Alizee performing Moi Lolita at the Nickelodeon UK studios in London.

I was working at Nick from 2000-2003 & was recently having a clearout & found some rusting CDs with old Nick performances on.

I have cleaned up the picture a fair bit.

Hope it brings back some memories.

I wonder if anyone can pin down an exact date for this performance. I looked through the Czech data base and it looks like she was in England at least twice in 2002. Once early around jan/feb, the other around june.

Ooooh I like it :D I'm actually not surprised that no one was able to record this or even know about it back then since I doubt the usual "performance recorders" watched UK Nick in 2002. It's just crazy how no one knew of this. I wonder if there are any more unseen performances out there.

She looks very young. If I had to guess, I would say January is more likely. :)

EDIT:
After checking, I wold have to now say June is more likely. Hairstyle is inconsistent with Jan/Feb, but very consistent with June. :)

Would think it was aired early February 2002, that was when ML was released in the UK and was when her main promotion attack on the UK happened with shows such as TOTP Prime, The Passengers, the Saturday Show..... as well as other performances that have got lost.

She seems a lot more.... mellow in this performance than in other early ML ones. There's much less of the movement, bouncing, smiling and excited waving I've come to expect from Gourmandises Alizée. Here we don't get a lot of any of those... just a whole lot of giving the camera the "Lili eye". ;)

It really brings out the "seductress who's a lot more mature than you'd expect for her age" aspect to the song, as opposed to the "apparently innocent little girl singing about things that prove she is anything but" aspect we get in performances such as this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TohVyvF7Gpg) - possibly because I'd imagine the two are up to a year apart (judging only by hair :p) but still it adds a new dimension to the song I think. :cool:

The reason she doesn't have as much movement and smiling and waving to the crowd is because, well, there is no crowd in this performance. I bet in that room there was the cameraman, Lilly, Mylene, and some stage dudes. Not really an exciting performance cause she couldn't show her love for the crowd since there wasn't one...

She still looked amazing :wub:

Yeah, this is amazing. A new find after all these years. I mean, I'm STILL seeing stuff I've never seen.... but to see something that practically no one else has seen... wild.

And the quality is absolutely incredible. It's basically HD from before there was HD!

That and Mylene's obsession of turning Alizee into a little slut! Hence why Alizee is wearing a dog collar.......yes i know its called a choker but it symbolizes a lot more, especially one like this that is not just a necklace! Personally I see no difference between that choker and wearing a regular dog's collar.... its the same exact thing minus the leash. I wonder if that accessory was Alizee's choice; I think not becuase it looks humiliating!

Weird?? No, no, this is weird... Let me attempt to link Lio, “something crazy in her eyes” and Alizée.;)

In the early 80’s LB first wanted Lio (first row in the image Bigdan posted) to sing the song “Maman a tort” that would eventually become MF’s first single. He finally selected MF before he even heard her sing a single note, mainly because of her psychotic look... Ohh... and at some point, LB apparently also considered a 15 year old singer, but would have given up on the idea because of legal considerations. It is interesting that 20 years later, he would, with MF, launch the career of then 15 year old Alizée.

And BTW, I think most people give a little too much credit to MF for the really impressive career she has. Without going as far as saying MF provided little to the mix, LB was the main creative force. Although LB masterfully composed most of MF’s music and revolutionized the French music video industry, many people still seem to minimize his contribution because it is MF’s “face” that is associated with the concept. Actually, regardless of what MF’s contributed, LB’s vision was quite elaborated before she even showed up for the audition.
