Publishing a thread I started working on a while back. In the coming days I will continue updating it and trying to parse the good interviews from MCE and GOURM and have subtitles to go along. Other than that, enjoy!

Actually, I think this year's LE featured Alizee more than any other previous LE. I bought it a couple of months ago and have been enjoying watching it ever since. It would have been nice had they included Alizee and Claire Keim's duet as a bonus. But. still very much worth it. Plus, I would have bought it even just for the "tutu medley!" :D

PS: Sorry for getting off topic. I know there is a separate thread for LE 2012. Feel free to move this. Thx.

This is a copyrighted work and is still available at retail. One complaint from the guys in suits at Universal and your thread will be GONE.

I know how much hard work you put into this: posting all those tv clips and generating subs where there were none. It would be nice to have other people enjoy it as long as possible. I'm just afraid that one or both of those two things might wind up getting you shut down very quicky.

I had a similar experience. I was watching the video indifferently, thinking of turning it off, as it displayed a collection of scantily dressed women; and then Alizee came on and whoa! I lit up.

While I am as excited as anyone else to see Alizée pop up somewhere outside of our secluded bubble, I am going to address the content of the video as well because I find it relevant to our fandom.

It's funny because I was just pondering this issue myself the other day. Lately there has been a war waged against beauty in our society. We are told that admiring beauty in women is tantamount to misogynistic objectification, while the same individuals who push this agenda celebrate the freedom of their own sexuality and condemn anyone else who tries to suppress it. Ignoring the obvious hypocrisy present here, there is a larger problem at work. The "everyone is a winner" mindset that I unfortunately grew up surrounded by has now given way to the "everyone is beautiful (except beautiful people because that's sexist)" worldview. While I strongly agree that nobody should be made to feel bad about their physical appearance, and that everyone should learn to be comfortable with the bodies they were born in, it is a matter of extreme foolishness to suggest that everything is equal in regards to beauty and to believe that there is something wrong with admiring the beauty of those who have been blessed with it.

Beauty is amongst the most fundamental of perceptual experiences through which humans gain satisfaction and emotional well-being. Beauty can be found in a landscape, in a phenomenon of weather, in a painting or a sculpture, a song, a dance, in any work of art or even a machine. Of course, beauty can also be found in a man or a woman, whether it be through physical appearance or the substance of their soul. Anyone who denies the importance of beauty in our lives is in turn denying their own biology. There is nothing wrong with admiring beauty, and I might say instead that there is everything right with it. But there are those who seek to demonize appreciating beauty, and automatically disregard it as a vulgar indulgence that one should feel ashamed about (except of course when it concerns themselves). I cannot stress enough how much I disagree with these people.

Like many here, I believe that Alizée is physically an incredibly beautiful woman. That belief does nothing to diminish the legitimacy of my support as a fan towards her, no more than admiring the beauty of her music, her dancing, or her personality would. The truth is that she is a beautiful person in so many ways, which is what makes her stand out so clearly to me amongst others.

Alright, that's enough philosophical rambling for one day. Here's a beautiful picture of Alizée that you're not allowed to feel guilty about enjoying. ;) http://i.imgur.com/BU9sRIG.jpg

She almost fell to the floor with those high heels. :D

Her dancing ability has always amazed me. I've often wondered if some of it is natural ability she was born with or is it just due to all the years of training that she devoted herself to?

As much as I miss her singing and dancing to her own music, I still get so much enjoyment out of her just dancing. La Gitaine was awesome, then the part where danced solo in "Video Games" was something I could watch all day.

It must be incredibly difficult to dance with such a long heel the term for I guess is stilletto.

As a mechanic, I'm amazed at how strong those heels are. Are they made of carbon fiber. I wonder if heel fatigue as opposed to metal fatigue sets in after so many dances. As an aircraft is limited to so many "cycles" are heels limited to so many dances?

Video games solo starting at 1:11

Shows how tiny changes alters the looks of a person completely, she really hit the beauty jackpot spot on.

This is actually a Jukebox video I came across that I hadn't seen before. It's when the song Moi Lolita was performed during Les Enfoires in 2002. Though Alizee was in the show, as is usually the case with most songs they use, the singer of that song can't participate I'm guessing because it would look like a charity show was promoting her. Still she can be seen off to the side at 1:05 and 3:07. Unfortunately the video quality isn't that good.

