Aaronius, do you not have a French dictionary, or other French source? You could get a pretty cheap one from Barnes & Noble. Like, $15 for a pocket one like I use. Mine is as old as me, to the year, but it still works! When I first saw J'en Ai Marre !, and looked up 'marre', I found 'marrant' ( English funny; odd). Under marrant, it listed 'en avoir marrant' (the infinitive of en ai marre) as 'be fed up', so it let me translate that idiom. It also lists common phrases like 'thank you' (merci, duh!), 'you're welcome' (de rien), typical stuff. They are useful, but not foolproof; mine lacks a conjugation table for 'faire' (infinitive of 'do') because it is irregular. It lists quite a few irregular verbs in the back, with all their forms, but doesn't say which form means what. But it has conjugation tables for 'avoir' (infinitive of have) and 'etre' (infinitive of be), as well as ones for each conjugation 1-4. But you must know how to use these, I do because I learned in 9th grade latin. I carry it around like it were my wallet! I love it! :D

Hilda for Juani who I think may not be a member of the forum.
Deepwaters.

I believe I've spoken with deepwaters but I've had so many pm's and e-mails that I cant remember. I think he had to pay in a specific time period. I hope he re-pm's me with the details.

WyomingGrizfan I mistakenly told I didn't have a disk for him because I didn't have a requested name next to his forum name, but then later found out his was one of the discs I couldn't identify, so I have to get back in touch with him.

I know I've talked to Beaner before. If he could just remind me of his status, I'd appreciate it.

Anyone who doesn't contact me, I will contact later next week. I may be out of town for a couple of days.

I shipped out MerciAlizee's disc and gave fsquared his today in person.

One thing I need to get is the name of the gentleman who was at our private signing who was with Instatubes. I have to try and get this man's e-mail address so I can send him a nice thank you note. When we were discussing the open letter to Alizee, he seemed a little offended that we were representing this letter again. He knew of the letter and said it had been presented to her before. I said something to the effect that some of us weren't really sure whether she had seen it or not.

What I'd like to say to him is that there are other forums out there, we wanted her to realize that the forum members who had visited her that day, were from the forum that wrote that letter. I'd also like to point out that a lot of time and careful thought was put into it by fans who are deeply devoted to her and to see her hold that letter in her very hands meant more than words can describe to us.

I'd also like to thank him for this great opportunity not only for me, but for so many of her fans in America and other countries that we represent. I'd like to tell him how hard we've worked in the past to try and promote her music, but the main thing that we've been missing is some type of appearence by her in the states. It doesn't necessarily need to be a singing performance, it could be something like an interview on Leno, where they show snippets of her performances. Just get her recognized here, then we'll do the rest.

I sent a nice letter of thank you to the Virgin megastore manager. I believe he spoke english from the letter that was sent to me, but maybe I was mistaken. I'll have to contact Docdtv and see in his correspondence with him, if he thought he spoke English. If not, I'll have to get someone like Doc or maybe Roman to re-interpret my letter and re-send it.

Once again I'd like to thank Doc and Ben for all they've done. If Ben hadn't kept this forum going when he did, this never would have been possible. And Doc, if he had never contacted Virgin, we never would have been able to see her hold that letter in her hands, never would have seen her say hello to Alizée America, never would had the happiness brought to so many fans here of having something that Alizée held in her own precious hands and autographed.

It was a great moment for this forum. I'm glad for what got accomplished, but wished I could have done so much more. Wished I could have spoken in French to her of so many things, because I think it was kind of obvious, her English conversational skills are somewhat lacking.

So I want to make sure the two gentlemen in France, know how much this meant to us, know how thankful we are, so if this opportunity comes again, they will welcome back her fans from America.

What else could you have done, short of gotten confirmation that she would come here? You did far more than you needed to already, I don't know if we could deal with much more! We need something similar to the Congressional Medal of Honor, for going above and beyond the call of duty in regards to Alizée. You perfomed magnificiently, Dave, and nobody here in their right minds would ask any more of you!

Hey at least you have some more time to build up excitement!!! The way I got mine was:

The mailman (I thought) had skipped my street since he turned away. I was waiting for 15minutes then I saw a FedEx truck go to the house next to me and thought maybe that could be it since the box was CD-sized. But I don't go over and ask. So then I go to look in my Newspaper section of my mailbox for my phone that I put in there then check my real mailbox and there it was....my CD had been in there the whole time:rolleyes:I felt so stupid.

I didn't have to sign mine. Mine had a green sticker on it that said "Receipt Confirmed" or something. I think Signature confirmation meant that the one who delivered it just had to slap on a sticker onto the box saying it was received by the recipient...but anyway I don't know why I care....

