The Least Popular Alizée Song

So, I got an idea for a poll after reading one of wasabi's threads. I want to know the least favorite song. But first, I need suggestions. Until this thread reaches 20 posts, please do not mention your least favorite. Just list songs you think other people would vote for. Once it has 20 posts, I will add a poll. With the top most suggested songs. Please only post least favorite song suggestions, no opinions, quotes, or responses to other peoples' suggestions, until the poll has been added. Then go crazy, tell me why you hate what song you will have voted for. And remember, do not mention your least favorite song as a suggestion, just ones you think other people will vote for. And feel free to mention a song someone already else has. That shows it has a higher chance of getting votes on the poll. Also, please disregard her English re-do's, but count La Isla Bonita (studio) and Limelight. Just no I'm Not Twenty, I'm Fed Up!, Youpidoo (English), or Amelie (English). This is a no brainer. There is no Alizée song worse than Abracadabra. There really isn't. It sounds like some type of a children's song. It's the only song I skip over when I'm listening to an Alizée playlist. I've noticed that even with songs that I don't like too much - like songs off of Psych, I can still at least tolerate them to some extent, and I still find them somewhat enjoyable from time to time. IMO Abracadabra is the only flaw on Gourmandices. This is why MCE has always been my favorite overall album. Alizée at her best.

In regards to Couer Deja Pris, I felt the same way when I FIRST listened to it. But I love it now. What happened was, I heard a remix of that song...I think it was called the "heartbreak mix" or something to that extent. Holy crap, I didn't even recognize it as Couer Deja Pris. The melody just held me. So what I ended up doing was revisiting that song and listening to it a few times and I noticed that it really helps to display Alizée's singing ability. It's not an easy song to sing but she does a very good job with it. I love her voice.

Who could NOT like that? Or CDP? Dude, perfect showcase of her vocal range! Décollage: personally, I like this one quite a bit. Limelight: my favorite part of this is epic violin intro. I'm really surprised to see Lui ou toi, L'e-mail a des ailes and Mes fantômes there as those songs are amongst my favourites from the three albums they're from. I think if anything, this proves that Alizée produces very few substandard songs and the popularity of each song is left entirely down to personal prefences. This is a VERY good thing and she's the only artist I know of with such consistency :D

I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the MCE songs. I felt that picking one would simply betray it, and myself. I like each of them, each is unique in its own way. So, I picked:

Abracadabra - I don't have that much against the cat, but I find the song sort of monotone, and short on lyrics.

L'effet - interesting to listen to a few times, but I don't think jazz and a melancholy tone really suit Alizée.

Une Fille Dificille - really embodies all of what I dislike about the new album: video game music, synthesizer-like and artificial sound, a concept theme, a darker tone.

I put L'e-mail because it had a few people suggest it. I personally love it. As for Mes Fantômes, I personally don't like it like other people do. Not bad, but I don't like how it never really changes its tempo. It feels a bit too consistent within itself.

I didn't vote for any of the songs on Gourmandises & MCE. I love them all & each is very different in their own way :)

I voted for:
Décollage - I like it at first, but i don't think i'm into this kind of style after a few listens.
La Candida - it's too short and sounds a bit sugary to me.

I voted Abracadabra. As I said before, its that damn cat. Plus it kinda gives me that cheesy halloween feeling sometimes. Not a horrible song though because I do listen to it, just far less than others.

So far, behind Abracadra more people have voted Cœur Déjà Pris, Décollage, and L'effet, but I like all of them. I find Cœur Déjà Pris and L'effet calming. And I don't have anything against Décollage. I enjoy listening to it and I can kinda find it cute at some parts. Kinda catchy too. But thats just me. The only one that really pops into mind when asked what my "least popular" or "least favorite" Alizée song is, is Abracadabra. I just like all her songs really.

MDR! After I voted I was surprised to see so many people agree with me. Yeah, Abacadabra doesn't really do it for me. Once in a few months I'll be in the mood to listen to it again. However, the song is one of the main things that really helped drive home for me the point of french not having any system of primary stress in polysyllabic words. So it was useful to me that way :)

Haha me too! I think its got something to do with the church-bell chimes going on towards the end of the song. Similarly, the beginning of Grand Central is positively Christmassy :D

Yah PDH...it is just a creepy instrumental song...but Lilly's voice is good. When it's that bad it is even okay to say you hate an Alizee song. But it's really by Mylene so technically you are only hating the instrumental part and not Alizee's voice....ahhh too much....im tired

I could easily do that, but if you have iTunes it's even easier ;-) :)

You just have to select the song, get info and select options. Change the starting time to wherever you want it to start and voila. Although this quick edit is for you iPod, iPhone and iTunes only, if you upload the song or do anything else with it, it will still have the whole content as nothing is deleted yet...

But even if you delay the start, you will still hear those meows in the middle of the sound. By the way, I'm quite sure that Lefty and Uméesha have enough knowledge about sound mixing to make a "cat-free" version, so go and persuade them to do it ;)

Do we have to choose our least favorite song and the poll results will reflect which song is least popular. If I understand the word popular then I'm sure that it can't be judged before what most of the people think.

So, I assume it's least favorite song list or is it so? I'm not sure about this too.

It's not clear to me, so, when I was voting, I thought which songs from each album are least listened by me and then voted for those.

Are others also choosing the songs which are listened least number of times by them or are these songs not liked by others?

Disappointed to see "L'e-mail a des ailes" was included in it. Same can be said to few other songs too.

After the I'm not able to distinguish between all songs on this basis. One thing that I can be sure of is that Mon Maquis, Abracadabra, Decollage, are least listened by me.

Other songs of Gourmandises, MCE and Psychedelices are more or less for me on this basis of distinction.