Yeah, but Alizée's JEAM performances are many and not just this one. Secondly, since establishment of the youtube those many JEAM performances were uploaded many times at many youtube channels, and if you want accurate number of youtube views you should count all of them, and that to be honest is a difficult task to accomplish. :13:

This is the most descriptive comment I've heard Alizee make about Mylene Farmer. It appears that Alizee and Mylene had very different ideas about performances. I suspect Alizee's ideas were less flamboyant than MF's. I can't help thinking that if our girl had stayed with MF, she would have become a bigger star and would still be singing today. Now she seems to have dropped off the map completely. I think about the drab costuming and staging of the Blonde album. I don't think MF would have gone there. But life is a gamble, and Alizee had to follow her own destiny.

Scruffydog777

As much as I loved the music of LB and the songs of MF, I think the biggest thing she lost in the break up was the management. The talent and the beauty was still there. She just couldn't put it all together in a form that was appealing to the public.

I didn't quite know where to put this, so I'll put it here. It concerns Tinkerbell which is a big factor in her life so it's somewhat related.

I was watching some Youtube videos the other day and I saw this one and when it first started I thought "Tinkerbell!" (I think it's Tinkerbell). What a great gift this would make for Alizée! Then as the video went along it became Nooooooooooo!

Yes I have to believe that no one could have the same charm, the same beauty of dance, of person, that je ne sais quoi that Alizée brought to that role. Many will try in the future, but I'm sure that 100 years from now when people hear the word "Lolita" the picture that comes into their minds will that of Alizée.

That je-ne-sais-quoi as you said it so well, resulted I believe from an extraordinary chain of events that culminated when coincidences created a nexus of perfection at the meeting point of Mylène Farmer's genius , Alizée Jacotey's talent and Laurent Boutonnat's music

I often referred to the combination of Alizée, MF and LB as a dream team. I'm not sure if Europeans are familiar with that term so it's when you take all the top players in a league, i.e. basketball, hockey and put them on one team to play against maybe teams from another country. It's usually an unbeatable combination.

Now that hasn't always worked out, sometimes because of egos, personality conflicts or just the fact they're not used to playing with one another. But with the three of them, it was a perfect fit. The great music of Boutonnant, the lyrics of Farmer and beautiful voice of Alizée and her incredible charm and dancing and it was also the great managing/directing skills of I have to feel it was both MF and LB to put this all together in a manner we'll never forget.

Right on, this was the Triad of perfection. Even looking back at France Gall and Gainsbourg's relationship , which to me is the next best thing , I don't find the same alchemy .

Whenever the nostalgia flows through me again I find myself making mashups of the golden years and I'm always struck by how catchy the songs are , even after having listened to them thousands of times ...

She needs someone to write her really good songs. Nothing she has released since Gourmandises and MCE has been as good as those two, although I do enjoy most of 5 and some songs off Psychedelices and Blonde. Nevertheless, both her image and sound were more developed and unique back then and unless she finds herself a team as good as Farmer and Boutonnat she is not going to reach that level again.
What always saddens me when I see those cheering crowds is how fast they turned their backs on her .... she was an instant hit, she rose to international fame within months... this is still a mystery to me.
It's sad but I think that is how it works in the pop world. Stars come and go faster than elsewhere. On the bright side, Alizee still has a sort of a "cult following", there are many people who recognise her for the awesome person that she is.

She had a run of 16 years; thats a long time in the entertainment business. And yes she hangs onto her cult for the awesome person that she is. Even if she never has another block-buster, I would love to see her sing again.

I think Blonde had a chance of being a success, but it faced two problems. First, she didn't have a team any where's near as capable of taking the good songs she had and developing them into entertaining promotions, videos or concerts. In fact her team failed dismally.

Her second problem now is since she's left MF/LB, she's developed a pattern of quite frankly, failures. If MF were to put out an album without letting anyone hear in advance a song on it or even a snippet, it would probably be a very good financial success, just because of her reputation. Where as if Alizee came out with an album worthy of success, it has to be even better than that to overcome the way she's disappointed people who know what she is capable of.