If you're talking about the black guy with the big hair, yeah, that was the principal lyricist and co-founder of Institubes, Jean-René Étienne.

Don't forget about the talk that Mark Black had with him already and again I'd warn against over-promising things to Alizée or her team. I know it's easy to get carried away, but if you say to Etienne or Alizée "Just get her recognized here, then we'll do the rest," that's a rather bold statement. You better be sure of who "we" are before saying stuff like that. You've been around long enough to see what the members of Alizée America are actually willing to do.

I don't think there's any particular reason other than cost and time that she shouldn't come here to somewhere in the US to perform, but just don't lose your head. Signing a bunch of CDs that you bought for her signing event is one thing, getting Alizée to leave country for a performance is another. And lest you should think 50 people on an American web site is a big deal don't forget that there was on the order of 10,000 people in concert in Mexico. I know you have to start somewhere, but have a little perspective before you expect something from her.

Hey, who am I to tell anyone what to do or to expect? No one except someone who has hung around here a lot since the beginning of 2007. And yeah, I do agree that if Alizée had come to America or shown some kind of interest in promoting herself here, she'd have several times as many fans here as she does now, but that's just a guess.

As for Leno, better hurry up while he still has a job.

I'll PM this to Scruffy.

Interesting stuff there Roman and Scruff. We definitely shouldn't over-expect from her. She has done more than we thought she would do originally and maybe we should show our gratefulness by laying back for a little bit. We have worked up until that moment Scruff had and we should rest and come back strong to get more from her, like a concert. But hey nothing is changed until the hype of this album is over. So we have time to influence her for a concert here in September. I mean hey the US and Mexico border right?! So hey go for it guys, and I would be glad to help. All I'm saying is let's rest for a bit so we don't seem like pests to her;)

I put this on here hours ago, but now that we've got the guy I.D.'d, here's his address again, to make it easier for Scruff to find. (I mean, this is the address I mailed the earlier copy of the letter to, and he was saying they'd definitely gotten that...)

You're posting the links, not the [IMG] codes

CFHollister
04-10-2010, 04:26 PM
Yeah, to post the image you first need to save the source code for the image itself by right-clicking the image and: in Firefox, clicking "Copy Image Location"; in IE (it's been a while) I think you view properties and the code is in that (?). Then when you post you use the Insert Image button (little mountains and "sun" with yellow sky below Undo), a pop-up will appear and paste in the image source code you copied. ;)

Bonjour,

Little did I ever dream that an old war horse like me would live to come to this. Alizée has declared to me 1000 kisses in French (I can't bring myself to call them French kisses) and now is singing that she "never wanna leave" me! Can you believe it? My God, woman! Pull yourself together and go home to your husband and child - I'm just not worth it. I think the only way I shall be able to restore my composure after this is to repeatedly remind myself that it is actually lyricist Jean-René Etienne who is telling yours truly "Never wanna leave you," courtesy his lovely and talented delivery chanteuse. You silly goose, Jean-René - I bet you say the same thing to ALL the boys! ;)

Yes, my autographed <i>UEdS</i> CD has arrived! Thank you SO MUCH, Scruffy!

I will observe that great care was taken to protect the goods with bubble wrap against the outrages of a cruel and unpredictable world. Maybe Scruffy's airline might create an ad based on a photo of the unwrapped contents of this package. The caption would read: "Our maintenance and repair people are this diligent when sending out a lousy CD for free. Can you imagine the pains they take when they are paid to keep your precious ass safe and secure at 40,000 feet?" ;)

It is nice to have my name appear with all the lovely sentiments Alizée herself penned by hand on my precious, precious souvenir. But I also would have been extremely grateful simply to have her signature. What a sweet woman she is to do so much to go beyond this on my CD! So if I had not been lucky enough to make the list of the Fortunate Fifty, I would now be asking Scruffy if he might sell me an unclaimed copy dedicated to someone else here who was FOOLISH enough not to pay up in a TIMELY way. Maybe you feel that way, too.

By the way, being a part-time Mad Scientist, I will now carefully dust my meticulously handled package contents for skin and other cells, in the hopes of extracting some DNAlizée for the evil purpose of cloning. I only wish my Potemkin Village Ajaccio project showed more promise. Curses!

- One of the Fortunate Fifty

P.S. Have you told someome outside of AAm to visit AlizeeRadio.com yet?

And I said "You will get your chance eventually" in the sense that yes, there will be many more opprutunities for people to get her autograph. This isn't a once in a lifetime thing since many people here have gotten her autograph several times...

