On the main page of the forum, it says:
"Most users ever online was 97, 09-05-2006 at 05:57 PM."
97 seems very big I think, it's more than a third of the amount of members. What the heck happened that very day? Anyone knows?

I have been trying to figure that out. The only thing that I can think of is that is a day or so after I made this video (http://moi-alizee.us/play/?v=61)

but i don't think it would bring that many people in. That number is kind of innacurate anyway because it only shows people that are looking at the forum. it doesnt include people looking at other parts of the website (like videos, homepage, etc.)

Bug in software is the most likely reason. Or some web crawler went crazy and had multiple threads running on this board.

It's not very likely to have 97 users here at the same time. It's pretty simple math. That day, the forum had roughly 150 members ( you can see it from member list ). If 25% of them were online, it there still need to be over 60 non-registered users online. And having ~40 registered users online at the same time, would be quite unlikely. So, it would be safe to safe that if we assume that at most 20 members were online (which would be very big number for forum size of this!) we'd need 80 non-member to be online at the same time. Which is quite a lot. Unless if it was some really big site that bring those member to this board. And if it were so, I'm sure you'd see it in the logs. It would involve huge traffic spike.

So, based on pure math and logic, I'd say it's error.

Of course it can be correct, but it would likely show up in logs somehow then.

i highly doubt it is a bug, could have easily been web crawlers though.

we have been getting at least 800 unique visits everyday since the first week the website was launched. usually it hovers around 1000 visits a day. again, the forums only show people that are actively in the forum .. it doesnt include people on other parts of the website, I need to look at integrating it somehow.

Kind of off topic, but take a look at what little bit of exposure we got on digg did for the stats .. lol

The visits basically doubled in 1 day, and we didn't even get promoted :)

Begining of October! Everyone was expecting Alizee to give some news on her third album so they kept on checking the website I guess.

Eh, that's possible, I guess. Word that Rocket was posting here seems more plausible, though.

But yeah, it was probably because Rocket joined!

On alizee-forum.com, "Most users ever online was 554 on Thu 30 Dec, 2004".

I was in Paris at the time, in a net café with Mark (Backinblack). He logged on to the admin control panel to try and see what was going on. Nearly all of the users were unregistered guests with unique IP addresses. So to this day we still have no idea what happened! :)

MFI has the peak at the same day, if you haven't noticed. :) (atleast if I remember right... tho MFI is not responding right now so can't check it out...)

But yeah, no idea what caused that...

Since it's working again... Looks like I remembered wrong. It's actually has another date.

But I'm pretty sure I had seen the same date on it. Oh well...

Digg generated crazy amounts of traffic, so much so that the server went down shortly after the story was promoted and brad said that they needed to limit forum access to acommodate all the people streaming the videos.