Of course, part of her initial charm was down to her age and looks. She isn't quite 16 or 18 anymore so naturally it is harder for her to stick out in a vast sea of singers. She could still be successful if she worked hard with a good team but her biggest attraction has always been her looks, moves etc, rather than raw talent. There are so many better singers than her but the majority lack the charm and the stunning effect Alizee has on her listeners. With that said, she is not going to achieve success by releasing songs that any half-decent pop artist could release, and discarding everything that once made the young Alizee famous (Blonde is the best example of this). Over the years, I feel like in addition to the music her very style has suffered and it's difficult these days to distinguish her from other artists/celebrities. She had a very distinctive style during the Gourmandises-MCE era. Besides, I may be the only one who feels this way but she seemed more confident back in the day and had more of an I-know-what-I'm-doing appearance.
Don't get me wrong, I love all things Alizee, but it's been a long time since she had the whole package: songs, looks, charm and so on.

Well her age and looks had a lot to do with it at the time, but there are plenty of young girls who came along, such as Lorrie and Jenifer, who because of their looks and charm, had success. I have to admit that part of her success was the fact that MF put this young lady with the girl next door looks, into such a sexual role, but one of the things we've learned to love about her is as incredibly sexy as she was, is she rebelled against this role. We found out the things she loved in life were Corsica, her family and her close freinds. The things that would've caused us to stop following some other singer, kept us following her.
She did seem more confident years ago, and that lack of confidence has so many reasons behind it. The potential is still there. We just need someone to bring the cream to the top!

I don't know how I ran across this video. I have never seen it before. Alizee is only shown right at the end, and it is just a picture of her and Gregoire. She has obviously been crying, but they don't look like tears of sadness, but rather she was emotionally moved by something. I think somehow it ties in with the main topic of the video.

I really like the photo because it looks like a real life candid photo, not like when she is in a photo shoot or doing an interview. She is absolutely gorgeous. I just want to reach out and hug her!

By the way, the video is interesting and the song is great. Worth the watch in my opinion.

Thanks for uploading Scruffy. I did not get a chance to download it until now.

I guess here is a good a place as any to post some of my thoughts about Gregoire. I didn't think much about him before other than he was a dancer and the new guy in Alizee's life. As I watch more of his interactions with Alizee, especially those when they first met, I am super impressed with him. Alizee was quite a broken person after her divorce and she was still in love with Jeremy. Gregoire has been and is so patient and kind to her. Alizee is a very emotional woman and I think his calmness and even-keel is a stabilizing presence in her life. Plus, he seems to understand that he is #2 in her life behind Annily, at least near term. He won the prize and he deserves her.

He seems to be a genuinely good natured guy. It's not just an act he puts on in the studio. I guess his patience comes from working for years in a dance studio. I don't think I've ever seen a mad look on him. I think this is the closest when Alizée was mad at him.....

I believe the photo of Alizee in tears was taken when Greg accompanied her to a restaurant. He gave her a drawing by Annily that expressed love for her mother, and Alizee got teary-eyed. I've been trying to find that video but without luck.

We had been discussing beautiful women, and I had made the point that it was impossible to say that this or that woman was the most beautiful. As fond of Alizee as I am, I don't think she is the most beautiful. As an example I offer the young lady in the video below:

Agreed. This woman is beautiful. But the most beautiful? Maybe to some. More beautiful than Alizee? I'm sure there are many who would agree, but I am not one of them.

Attractiveness is so subjective, and women get the short straw. From a biological perspective, physical attractiveness in women is tied to estrogen levels (the higher the level the more attractive they are) which unsurprisingly correlates to fertility. In short, women peak before 30. Men have it pretty good in contrast:

Wrinkes
Men: Rugged
Women: Old

Gray Hair
Men: Distinguished
Women: Old

Excess Body Weight
Men: Love Handles
Women: Fat

Alizee at one point, if I just considered merely the physical traits of her and nothing else, was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Add to that her charms, her quirks, personality traits, and everything else that I consider endearing, and she keeps that title even as she ages.

Here is one picture of Amber Heard in a stunning photo. One could argue that at this point in time, Amber was more beautiful than Alizee ever was. But Amber doesn't look this good anymore. Beauty can be so fleeting.

Scruffydog777

The break up of their friendship seemed to have something to do with an album Jenifer came out with. Here's a story I found on the subject with the translation. I guess it was an album of 'cover songs', (something I don't fully understand) of France Gall. I knew at the time Alizee was critical of her, but I didn't realize that as this article says, France Gall was critical of her too. But in my 11 years of following Alizee, I don't think I've ever seen her be critical of
anyone, except maybe was it her 7th grade English teacher? So this was a surprise to me anyways.

Jenifer has performed a number of times in Corsica. Wikipedia says this about her mother, "Her mother is part Corsican-Italian and part Belgian. She comes from a modest background. She participated in the Graines de star television broadcast in 1997, but this was a failure.".

