I've never attended even a single planned autograph session, so I don't know much about the culture which surrounds this custom these days. Certainly I've seen some professional photography done of a portion of a session, but I wonder about the etiquette of spontaneous amateur photography.

It would be great if Scruff could pull off some videography of the Corsican girl signing his stuff. The logistics would be tricky if he goes to France alone, but not impossible, if it was permitted.

You can now buy a decent entry-level flash-memory camcorder you can carry in your pocket for about $50. I could make a documented buying suggestion, if wanted.

Scruff, if you are interested, you might try making a deal with someone else in line: You shoot them getting an autograph, if they shoot you. The Internet is so widely used now that I bet it would prove persuasive if you sincerely promised to put their video clip on YouTube with an identifier tag of their choosing to let them find it. (You can trade e-mail addresses, if they have one, as well.) Who knows? Maybe there will be others bringing cameras along! If so, it might be better if one guy shoots the other with his OWN camera, because it is a familiar tool.

An autographed item is nice, but a short video clip helps better keep alive the special occasion on which it was created...

"Un millier de baisers, Alizée America!"

Wouldn't you just die to see a video clip where she says that? <G>

P.S. The token couldn't hurt.

I second this idea! But make sure that by ALL means, you ask her BEFORE recording her? I'm sure you will, just have this here for reassurance!

Great awesome news, but can't go:(. Not enough money and college. Oh well I trully hope Scruffydog enjoys that moment:).

Regarding the camera/video idea, I think it's a good idea, yet seeing this video^ and others before, Alizée's body and security guards always deny the fan(don't know why) to take video or photos during the autograph signings. So if Scruffy dog wishes and wants to he could adquire one of those mini portable cams Doctv suggested and live a liitle bit of his experience.

Also, it would be great if AlizéeAmerica decides to ask Scruffy to hand her a copy of our Letter to Alizée. That way we would definetly assure ourselves she received our letter, because we have not herd anything from Julien nor we know if he was able to gove it to her. So this could be our secure chance. :) EDIT: It wouldn't also hurt if we gave her a teddybear of the AAm shop or any present of her liking from her fans of AlizéeAmerica:)
Bon Voyage Scruffy! And the best wishes to Alizée from AlizeeAmerica:)

That's an excellent idea Alex, I hope Scruffy will be ok with it. I wonder what she'll say to him about it, if she says anything at all. I think there will be several fans recording stuff (or at least trying to) so we might get a glimpse. Anyway, have a safe and wonderful trip Scruffy!

Wow. This is really trippy that this is coming up again after so long and everything in between. Scruffy went last time, though I didn't really know him then or meet him. I'm sure he remembers it well and how to take photos, etc. I'll not be going this time in case anyone wonders. The time I did go was one of the coolest things I've ever done though.

That's a good idea about the pictures, something I have already given thought to. I still don't count my chickens until they're hatched and right now I'm still waiting for a very big one to hatch in gettiing my passport back in time. I should because I expedited it, but I'm still worried. Right now it looks like I might have a co-worker going with me and we will definitely be taking pictures and or videos of each other if we do.

I went to the autograph session back in 2007. I made the mistake of going to the Louvre late that morning. It's a huge museum with lots to see. I lost track of time and by the time I got back to the hotel, showered and back to Virgin megastore, a pretty good line had already formed. I was quite a ways back from where Roman, RMJ, Ben and the others were.

I had no idea how these things worked. I had never cared about a celebrity or singer in a way where I tried to get an autograph from them. I thought you get in line, you come to a point where you buy the album, then you get her to autograph it. So after being in line for a while, some of the French people started talking to each other and they started pulling out the albums out of their backpacks, purses, bags, what have you and showing them to each other. Then the horror set in realizing you had to buy the album beforehand and I was emptyhanded with the exception of an autogaph book I had brought that had a note to her that a fellow aircraft mechanic who was originally born in France, then moved to the states had helped me write. I thought man, she's going to think I'm a cheap ass American!

The line was way long by now and I thought if I get out of line now to buy the album, I might not make it back to her before she has to leave. I was worried sick. After a while though, there were apparently some people in the same boat as me and when we got to a point in line up to where some of the security folks were, they let us out of line, to go purchase it and let us rejoin the line at the same point. So I bought 5 for me and people I work with, which is great, the more she has to autograph, the more time you get to stand in front of her just gazing at her.

That was probably the best moment for you:rolleyes:, just sitting there knowing she is the one you have been watching on your computer screen all along:wub:, and that she is right there:D. Must have been amazing man:D, I bet you just wanted to talk with her for hours and ask alot of questions:rolleyes:. That's how I would feel:wub:. And no guys not being perverted by gazing at her:p...

used alot of smilies in that haha

wow, probably the most meaningful post i have ever put on this site, the things that would go through my head in that 1minute I would see her up there signing...Too bad it won't be for a while....if ever:(

Gee, thanks Lefty! I had not seen that before, nor would I have recognized Ben without your notice. This is the sort of thing I had wanted to see, and it seems that <i>France 4</i> did a professional job for us. If it is not yet done, it would also be nice to point at this video from the collection of videos kept on site.

But it would still be nice if Scruff could get the Corsican girl to say hello to AAm on video. Wouldn't that be a swell clip to put on the home page?

Since we are discussing the Open Letter and such, I'll bring your attention to the fact that I <a href="http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showpost.php?p=154177&postcount=16">again looked</a> at some traffic statistics for Alizée's official Web site, having first done that less completely a <a href="http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showpost.php?p=151335&postcount=12">month earlier</a>.

According to <i>Alexa</i>, the US component of that traffic has soared from an unknown amount below 2.7%, up to 10.2%. Perhaps no one knows exactly how that relates to her popularity here in the US, but at least US traffic is no longer negligible. You can share that news with the next person who asks what is happening in America to support Alizée.

<i>Quantcast</i> confirms that the most traffic is now coming from France, followed by Mexico, and also documents that the US, Russia and Germany all are important as well.

I want to go

but even if I could make such a short notice trip,

I wouldn't want to.

I just don't want to meet her in that type of setting, I mean... You can see Alizée is trying to be kind and polite, but she has to keep that face on for that entire line times at least twenty seconds each... I'd feel better helping her by giving her 20 more seconds of life that wouldn't have been wasted on me.

She will see the same set number of people whether you go or not.

The only question is whether you wish to be one of them or not. :)

I don't want to meet her in that type of setting, either, but the reason is for ME, because I would feel weird doing it. I don't think it makes any sense to avoid it for HER sake. She has fun at such things and of course helps advance her career in the process. She's giving fans who are into such things a thrill, and that makes her feel good and she benefits from it in other ways. So if you want to see her and get an autograph, and you can, do. You're not doing her a favor by staying away.

nope.

Mathematically, it will forever be one person less than what it could have been.

If 100 go, it could have been 101...

If 1,000 go, it could have been 1,001..

My renewed passport was in my mailbox when I left for work last night so it looks like I will be in Paris on the 29th. Have we heard from Ben yet with any word as to whether he may be going or not. If it turns out that I'm the only one from AA to be going to this and the members here want me to present the open letter everyone has been working on to Alizee, although I don't feel worthy of that honor, I would gladly do it and try my best to do a good job of it.