I have been listening to UEdS for last few weeks. So, I listen to its songs whenever I play the album. Sometimes I skip La Candida, Limelight and Les Coillines because I have listened to those many times before the release of the album.

I believe that I have listened top 8 songs of that list, over 5000 times each. :)
Those are not only my favorite songs from Her album, but from all the albums of any artist that I have listened till now.

My interpretation of the results obtained so far:

Gourmandises

All the songs of this album are very good, but Abracadabra is so far behind of other songs that it's least favorite of many people.

MCE
Cœur Déjà Pris and Tempête, people tend to skip these after listening to ACC or JEAm. That's how these are least favorite. I still like these a lot and Cœur Déjà Pris is among top 5 in my list.

Psychedelices
Here we find many songs with almost equal voted. This suggests that there is not much difference in song when when people have to tell what they like and what they don't. Decollage is known to lest favorite of many people, it is not unexpected.

UEdS is still new.

One more thing that can be noticed is that there is one common least popular in the first album, then the number increases.

Yes, that effects choice of the song too. When I'm relaxed, I listen to L'e-mail a des ailes, Tempete or songs like that. When I'm happy, I listen to ACC. Day, time and situation contribute to our desire to listen a particular song.

One thing for sure, Her songs work in all kinds of situation. If I'm sad, then it brings happiness and when I'm happy, it increases happiness. :)

I agree, C4! But that doesn't mean I don't listen to other music. But I have had only Alizée to listen to for 2 months straight (except getting on youtube to try Soshi) and have not been bothered by it yet. And that includes all her songs! ALL! Minus ones I don't have, like UEdS (:() and La Isla Bonita. Grr... I never, ever skip songs! I usually start with Mademoiselle Juliette (due to a previous deletion, it wound up on top of a formerly alphabetical list), but have been known to start on other songs if they are stuck in my head beforehand. Then I just play all of them shuffled. Or, if I want to listen to En Concert, I start with IntrAlizée, and then play the whole thing in order.

I have always wondered how they got that cat to meow so loudly! Cats don't normally sound that way, the poor baby in Abracadabra sounds agitated or scared. (Morrissey has never meowed like that, anyways. He has a funny meow, it sounds like "meh" instead of the usual "mrow")

Yeah the only thing that could terrify a cat so it makes that unholy noise is Mylène leaping at out of a wardrobe. My cat never makes normal cat noises either, just kind of squeaks when she's happy and makes a strangled yelp if she's unhappy/hungry. :cool:

Agreed, I like the video and the making of the video video, but her outfit seen here totally ruined some of the live versions for me. But I liked the live versions where she wore the outfit that was worn in the video.

There are no songs on either UEDS or Psychédélices that I don't like in the sense of finding them unpleasant to listen to. Even L'effet is growing on me. I guess if I had to pick one as "least favorite" from UEDS it would be La Candida, but that may just be because it's the only song that I can't understand the lyrics. :p

I like all the songs on the old albums, too. I even like Abracadabra, although I have to admit that a squalling cat as a musical instrument doesn't work as well as Laurent might have hoped.

It seems strange that one can skip a song like decollage when first heard, yet as you listen more it becomes yet another song to enjoy. One thing I have found in all these polls is that after I cast a vote I feel I need to change it a few days later.

Agreed. It's one of my favourites on UEDS.

My least favourites on each album (since that's what this thread is about) are J.B.G., Youpidou, and Factory Girl. I couldn't bring myself to choose one from Psychédélices. :D

It's one of my least favourite songs from UEDS for that exact reason :D I guess it's all down to taste though, it's not a bad song, I just don't like it as much as others. :rolleyes:

It's not that, I love the retro feel of UEDS, I just think that the "Japanese game" type of music sounds a little cheap and overused.

I couldn't decide with UEdS because i like all songs on that album. Mon maquis and L'effet is the only Alizée songs i can't call "good". Tempete is ok, but it's my least favourite on MCÉ.

I don't know why you all hate Abracadabra so much? :D It's definitely NOT one of my favourites but it isn't that bad... :p

My least favorite song is Moi Lolita in English , as she says they worked on it but obviously it sits locked up not yet to be heard or produced for reasons i won't bother going into .
My least favorite song is really none , i love them all and even the ones most do not like such as Abracadabra , Mon Maquis is awesome , Toc De Mac love love them all .

Abra is my least liked of MF/LB era but is a far cry from the Mario Brothers sound of UEDS. That's why I picked my least favorite song as La Candida. It is just too boring and little vocal range from Alizee. Everything else on UEDS is a close second to her worst. It is only tolerable because I love Alizee's voice on anything at any time.

Very hard to say. There's songs that I don't listen them everyday, maybe not every week too, but since every song have some purpose for me I really love the song when I listen it again.

Just, they bring back places where I've listened them before and makes me live again some past time :)

If this were a few years ago, I would have picked "Cœur Déjà Pris". But after hearing a remix of that song, I found it to be really beautiful. And why is "L'e-mail A Des Ailes" on this list? It's a pretty good song, and her performance of it in that cute little blue and white dress during the "En Concert" Tour was amazing! AND LIMELIGHT? WHAT THE...

"Abracadabra" all the way. I don't even know if I could call that a song. I think when I had my playlist on random one time and Abracadabra came on, someone asked me, "why are you listening to a children's song?" Hahaha!

I feel the same way about the rest of the album, I remember I took the SATs a few years ago and when I finished and left, it had rained a little outside and well I just happened to play my Zée playlist and the first song was from Psych, it felt just right that day. Then a few months later it was really cloudy and raining, so I grabbed a chair and faced it towards a window and sat down to listen to the album. It was quite pleasant, usually I don't listen to albums beginning to end :)