But anyway I will tone down this stuff(Not that I have reason to post it).

Uh -- you just did. :p

Alas, this vice is an enduring artifact of trauma in bygone years. (You didn't think my misunderstanding with Antoinette was my only unhappy memory, did you?)

People can use language much more freely now than when I was a lad in elementary school. One day my teacher, Miss Crabtree (she would later teach the kids of <i>The Little Rascals</i> / <i>Our Gang</i> as well), came into our one-room school to be shocked by an otherwise well-washed blackboard which was decorated with a copy of the rudest synonym for copulation in the English language.

She was not stupid and so went on to figure out I was the culprit, and awarded me a punishment typical of that era: I was to stay after class that day and cover the blackboard with as many copies as it took of a sentence which expressed contrition for what I had done.

I did as I was told and the next morning Miss Crabtree exhibited my laborious work as a caution to each and every student of my class, who beheld a blackboard filled with over 170 copies of a sentence reading:<blockquote><i>I will never again write FUCK on the blackboard!</i></blockquote>If I upset you by telling a story this old, I will aggravate the situation by reminding you of one even older. This being the Easter season, behold an excerpt from a film about your namesake, <i>Life of Brian</i>.

Yeah, I agree with scruff, it looks like coeur. Definitely coeur, though for the life of me, I can't figure out the third word. It looks like there might be some l's there, which would suggest mille, but 'thousand heart'? Maybe it makes sense in French. Also, there seemed to be no dots for i's. Yours was definitely a late copy, judging from the greatly varying thickness in lines (meaning she was putting varying amounts of pressure on the pen, a sign of exhaustion) and the shortness of it. She was probably doing this one near the end, and was running out of time. Also, scruff, if you would, could you please post a picture of mine? I would like to see it and try to analyze it. Nobody else try to tranlate/analyze mine, please. I can do it.:) Also, maybe if my mom sees it and knows it is real, she will lend me the $8.50 I need.

Almost looks like that fourth word is coeur which means heart. I don't have a clue as to the third word though.

After looking at it a little more I do think the fourth word is coeur. The third resembles other peoples "mille" so the third could be mille.

I think the third and fourth words may be "mille coeurs" ? So maybe I got a thousand hearts  May not make a ton of sense to some but I'll take a thousand Lilly hearts any day :D So while everyone else got her kisses, I got her heart(s) lol.

Dude, bro. You can make $8.50 on the streets easily. See who will pay you for doing crazy stuff. Eat bugs or worms for money. Let people slap you in the face. SOMETHING! If you can think of something else that you'd be willing to do then GO DO IT! You have got to get that money and mail it!!! Now go soldier, and do your part by getting that cash to Scruffy! Aaronius, my I key is not very sensitive. And if you press space twice, it puts a period at the end of your last word. So if I mean to say I did such and such, but don't press I hard enough, it just register as two prsses of space. Also, I think that would actually get quite a few views, if people actually did hit me. Seems like the kind of senseless stupidity that easily gets one million views+ on youtube. And what a great way for us to raise Alizée awareness! Title: Me getting punched to pay for UEdS! People would watch!

I received my autographed copy today at the same time as my regular copy from amazon.fr. I'm gonna have to have my french friend take a look at it to help me translate it. I think it says "Mille Coeurs" but it looks more like it starts with "Ce..." and I don't see a recognizable "r." I think I might just need someone who's used to seeing french in cursive to give me a hand.

The jewel case had a hairline vertical crack (hardly noticable), about an inch long, in the top right corner on the front. I think it must have happened sometime prior to being shipped since the one from Sruffydog was much, much better packaged than the one from Amazon which had no visible damage. Pas de probleme; I simply transferred the autographed book and the disc that came with it to the pristine jewel case from Amazon, et voila!

Thanks a googolplex to to Scruffydog and all the people who made this opportunity possible. :)

Really there's nothing unique about the jewel cases. Just buy another copy and swap like I did. I bought another copy because I wanted to be able to keep one on a safe place and in pristine condition and have another to actually take places and be used. That way you can have you (Alizée) cake and eat it too ;)

It's ok, cf. I just wanted another chance to be able to examine her handwriting. Who wouldn't? But I could always give a second opinion, if you want it. I a lot of people complain because I use cursive. They either didn't learn it in school, or just stopped after elementary. But I like it because it looks better and is also faster. ;)

I had mentioned in the previous thread that there were many cd cases with small scratches and possibly cracks in them. I had carried them home in a canvas type shopping bag. It was originally supposed to be 50 cd's, but the list grew to 56 and I decided at the last minute to make it 60, so I'd have a few extra in case something happened and a few things did happen, so it worked out well. Bottom line is 50 became 60, kind of ironic. But 60 cd's in a shopping bag, being transported by hand for about 3,500 miles, I was very worried there might be more damage, but so far, such has not been the case.