As it turns out, a co-worker e-mailed me yesterday and said he'd like to go too. He is a big fan and also a member of this forum. He comes here all the time for info, but I don't know if he's ever posted anything.I don't even know his name in the forum. He's a good guy and a credit to the company I work for and I think he too would make a good representive for this forum. There's still plenty of time left, so if someone else from this forum decides to go and you'd rather have them do it, that's fine with me. I'm just happy to be able to go to this event.

Well, great Scruffy that you are going:) I hope you enjoy your time in Paris.

Thanks for video, when I saw that man before Ben, I just knew that he's this "famous" RMJ, before he said anything; even that I never saw any photo of him.

I want to attend next Alizée album autograph session, but not this one, even that I'm much closer to Paris than most of you.

Well here's an update on my plans for the autograph session. It was suggested that I present the open letter to Alizée. I think this is a good idea because we have no idea if she even got to see it. The main question I have is should I change the date on it? It says January 2. Probably really doesn't matter much.

I hope to get a folder for the letter. The nice kind that you see where some type of award or graduation certificate is being presented to someone. I will just use the 2 pages written in French. I will have something stenciled on the cover with the forum name, the 2 crossed flags and " An open letter to Alizée" or maybe "A letter to Alizée". Time is running short, so I'll probably have to make a decision by tomorrow. I tried stopping by a printing store today, but they were closed due to the heavy rains we're having here.

Someone else suggested we ask her to say hello to this forum. I will try my best to get this done. My digital camera crapped out on my last trip, so I'll be ordering a new one this week, one with movie capabilities, but I will try and borrow a camcorder if my co-worker doesn't have one. I will try and hook up with members of the Alizée forum and hopefully we can work something out where they will take pictures and film us and we'll do the same for them.

Being a representative of the forum in this way, I wanted to wear something that had Alizée America on it. I wasn't too impressed with what the forum had to offer (sorry Ben). I wanted something classier than a t shirt, thought maybe a polo shirt or windbreaker. The guy at a local store that does this type of thing, showed me a type of windbreaker type shirt that wasn't bad looking. In trying to keep with the colors of this forum, I chose a black one and he is going to try and put the two crossed flags with Alizee America written in a similar way that it's written at the top of this page, using red and white. He wasn't sure about the flags, mainly because time is short and they do a lot of business. I also asked him to make up a couple of baseball caps with the same thing if he could. Hopefully these things will come out decent looking. I want to do a good job representing this forum. I really think someone younger should be doing it but at least my co-worker who will be going with me is a young whipper snapper (40).

Scruffy, you are amazing. Yah well if we had a young representative then it would look like we want her(although we do haha don't lie guys). And if you have an older guy(40), then it looks like we are all creepers. So either way we will seem weird. But she doesn't care, she loves all fans, no matter how old or creepy, or even how bad they are at singing JEAM. uhhhh

Merci Alizée

Great ideas Dave. You have really put up good thoughts to make this trip best. Only thing that I was thinking that whether you'll be able to do all these before leaving. You haven't told us that when will you be leaving for the Paris. Also one more thing, is really no one else from this forum going there. If someone else is going, then I would request him to tell us as it would be nice if more people go there. I understand that it's not that easy. But the more number of people will represent more support.

Letter and the dress are good ideas. Try to get best out of it. May be we all should present our ideas here for this, like we did for the letter. This is one opportunity and we should utilize it.

In my mind at least, the letter would have been an awesome idea had we not already sent it to Her Grace and Beauty in several forms.

If we present yet another copy... well, we don't want her thinking we're obsessed or anything

Presenting the letter won't make her feel that we're obsessed, but it will show that we're serious fans whom she can count on.

In my mind at least, the letter would have been an awesome idea had we not already sent it to Her Grace and Beauty in several forms.

If we present yet another copy... well, we don't want her thinking we're obsessed or anything

Is this letter thing a good or bad idea? I need to know soon. I can probably wait til the end of the week. Maybe somebody else can come up with an idea of presenting her something along these lines using a folder like I mentioned with Alizée America on the outside. Time is critical at this point though.

.................

I mentioned before a fellow aircraft mechanic will be going with me. He's a rookie, only 40 years old, but a good guy. He's actually a member of this forum and a huge fan of Alizée of course. He comes to this forum often to read but he seldom posts. I don't even know his forum name. I definitely wouldn't want to do this by myself. Wouldn't make a good impression with just one person, but at least we will have someone there. The only other member I've heard mention they might be going is someone from Europe. I hope he does and joins up with us because it'll make a better impression the more people we have.

As far as my travel plans. We plan on leaving that Saturday on Air France flight AF337 that leaves 6:25pm and arrives the next morning at 7:10 am (Sunday). It's a Scarebus A340..........I'm sorry, that's just a term we in the industry use sometimes...........I wouldn't be flying across the Atlantic on it if I didn't have complete confidence in it. It's an Airbus A340-300. Flight time is roughly 6 hours and 45 minutes.

I could fly on my own airline but this month I'd have to fly to New York and catch a flight over the pond from there. We'd have to rely on our commuter partner to get us there and often doesn't work out well. A lot of time when the plane isn't full, it's weight limited in which case they can't put a full load of passenger on. Starting April 1st we do have a direct flight to and from Paris.

So we'll get there bright and early sunday morning, get in a full day of tourism if the weather cooperates. A little more touring monday morning and right now I think I'll plan on getting to the record store around 2pm. The signing starts at 6.

Next day, we'll get up early, take a train to Caen, rent a car for the day, hit the beaches at Normandy, then catch a train back that night to Paris. Fly back Wednesday morning..

Wish I was going also, but schedule will not allow it. Ideas for presenting the letter:
I am guessing artists get lots of things from fans at an event such as this. Maybe not as I have never been to one. But I think that adding something to make it personal would be best. Something that catches her eyes, or ears.
1. Like adding "From your fans" to the folder. (Or use "friends" instead of fans).
2. Does tinkerbell still peak her interest? (yeah, I am still 10 years behind all of you)
3. Or a build a bear with AAm logo? (I would even spring for it)
4. I am assuming you can speak some french also to make it more personal?
I am just throwing these out there for all to comment on. Don't worry, I can take the hits if need be. After all, what do I know as the new kid on the block?

You have my vote and total support on taking the letter to Alizee. Hopefully some other members from AAm may also go and join you aswell :). Do whatever you think is the best way to present this letter to her, just that we want to see this other baby before it is delievered, so any pics would be nice :). If you still think the overall forum in undecisive well, how about a voting poll to decide on this issuse;).

I see your point Jalen, but what if by a SMALL chance she hasn't seen, read or knows anything about this letter. This could be our final and certain chance to really be sure she gets it, reads it, and knows she has our full support from her fans of AlizeeAmerica(US,Mex,Inda,etc..) So why not have that knowing she has received it and why not have some pictures or even video of her taking our letter into her hands:rolleyes:. Hopefully you change your mind dude, and see this as a secured chance:).

Once again thanks Scruffy, wish the best on your trip and have fun Dude enjoying that one in one encounter with Alizee:wub::).
Bon Voyage!

Bonjour Alizée ! Je viens d'Alizée America. Pourriez-vous regarder la caméra là (point of course) et dire, « Hello Alizée America » ?

