No, those people are NOT American. They're all French. Which is interesting, cause maybe they ARE all trying to get into US and English-speaking markets... I mean, why wouldn't they be, but for years we'd all just assumed those French artists didn't care about us.

I recently asked my French neighbors (as their boy was playing "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" on piano) if the French have a lot of their own Christmas songs. No! Then I asked if they have their own French lyrics (peut-être "Père Noël Viendra À La Ville"...) Again, no! Interesting.

So maybe it's not so surprising or strange that this song is sung in English, too...

I was thinking the same, and also that she wavered off-key a bit. She's always had that tendency in live performances, especially when nervous, but this was recorded. Practice, practice, practice.

Still, it's good to see her moving towards something that, with good execution, may retrieve the failure of UEDS.

I say again that I don't think she was ever moving toward it. It's just something that came up and she went with it. I am sure that if Tahiti Boy had written this in a very techno electronica style and asked her to sing on it, she would not have refused.

I do agree that anything that brings out her voice in a way that she can comfortably sing has got to be good because she has a very sweet lovely voice. It has a certain girly quality that is just cute rather than annoying. I have always liked the simple mellowness of her voice. At the same time, she can be plenty expressive if she really tries and without being overwrought. Dang. I was recently listening to some of the I'm Fed Up remixes and even there, she was very expressive singing in a very sexy way and it was great, but she still didn't veer into the annoying "affected" sound that certain singers do (which gets old quickly). She has a certain natural quality, which whether it is or not, it seems to be.

When she's good, it's really great just to hear that voice that makes you fall in love with her instantly. And then one imagines the loving light that it would bring to the world, if only more would be so affected by it. She has that adorable quality. She has a grounded angelic quality (and no that's not an oxymoron. It's the rare Alizée quality that when it hits you, you know what I mean.)

Exactly, she has a beautiful voice... but the reason it is low isn't because she is loosing her voice, (I mean, WTF people?) it's because it was mixed that way.. this isn't a live performance... Tahiti boy wanted that part of the song quieter, and from the looks of it, he was consulting with Alizee on stuff. We all know Alizee may be shy, but not when it comes to getting things done the way she wants.

Hmmm...someone asked this earlier in the thread but no one found an answer.

On the youtube video it shows who participated in the video. So you can just google all the girls names and see if it turns up with her :)

Maybe someday in the future Alizée will release a purely Christmas album. Singing more of the traditional songs.. my personal favorite has to be Walking in a Winter Wonderland. Now to hear that sung by Alizée would really make it an awesome Christmas! :wub:

Sorry all, I've already messed up TWO threads with this question now, when it really should've gone here. (Gracious thanks to the mods for putting this post in the right place!!) Um, here's my question:

...last year's song was pretty darn good... except... I always had a problem with the chorus! I can't make heads or tails of that last line: "It's Christmas and it won't be the last / It's Christmas so forget about your past / It's Christmas and we'll all be all right / So please this Christmas, don't mumble mumble garble garble glorp" ! Seriously! (Way to screw up the whole effort, Tahiti Boy!) ... What the heck were the words they were singing last year??? (or what the heck were they eating while they were singing?) :confused:

So does anyone know or have lyrics for last year's song? It'd be so great to sing along with if we could just tell what they're saying!

BTW, yes, I'm interested in lyrics for THIS year's Xmas song, too. (But at least it's not as completely unintelligible as LAST year's was!)

I really really would, because I love the songs. But I like to save them for Christmastime, each one reminds me of the one released the year before. Listening to them during the rest of the year would take away the Christmasy feel for me

OK, ok... I want to know exactly who is already starting to listen to this now that it's Christmas time or at least almost Christmas time?