Like I mentioned, they are just a generic case, identical to so many you see in stores. The truly important part is Alizée handled the inserts, not the case.

P.S. I shipped out the ones I mentioned yesterday.

I'm waithing on word from Tchaikovsky to decide from a picture of which of two cd's looks like his name on it. His was one of a couple that looked to have been signed twice.

The blue bubble wrap I got from the post office.$3 for so many feet. I found some better stuff at Staples though. It has a very slight amount of adhesiveness to it so it sticks to itself which made things easier.

Speaking of Fairy Dust, when you go to <a href="http://alizeeradio.com/">AlizeeRadio.com</a>, you learn that this radio station is called "Limelight by Alizée." At the posting <a href="http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showpost.php?p=151721&postcount=181"><i>Standing by Tinkerbell</i></a> I argued that <i>Limelight</i> was not merely the name of an <i>UEdS</i> song, but a symbol for someone's favorite <i>fée</i>.

I think someone wrote that an iPhone app for the station is forthcoming soon.

As for other cellphones, if the page is now too large to display on a phone screen, one can try tying each end of the phone to a different tractor and stepping on their accelerators. Caution: We are not responsible if your phone breaks, right guys? ;)

Again, rather than here, please discuss AlizeeRadio.com in the thread at:
http://alizeeamerica.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5557

Could you please be more specific what you mean by "fraudelent"? Perhaps you could exactly quote an error message?

http://alizeeradio.com/ (caps don't matter) is a "virtual" Website operated by GoDaddy, i.e.
HTTP ("Web") requests sent to alizeeradio.com are immediately relayed to
http://www.goomradio.fr/radio/limelight-by-alizee?autoplayRadioId=7072545

The idea is to make it unnecessary to recall/use the complicated latter address. Do you get a connection if you use the longer address directly? If there REALLY are service issues, I will complain to GoDaddy. But please also remember that your ISP or even your access-computer software could also create issues ("filtering!") Checking from another computer and ISP is a great idea. And to check basic connectivity to alizeeradio.com per se, tell your computer from a "command-line" console to issue a PING, viz.

ping alizeeradio.com

http://www.goomradio.fr/radio/limelight-by-alizee?autoplayRadioId=7072545

The idea is to make it unnecessary to recall/use the complicated latter address. Do you get a connection if you use the longer address directly? If there REALLY are service issues, I will complain to GoDaddy. But please also remember that your ISP or even your access-computer software could also create issues ("filtering!") Checking from another computer and ISP is a great idea. And to check basic connectivity to alizeeradio.com per se, tell your computer from a "command-line" console to issue a PING, viz.

ping alizeeradio.com

Again, rather than here, please discuss AlizeeRadio.com in the thread at:

Folks, be careful with your inserts... I took mine out maybe two or three times today, and one of the little bumps on the case indent-scratched my insert (ever so slightly) and took out a "." sized bit of the ink

I'll just go ahead and put my copy in a resealable cellophane bag specifically designed for CD jewel cases. something like: http://www.uline.com/BL_5561/Resealable-Polypropylene-Bags

Sure does look neat written in the gold ("fairy dust") that it is in. Just got mine today and thanks again 'Scruffy!!!' I can't imagine just how much work that this all entailed; matching the autographed CDs per the names provided and the correct addresses and all plus all the expenses on shipping, etc. Hope you all broke even on all this. Of course, being at an Alizée autograph session would be quite thrilling in itself. Quite an accomplishment indeed, on all accounts. Too bad one couldn't ferry a truckload across the Atlantic.

Consider finding something with UV protection. Something like:

http://www.freedomdisplaycases.com/product7.html

Also, keep it out of direct sunlight and any source of moisture. ;)

I thought we had already come to the conclusion (or I did, at least) that she would get pissed and punch herself out of the solid-diamond case that I tried to hold her down in and kick my ass.

That much awesomeness simply cannot be contained in a closed space

Since I can't afford too many diamonds I also use D-Skin Protectors for my CDs and DVDs. Just snap them on and they play with the skins on anyways; keeps the disk surface from being scratched and damaged, etc.

If someone is bored and ambitious, here is a related Alizée-worship project.

Google makes available a free CAD tool called Sketchup which lets you add geo-referenced 3D structures to Google Earth. You could design and place the store and even stick a teeny Lily in it. It's been so long since I touched it, I forget if you can add 3D hotspots. But if you can, you might click on Lily and trigger a YouTube video of her during the AAm visit.