There you go. There's your script to have her say hello. :)

Yeah, it's too bad I can't try one more time to say something in French. Has over two additional years of study prepared me to speak to her any better?

Merci Alizée

I had asked once Ben about the last autograph session that he attended. He told that he just hurried up the things as he didn't want anything to go wrong. I hope that nothing like that happens to you. Well speaking French is a good point. Can you really converse in French? English would also do, but I guess French would be better.
One thing that I can suggest you that if you decide to take the letter, then prepare a very short summary of the letter, just 3-4 lines, translate it in French. Then you can speak this while presenting the letter.

Good idea. Also I would suggest saving the letter in a USB or print out a copy just incase you forget it here in the US, hotel, gets lost or something, better be prepared for anything;) I'm still wondering if Ben is planning on going aswell , haven't heard much about him recently.

................................. After all, what do I know as the new kid on the block?

You made mention the other night of how you found out about Alizée. Why don't you tell us. I'm sure everyone would like to hear. There's a thread for that where you can find most of our stories,
http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4611
or you can post it here, either way works.

P.S.

I also plan to mention to Alizée how many of us have been voting for her on Radio Atlantis. I'm sure she must know about it.

Edit: I'm almost afraid to ask this question but does anyone want me to buy a copy of the new album and have Alizée autograph it for them. With a lot of people preordering the limited edition one, I imagine not too many people would have any money left for this. I would imagine it would run about $25, that's U.S. dollars of course, maybe more if they package some little extra along with it.

I was afraid of this, afraid it might snowball, but that's a great thing. The more I give for her to autougraph, the better impression it will make of our forum and as I had mentioned before, I get to gaze at this beautiful woman while she's signing. Wow this could complete my life, but sadly I already sent my $30 to my sister to order it on Amazon. And I don't want to get a signed copy and my parents ask,"how did you get that Frenchie to sign that, and first how did you get the album?" And then when I tell them it was some really nice guy online they would freak out haha. Not that you are some creepy online dude that I don't know, well I don't know you though. I love how saying my problems make me feel better....I need to take a deep breath. Buy yah thanks for the offer Scruff!

O and don't be surprised if you have to buy 50copies, and are you sure she will sign maybe even 10? Does anyone know if there was a limit you could get her to sign stuff last time? Cuz no offense to you since you are doin a great thing, but she might not be pleased with a stack of 20CD's on the table and all the people in line waiting for their chance to see her...i dunno

Hey Scruffy, are you sure she would be interested in signing all the CDs...assuming a long lines of fans there, she might not like to sign all the CDs for us...Moreover, incase her guards dont allow a single guy to spend too much time, I would suggest the first priority should be to give her the letter and let her know about her devotees here in the states...

Any comments from people who attended the last session?

Maybe if I throw a stack of 50 on the table, they'll send me back to an office where I'll have to wait for her to come back and sign them for me in private after the regular session ends.

Yah Scruff, I don't think you should offer people the choice of getting it signed. I know I don't speak for everyone here, especially since i can't take you up on your offer, but I think there is an etiquette to stuff like this. In the 2007 vid people had like 2 or 3 things to sign. If I were you, I wouldn't want to put a bad image on AAm by making her sign 15copies while people are waiting in line...I dunno you just might want to rethink it...:o

Ok then, but I dunno just trying to help you out; but there will soon be a flock of AAm'ers and AF'ers to get a copy from you...so i would repeal the offer if I were you. It will just be havoc for you. Or you can just PM the few people you want to get copies for most and not answer the others haha

Well after my computer crashed and it took 2 reboots to get it working. I sent Roman an e-mail about how many is too many. He was there back in 2007, he might have an idea. Maybe I'll set a limit of 10 or 20 or what ever he recommends and it will be first come first serve. For the time being, I'll set a limit of 10 and it will be first come first serve to be fair. I think I'll edit my original post concerning this to reflect that.

Edit:

Too late to change the original offer. Too many quotes. I'll just stick with the 10s the limit for the time being. So far Edcognito and FALL06 are on the list. Just added MerciAlizee and Alex. C4 just notified me he would like a copy so there's 5 slots left.

TBQH - I would love if you did this. I would ALSO understand, WAY understand, if you didn't! Seriously, since you *are* going, I would say, concentrate on your moment...

BUT! If it gets to be too much of a pita while your trying to get stuff around to go, and be there, and see her, and get home... EVERYONE (including me:() would totally understand.

Yeah, you don't want to push your luck. My guess is 10 would be the high limit. I wouldn't doubt there are people who would try to get a bunch of CD's signed so they could turn around and sell them on ebay. The people running the autograph signing may be watching out for that. Ben or others that have been to these things may have a better feel for how much you can get away with by observing how things went last time.

<center><big><u>AMBASSADOR</u> SCRUFFYDOG, IF YOU PLEASE!</big></center>
Earlier today, on nobody's authority at all, I sent a note to the Virgin Megastore on the Champs-Élysées, reporting that 10% of the hits on Alizée's official Website now come from the USA, and that Alizée America is sending an "ambassador" to the autograph session at their store, to purchase multiple copies of her album for the Corsican girl to sign. I further inquired about a quantity limit and referred them to this thread in case they are dubious. Naturally, I will report on any reply I receive. Tie, tails and sash for you, Scruff? ;)

<center><big>IS IT LIVE, OR IS IT <s>MEMOREX</s> NAPSTER?</big></center>Yeah, you don't want to push your luck. My guess is 10 would be the high limit. I wouldn't doubt there are people who would try to get a bunch of CD's signed so they could turn around and sell them on ebay...

Damned if I know why either Virgin or Alizée would be against multi-level marketing of the type you suggest! <a href="http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showpost.php?p=152308&postcount=93">A sale is a sale.</a> Is the labor of signing so arduous that Alizée would object to keeping at it before her hand got tired?

BTW, it is not so hard now to replicate a signature and even make it appear to non-experts to be a pen-written original. I never have committed, nor will I commit fraud by misrepresenting things in commercial transactions, but in doing historical recreations for cities celebrating an anniversary, I have fabricated replicas of copyright-free historic documents and artworks which are now missing (or may even have never existed), for the purpose of honest fictional spectacle. (P.S. Alizée is not really Juliette.)

So you might imagine that I would be reluctant to pay a premium for an autographed good whose provenance I could not reliably authenticate, i.e. including stuff on eBay, too.

<center><big>YOU'RE IN GOOD HANDS WITH <s>ALLSTATE</s> ALIZÉE!</big></center>Thanks! I'm going to try and do a good job of it, but I'll be more nervous than a gold fish in a toilet bowl.

Don't worry at all!!!

About a year ago now, I published a <a href="http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/o/docdtv/Alizee/2009May.htm">fan page</a> in which I detailed a suggestion that Alizée make a revised version of the Joan Osborne <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbAeTywPiP4#t-1m22s">music video</a> for <i>Saint Teresa</i>.

A key scene consists of rescuing a goldfish from a toilet bowl and tossing it into a filled tub. If my dreams have come true, the Corsican girl has been practicing this for a whole year now, so you are quite safe!

