I often noticed there was something at the top center front of that beautiful white dress Alizée wore at the begining of En Concert. I finally decided to take a closer look and found out it looks like a Z. Well I thought this must be some designers logo but at the same time I thought this looked an awful lot like the sign of Zorro! I decided to look up Zorro in Wikipedia. I found the history of this story and I posted it below, involves him romancing Lolita Pulido.

Now and then I have peeked in at and enjoyed Alizée America, but today I finally registered, as I wanted to make a post.

You see, the other month I came across a relatively new Website which looks back at the original Mickey Mouse Club from the 1950s. In conversing by e-mail with its Webmaster, I came to realize one might try to argue that Alizée is something of the second coming of Annette Funicello.

I came to this forum because it seemed to be the best place to bring attention to the creation of this page. Did I get a laugh when I saw the topic "Zorro"! When you explore the page, you'll see why. (Hint: make sure you are up on your Alexandre Dumas, as well as your "Zorro".)

By the way, I like the spelling "Lily" because the flower reminds me of France. When Alizée signs her nickname, does she use the double-el spelling? Or has she never signed any public autograph, etc. with anything but Alizée?

Thank you, Karla. Since you made so kind a reply, I took a look at some of the "footprints" you have left behind at this website.

It so happens I was born in Brownsville, too - but the OTHER one, in Brooklyn - and a long time ago! Like you, I started learning French as I began high school (four decades ago!) But I only studied a year, until I could switch to German, which was much easier for me. The last time I used French on an everyday basis was for a short spell while working on the shore northwest of Corsica, when Alizée was not even a year old. Since then, Alizée's French has become far, far better than mine! ;)

You say you do not watch much TV - but did you know you there is a free online archive of contemporary Corsican TV shows on the Internet? It is mainly in French, but there is some Corsican too. I wonder if your knowledge of French and Spanish would make it easy for you to understand Corsu? Sadly, there is no free Corsu-English dictionary on the Internet, (((- I later learned where one can find some free Corsu (Corsican) dictionaries online, see below -))) but Corsu looks VERY much like Italian - except with a lot of extra U's!

You did not like the dress Alizée wore when she sang "Sounds of Silence" in Moscow. But I paid no attention to the dress. What amused me was that she said it was her favorite song since she was a little girl. Why? Because I attended the same high school the song authors did, except 15 years later.

Since you liked my Web page, and are tickled by Spanish content, I will point you at an earlier Alizée page I also created, which features a hook to "Hey, Amigo!" and even an Iberian saint! I remember Annette Funicello in my younger days and yes, she was a wonderful person, just like Alizée.

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to put a short cut to your web page to make it easier for other members to view. I'd also like to make a suggestion. When you put as much time and effort into this as you obviously did, you should start a new thread. There are some people who've already seen this thread and probably would not revisit it, knowing it was more or less designed just to bring some humor into the forum and it would be a shame for them to miss out on what you've done.

The comparison between the two, Alizée and Annette is very interesting. I saw that page. Whoever has made it, I think, he/she will be fan of both. Comparison has been made not only by the biographies but also by the various picture of them. Must have done a research on both of them.

Thank you for "promoting" this discussion I elicited to its own thread. :) Since you had mentioned Zorro, and I had a Zorro clip within my page already - and also because I was a newcomer - I had thought it was more polite for me to add to what you had written, rather than start by "grandstanding."

I also appreciate the direct link to my page you have made. The board bounced my attempt to create same, because I had not yet made at least 5 posts. Thus I had to get sneaky. (The board makers obviously put in that feature to partially frustrate URL spamming.) Perhaps I should have simply made five pointless posts to reach the quota, rather than use the trick I do.

Let me also correct an earlier mis-statement. I now know where one can find some free Corsu (Corsican) dictionaries online - albeit they translate to and from French, not English. Auxiliary translation between French and English online is easy, because of many free translation tools like Google (http://translate.google.com/), Babelfish (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/), etc. To get to my point, find the needed Corsu tools at these places:

(The last tool is a bit problematic, as it requires that you install and configure some software. An added step I had to take, which was not documented, was re-spelling the word "Francais" as "Français" as part of the names of two files.
