Please excuse the fact that I've created a thread to be based entirely on me and I'm an attenrtion-whore, but I've had a few Alizée-related occurances from the past week that I'd like to share and I'm too lazy to find the right threads and cleverly work them into conversation:

Wednesday - I gave my mom her first dose of Alizée. The ride out to where we were going was pretty quiet. I had my cds sitting on my lap, but I was too nervous to put them in. On the ride home, I fried to fill the quiet with conversation, but after I couldn't possibly talk anymore, and having gone hours without any Alizée, I put in Gourmandises. I stuck to all the slower songs, started off with a little "Lui Ou Toi" to gradually introduce my mom to her, but not start off with some full-blown pop princess-song like Moi...Lolita. I giggled beacuse she kept turning it up. I slightly explained the different songs we were listening to as best I could and kinda made some things up in the gaps, but she kept turning them up when I would put them on. I ended every sentence with "and she's really hot" to keep her enjoying the songs without thoughts of her son being a little floozy. After the first song, I let L'Alizee play because I guess the shock was over and I trusted that she could take it. Then a snippet of Parler Tout Bas, and I explained that Alizée sings poppier stuff too. The only erk I had was that I didn't have my MCE cd, and couldn't let her hear Amélie m'a dit. Lastly, A quoi Rêve une jeune fille, when we got home, we both kinda just sat there a while and let the song play until the end. She told me she enjoyed it and it was good music.

Thursday night - At school I was giving a presentation and my professor asked me a question, I couldn't hear her so I caught myself doing that little lean dealie Alizée does in the MTV Italy video and from there I started thinking about her and completely lost my train of thought.

Saturday - Second experiance listening to Alizée in the car with mom, a few minutes into MCE she stopped it I told her a little more about her, she told me from the sound of her she must be sort of short and petite, I told her "yeah, and she's cute as hell too". Then she took a guess from the french-ness that she has dark hair and dark eyes. I've ignored my french heritage for so long it hadn't even occurred to me my mom might know the stuff I was talking about. I even told her Alizée was from Corsica and she seemed to know exactly where it was. I was pretty amazed at my mom(when she said dark eyes I thought "if she only knew..."), she got everything right on without any help from me. My mom is usually asking me about girls' hair color and stuff and but I never answer her. I was chatting away before I realized my mom finally broke me. By the time Amélie m'a dit came on I was comfortable explaining the part where she sings "I'm not pretty" and the crowd hold up signs and stuff because it is by far the most untrue statment ever to be made, my mom told me she would like to see my En Concert DVD sometime.
......After the first run through of MCE(skipping Yupidoo), I was half asleep and my mom came up with the idea to listen to it again out of her own incentive. All I can remember from the second round is that I woke up at the "J'suis pas belle" line again and to my mom's suprise shouted "nope" at the speakers with a big grin on my face. After MCE a second time she got another listening to most of Gourmandises too. Later on my mom started asking questions about if she writes all her own stuff, so I explained the Mylene/Boutonnat situation. Somewheres along the trip she asked if Alizée ever does anything in English, I told her she does, my mom said she must have an accent, I said "yeah, and it's cute as hell", she told me she'd like to hear those performances someday too. From that I had to tell her that all this stuff was a few years old and that as far as everyone knows, she was taking english classes, but she's taking a break.
......In the end, as she dropped me off at my sister's, I left Gourmandises in my car for her in case she wanted to listen to it on the way home, but insdead she asked me to find some other cd(Soundtrack to Avenuq Q - demented puppet Sesame Street parody where that song in that WoW "The Internet is For Porn" song comes from; I've seen it in Vegas, and have to admit I know most of the songs and it's pretty funny at times).

Saturday night - I spent the night at my sister's college, ended up stopping by a party where I come to learn that her boyfriend and his roomate have their own radio show. For your viewing pleasure, here's an over-simplified version of the conversation performed in owl format:

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/6305/setjh9.th.jpg (http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=setjh9.jpg)

Their show is taking a break for short bit because of a new semester, but I explained to him about this inexplicably hot french singer he needed to air and he agreed they could try her stuff someday. This all took place in a drunken-haze, so I don't know how much of the conversation stuck, but I'll keep on them about it.

Sunday - My cousin recently had a baby so I was at a family barbaque. Naturally when I'm around my family together anywhere I tend to sit back and picture how neat Alizée would fit in.
I guess more than anything else, my heritage is french. I've always known I was more french than anything else, but just kind of ignored it. But lately I've been paying attention, and my family is prety damn french. The last names from my mom's side are totally french, my great aunt and mom were describing the baby's features and explained how they came from the french-ness.

GODDAMN THIS KID NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO PARAPHRASE

Nice story but it's bit sad that you need to keep telling "how hot she is"... Why not simple show the music as it is, when clearly it was all about the music.

Well, I find it sad because he needs to hide his real feelings. Dunno, it just a thought I got from the story. It sounded like he was ashamed of liking her music, so he needed to hide it under those "btw, she's hot" comments. That's I felt it was little sad.

I understand where that train of thought might come from, but it wasn't that bad. There was no shame about it, I blast my Alizée regardless of who's listening. But you must keep in mind that we've been exposed to Alizée for a long time, from someone elses' perspective it's a little uncommon for a 18 year old male from california to be listening to and thuroughly enjoying a frenchie pop-princess. My mom knows there's something screwy going on with my Alizée status, she's asked me before who the girl I'm fantasizing about is just by the way I walk, and simply the fact that I responded to her hair color put her gave her a clue. I've been giving her bits and pieces for a long time, my mom knows I'm nuts.

Well, it is great that you aren't ashamed of her.

Altho, now that you have told it, I find it even more weird that you kept fixating on her hotness. :) But I guess it was kind of way to make her think that you are "normal American teen", attracted to beautiful girl. Even if the girl happens to be "wrong nationality". Heh, sorry for analyzing this but it just made me wonder the reasons behind it...

Oh well, most Americans should be like you anyways. Not to be scared of the world outside. And not to scare how you look in the eyes of other Americans when you care about the world outside.

"J'suis pas belle" what does this mean? Bird said he shouted Nope loudly in front of speakers when this line came. Anything wrong with the wordings?

Biggest lie ever, not even Alizée can pass saying that

When she sings that part in concert the crowd holds up signs that say things like "tues bella" and she slips in a giggle in her next line...ah, I love it :p

I'll admit that have interjected a "She's Hot!" in there when introducing Alizée. It's hard to introduce Alizée to some of my friends w/o showing them a vid first. They find it strange to listen to music in a language that you can't understand. Yet, I've had other friends say they don't care when I told them I was gonna play French music.

Recently I've started introducing Najoua Belyzel to some friends too. (She reminds me of a Sarah Michelle Gellar/Lisa Kudrow mix--although she'll never take Alizée's spot :D )

The sign says "tu es belle" to be exact. :)

But yea, it's one of my all time favorites from the concerts. She's absolutely adorable when she is about to burst in to wild giggle. But somehow, she manages to keep it down and continue. Only small change in her voice is hearable and the smile on her face. She was really close to lose it totally. :D

Hey what's wrong with french girls? :(

And to rwd's post:
I guess it's not always the lyrics that count. I've listened to some J-pop a friend of mine had and I thought it was pretty good even though I had no clue what it meant.

RMJ was referring to the statement of bird's where he was infering that his listening to Alizee was weird because she was French (would have been the same situation if you replace French with any other foreign nationality, it's just foreign and unusual and some people frown on that out of ignorance). RMJ said it in quotations to show it was a previous statement and not neccessarily one he himself was agreeing with.
