i don't know how much success we will have with this, but we can consider this a trial run ... I will post an Alizee video on digg tomorrow evening or the next evening. I will wait to see the best time the most people are online for a final time.
I don't think we really have enough people yet, but this will be good practice, and it can't hurt the cause any. if you have a digg.com account, be ready to digg tomorrow! Remember, the faster diggs come in, the better chance we have of getting promoted.

My suggestion is a Moi Lolita video, isn't that her most famous song? J'en ai Marre is an excellent choice but like you said it's just a trial run.
Nevertheless, a trial run means exposure so... we need to come out with guns blazing! :)

You are right about La Isla Bonita .. that is (IMHO) the best bet. No real reason we couldn't do it twice (at least at some point)
If you have a better quality version of that JEAM video, I would love to have it. If you need a place to upload it, I can give you FTP .. or you can just use rapidshare (whatever is easier for you).

Moi Lolita could be a good choice, mainly because it has 'Lolita' in the title .. lol
a lot of people would probably click that just out of curiosity. man this is a tough decision ... i think i will save the JEAM video, so i can get that better quality version uploaded.

It's like a MetaCafe rating I guess. You can vote thumbs down or thumbs up, make sure you click thumbs up, it just adds another Digg!!! If you vote thumbs down it de-hi lights the comment like an offensive rating on MetaCafe

the comments don't matter for the ranking. it is all about the number of diggs or votes that the story itself gets.
users are allowed to moderate the comments themselves. so someone leaves a stupid comment, you can vote it down so it is hidden.
digg is kind of annoying at times, it is full of a lot of idiots. that said, a lot of people look at it, so it is a good way to reach a lot of people.

Like you said Brad, it can't hurt any. We can try that vid, Moi-Lolita, Gourmandises, La Isla Bonita, a couple combined, etc. How can we lose?
i have been watching other stories carefully today, and I think this is going to be easier than I thought. I saw over 10 stories get promoted to the front page in the video section with 32 diggs.
Most of them had been submitted for over 10 hours. There is a good chance that this current video could be promoted. If there are 13 more diggs in the next 5 hours or so it should go.
I am pretty confident that we can do this now, definitely with a more 'interesting' video .. might take a few more tries but I think it will get there.

if you are familiar with slashdot, it is just like that, except all the users do the moderation. people submit interesting stories, and whatever gets the most votes gets promoted to the front page and is archived.
just to give you an idea, youtube's popularity is directly tied to digg. Youtube didn't really explode until digg started directing so much traffic to them.
if one of our stories hits the homepage, we can expect thousands of visits immediatly. it is an extremely popular website. I honestly believe with some careful planning, we can expose Alizee to a mass market of people that would love her if they just knew about her :)

well, this first try at digg has been an amazing success. thanks to everyone who helped out! Our story was actually promoted and it would have made the home page but it looks like it was burried because so many people that voted for it were using brand new accounts.
I suspected this would happen, and it really doesnt concern me. What suprised me is how 'easy' it seems to be to get a story promoted. If everyone had somewhat established digg accounts (meaning they are voting on stories on a consistant basis) our story would be on the home page right now ... :)
Like I said, I am not to worried about that part of it. I think enough of the 'regular' digg users will begin voting for some of our stories eventually, and has time goes on, a lot of you with new accounts will have more established accounts.
we will try this again soon :)

they use a very complex system for rankings and stuff. no one knows what it is for sure, but it is based on how long you have been on the website, how popular the stories you vote on become, how many people vote on your stories .. etc .. etc ..
it is actually a very useful website, i find a lot of interesting news on there .. and it is usually reported about 3-6 hours before major press outlets get it.
jus use it normally if you like it and find it useful. if you aren't into that kind of thing, don't worry about going there and just digging random stuff, that probably wouldn't hel anyway

BTW, for those looking at the difference between the JEAM video I just uploaded and the one already on this site... I'd say that the color saturation is the main thing. For some reason the M16 avi is very washed out.

Well... sorta. I think there are some other live videos that could work well, but they should be more dynamic than Hey Amigo. Toc de mac, L'e-mail a des ailes, Moi Lolita, Parler tout bas, C'est trop tard, and Youpidou are all good imo.
Some of the TV performances are more eye-catching, but the reason I mention a live vid is because many Americans seem to get hung-up on the lip-syncing. They don't understand that it's standard practice in Europe, and assume the only reason she's doing it is cause she's talentless.
ooohhh ... c'est trop tard would be great.

Digg works like a user rated system where people "vote" on things like, videos, news, blogs etc...
The amount of exposure to Diggs main page is based on the "digg rating" of the arcitle. This in turns, puts the article available and accessible to hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who see the front page of digg, thus promoting Alizee.

I would think it might be a good idea to try "Moi ... Lolita" sometime soon, since it's being used in the movie "A Good Year." Perhaps making the connection with that movie might draw more people to take a look at it ... and discover Alizée.