Enjoy yourself Scruffy and keep it simple. You may never get a chance like this again, although I hope there are countless new album signings in the future. It is really nice of you to think of AA fans the way you do. You might even think of giving her a dvd of your favorite fan video that you have produced. You do a great job and I think she would get a kick out of it. She has probably seen some or all of them before, but receiving a copy from the video creator would mean something I would think. Just a thought.:)

That's a good point. Last time, I bought 5 and gave her a list of names I wanted them personalized to. I was thinking this time, where I'm buying 11, I was thinking maybe I would just give them to her and just have her write, what ever she wanted, such as Merci Alizée or like last time kisses from Alizée, but if I did that, they might think I'm trying to get them for E-Bay like you say. So I guess I will give her a list. I did hear from Ben, he thought 10 would be okay, anything more would be pushing it so that's the limit until I find out something more. Hopefully they'll be a little more understanding where I'm representing a forum.

Tie, tails and sash for you, Scruff? ;)

That was an awesome idea and thanks for thinking of it. You would think they would want to sell as many copies as possible, that's the main purpose of it. But maybe they think the people who don't come, would probably buy it anyways, so they limit the quantity here, so other fans wont have to wait in line so long. One thing they dont realize here is several of these people have pre-ordered the limited edition one and would not be buying another copy.

You might even think of giving her a dvd of your favorite fan video that you have produced. You do a great job and I think she would get a kick out of it. She has probably seen some or all of them before, but receiving a copy from the video creator would mean something I would think. Just a thought.:)

That's another interesting idea. I'm not sure about it though. There are a number of good fan videos out there. The only one that would really sets mine apart and is kind of a unique nature is the Alizée interview one. Kind of corny maybe, but it has a few funny points in which she might get a laugh out of it, but it does mention the cancelled concerts, something she might not want to be reminded of. I'll post it here so people here can see it. I had originally made it after the first cancelld concert, added to it after the second cancelled concert, then again added to it after she was being criticized a lot when we kept hearing rumors for an single release date back in September, but of course there wasn't one.

I'll post some of my other videos here so people who haven't seen it, can see it and offer an opinion.

So I the interview one is out but maybe,
A six pack of Alizée (2)
Alizée Moi Lolita From teenager to young woman 2
Alizée - A video history of her early years
Alizée - J'ai pas vingt ans / I'm not twenty - This is one where Roman told me about an audio file someone had created, where they combined J'ai pas vingt ans and I'm not twenty. I just added video to it. Combining the audio is the hard part. I tried to find out who created that file so I could give them credit in the video but never did.

Anothe one I made but which I don't think I should include is
Alizée Alex busted!

One thing we have to consider is Alizée has said she doesn't like watching herself if I'm not mistaken. I even had the thought, maybe her father would like a copy of the video history, he was at the last signing, but then again, she likes to keep her family from any type of contact with the public. He's just there to offer support at an important point in her career.

Umm, so, I think the last vid was funny as crap! You can't really blame the poor kid, he is stuck behind Alizee! Even Jessica looks bored, she has only her back to look at... Kinda sucks, if I was back behind her, I would be ecstatic to be near her at all, but less so than in front of her, because being near her and ot seeing her face would SUCK!!!!!!

5 pages in just one night(here and as well as in Paris), you guys are awesome:)

Scruffy, it's great that you are going to Paris. I believe that bringing a letter with you is a good idea. Nice cover will be great addition to the letter.

I have doubts about adding a video. Scruffy made a good point about this issue. Maybe she doesn't like watching her performances, especially the older ones, perhaps she wants to cut the past off and leave it behind her? Don't know, but I suppose that the letter ought to suffice.

By announcing you as an ambassador docdtv make a great thing. They noticed your presence as fans.
You are lucky Scruffy:)
May the Force be with you.

Well things aren't exactly panning out the way I would like them to. I'm having trouble finding a nice presentation folder for the open letter. I tried a couple of local shops and didn't have any luck. If I have to resort to something planer, here's some ideas for what I'd like the cover to look like. Remember I don't have a whole lot of time to work with and this is the best I can do on short notice. I have to run out and do some more looking now.

My favorite is #3...

It's funny but in my pursuit on the internet today for presentation folders, I somehow stumbled across a French American tv station in San Francisco. So I sent them a suggestion to do a special on Alizée and told them quite a bit about her. I'm sure nothing will come of it just like all the other e'mails I've sent out to other radio and tv stations. But it's worth a shot.

@Scruffy:
- I think the black background looks the most professional and serious, followed closely by the red background one

@Doc:
You've got it all wrong, Alizée would never stick her hands in a toilet! (as Gods don't go potty, you see). She makes Jérémy get on his pretty little knees and fish them out (pardon the pun).

yes she is very cute
but I have no way of getting hold of her.

it was a voice mail

I called her back and apparently she was on a speaker phone with a poor connection, plus apparently French is her native language and her English isn't that great so it was very difficult communicating with her. I told her I was going to the autograph session on the 29th and she wanted me to film Alizée, but I couldn't figure out if she wanted me to ask her specific questions or what. I guess I'll just send her footage from the autograph session when I get back.

Hey Scruffy that's a great news. I hope they take this thing seriously. America (and the whole World) needs to know about this angel:)

Edit:

I was just wondering how popular Lilly is in Canada. Since French is the second most popular language in Canada, she must have a strong fan base there, specially in Quebec.

On a different note, how bleak are the chances of a concert in Canada? That will be much easier for most of us to attend:)

Dude, that's pretty cool. I assume you can still email that lady. See, the thing is, San Francisco would probably love to have had Alizée, if only Alizée could have had the interest to go there. I mean, I don't know if Alizée could make up the cost of going, but... I'm sure they'd still love to have her if she could get a band together and do a show. That's the weirdest thing. It's apparently a really big deal to get a show with her regardless of where her popularity is.

I did a Google search for "French American TV San Francisco" and came up with this web site which must be it: http://www.french-american.tv/

The "Aline" who emailed Scruffy is evidently Aline Dinoia. This evening I'll tweet Her Grace with the information. No guarantee she'll see it of course.

I was just wondering how popular Lilly is in Canada. Since French is the second most popular language in Canada, she must have a strong fan base there, specially in Quebec.

Unfortunately, no. In my experience, about 99% of the music played in clubs and on the radio in Montreal is American top 40. What little French music I've heard has mostly been from French-Canadian artists like Celine Dion and Roch Voisine. Mylene gets played a little here and there--she was born here, so she counts as French Canadian as far as Canadian Content rules go--but in all the times I've visited my sister in Quebec over the past two years, I've only heard Alizée on the radio once, and it was Moi...Lolita. And I've had much better luck finding Lili's first two albums at stores in Toronto than I have in Montreal.

I also get the sense that the few Quebecois who do know of her don't think very highly of her--wearing my Alizée cap around downtown Montreal netted me a few dirty looks. I'll have to try it again with an AAm shirt this summer and see what kind of reaction I get.

