have you got from the Awards you have wun?
When the awards come from the public, it proves that the public wants you and likes what you do. When we stop winning this kind of awards, it means that the public did stop wanting us.

-Which other artists have influenced you?
-Madonna, when I was young. Blondie also inspires me a lot. Nowadays, I listen to everything (music genres), I don't have a particular favorite genre.

-Which music do you like?
I like a lot Britney Spears, I loved her last album I have been a fan of her since she started.

Hope it helps, and if you think something is wrong with my translation, please don't hesitate to ask me or point it out

Alizée will sing in Spanish

The French interpreter tells El Universal that she will launch a theme in our language

A review of the journey

Alizée captivates Mexicans with her provocative image

In 2001 achieves an international hit with "Moi... Lolita"

In 2003 she marries the French singer Jérémy Chatelain

In 2004 she took a recess in her career and returned in 2008

In 2009, in Paris she welcomed two fans that won a contest

(Headlines and Body of Text)

"Now, I've Matured"

The French Singer recognizes that she's in a struggle to get the people to forget her sensual image; she will record a theme in Spanish authored by Adanowsky

Paris.- The encounter (meeting) of the French singer Alizée with Paloma and Gerardo, two of her most fervent fans, who traveled direct from Mexico to get acquainted with her, was not made to wait. From her studios in Paris, the young singer received(welcomed) with open arms both Mexicans and
shared with them her music and some of her secrets. EL UNIVERSAL was present and spoke with the artist.

Being a French singer, why do you believe that Mexicans receive(accept or welcome) so well your songs? You are one of the artists most marketable in the country.

In the first place, perhaps because the first song that they got to know as such, they did not understand what was said(or meant) by the letter(words) in French; it was easy to recall(remember). The image I had before, also they liked very much.

Has it been difficult to change your image from "Lolita" that everyone recognized(knew) during various years to exhibit(display, show) a new phase more mature?

Clearly, after becoming a mother my image has changed, evolved, and I myself also have grown, matured, desire(want) other types of things. (It's) Clear that I do not deny that it is very difficult, because that image marked(set the frame of reference for) many people.

How many times have you visited Mexico?

Four or five times.

(Did) the image that you had of Mexico change when you visited for the first time?

No, for nothing(not at all). I knew that the people were very cool, uncomplicated, kind(nice) and tranquil(calm).

Do you know singers or artists that are Mexican?

In France we don't know much of the music (from) Mexico, but I do remember(recall) the actress Salma Hayek.

(Are you) Thinking to visit shortly other countries in Latin America?

Yes, clearly yes. Amongst my plans are to present myself (establish a presence) in Argentina and in Chile.

With which artist, french or international, would you like to sing?

(There) exist many, many artists with which I would like to share the stage. In first place would be Madonna **let's just hope that there's NO tonsil hockey! That's when Brittany started to spiral down the drain.** and if it's a man, with Justin Timberlake.

When you made the "remake" of the song "Isla Bonita", by Madonna, why did you select that song in particular?

I am a fan of Madonna since I was four years old and it's my favorite song. I have recorded that song in France, for a program of television, and it was that way that Mexicans got acquainted with me, exchanging that video across on You-tube.

Have you thought about singing in Spanish?

Yes, made by the singer Adanowsky ( mother from Mexico, and son of filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky) (he) has finished composing(for me) a song in Spanish that will soon go out to the marketplace.

(It) should be difficult to encounter(attain) an equilibrium amongst the music, the travel, your small(very young) daughter and your husband. (Do you expect to) Obtain (and) do it all?

I have people around me that help alot and they understand me. Everything is a question of (having) a good organization.

Ummmmm...... is it me or does that jacket look a bit, how should I say politely, ummmmm...... unflattering. I know, I know, before everyone jumps down my back, it's the dead of winter in France and she probablly had many layers on.

But I'm just sayin'

I think it's just more an issue of that's what Alizée likes. And she's often fairly casual. It's not a dress up kind of event. So, maybe you wouldn't have chosen it anyway. She did. Eh, it happens.

Exactly, she is bundled up.

However, it never ceases to amaze me how dark people dress in the northern climates - especially in cities. New York dress is positively grim in the winter. She is probably dressed in a "typical" way for Paris.

Considering this, her coat is colorful and obviously has some fashion to it. :)

Yes. This seems a little different than at other times. I mean not really surprising in that we figured it would be coming eventually (finally!) that she would be going back to Mexico and South America. She/they have been saying she would. So, yeah, we who will not be there can only hope it will be some performance. One would usually assume so, except that this is Alizée we're talking about so you never really know. What if she débuts a new song with a live performance? It's always possible. With people now saying "new album" as though it's a well established concept, it starts to look more and more like it will be to introduce new material, especially coming after the date of the concert.
In the past Alizée was all mixed up having to promote Moi... Lolita and such in Asia in 2003 after MCE already came about. As she suggested, she should not have to be doing such things now. I think she will be moved on once she introduces something from her next line up (or as we like to call it, album). It looks like probably more than two months before we know though.

