The thread to be in for Anime and Manga fans. Anything from childhood shows like the Dragon Ball series, Pokémon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-OH! to others that are less heard of like Sailor Moon, Bleach, and Naruto to those that not really heard of in the everyday world of media like Soul Eater, Bleach, and Cardcaptor Sakura. You don't need to be a fan in here, just don't be a jerk. And please, no hentai and such.
To start this thread off, I'd like to present a few upcoming releases of Anime titles in the next few weeks or so. These 3 are by FUNimation, an anime distributor.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Part 3 on Blu-ray and DVD
It's a great show. At first I didn't think I'd like until I actually saw. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Anime shows are awesome.
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fKblj-7ykLY?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x99999 9"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fKblj-7ykLY?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x99999 9" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Part 3 on Blu-ray and DVD
The epic Legend Reborn, Dragon Ball Kai is the same DBZ. The differences.... It's a redubbing of the awesome Z, with most of the voice actors reprising their roles. With this, the actors are a lot better and it's been completely remastered for HD. There's also no filler (useless story not part of the actual story line).
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZRt_KPsgji0?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x234900&color2=0 x4e9e00"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZRt_KPsgji0?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x234900&color2=0 x4e9e00" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Tsubasa: The OVA Collection on Blu-ray and DVD
One of my top favorite anime shows and manga from Tsubasa. If you're a Chris Sabat fan, the guy known for voicing half the characters in Dragon Ball Z including Vegeta and Piccolo, then this is an epic anime OVA to watch. However if you haven't seen the anime show, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, yet then ur gonna have to wait to see this. The anime gets a lil complicated after somewhere around mid 2nd season and then it goes off into filler. This OVA follows the manga more closely and goes into a teen audiences.

Sorry if some of these gave off some spoilers.
And remember, there's no such thing as coincidence, only inevitability.

My favorite anime ever is Cowboy Bebop, hands down. I love everything, from the plot to the characters to the animation and especially the music.
I have also seen & enjoyed Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell, Outlaw Star, Escaflowne, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Akira. I think I may be missing a couple, but those are the ones that are among my favorites
As far as manga goes, I did read Naruto at one point, but began to dislike it after the timeskip. I read Bleach, however. It is enjoyable & Kubo is a crazy author & I enjoy his art. ^^
I have also read Slam Dunk, which is a really good manga for anybody who is a basketball fan. Very enjoyable. Haven't really read more manga cuz it's hard to get into when they have been in print for a long time and a lot of the series are very similar in a lot of ways.
That's all I have for now! ^_^

Alright Uni! You made the thread! <div class="background" style="position: relative; right: 26px; top: -4400px;"><img src="http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/yy338/DanielBroManGuy/dragonball.png" /></div>
My favorite anime? Dragon Ball Z!!! I love the whole Dragon Ball series/franchise. It's the first anime (or anything really) that I really got into as a kid (with the exception of barney and power rangers as a small child lol). It was what I really looked forward to most of the day at school to go home and watch. I had an hour long bus ride home which allowed me to get home as soon as it was starting. Get off the bus, run as fast as I could down the long, gravel driveway, then tune into Tsunami on Cartoon Network :D. It was what really jump started my passion to draw too. Whether it was simply drawing the characters or making up my own, just about everything I drew before middle school was related to DBZ in some way. I really got into that show and it will always have a place with me. I still plan on buying all the episodes and movies on dvd one of these days so I'll always have them to watch.
I really think DBZ helped shape me in some ways as well. Not just with it jump starting my passion for drawing and art, but the stories and their messages that I got from them. Just a great series with all of it's epicness, tragedy, comedy, and more.
As for other anime, I never much got into anything else quite like I did DBZ. Nothing else was really capable of sticking with me for as long I suppose. That and I suppose the timing for DBZ being introduced to me was just about perfect as well. I watched some Digimon some but not enough to get into it I guess. I did get into Pokémon for a while when it first started but then they just took it too far with all of the different types of Pokémon coming in all the time. I did play one of the gameboy games a lot though, Crystal version. Good time waster, lol. Similar to Pokémon, I ended up getting out of Yu-gi-oh when they started coming out with too many new characters, monsters, and cards. I was really into that around 5th and 6th grade though. Really enjoyed the dueling. And then there was Naruto. I did watch that for a while and liked that but eventually it stopped showing and like DJ, I just wasn't much into it after the time skip. Oh, crap, I almost forgot about the Gundam series. I did get into that for a bit around the time I was into DBZ. I just never could watch the episodes as much so I couldn't keep up but that was a pretty cool show too.
Ok, enough out of me for now. I could go on and on about DBZ though :D

Ummm....All I have ever watched was Pokemon....cause I thought all other Anime is just not interesting since I like more real things. And yes, pokemon are real. I have the whole first edition of pokemon cards in my basement. But I stopped being a fan of the show once they stopped including Ash, Misty, Brock, and whoever else. RIP Pokemon :)
And just making sure, I wasn't be a jerk with this right?