On a different note, how bleak are the chances of a concert in Canada? That will be much easier for most of us to attend:)

Given her relative obscurity here, I'd say it's doubtful. :(

1. I second Jalen's first choice, the BLACK cover. But the text should be <i>en français s'il vous plaît</i>! "Open letter" is indeed descriptive, but it seems like an idiom all the same. Deep, does your Parisian pal know the French equivalent? Maybe something with cheese? <G>

2. Great work on the San Fran radio station. It would be strange if Aline did not know the #1 French female recording artist of 2001. (Was her name really [outer space] alien? <G>) She may be playing a bit coy to get you to make arrangements which would be lots of work for her and may prove impossible at that. As for physically visiting the Bay Area, who needs to do so? People have done telephone interviews on TV and radio for DECADES, and in the age of Skype <i>et alia</i> one can even get high quality sound and "body French" for free if the service feels like behaving itself. (I've had disappointments over the years.)

3. Thanks for the applause for the "ambassador" idea, guys. Scruff, I don't think it would be THAT weird if you DID put on a tux with tails and a sash. I don't think it would scare the Corsican girl - not even "a little bit." (I'll leave it at that, LOL!) Should French TV shoot there, they might even feature you in any short clip they produce and air. In any case, were I Alizée, I suspect I would not be so jaded yet that I would not react with some kindly amusement at the gesture. And as a visual mnemonic, it would also make it harder for her to forget the Open Letter which will get stashed in a bag with a bunch of other stuff.

If you <i>really</i> want to go over the top, though, you might ask Her Grace to have "her ministers" weigh giving Alizée America "diplomatic recognition." Mention that previously we would <i>not</i> have asked, but at long last the Web auditor Alexa <a href="http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showpost.php?p=154177&postcount=16">reports</a> a double-digit percentage of her official Web site traffic comes from the USA, exceeded only by that from France and Mexico.

The <i>Wikipedia</i> article on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protocol_(diplomacy)">diplomatic protocol</a> includes several links, including to <a href="http://www.ediplomat.com"><i>eDiplomat</i></a>, which features guidelines for attire.

Its a 4 hour drive from here to New York (more or less) and I would go there at any opportunity whether Lilly is there or not lol. I think you should take advantage of your relative proximity, there probably won't be another one of these till the next album release, which I assume will be in another 2-3 years

Well it was a long difficult morning after work, trying to find a presentation folder, decent enough for the task at hand. Didn't have much luck. Stopped at a store that dealt in leather goods along those lines, but it would of cost about $200.00 when you include the printing on the cover. In the end, I found one that will do if I can't find anything else tomorrow.

One thought that came to mind is Roman gave me a phrase in French to say to Alizée basicly saying we're with Alizée America, please look at the camera and say hello to the fans from the Alizée America forum. Well when you get to the end of the line waiting for your turn to see her, it's about 15 to 20 feet away from her. They tell you at that point, no more pictures. If they see me raising up a camera, the security people might have a problem with it. Now if everyone spoke English, the situation could be easily explained, but if Alizée doesn't quite understand what we're doing it couold be a problem. Hopefully she will understand and call of the dogs if they start barking.

Hmmm, it is going to be tough....

Here are some additional suggestions Scruffy :):

-Have the cameras ready, video and photo
-Take pictures until you reach the "security checkpoint" and if nothing is mentioned to you about the cameras keep on going, but if they stop you just carry the camera(s) accross your shoulder and move on.
-When fianlly being there infront of Her Grace, proceed with greetz (try to make it clear to her that you come from the US representing her fan base of AlizeeAmerica so she could be surprised), Open Letter/gifts, then ask her kindly if she could please do a big favor and say greetings to her fans of AlizeeAmerica(note: have the cam ready[ON] so it can be quick and practical) record the message and say whatever you need and wish to tell her, fianally the signing of the 11(ouch) albums. Cherish those last final moments and farewells and walk out happy:).

**If the above can't be done:

-Ask your friend who is going with you to be taking pics and vid if he can from his place in line.

Once again have fun Scruffy and THANKS for your support and kindness!

Celebrities greatly want to control their publicity to further their careers. I am not a lawyer, but I understand case law in the US even provides them <i>some</i> protection in this sphere.

Any law aside, I know Scruff really likes the Corsican girl and would never do anything to hurt her commercial interests. If her security people try to inhibit photographs of her at close quarters, it is probably a consequence of advice she has accepted to limit the number of <a href="http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/gallery2.php?g2_itemId=40214">candid detailed photos</a> taken of her. (On the very darkest side, raised hands can be useful precursors to "amateur" violence.)

The better image capture and display technology gets, the more anxious "doll-puss" celebrities are becoming, as recently <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/14/opinion/14dowd.html">explained</a>. Alizée may still not have to worry, but she is likely to follow industry practice. Of course, with enough light and better electronic stabilization, even a hand-held long shot becomes ever more like a closeup - save for the perspective issue, at least with conventional photography.

And if you've ever seen the snapshot of Alizée giving the finger to a shutterbug, you are certainly aware there have been times she was shot against her will, something people who like her as a person would not do, even if they could.

All that said, increasing numbers of people are practicing <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifelog"><i>life blogging</i></a>, which every day becomes ever easier for people of limited financial means and technical ability to do. This includes doing it in a way in which the parties and places which get recorded are not given notice, sometimes contrary to impotent law. The enormous strides in flash memory within the last decade have played no small part in this development. [Aside: Happily, some years back, we <i>at once totally eliminated</i> frequent assaults by minors in a local public library by giving notice we had deployed a camera whose signal was constantly recorded.)

In the "olden" days, when I developed real estate a couple decades ago, (circa the "Rodney King incident"), I would make open use of an 8mm camcorder when dealing with people. And even when I had enough imagery and lowered my camera, I would never reach to switch it off, that I recorded what I was being told. This served as a crutch for my good, but only-human memory, as well as a check on the consistency of what the same person or group would tell me at different times and in different places about the same stuff. This was not really in anticipation of litigation, as much as a simple matter of due diligence.

If today I worked as an investigator doing news reporting, insurance research, security or some related in-person scrutinizing, I would routinely lifeblog my days without notice, unless there was a good reason I could not do so. I would not have to raise a camera or a mike by hand to do so, right Edcognito? ;) All the gear now is really teeny, really cheap, and remarkably good. Most of what I recorded would prove of little use - but not all.

<table align="center" width="500" border="10" cellpadding="10"><tr><td><big><big><i>At one point Warhol carried a portable recorder with him wherever he went, taping everything everybody said and did. He referred to this device as his "wife". Some of these tapes were the basis for his literary work.</i> -<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Warhol">source</a></big></big>
</td></tr></table>

Alizée may today not be the superstar who routinely gets a clandestine "Mike Wallace" once-over at an autograph session, but that is not because it is impossible. In her place, while I might be anxious about it, I would not despise a fan who really admired me and got a recording of his/her precious few personal moments with The Idol, if it was <i>never</i> shared with anyone not there anyway.

Of course I cannot speak for Alizée or any other celebrity, or stand in the shoes of other fans. But it is possible to do a recording without notice and erase it if permission is denied after the fact. This is not 1985 any more.

I hope Alizée would consent to say hello to AAm at close quarters - or even long quarters! If one were denied the former, perhaps one might be granted the latter. It wouldn't be the first time Alizée smiled and waved to fans in person - although it would be the first to my memory that she shouted a "lip-synched" personal hello at a distance.

I wonder if there are any people with a camera implanted in their eye socket and a recorder in their chest cavity for the purpose of photographing a film on show at a US movie theater (for some years now a felony, without permission.)