Another article said these things about Jenifer.....
"She was born in Nice (just a ferry ride away from Corsica)........Jenifer's maternal grandmother initiated her in the art of Corsican polyphonic msic............In 1993, Jenifer got to support C. Jerome in concert when the latter performed at a Bastille day fireman's ball in Corsica. "
So I'm sure she's held a few concerts in Corsica and I know she's been in the Marie Do fund raising events ther so I think she too feels strongly about her Corsican ancestry.
By the way, Marie-Do is the name of an association that raises money for cancer research, it's victims and their families. It was formed in honor of Marie-Dominique Versini, an employee of Air Corsica who died of breast cancer at the age of 35.

"JENIFER: TACKLED BY ALIZÉE ON HER COVER ALBUM!THIS ITEM HAS BEEN VIEWED 7 862 TIMES

Since the announcement of the release of her latest album composed only of covers, Jenifer has been heavily criticized, especially by the one to whom she wanted to pay tribute, France Gall. So that it does not wish to hear about the album "My statement " , Alizee has unfortunately not private to tackle the juror of The Voice on the subject!

Alizée, who has just reacted to the bad sales of her latest album "Blonde" , may not be the best person to criticize other people's albums, yet!

The pretty blonde did not hesitate to give his opinion on the album Jenifer, a tribute missed by France Gall . Indeed, during an interview, Alizée confided that it was really not a very good idea:

There are occasions in every direction. And the covers are good to have fun on stage, but a whole album, no. "

Moreover, after her victory in Danse avec les Stars , Alizée was also offered a cover album . She says:

The theme was not stopped, there were songs from the '80s and' 90s but it was not at all what I wanted to do.

While Jenifer had responded to France Gall's attacks with sadness , the young woman was still able to count on the support of Elodie Frégé but obviously not on that of Alizée. Indeed, during this same interview, the pretty blonde explained that for her a tribute did not go to a living person :

What disturbs me is that to make an album of covers in tribute to an artist still alive ... It bothers me a little ... "

Certainly, given all that poor Jenifer has taken in the figure compared to this covers album, no doubt she will never retest the experience!"

Here is a prank call Alizée made to Jenifer when she was on a radio show being interviewed;

Seems a little petty to me... but obviously not to them. Do you think Alizee was so critical on this because she idolized France Gall?

I like Jenifer, and it was obvious they had a close friendship. Hopefully one day they can reconcile.

Scruffydog777

I don't think so. I thought at first, it might be because Alizée had plans of doing something along the same lines and maybe Jenifer stole her idea, but now I think maybe it's because the album was too much France Gall and not enough Jenifer, if you know what I mean.

Alizée fan since I was 13 years old, I knew Alizée the singer of the famous tube MOI LOLITA, 15 years ago and I continue to follow her, I loved more than all the dance and I had I want to learn her choreography to perfection, I did not arrive but I get closer to it, so I wanted to pay tribute to her career and make her more of the public she have not already, through me singing his songs and dancing.

I do not consider myself a look-alike because I do not really look exactly like her for a show.

Here is one of the videos to film during one of the shows in which I participated.
This video dates from last year, after having had a great deal of sight on my personal account fb, I was asked to publish it on youtube many times but I had not done it yet, it's done to present.

Tell me in comment if you like! Kisses and thank you for watching my video!

Stefany does a great job! It was a little humorous on the JPVA dance, since she has longer hair than Alizee, when she flips her hair from side to side, she has to end it off by taking her hand and flipping her hair back so it's not in her face. She does it like it's part of the dance move and you hardly notice it.

This clip of Alizee in the 2008 LE lifted my mood today. Killer smile at 1:56

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0_zO33qDbw

A few other observations on this video.

Alizee gets a nice applause at 0:26 when she starts singing (even though the camera doesn't show her). None of the others get the same kind of applause.

At 2:52, I cannot make out what is being said, but it looks like one or more people are yelling something at Alizee out of the audience, which causes her to smile and look back, then look back again with Jenifer.

I think the whole 'Blonde' gimmick was a terrrible mistake. She had just won DALS a couple months earlier and was at a relative peak of public recognition. I think it confused everyone.

Sort of like when she came out with Psychedelices. While I am all for her doing whatever she wants, how she wants, I think it strayed too far from what people were looking for.

In addition, she chose the wrong color of blonde. :D

I stumbled across this interview video today. It's a very high quality video.