This process could be continued with other shrines, like the derelict factory in Belgium where ACC was shot, and so on.

Finally, one could tie all of them together by creating and publishing a trajectory which bounces between the shrines, pausing long enough for you to get off at each and look around before continuing.

Yes, with some elbow grease, you might create an entire virtual Lily theme park. I wonder if they hand out Tinkerbell wings there for the visitors to wear in place of mouse ears?

Merci Alizée

FanDeAliFee
04-17-2010, 08:37 PM
I am delighted with the positive responses to my suggestion about making SketchUp models of Alizée shrines and placing them into Google Earth for global publication.

If you look on YouTube, you will find instructional videos on how to semi-automatically erect models using photographs of the buildings in question. When Ron Howard was refused permission to shoot scenes in St. Sulpice for his film, <i>The DaVinci Code</i>, he had a virtual model built from photographs in a similar way.

If you cannot find the photos you need from among the billions already online in Google Earth Street View, FlickR, Panoramio, <i>etc</I>, remember that Alizée has fans in Europe whom you might recruit to shoot new ones.

If people get serious about doing this, it would be a good idea to start (a) new thread(s) to coordinate and document group efforts.

Note also that there are vast SketchUp libraries of premade objects already online within Google Earth, and it is not hard to rescale and repaint them, and so on. So if you want a giant high-heel shoe, there is no need to re-invent the wheel - or the shoe!

I don't know how Google Earth is handling mythical structures these days - perhaps you can do as you please if you use a special named layer users can optionally activate. But just think, if you constructed a giant Lilizilla, you could demand Tokyo surrender all of its Elise wafers to her - or else! ;)

I picked some up in NYC a week ago.

I asked for Elise - the guy had no idea what I was talking about. When I found the package and showed it to him he pointed to a label in the corner and suggested I ask for Bourbon (the company name I guess) in the future.

Even people who live in barbaric places (as does Jalen?) can always still order the premium Bourbon Elise cookie, thanks to e-commerce!

Price engine:
http://www.thefind.com/query.php?query=Bourbon+Elise
(The best retail deal is Mel & Rose, $3.99 (in stock) for a 4.55 oz box with 8 pieces)
You can economize by getting the 20-pack cases for a bit over $50.

Ingredients listed here:
http://www.amazon.com/Bourbon-Cookie-Sticks-Filled-Chocolate/dp/B000NNKWPM

Nutritional analysis here:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calories/bourbon-elise-chocolate-cream-white-cream-1720786

The cited Amazon page claims you can upload a product review video. Now, if only you could find one featuring a pretty French girl... Hmm.

BTW, should we send a gift package to Institubes for arrival on 21 August? (Remember, teddy bears can't be eaten in polite company!) And the REALLY big question is: chocolate cream or white cream?

Nutritional analysis? Uh... Alizée only bit one in half once, and now she doesn't look a day older than when she did. That's analysis enough for me.

In all honesty, I don't think she'd react to a large delivery of Elise very kindly... like Gene Simmons wouldn't want a lifetime supply of Kabuki makeup, or Chuck Norris receiving a couple hundred tour buses of fresh souls to eat (because frankly, he can get that himself with three eyes closed).

Let me go backwards in order of thanks. First, to Scruffy, thanks for doing this! Next, to doc, I disagree with you on points, but you made this happen! Next, thank you johnsons34. Thank you for telling me of this place! Next, to Kim (my sis in law) thanks for buying Brandon (my bro) WOW, and making me give a crap about the origns of the dancing. Next, to ben, for taking such good care of this site. Next, to brad, for giving Alizée a home in America. Next, to Alizée, for being so immensely amazing! Next, to Mylène Farmer, for bringing this spectacular chanteuse to the world! And finally, to someone everyone seems to ignore, but without whom Alizée's career may have never existed, to Vladimir Nabokov, for having the gall to write a book about a 50 year old obsessed with a twelve year old girl, who is possibly more important than Nabokov himself, Delorès Haze, aka L, aka Lo, aka Lola, aka Dolly, aka (most important of all) LOLITA. Merci beacoup !

I hope she would be. A lot of things have been said in here about MF and LB, both pro and con. I think they are two tremendously gifted artists and I'd like to thank them too. If it wasn't for them, Alizée would have probably evolved into something else. A successful artist I'm sure. But one we probably would never have heard about in other countries. The three of them put together some music and performances, the likes of which, I can't really describe, still can't understand their affect on me. So I'll just say thank you to all three of them.

A successful artist - maybe.

She would have finished school and probably would have gone on to College. For all we know, she might have majored in Computer Science. :)