P.S. Is this too obvious to mention? An mp3 player makes it easy to use a tiny tool to reliably deliver a perfected spoken message that was recorded at a different time and place, while the listener is head down and doing something like writing. (Locally, we have used a small necklace-hung $10 <i>Radio Shack</i> amped speaker to provide "self-guided tour" information with a player, which is audible to a large group of tourists.)

We have four (4) cameras (with decent 10+ megapixel resolution) for asset protection. None are larger than a pack of smokes, 3 are wireless (with a signal booster within 10 m/30 ft) that can take/record images good enough to read the label on a pack of smokes from 15', certainly good enough resolution for clandestine photography at a signing...

Person 1 carries camera attached to clothing, person 2 carries sig-booster in pocket, recording device located w/in 150'....

Yeah, its very possible....

Merci Alizée

Well good news and bad news on getting ready for Paris. I've still been unable to find something nice enough to present the open letter to Alizée to her in, but I'm still looking. I've gone to 4 malls, numerous printing, framing, photo shops, anything even remotely related to what I'm looking for. I've found a few things on line but just about every one of them has a minimum order of 50 or more. I did find a place on line where I can order individual diploma covers which I think will do the job well enough. I'm going to try two more stores tomorrow and if I come up empty, I will order a couple second day air, first thing monday morning.

The good news is the wind breaker type shirt I ordered came out very good in my opinion. I was real worried about what it would look like. I said I wanted the Alizée America part to look like what we have at the top of the page in the forum and he made it look exactly like it. I kind of wished I had asked him to bridge that little gap between the i and the c but it's no biggy
.
One bad point about the hat is the front part where the Alizée America is has no stiffness to it. That's something I think it would look better with, but I tried backing it up with a piece of cardboard and I think that'll work fine as long as Lilly doesn't ask me to take my hat off.

He had asked me up front how much I'd be willing to pay for these. I told him around $100.00 would be okay. Well my jaw hit the floor when he said over the phone that it came out to be $150.00 because he had to special order something for it, but once I saw it, I thought it was well worth it.

As far as clandestine filming of Alizée, I know we all would love to have as many pictures of her as we could possibly get, all with good intentions, not trying to capture her at an awkward moment, but just to see more of her beauty, but I wouldn't want to tarnish the reputation of the members of this this forum, me especially nor do I want her to associate the word America with an act like that, so any pictures or video I get will only be with her permission.

Excellent Scruffy ! Everything looks great. And I think you are right as far as not doing any clandestine filming of Alizée. It's the respectful thing to do. It's obvious you want her experiences with American fans to be good ones and I commend you for it. Enjoy your trip and say Hi to Alizée from all of us!

Hey Scruffy, you are doing great man :). I really liked the hat and the shirt. You will be a great ambassador for the forum. I am also with you on not taking her pictures without her permission.

I also feel that you should not worry about the presentation folders too much. Lilly is known to respect and understand her fans. I am sure she will appreciate our feelings for her and that is the most important thing.
Best of luck and enjoy each and every moment with Lilly:):):)

Hey Scruff I like the clothes you'll be wearing! And no offense, but if you are bald then keep the hat on. But if you are not bald, then you might want to show respect by taking the hat off when you get up to her, she would probably like the manners:) just a suggestion;)

Luckily I still have a full head of hair although way to many grey. My profile picture was taken by one of AF members when we met up after one of the cancelled concerts back in 2008 in Paris, but that's a good idea though. Luckily my co-worker who will be with me is much several years my junior. I wish we had a couple of younger members with us but I guess we'll just have to make the best of it.

Her father may be there taking photos (he was at the last one) and you could hardly be any grayer than he is. But it looks really good on him; he's a very handsome man. My advice: you'll hardly pass for a teenager; don't sweat it.

Alizée will know that at least some of her fans in the U.S. like her for her music and style and not just her (ahem) twins. To have a fan base of grownups is not a bad thing.

Yah that's what I'm thinking, cause if we sent people from 20-30 years of age that would be the "Oh hey! thanks! bye!"*watches for them to check her out*-Alizee kinda thing. Yah Scruff going will be another person towards the "Yay! I appeal to the adult audience!" category...

If anyone wants one, He said now that he has the right die or whatever, it would cost $65 for a breaker like that and $18 for the hat. I mentioned one thing I didn't like about the hat is the front part of it is soft with no backing. He might be able to put it on another type of hat though.

But that would have to wait until I got back. Too much going on now.

Hello, Alizée America. I am a new member here, this is my first post! I have been reading the forums around here for months, but have never gotten around to joining. Now that I have, I did not know where to post my introduction, but since this is the thread that persuaded me to join, here I am. I am Hungarian, a dedicated Alizee fan, currently live in Budapest, Hungary, and I am learning French. Some of you may remember me from my participation in the Ventrilo conference on the Tumblr photo session.
It hit me as quite a surprise that Alizée will be giving an autograph session on the 29th, since I will be in Paris with my family on that day. Since I am only 14 and I do not know anyone who would want to go with me, I decided to get an account here, especially after seeing Scruffydog's post saying it would be nice to have a few younger members with him. I would be very glad to tag along.
I am very happy to be here at last, and I am looking forward to many interesting and entertaining discussions here. Merci pour votre attention, à tout à l'heure!

I am a native, well-educated American. Your English is so PERFECT that I would have assumed you are an American, too. But once you reported you were age 14, I would have become suspicious. Sadly, few young Americans spell as well as you do when using a computer!

Aside: While I don't speak Magyar (this year <i>Google Translate</i> became a useful crutch for understanding it), I belong to a Hungarian culture group in my US federal state because of a Hungarian-American community which thrived in my rustic county for a generation a century ago. A few years ago, a reporter from <i>Népszabadság</i> wrote our county historical society when he learned we hosted a "ghost-town" named Budapest. But if he ever wrote an article about us, he never thought to send us a copy. Below is a photo from the town cemetery, which we cleaned up the other year.

If I'm not mistaken, all of the photos in the gallery from that session were shot by him. Just a quick plug: he's an INCREDIBLE photographer. An artist, not just a technician. Although I have a suspicion he may be going through a midlife crisis, because all of his photos these days seem to be of gorgeous women. ;) (To most of whom I don't think he's related. Although he does have a series called "My Wife," which shows not only his talent but where Alizée gets her beauty.)

He was not and I'm sure he won't be at this one, either.

Before I get to the good news, bad news, I'd like to say welcome to Aron14 to the forum say that it would be great if he could join me at the autograph session, of which I have a little bad news below. I'll pm Aron with some details of when we might hook up.

First the good news. I finally came up with something that will look good in presenting the open letter to Alizée. Not exactly what I wanted but it's decent.
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/2373/dscf1029j.jpg (http://img707.imageshack.us/i/dscf1029j.jpg/)

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/1448/dscf1030k.jpg (http://img405.imageshack.us/i/dscf1030k.jpg/)

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/7971/dscf1031q.jpg (http://img683.imageshack.us/i/dscf1031q.jpg/)

Now for the revolting development. I told everyone that a co-worker was going with me. I said he was a member of this forum. Well it turns out he wasn't but that doesn't really matter. He often comes here to read the news and threads and said he was going to join this week, end of problem. But earlier today he e-mailed me saying he wasn't going, citing reasons of the fact that he just got hired part time to do the census and the fact that he was concerned about money. I never heard such a bunch of b.s. in my life.