The description translates to this by Google:

Alizée in interview for the film Tink and the Legendary Creature, in which she doubles the voice of Fairy Nyx.

Obviously "Tink" should be Tinkerbell.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGDoFQOcjSA&t=136s

I had to do some research on this cartoon movie. There is an English version put out by Disney, but the credits do not include Alizee, so there must have been a French version.

First I needed to know what Fairy Nyx looked like.

Then I found this video which shows some scenes of the movie. Apparently Lorie was in it as well, which is a bonus :)

Good find CleverCowboy. I'm guessing what you said here is there is an English version with the same video, but they used someone who speaks English for the voice over. If it's the exact same video, we could download the English transcript and add it to the French version. We probably couldn't share it publicly where it's a Disney clip, but there is probably a way anyone here who wanted to see it could view it. Maybe we could legally add it to the French one?

That's exactly why I hate when she has to sing her songs with these unknown singers. The problem is that during these performances they usually sing live... This means that those ''singers'' ruin one of the few times that Alizée sings without playback. And that's a pity :(

The only duet of her songs that I like is this one, even though it is just a parody:

Another video by Robert Rhein.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1VHeoOkESM

I've been acquainted with Rob about 9 years now I think it is. We've talked several times over the phone over the years. He told me about how he was an assistant manager at a hardware store and had lost his job back then. He was able to get a job painting, often outside in the hot Florida sun. He often shared a place with others. He could hardly afford a computer and knew little about how to operate one. He'd get a job here or there, sometimes taken advantage of by the people he worked for. He was truely down on his luck.

Then one day, a little French girl stepped into his life as it did with all of us and his life was changed forever. He once again had something to live for. He worked hard at his job and as far as Alizee, he worked even harder. He set a goal of putting together 1,000 Alizee videos.

As you can see, now he's very adept at putting together videos with skills much better than mine, though I've used very capable computers for many years.

Last year, when I went to the Dance studio, I asked that one of the pictures I brought to be autographed for Rob.

Bravo Rob!

I would think it has something to do with the video where she's lying in bed in her pjs, probably barefoot though I'm not sure if it ever shows her feet, while she's in bed and once she's out in the field, with all those middle linebackers, dressed as living dolls, she is wearing slippers or something.

So I think having her wearing something like nikes or talons aiguilles or any other type of shoe would take away from the image the performance was trying to convey.

Did she not expect that the camera was already focused on her, was she just bored? I would like to know what's going on through her head. What do you think?

She did seem absorbed in whatever she was looking at. Maybe she was admiring the Gucci purse of someone in the audience?

Maybe she was asking herself "Why did I leave Mylene?".

Maybe she was wondering "Did I leave the iron on?".

Kidding aside, she did seem absorbed in watching the video of herself and the audience's applause snapped her out of it.

You have to look at the timing of this video. From Youtube, I believe the show this was on was aired in March of 2013, but was it filmed earlier than that? Her appearance in Les Enfoires in that year happened in January. It was after that when she went back to Ajaccio instead of returning to Paris to be with Jeremy, that we learned of their separation. Then I believe 5 came out in March. So there had to be a mountain of thoughts going through her mind.

Was she looking as the video played, thinking " Why was everything with MF/LB so easy and everything else, has been a struggle?".

She was to appear in Dals later that year. Did she already receive that invitation and wondering if that was the way to go?

It's hard to say what she was thinking, but as I said, there had to be a lot going through her mind that night.

Edit:

Another thing I just remembered. In that year's Les Enfoires show, she had appeared with Matt Pokora. They had been seen together on a few occasions after that and apparently it didn't go well. I'm quite sure it was after this she said she was going to focus her life on raising Annilly and giving up on dating.

So much had to be going through her mind.

I have never seen this video before and don't remember any performance where at the end all the women were in white gowns. I also wonder about the flowers. Because the bouquets appear identical they must have been selling them in the theater lobby. I would love to know what Alizee thinks about the adoration of her fans. If she has noticed they are more enamored of her than the fans of other entertainers. Or if she takes it for granted that, that's just the way it is for pop stars.

At the 2:30 mark someone throws their bouquet at Alizee who is walking away. The toss could be interpreted negatively, but I think it more likely a "Hey, don't forget me." Or the last desperate attempt to deliver the flower. Sadly, Alizee didn't see it. :o

Edit:

Wow! What an analysis. I said it before, but I'll say it again. It's as though you have a doctoral degree in Alizee.