I think this makes you a decent Anime/Manga fan, DJ. :) One time I was trying to look for an anime or manga on Basketball since I'm a Bball fan and I found Slam Dunk, and it was great actually.

Yeah, I did. You're a straight up DB fan. You can keep posting about your experiences with DB if you want so there's no need to stop there. :D I also got tired of watching Pokémon, Yu-Gi-OH!, and others like em after they started coming out with those new shows. They're simply just for the next generation to enjoy em but we can always remember what started em in the first place.

i used to be pretty big into anime... i still watch movies every now and then... my fav of course like most is DB/DBZ/DBGT... but hands down the best movie/mini-series is a 3 part called 5 centimeters per second... it's pretty deep...

Awww..... I miss Pokémon.
It is also the only anime I've ever watched and I lost interest when they increased the number of Pokémon from 151 to 251. I still have hundreds of first edition Pokémon cards, the first episode of the first season on VHS where Ash picks Pikachu and I also have the game Pokémon Yellow to Gameboy Color. Everyone in my school had Pokémon cards 10 years ago. I remember trading my Machamp (http://www.pokezam.com/tcg/base/8.jpg) card for 40 cards and I also remember when I was sad because my only Pikachu (http://chuckels2000.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/e3pikachu.jpg) card was destroyed in the washing machine. A pack of 11 cards (http://www.coinfinders.com/pokemon.jpg) cost 5,82 USD in Sweden at the time.

I loved DBZ. It was like...a soap opera for dudes.
You could watch it on monday...then not see it again until friday, and not miss a single thing. Someone was either:
A. Giving an evil speech as too how they will take over the world.
or
B. Powering Up to kill said bad guy.
but it was AWESOME.
I loved that show.

Ok, so, I've been watching DBZ here and there for about 3 weeks. I watched episode 200 today :D. The weekend before Christmas, I was informed of a place where I could watch online. Been re-watching the show ever since. It's been years since I've seen the show, so, it's sooo good to be able to watch it again. And if you guys are worried about ripping of the franchise like this or anything, don't worry, I still plan on buying everything DB, DBZ, and GT on DVD. That show is such a big part of who I am. A big part of my childhood. It makes me so happy :')

Mostly "IT'S OVER 9000!!!", "The balls are inert.", "Servant woman, bring me a drying cloth at once!", and "Hey, King Kai. Love the new shirt, it's rippin'!". Haha. One time I said, "Servant woman, bring me a drying cloth at once!" at dinner and my mom brought me a paper towel! LOL. I was just randomly saying it. I kinda felt bad, but it was funny stuff. I say that one about every time I get out of the shower too, haha.

See, what ha-happened was I saw the entire saga from the beginning of Dragon Ball to the last Dragon Ball Z episode for the past year now. A lot of people forget that DBZ is actually a sequel to an older work. Dragon Ball tells the story of Goku's childhood and while the show was somewhat more action comedy based than its more mature successor, I think DBZ fans should go back before the Saiyan sagas of the show which became known as the most popular of animes.
For those DBZ fans who haven't heard yet, DBZ arrived on Blu-ray November 8th and no it's not another part of DBZ Kai, it's the start of remastering the original series into HD quality. What I don't like about this idea is that they're coming in 17-episode releases of a show that has over 200 episodes. I'd personally stick to the Dragon Box sets than this besides DBZ Kai is already perfect for Blu.
Here's an interview on the release with the FUNi masters themselves, Gen Fukunaga, Matt O'Hara, and of Corse, Chris the Sabat.

On the day after Thanksgiving, the wife of voice actor Dan Green (Voice Actor of Yugi and Yami from Yu-Gi-Oh! and Knuckles from Sonic), Michal Friedman (who was also a voice actor and singer), gave birth to two beautiful and healthy twins, Jackson James and Reverie Vivian Snyder. Shortly afterward, however, she passed away due to complications at childbirth.

Here's a site if you would like to send a kind message of condolence to Dan in this troubling time. I can't imagine what it would be like to bring up two children as a single parent. You don't have to be a big on anime to leave a message.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Part 3 on Blu-ray and DVD
It's a great show. At first I didn't think I'd like until I actually saw. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Anime shows are awesome.

I haven't really been able to get into Brotherhood. I much preferred the first anime. It was my favorite program on television when adult swim used to air it on saturday nights.
