Are there any women that look a lot like Alizée? Are they any women that Alizée looks like?

Once I was flipping through the channels and stumbled upon a vin diesel movie with a women that looked a bit like her (but crap I don't remember the name).

In the attached I think she looks a LOT like Olivia Hussey (from the good version of Romeo and Juliet)

When I first saw this attached picture, I immediately thought of a certain girl at my school who is blond and looks JUST like this, same face and everything. If she had dark hair and did it like Alizee's hair, they would literally be probably identical, and I never noticed the resemblance until I saw a bright haired Alizee.

Well I concur with you Emmerich :) Ever since I discovered Alizée there is something that I relate Alizée with Natalie Portman, sometimes in some poses/ takes, sometimes in her carisma XD but in my opinion she looks somehow like Alizée :)

But there are many look-alikes of Lili around the world and most of them don't know that they are look-alikes of an Angel. Personally I never saw anyone who resemble Lili, but in Poland women have a little different kind of beauty; more Slavic.

Wow this is quite a surprise and in a way interesting. I'm also part of that few that think Natalie has something that makes her look sometimes like Alizee; just haven't found the "perfect" picture to make the smallest comparison. Great find Emmerich.

That girl does look incredibly beautiful in that first photo. Has the same type of natural beauty as Alizée, doesn't need a speck of make up like Lilly. The thrid photo is pretty good too. I'm sticking with Alizée though.

Yep, he's still chillin' in Paris from what I hear.
I believe he got a job, he does pop on to AF now and then, often not talking about Alizée, sometimes referring her in a way.

Can't say with the same confidence about the girl in the picture, but my sense is she isn't one either. Regarding her voice, I obviously have no clue. Alizée however has a lovely voice, nothing like the Hong Kong airport freakout lady being eviscerated (whoever she is).

RMJ did suffer from some major depression in prior years, drank heavily, and talked about suicide. I don't think he ever actually attempted suicide although I'm not sure. If he did it was probably by drinking himself to death. His obsession with Her Grace was just one aspect of the problems he had. If he's doing better now, I'm very glad for his sake.

He is Exhibit A in the case for "Alizée can be difficult for people with unstable personalities to approach in a balanced manner." That's why she does not establish personal contact with fans as a rule. It's more to protect the fans than it is to protect herself.

I personally think that at times (ahem) she takes this rule to unnecessary lengths, but more often than not it's a good idea. :cool:

RE: "Performer" vs "Musician" --well, B, I'm also into a lotta jazz, where vocalists have their "instruments", too. Jane Monheit, for example, has one of the greatest instruments in the biz these days. But she doesn't play it, she sings with it. Yes, she performs, but I would never call her a "performer".

Alizée-- well, she performs in the studio, but not so much anywhere else... So the term "performer" just doesn't come to my mind regarding her. Still, she makes beautiful music, with that incomparable instrument of hers. So I definitely call her a musician. (Furthermore, there have been rumors she may be writing songs now. ! . ! .) Others see other facets, other strengths, other favorite qualities. But what keeps me a fan is her music, and my respect for that.

Music is not to be taken lightly. It's broken down barriers, bridged understanding, even helped bring down regimes. It's been said that The Beatles were the first ones to start breaching the Iron Curtain and destroying the Berlin Wall. Parker, Gillespie, Mingus, Powell and the rest used music to fight racism in the U.S. They were closely followed by folks like Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, etc etc, until Jimi Hendrix became a de facto God and King.

Once I was flipping through the channels and stumbled upon a vin diesel movie with a women that looked a bit like her (but crap I don't remember the name).

I thought we had talked about this comparison before recently, but if we did, It must of been in another thread because I couldn't find it in this one, so I will mention it once again. I had heard mention of her when doing research for my recent trip to Amsterdam.

First of all I want to mention there is some confusion between Holland and the Netherlands. Amsterdam is considered to be in Holland, but the name Holland is mainly used for tourism purposes. It is actually part of the Netherlands.

She was born in Belgium. Her family moved to England at an early age and it is here where at the age of 6, she started taking ballet lessons, mainly due to the fact that she had enjoyed ballet performances she had attended.

Her mother was a baroness which probably explains that royal aura she had to her.

When the war started, her family moved to Arnhem, ironically because they thought it would be safer there than in England. She spoke English fluently at that point, but after Germany occupied the Netherlands, she was encouraged to never speak it in public.

During the war, she used to give secret ballet shows to raise money for the resistance and she also acted as a courier for them on a few occassions.

Again she lived in Arhem when Operation Market Garden ( A Bridge too far) took place in a failed attempt to secure a bridge over the Rhine. In reprisal for the locals of the Netherlands trying to help the Allies, the Germans shut off food and fuel supplies, leading into the winter of 1944. The end result was a lot of people starving in this area. It is said Audrey develped an eating disorder because of the lack of food during that time. The disorder continued after the war.

One site I saw tried to dispel the fact that she had a disorder, by saying this, but when reading it, it makes is sound more like she did hava an eating disorder;

"Audrey Hepburn never had an eating disorder. Her thin frame is a result of spending her developing years in war-torn Holland during World War II. In the last winter of the War, when Audrey was 16, all food was cut off and citizens survived on grass, tulips, and anything else they could bake into food. Coupled with this starvation was Audrey’s training as a ballerina. Notoriously strict when it comes to food, Audrey ate foods to help build her strength. The thin frame stuck for most of her life, except during pregnancies, because the effects of WWII on Audrey’s body left her with quick metabolism and a constant struggle to keep on weight. ". Maybe it wasn't technically an eating disorder, but it was a condition that caused her problems keeping her weight up.

