Alizee in HD

Hey guys, I don't if you know this but just recently there has been several HD videos out their of Alizee's performance. Some the newer ones (from 2008) are in it's native HD 720P. While her older performances from the MCE era have been up-converted to HD 720P but it's still not true HD 720P (but I think it still looks alot better) than the regular quality videos. I thought I would post links to some I found. You have to actually click on the video to go to Youtube's website and click on HD to get it in the larger 720P screen.

It's a real shame that Full HD (1920*1080) wasn't around in the MCE era...:(:(:(

*Edit*: Just came about a video that explains that there is now "a method for enhancing low resolution video using high resolution still images of the same scene." It seems the still images have to be shot from exactly the same angle for the method to work. But think about it: Sooner or later someone will probably figure out the algorithms to have this enhancement process work with any additional high res photo material. And there are some high-res photos of her best MCE performances, no?

Thanks Ali. The true HD videos are nice, though I'm not sold on the up sampled ones. Yeah, they look better than old SD YouTube, but not as good as the source files. YouTube is nice and convenient, and has made leaps and bounds in quality lately, but doesn't beat downloading the original clips, HD or otherwise. Well, not by upscaling, if that was your thought...
Scanning a decent 35mil. print to 2k + touch-up, colorgrading etc. is the way.

All of this so called "YouPoop HD" actually has nothing to do with HD.
It's not even close to native PAL/NTSC quality. :D

The true HD videos that have been shot originally are very nice. Nothing tops those. As for the upconverted ones the quality depends on who actually did the upconverting and the quality of the source files. There some that are out there whose quality which I think is as good as if not better than the source files, there are some out there whose quality who I would consider not better than the source files. I actually have some of Alizee originally videos but I just don't have the time go search and download all those videos, with Youtube's new HD feature I could watch HD or upconverted HD videos instantly. That's why it would be nice to have this thread where people can come and post all of Alizee's HD videos. The future is HD after all. ;)

That's not entirely true some of her newer video's Alizee (from 2008) are in fact in HD because they have been shot in native HD. Although, Youtube down sized the video to fit their screen I believe. If you are talking about some of the upconverted videos then you may have an argument. If look at videos of not just Alizee in true HD or the other HD videos on Youtube that are true HD and compare it to the regular PAL/NTSC video the quality is night and day. Because HD videos are in higher resolution. Perfect example, is the Les enfoires 2009 music video which Alizee is in that was shot originally in HD and comparing with the regular PAL/NTSC video. I will post it once I get some time to search for it.

An excellent question. The reason being is those movies even though they were older they were shot in 35 mm film or in some cases 70 mm film that's why one could easily convert it Bluray, although quality may not be as top notch as the newer films using newer and better films. I believe films resolution is greater than 1080P where as you will never get videos from the MCE era in true 1080P because they never shot using in film like they did in movies.

I think her record company dropped the ball on making HD videos of her. They could gotten HD cameras and gotten audio and video crews and shot her concert in Mexico. We could have had Alizee en Concert en Mexico in Bluray. I would have paid top dollar for the that.

Lol. The reason I posted it because the guy did an excellent job in upconverting, I think it also helps that she was behind a blue background which I think softens the image. Too bad the guy decided to be an idiot and put a troll in the mid-way eventhough it was for a couple of seconds. But the quality was great.

The 1 to 1 pixel presentation of "YouPoop HD" is 850x480.
That is less resolution in vertcal way than native pal.
And with that horrible compression scheme you don't want to watch that full screen do you? :eek:
So it is far from HD.
Without doubt it's a nice extra, but it is pretentious to call it HD.
That was my point basically. ;)
But then I would have to go find & download those clips from the original MCE era which takes time. :( So it would be nice if we could get the upconverted HD videos all in one place where people could come by and add it. Hence the sticky.
Stick with the native sized (PAL) files.
Any resolution change + re-encode will degrade the quality. Allways.

Technically 850x480 is HD. ;) They call it 480P but that is the lower resolution HD. According to Youtube their HD videos are always displayed in 720P (1280x720) and not 480P:

^^They even give you tips on how to best encode and to format your videos so you could get the best of 720P. That doesn't necessarily mean the all their HD 720P are actually full blown 720P, it depends on how well the individual did their encoding, whether it is true HD to begin with, etc. etc. as I mentioned before. However, if you do look at videos that was in HD to begin with then you can see that it in fact Youtube does in fact display their videos in 720P. For example, the professionally done and encoded movie trailers released by the movie studios on Youtube are native 720P. An example is the Terminator Salvation trailer in HD (which still looks like HD in fullscreen):

Point is I don't know any of any other sites that have a significant number of Alizee videos in true HD or even have upconverted ones that you could stream it directly. Their maybe other sites but I doubt they have the large collection of HD and upconverted videos of Alizee other than Youtube.

There was thread here a while ago discussing Alizée's Concert in HD. I remember RMJ saying that the 2004 concerts were shot using HD cams. I guess unless there is a huge demand for HD Concert DVDs, they won't bother making any.

Hmm.....You might have a slow connection. At home I have 7 mb connection. At work its 100mb, which is freaking fast. Sites load instantly. Or your computer might not be able to handle HD, if you have a really old computer. I watch Alizee vids on my 17" HD gaming laptop and I noticed from my CPU monitor, when I watch regular, HQ quality videos my CPU stays half it's speed. When watching HD videos it throttles to full speed. But if you have a newer computer (within the last 2-3 years, watching HD shouldn't be a problem).

This is probably the best picture compilation of a video that I have seen of her. Nice find! The HD pictures of her is just excellent. :wub: (I love these HD videos of her). I like how the view moves from one part of the picture to another and nice music too!

Hey does anyone know of a A Contre Courant Music Video HD on Youtube that isn't the M6 Music one? Cause those are always widescreen and won't work to download to my ipod. I need one that fills up the whole youtube video viewing window so it won't turn up small on my ipod...thanks!

You are right not a single one of them is non-widescreen.

I was just referring to the collection posted in the first post of this thread. They aren't exactly very recent but when I watched most of those videos in low quality in 2006-2007 2010 feels new.

wow ali, really nice find...specially i like "Ella elle". i know that this is not her song, but then also she sings it better then the original......also J'ai Pas Vingt ans is one of the best song of her....loved to watch in real HD.....thanks again for sharing.