This guy is a huge history buff. He has a collection of metal die cast B17s. He just bought a B17 clock. He recently special ordered a bombers jacket, like the ones they wore during WW2, which probably cost at least $400.00. Well I had made plans for us to spend the day after the autograph session at the d-day beaches at Normandy. What could be better for someone who enjoys that era of history than going to Normandy not to mention being in Paris which is flooded with history. Unbelievable. I had even arranged to give up a days pay so we could go to Normandy. I've been there before. I'd enjoy going back, but I was doing this more for his sake.

Of course the worse part of this is him not being at the autograph session. Not going to make a great impression on Alizée just having one fan there, especially an older one at that, but I'm still going to go through with it. I'm going to have about a dozen discs for her to sign. I had hoped to give him about 4 so it wouldn't seem like so many, but now I guess I'll just throw myself at the mercy of her loveliness. My ex-wife used to tell me I have kind of an inimidating look to me and the last thing I wanted was for Alizée feel intimidated. He's looks the type that's easy to get along with so that'll be a big loss.

It's going to make it much tougher take pictures while I'm up there too. . I was also hoping to get her permission to take a few up close and it would have been great to have a still camera as well as a camcorder going at the same time.

I should have known better. He had planned on going to the 2 concerts in Paris with me. When the concerts were cancelled, I still went but he didn't. I stopped at my brother's place yesterday to borrow his camcorder and his wife laughed when I told her I was going with the same guy who cancelled out twice before. Live and learn I guess. I wont tell you his name, but his first initial is Vinny.

First the good news. I finally came up with something that will look good in presenting the open letter to Alizée. Not exactly what I wanted but it's decent.

Scruffy, I just want you to know that you are an international hero to the thousands of North American fans. Thank you so much for your time with this project of yours, and I pray everything goes according to plan.

Don't worry too much about your partner. You are still going to meet Alizee, and you will be forever entrenched in the memories of the Alizee fans that come to this website everyday for your deed.

Though, if you can find somebody to use the camcorder, and whether you decide to use it or not, I think somebody should get a shot of you giving this letter to Alizee, just so the people who have supported you since the beginning can feel a sense of closure in this project, and the confidence they have had in it since day one.

Once again, thank you, and god bless!

I agree with IncliningPizza, you are a Hero in this site and for many US/Canadian/Int. Fans. Don't worry about your partner, I'm sure you will find an alternative or maybe not but you will still have a great unforgettable trip :). This project has had several phases and finally it will reach its purpose. Have an awesome, safe, and enjoyable trip Scruffy!

I've been so busy in the past week, I had hardly any time to watch any of Alizée's videos. I still have a ton of stuff to do especially with my co-worker cancelling out. I have to change my flight listing because I wont be staying the extra day. I'll be trying to find a hotel closer to the record store. But I took the time to watch some of her videos tonight and even though I've been listening to her music day after day after day for the past three years, I still find myself, muttering to myself over and over again, when I'm watching her perform, "unbelievably beautiful".

Damn, Scruffydog-- That glossy-cover folder thing is just so beautiful ! And the story about your co-worker whose first initial is Vinny - you've brought a tear to my eye. Twice!

Scruff, if there was any way for me to disappear for a week, I'd gladly change my name to "Vinny" and go there with you. But as it is, you are our designated envoy. You shall be our messenger, the bearer of our hopes, our dreams, and all our signatures! That means we'll all be there with you, at least a little bit. You have to know we're all behind you, and, despite pangs of intense jealousy, I'm pretty sure every last one of us (from whatever nation), we all hope you have the time of your life.

Aron14, it looks like you could do a great service for Alizée America by helping our Official Ambassador, Scruffydog! Join his entourage, help him get his music disks signed, and finally assist with the photographic opportunities permitted us! (Perhaps you could rendezvous at a hotel at which one of you is staying.)

As you may have read, we would be only too delighted to shoot some video of Alizée saying hello to us. Depending on the month, the AAm Website sometimes get more traffic from within the USA, and sometimes more from outside it. Therefore, you and Scruffy make a great team to represent us.

Alizée has done so much publicity during the majority of the last decade that I would be VERY surprised if she would greet ANY face or body with an aversive reaction, especially when she was being given an honest smile. Please remember that it is a point of professional pride for ANY entertainer who is not from something like the Amy Winehouse or Lilly Allen "school" to be anything other than welcoming to a well-mannered fan. And if the public image means anything, I am certain that Jo and Michelle raised BOTH their children to treat all decent people with RESPECT, whether or not they were celebrities. So even someone who is oversized or asymmetrical or maybe just scruffy should relax a LOT more! Really.

@Jalen It would be "Ça va, Papa Jo?" The phrase "Comment t'allez-vous?" is for French class only these days, as best I know. Am I wrong, fellas?

@Deepwaters I also noticed all the fabulous young babes at Jo's Web site. I remarked to myself that he must have an emotionally mature and confident wife. BTW, I know more than one sagacious wife who uses erotica to arouse her husband so she can enjoy the results of such inspiration herself. If you want someone to sneeze, it helps to give them snuff.

Oh, the Virgin store never e-mailed me back concerning an autograph quota. Perhaps they did not think I was serious about someene from the US traveling to their establishment.

Just to let people know, I've changed my travel plans. I'm only going to stay the 2 days in Paris. I wont be going to Normandy since my co-worker cancelled out. I had received and e-mail from someone saying they were trying to make arrangements to go over and wanted to go with me to the D-day beaches, but as it turns out, it looks like he wont be able to make it. So I just wanted to let people now in case any one else had similar thoughts. I gave up a day of work to go to Normandy and was lucky to be able to undo that so it will be just 2 days in Paris. I do hope to go back there some day, maybe after an Alizée concert!

I would be delighted to undertake the job of doing the filming and assisting in any way possible, if only to make up for Vinny's desertion. I hardly feel worthy for all this when put next to Scruffydog (after everything he has put into the project) and in the presence of much more dedicated fans then myself. However, I will do my best to assist Scruffy in all ways. It's true, Scruffydog and I will make an interesting duo, but it's good that Alizée will be reassured once again that she has fans from all across the world and from all age groups.
Unfortunately, I have no Alizée clothing of my own, and not much experience with handling a camera. I will do my best though, and I hope Alizée will overlook the fact that I have no apparel to assert my unwavering support and "fanhood" (if such a word exists) of her.
I truly hope I will be able to help.

Also, it is new to me that "comment allez-vous" is no longer used. In Hungary, we have not dropped any formalities for the last 100 years, and we still address people with as much formalness as our language allows. It is interesting to observe the differences in the spoken and taught versions of languages.

@ Deepwaters - For a vicarious visit to Corsica, use Google maps street view, http://maps.google.com/ .

Familiar with it. That's how I managed to generate this passage:

"Dolphin's house is on a little byway that runs up a steep hill off the Rue de Cacalovo. As we made our way down this street, several neighbors called out greetings and waved. Dolphin waved back to them and smiled. Of course, she also drew other kinds of attention; as we passed some workmen doing road repair, one of them yelled something in Corsu, which I didn't understand, but the intent was clear enough. Dolphin ignored him. I glared at him, playing the protective lover, and he laughed but shut up.

