View Full Version : Which region of Paris does Alizee live in?

Does she live in the Montmarte region? I did a search and found out alot of poets, artists and musicians live in that area of Paris. Maybe in France they dont talk about those things for privacy reasons.

I hear Paris has a Chinatown also.

I guess you could narrow it down by finding out which cafe she frequents the most in Paris. I still havent seen any pics of her home in Corsica.

She is wealthy so probably her and Jeremy own a large penthouse apartment somewhere in Paris.

Here in America, we know where alot of celebrities live and its not a big secret. Look at John Lennon.. everyone knew where he lived in New York City when he stayed there.

I heard from a forum awhile back (whether true or not) claiming that Alizée lives in the 9th Arondisement which is by the Opera Garnier. I was in Paris in September looking at properties and the most expensive is the 7th Arondisement which is by the Tour Eiffel the average home is at $1.2 million euro and that is an average looking flat.

Matrix

The Opera Garnier, she lives near it.... hmmm this makes sense because the Opera house is used for ballet training and performances.. something which Alizee loves to do. That side of town is near the Montmarte, its the north side of town and Sacre Coeur is further north of that up on the highest hill in Paris

So Paris is divided up by Arondissiments? Like Boroughs in NYC?

Here's a link to a pic of the Opera Garnier

That is also where the Cafe la Paix is where the latest claim of someone talking to Jeremy. The 9th Arondisement is a nice area you have the Galeries Lafayette which is an upscale department store and L'Olympia Music Hall where they have big acts perform.

Señor Villa

Yes Matrix there are 20 Arondisements in Paris like the different burroughs in NYC.

Okay so thats it.. Alizee lives on the North side of Paris. I understand the north side is hilly and the highest hill is on that side overlooking the entire city.

She must have a fantastic view of Paris from her home.

Where she lives is NONE of our business...

So don't even talk about it. Let her live in piece.

Here is a link to the 9th Arrondissiment in Paris where Alizee lives. Has a map and everything. Yep the Cafe la Paix is in that area too just like Senor Villa said! Flagship department stores in this area... yep Alizee would love that!!!

Montmartre (18th) has been traditionally the cheapest part of old Paris to live in, why artists lived there. But Picasso and other wealthy artists stayed in Montparnasse (14th) which is a wealthier residential area known for its great cafés and restaurants. Amelie was filmed in Montmartre in case you wanted to know what that part of Paris was like, it also drove up the cost of living there. You'll remember the Basilica du Cœur Sacré (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/99/Paris_Sacre-Coeur.JPG/800px-Paris_Sacre-Coeur.JPG) on Montmartre hill if you've seen the movie.

The store is huge you have everything you want including food and music. Printemps the other main department store was not a nice as the Galeries Lafayette.

I go to school in the 9eme. :)

No one's mentioned that it's also home to Pigale, traditionally the red light / sex district! Though these days it's more just a tourist trap... Moulin Rouge, etc.

The 9th also has a large Jewish community, which may or may not be of importance to Jérémy.

But... who started comparing these to NYC boroughs??? Each of the five NYC boroughs is about the size of all of Paris total, heh. The arrondissements are way way smaller. More like zip codes. In fact, each one is a Paris postal code. 75001, 75002, etc.

So Alizée's address is probably like...

Alizée Jacotey/Chatelain
Something rue de something
Paris France 75009

Thanks RMJ, always loved that style of architecture, did you need permission or are you allowed to photograph inside like that. Or did you just take the photographs and not worry about it, something that I never could do when using a large format camera. :) I read though that the Paris Opera moved into a new building a few years ago so is the Opera Garnier just used for ballet now or what?

Señor Villa

Yeah Pigalle red-light district is a tourist trap. It's not like the red-light district in Amsterdam which I thought most of the women there where to put it nicely ugly with maybe a couple as an exception.

I asked permission to photograph inside the Galeries Lafayette which they were fine with the exception of the fine jewelry area.

I dunno if you are allowed to photograph there but I didn't much care. :p

But I guess it's allowed since I took few photos behind desk where lady from store staff was helping customers. And she couldn't care less what I was doing.

Here is couple photos of the new opera house. Dunno how exactly they are used nowadays. It's located at the Bastille. Which is intersect of 3rd, 4th, 11th and 12th arrondissements .

This discussion had come up when the forum was new. It was mentioned that a lot of french stars live in the 16th district and it was thought that Alizée might be living there.

It's all pure speculation anyway. Alizée's personal life should be respected and left to her and her family.

Yeah, like Bigfoot LOL. Almost like a myth. She is real, you can almost see her, but can't get too close...'Cept Lili's feet are way smaller.:p

It still amazes me how many of us have fallen in love with this creature (Lili) solely from the internet. Having never witnessed her on live TV or seen her in real life, she exists like she is just a myth.

For those who have witnessed Lili singing live, I truly consider you lucky!

Merci beacoup everyone for replying, I learned alot about Paris from this thread. Thanks for the map of the Arondissiments color coded, I've been looking for a map like that! :) aFrenchie you the man! and clearing up difference between boroughs in NYC and zip codes in Paris, thanks snatcher42

Awesome photos of the opera house snd galeries lafayette..magnifique! Senor Villa:)

So its a pretty good educated guess she lives in the 9th Arondissiment then, i would put my money on it. Look at the facts:

1. Large jewish community
2. Alot of shopping
3. Opera house for ballet training and dancing
4. Near the Montmartre, alot of artists, poets, musicians live there, highest elevation in the city, the Sacre Couer - what a view

The key is to think where Jeremy would want to live in Paris.. Alizee would follow.. the 9th Arondissiment is a perfect fit for both.

One of the reasons I picked this pic of Aliz'ee for my sig is because my husband has a bit of a foot fetish. As soon as he saw the pic he said 'Your feet are identical to hers.' I would have prefered he said 'Her feet are identical to yours.' but I'll take the compliment anyway. :D

Don't forget the Olympia music hall, where she and most of her peers have played. I think that would be the biggest draw to the area after the Galleries Lafayette for someone like Alizée.

I wish we had a great metro system like this where I live. Make sure if you are going to be in Paris for a week get the Carnet Orange. Make sure you bring two passport photos and learn to ask that you would like to buy the Carnet Orange in French because some metro stations will not sell them to tourists. You get your money's worth.

Ben
10-26-2006, 04:43 PM
Carte Orange*

Yeah, it's worth it if your gonna use the metro more than 10 times (which you probably will), though the Carnet (pack of 10 tickets) isn't a bad option either if you don't want to bother with the passport photo.

There's also a month long Carte Orange, which is what I'm currently using.

And yeah, the metro gets you anywhere in the city pretty fast. You almost never have to change lines more than once. I get from my apartment in the 6eme to school in the 9eme in about 15min... so local landmarks: not really all that important clues as to where Alizée might live.

To add one more thing that I just remembered about where Alizée might possibly live, it was mentioned that a doorman at a hotel was said to know the district inwhich a lot of the stars lived, and he stated that Alizée lived in the 16th district.