EDIT Basically.... They met up with Alizée in the studio speechless and very exited. They gave her a traditional ????(could not hear it clearly, looks like a jewelry box? edgar! Reho! what is that? someone help me out here?! XD) from the state of Michoacán. She gave them some autographs and treated them to a sneak preview of the new music she is currently working on for her next album

My translation (fixes are welcome! ;))

The 2 mexicans, Paloma and Gerardo, were very happy with the company of the Singer Alizee:

She won the contest to travel to Paris, and visit the great star in her studio.

Paloma: I am very happy, and very excited (interviewer:you think?), thank you.
Gerardo: It’s too good, is… I have no words. (interviewer:you are very excited right?)

The excitement and happiness came almost into tears, Alizee gave them a surprise showing them in the studio a preview of the music that she is preparing or her next álbum.
Alizee said she was surprised for the furor she has caused in Mexico.

What do you like most about Mexico?
*French :S*

In demonstration of their affection to Alizee, the fans gave Alizée a traditional box from Michoacán, and the Singer thanked with some autographs.

That's all, and I did not like at all her "thank you guys for the box". I guess that's her style.

Because I just don't like that "WTF is this?" face when she received the box. At least one can smile, say thanks, ask what is that, hear the story behind those traditional boxes from Mexico, etc, etc.
And I think I've seen that before on Lilly. Maybe that's her way of saying thanks  Not nice though.

*EDIT* Seems like there is more work to do, a review by Paloma :)!!

Not the first time lili does that face... she did the exact same face expression when she came Mexico and they invited her to MTV top 10.

its not a WTF is this? expression its more like :o whats this :O

Yeah!!

*blows giant raspberry and flashes thumbs-down sign*

JK dude, whatever floats your boat. Although if you happened to catch her on the Grammys last night, you might just have changed your mind :D. She descended from the ceiling in a giant phallic banana, bedecked in a very skimpy cleavage-bearing outfit, and progressed to sing her "song" 'I Kissed a Girl' in a voice that sounded oddly like two hoarse cats mating. And my mom and brother were watching with me - the awkwardness was cringe-inducing .

I know :( , i still love her... :)

@edgar: I'm sorry if perhaps you misunderstood her expression. It was clearly to say, oh nice, check it out, how fancy! She was trying to be nice, but she probably has no idea if or what significance it has. I do not. I know nothing about traditional boxes from Mexico. I had no idea there was such a thing. And then she did say something after that. Maybe they stood there and discussed it for five minutes. We don't know, unless Paloma already said something about it.

Furthermore, that gold record from RCA was cool! Too bad she won't be getting one with that doggy on it ever again (nor will anyone else, in France anyway).

And I think I figured out exactly what she said:

It's kinda funny, but I've taken two years of Spanish (in high school but which I actually used on summer jobs through college), and one year of german (freshman year of college). But because of Alizée and studying French off and on independently as a result, I'm actually much more comfortable faking my way through French now. Even when I spent 3 weeks in Europe (almost exactly half in Germany and half in France) I was much more comfortable reading signs and conversing with locals while in France, despite my formal training in German!

Ah memories.
Funny thing is the original lyrics with the Spanish part at the end that you don't see in the video.

Lolita tienes que entender
Que no puedo que darme
En la cama al amancer
Quieres gozar
Pero tienes que comprender
Que no puedo passarla bien
Si no me vay a trabajar
Lolita mi amor dejame me quero escapar
Lolita por favor
Dejame para de sonar
Lolita mi amor
Si pudieras empezar
Una vida real, te doy la senal

Ah fate.

I'm sure it's really difficult to sing in a different language. The lyrics are probably meaningless (sometimes).

Expect for the songs in English, I can't remember that she ever gave an interview in English.
I have some videos in which she says Thank you at the end of song, one I'm fed up video in which she gives her intro. Remember the Moscow concert in which she says few lines in English and then says that she doesn't know English. So I am amazed about her all those songs in English. She has done well in singing all those.

I agree with you completely. Different language, even if you know it very well will be always foreign, different than this what you are accustomed to. Some expressions are unique for language, hard to translate. I could only think that I know English, but a lot of expressions are pretty hard understandable for me.
And her Spanish, well, I can say that French have some natural predispositions to speak Spanish, it's a bit easier for them, as those languages are a bit similar to each other.

I warned you! Basic words are easy, but we have very complex grammar, 7 cases for a noun. And context is really important in Polish, we almost always neglect subject. And we have veery many different idiomatic expressions.:)