She was quite a woman.

I have been tempted to chronicle her hair. It gets very confusing how her hair gets long, then short, then half her hair is long and the other half is short. Then curly and short. Then blonde, black, auburn, light brown, dark brown. Long bangs, short bangs, no bangs. And that is just in one year :)

There are so many intangibles that make Alizee unique. It's much more than a haircut and some dance moves and a decent singing voice.

The Russian (?) girl is very pretty and she sings the song very sexy, but will I remember it in the morning? No.

Alizee, from my very first view of JEM, had made such an impression on me,l I just don't see how it would ever be matched.

Hello autumn.leaves. Alizee was a lolita, but not the only lolita as far as France goes. Past lolitas include Mylene Farmer herself, and Vanessa Paradis. The newest one is Julia. The word is also a pretty popular female first name of Spanish origin.

I would say that its current usage is more of a label than a "path", and it's not clearly defined. Mylene created Alizee as a lolita from her own ideas, and it's obvious she picked the perfect girl. The song Moi Lolita introduced her as one to the audience, and they bought it. If it was anybody else, it might have been a dismal failure.

I believe the success of Alizee as a lolita was because of Alizee, not because of brilliant songwriting, even though the good music helped.

Personally, I don't like reporters or cameras in my face, so I sympathize with the person being interviewed. I would have ignored the reporter or moved elsewhere. As such, the woman with the coffee had no obligation to show any more decency than she was being shown.

The russian language also every day acquires more and more foreign words. Because of this the original purpose begins to be forgotten. Some skeptics predict that soon the russian language will become second english language. I am disappointed to see how my peers abandon difficult words and using simple words to convey superficial meaning.

Any russian person will tell you that when him looking at english words they will seem simple to him, and people who speak it seem be very lazy. This happens because russian people use too many forms for words, each form of which due to emotional coloring becomes an independent word.

Why can't we use facial recognition software??? Feed pictures of Alizee into facial recognition software, and have the program scan the internet for look-alikes.

After having the facial recognition software scan the internet for, let's say, 6 months, we take the closest matches and we contact and audition them.

French is a beautiful language; the Russian language not so. A direct interpretation of some of Alizee's songs I'll bet would not have sounded good, yet she did a decent job of coming up with a story in Russian that sounded good.

I see some simple improvements she could make. In this video, the lighting is harsh, producing glare in the background and it's too bright on her face.

The settings them selves need improvement. She did a cover for 'A Cause De L'automne'. It should have been done outside and much preferably at that time of year.

Another things is the looks on her face when the song is at a point where there's only music with out words (What's the technical term for that part of a song). It changes a few times in one section and Violetta looks unsure of herself.

I think one of the keys to Alizee's early success was the supreme confidence she showed on stage. Look at the beginning of this performance. The very cute look, the 'soft' lighting. It mesmerizes you and she hasn't even started singing or dancing yet! So those parts of the video where Violetta is not singing, should not be taken lightly. Learn how to use those moments to your advantage. She's a good looking girl....show it off.

Yes, she is a great poet and she managed to create an awesome interpretation. The latest version of "Moi... Lolita" she did is in Spanish. I see more potential of using Spanish and English, and I can se she understands this as well.

Well we could debate that last point about Alizee, but it doesn't really matter in what we're trying to do here and that is give her suggestions. Again at the part where she's not singing, at points she is saying something, but there are no words in that part of the song. I know a woman who is humble in everyday life, but put her in front of an audience to make a speech or presentation (even a big one), she has no fear. She admitted she feels no stage fright. I want to apply this to Alizee. Naturally shy and reserved, you can see evidence of that just by her body language sometimes. But she somehow gets "in the zone" performing in front of an audience. Lots of eye contact with the camera. It comes off as confident to me, but situational. I think she has learned to cope with stage fright somehow. Maybe it's just all those years of performing in front of an audience while she was a child. It's just one of those gifts that make her a natural entertainer.

Still on the topic of confidence, how much work did MF have to do with Alizee to hone her performances and interviews? Somehow I get the feeling that much of what we see with Alizee is a natural gift. I don't think MF had to build Alizee from scratch, but maybe smooth out the rough edges, instruct her on do's and don'ts. I can see more about Alizee during her interviews, and I have been amazed on how composed and mature she is, even when she was very young.

Most of us have seen this interview when she was 17. She does not behave like most 17 year olds in this situation. Alizee listens intently with full eye contact with the interviewer. She is warm and friendly and generous with her smiles and face scrunches. She answers the questions calmly and maturely beyond her years.

Confidence? Definitely yes. I think she takes this confidence right to the stage with her when she performs.

That is a valid explanation. Would you speculate that this would apply when doing an interview? Is it possible to catch Alizee off guard, where she might show her timidness and shyness, something she said that she had to overcome. I wonder if she still struggles with it sometimes.

Sometimes my memory can bring up the strangest things from a long time ago. I loved the movie Airplane!, and that was released in 1980. It was a slapstick comedy and became a classic. I was also a David Letterman fan, and remembered seeing Julie Hagerty on his show one night, who was one of the main characters, playing a stewardess. On his show, however, she was like a deer in the headlights. I was amazed that somebody who is an accomplished actress can almost freeze with fear, even though on the Letterman show her exposure was still limited.

It was an awkward situation to begin with--- Alizee crashing an 8-year old’s birthday party and then having to dance with the little kid in front of all those people. Its painful to watch--- I can't begin to imagine how Alizee must have felt.

I believe they are her parent's cats. Alizee lived with her parents for a while when she moved back to Ajaccio before finding her own apartment. Her cat photos stopped suddenly four or five years ago and has been all dogs since.