"We turned onto the Rue de Cacolovo, walked down to where the Cours Lucien Bonaparte becomes Albert the First Boulevard, and crossed this street to reach the beach. It was a bit chilly for swimming, but that didn't stop us; we stripped to swim wear and she held out a string bag for me to put my clothes into."

I used Google maps as a research aid for Ajaccio, Paris, New York, Dublin, San Francisco, and Mexico City, because parts of the story take place in all of those cities.

As far as vicarious experience of Corsica, though, I actually like Jo Jacotey's photos better than anything else I've found. That's as true for his photos of gorgeous Corsican landscape, buildings, and fishing boats as for the more recent ones of gorgeous Corsican girls. ;)

So, like, most of us should have a chance to see pictures or videos if you post them afterwards, scruffy. I can't wait to see what she looks like now! I LOVED her ponytail in the new MV, but to hear her voice saying a message for us? Awesome! But what does this letter say? So, with the new info, what's the chances we will get a video recording? Having a disc signed by her will already make me faint, but to actually WATCH it happen? AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Coma! Hear her say my name to me, like, 'Ce disque est pour "Alex"! Je t'aime!', and then see her hold it up to the camera? *thud, hits the floor, stone cold dead

omfg that would be.... amazing!!! yes if possible that would be amazing! my heart might actually stop!:wub:

I'm shaking in my boots here. I just got word from Ben that Alizee will meet with me in private, a half hour before the autograph session begins to sign all the cd's I have. I am totally overwhelmed at this point. I can hardly type. If anyone wants an autographed copy of her cd, please let me know here. Just give a one word answer of how you want your name signed. We will have to settle up money wise, after I get back.
Holy sh***! What can I say but, no way! Alizée rocks!

What the hell, she's dragging me in. Might as well get me one.
Way to go Scruffmeistr. Wish she could have met with us when we went for the concert, but you deserve it after what you've been trying to do here and even after everything.

I'd be glad to have you with me. I'm not sure what time I will get there now, probably around 4:30.

WOW.
I now humbly request, with the utmost humility, that I may be with you, Scruffydog, while you are in the presence of this most revered character, an experience you truly deserve after many years of being a devoted fan and after all the time and energy you put into everything relating to her. The same cannot be said of me, it is simply my enormous luck that allowed me to be in the right place at the right time, but I hope I may still be by your side, and as always, hope to help in any way possible.

I offer my most sincere congratulations to Scruffydog for unquestionably deserving this rare opportunity. Though I know I am not worthy of the same, it is my instinct as an Alizée fan to request that I may also share in this unbelievable experience.

Amazing! They just responded to your email and voilà?

Well, I did several things.

1. I gave the Virgin store an INCENTIVE (many more sales) to be interested.
2. I gave Jive Epic/Sony Music an INCENTIVE to cooperate by documenting the NEW importance (10% Web hits) of the potentially HUGE American market.
3. I was COURTEOUS by writing in the best French I could manage.
4. I wrote EARLY enough for them to act. (Although my reply monitoring...)
5. I documented our SINCERITY by pointing at the germane discussion thread.
6. I made a SPECIFIC request, viz. What is the quota on disk signing?
7. I SPUN the PR-angle by saying we're sending an Ambassador, not a 'dog. ;)

And I would lose little if they ignored my note.

Well I've pretty much finalized my list. I don't really have time to post it here but I've contacted the majority of the people that were chosen. I tried not to exclude members from foreign countries who have been very devoted fans of Alizee and have posted here many times. I've locked horns with some members here in the past and I will probably lock horns with them in the future but I let that in no way influence my decision to include them. The thing that matters is that they are devoted fans of Alizée. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please contact Ben who I will stay in contact with and if there's room to squeeze one or two more people in, I will try. I've tried to do my best in the short amount of time I've had. I will probably miss some people who should be included and for that I apologize, but time has been so limited, I really dont know any other way I could have handled it.

Wow !! This is awesome !!! I can hardly believe I'm reading this, although I knew this day would come. This might sound a bit contradictory, but because she is so private and hardly communicates is exactly the reason why it makes this so much sweeter and enjoyable !! Almost as if it was meant to be this way ;-)

A big thanks goes to Docdtv who's contribution is well noted ;-) To Scruffydog who's our new ambassador of quand. To Chuck who came out with the letter idea in the first place, and to everyone who contributed to this letter despite all the negative comments surounding this letter and it's intended purpose ;-)

As to who's to get a signed cd copy, I agree with Scruffydog: Be selective of those that are more deserving, those who show respect and admiration, and are truly supporting her. Also I don't mean to add anymore pressure then you already have, but don't screw this up you're representing the entire country as far as I know. ;)

Alizée; here's to the purity of your sensuality; to the essence of your grace; to the enchantment of your contagious joy; it’s what makes you an unforgettable woman; embrace your beauty and be whole !! My love and respect always ♥

It was extremely thoughtful on your part and I'm sure everyone will be understanding, considering the complexity and difficulty of what you're trying to do in a very short time frame. However this turns out, you are to be commended. Enjoy whatever this experience affords you. You are making AAm history!

As a fan of Alizée since early 2006, but only a latecomer to AAm, my earlier inquiry about the Open Letter did not bring forth any report of its father. Now that I know at last, let me thank Chuck for showing the imagination and initiative to make it happen. If it did not already exist, we would not now have had enough time to bring the pieces together for presentation to Alizée when given this happy unexpected extended audience with her!

We all celebrate the booming success of <i>Les Collines</i> on YouTube, and hope that it is the portent of great things to come for the Corsican girl, including north of the Rio Grande.

I wonder what the people waiting in line are going to think if they learn about the AA private session. Again I really don't think the average fan in France has any idea how popular Alizée is outside of the country or Europe in general.

I think most French fans know of our existence, but they think our numbers are small enough to not be a significant force in the world of Alizée. The French general public, on the other hand barely seems to remember Alizée, much less know about us. The Mexican Miracle was a big thing, so I think it got a lot more notice in France. Lets hope UEDS will attract the attention of the French general public again, and let's hope that we at AAm can find a way to play a bigger role too.

+Great job docdtv.:) Not to diminish your efforts, creativity or salemanship, but I think your accomplishment is evidence that Alizee is becoming open to at least considering the possibility of taking a plunge in the US market.

Well, I don't think it's necessarily an indication of that--personally, I think Alizée and/or her label are still ambivalent to the idea, or UEdS would be readily available on iTunes here.

To me, though, that makes it even more impressive, because it's not strictly a business or marketing decision. I'm taking it more as a heartfelt acknowledgment that they know we're here, and that our support is appreciated, even though we're not as integral to the overall marketing of the album as, say, France or Mexico.

Doc and Scruffy are obviously our champions, here, but as a group overall, I think we've made quite the impression this time around, using tools like Twitter to make our voice heard by the powers that be. There may not be many of us, comparatively, but we've been vocal, passionate and supportive throughout the pre-release, and I think they've noticed. And I think that's a big part of the reason why Doc's request was met with such an overwhelmingly positive response.

So kudos to everybody here. Not to take away from the magic that Doc worked to make it happen, but I genuinely think we all own a piece of this little miracle, here. :D