Actually I meant how that situation made her laugh so much that she didn't manage to keep singing. First, the intonation of her voice changes because I suppose she was trying to hold it back, but then she bursts into laughter and finally that cute "muchas gracias".

Moreover you can notice that during this performance she is speaking three languages fluently :P

When I watched this video, I noticed something. When the Moi Lolita video clip was over, she seemed to be absent (lost in thought) for a moment and then she smiled. Her expression was somehow sad. Did she not expect that the camera was already focused on her, was she just bored? I would like to know what's going on through her head. What do you think?

She said--- I think it was in S.A.G.A.--- that she is uncomfortable watching video of herself.

So I would guess that its her shyness: she feels extremely self-conscious when video of herself is played in the presence of others.

I'm quite shy--- in certain respects--- and having video of myself played in front of others would bother me. Feelings of being "exposed" in front of everyone, my soul being laid bare, etc. It depends on the situation, but it can really hurt.

I'm 100% certain its her shyness, that's what you are seeing in the video.

I was wondering if Alizée has ever made a Christmas song, so... Apparently yes :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaM-T8ZVskU&feature=youtu.be
(She starts singing at 0:53)

Unfortunately it is not just her, but at least the title of the video made the research easier. The song is nice.

I think Alizée is the kind of person that would be perfect to sing a Christmas song: she is sunny, kind, friendly with kids and her voice is delicate and comforting. It would be nice if she made a new song and became as those singers whose songs are everywhere during this period.

I get notifications on a regular basis of people either commenting on one of my Youtube videos or subscribing to my YT channel on my Comcast e-mail account. Now though it's not a flood of people, it's been fairly constant for years and I have to believe a lot of it is new people discovering Alizee and searching for more content.

I very seldom add to what's in that account because I use her music for the audio and they've gotten a lot tougher on cracking down on copyright violations and I certainly don't want to risk having that channel taken down.

I did a little snooping around.

For this YouTube channel, in the About section, it has a single link, which is to the Alizée Updates FaceBook account. This is the same owner as the alizee.updates Instagram account, which I follow. In the IG profile, it has a link back to the same FB page, so I'm certain it is the same owner. It also says it is followed by @alizeeofficiel. Alizée does not follow fan accounts indiscriminately, so there must be some kind of relationship there. She follows ske_lton as well.

I see. Actually, there is also an YT channel called Alizée updates but it has few videos and the most recent one is 5 years old. I guess it was a secondary channel...

Yeah, I noticed that. I wonder how Alizée updates was born and became so popular and apparently close to Alizée. Now they only share a photo every now and then without saying anything, so there isn't much to examine :coffee:

Edit:

She follows ske_lton as well.

Skeleton seems to be "just" one of her greatest fan, who somehow managed to know her and keeps in touch with her. But Alizée updates gives that impression of "official fan club"...

Skeleton is a member of this forum but he has not posted since I became a member. I think he joined around 2013 when Alizee started DALS. I've never exchanged any posts with him and don't know a lot about his history, but he started following her dancing career primarily. He is also French. I remember seeing a photo of him at the dance studio posting with Alizee and Greg and he was holding one of Alizee's outfits from her early days. He also posted on this forum that he ran into Alizee and Greg at a hotel lobby after one of the DALS shows and they chatted for about ten minutes. It looks like a somewhat informal friendship was formed between him and A&G. He has some great videos of DALS in 4K UHD on his YouTube channel.

By the number of pictures on the Alizee Updates IG account, he (or she) has been a fan for a long time. He/she might be somebody Alizee grew up with. Following people that posts pictures of her is not Alizee's style, so there looks to be some friendship element that exists before this would happen.

I don't know if you have ever noticed it, but Skeleton was even part of the "staff" of the concert in Warsaw. There was a sort of choreography for the song Blonde and he was one of the "dancers". You can see it from his Instagram stories

I don't know if he is a dancer, but I think it was just an improvised thing, because there were 5 or 6 men dancing behind her and they were all wearing normal clothes. But I don't know where to find a video of it... If I remember correctly, Blonde was not among the songs that could be filmed by fans, so everything I know about that come from Skeleton's IG account.

I exchanged several messages with Ske Leton when he first came on the scene in 2013. I don't think he'd mind me sharing 'some' information in here.

First he takes that name for a type of sledding he used to do, similar to luge but I think you face forward in his sport.

He's married with kids and lived outside of France for numerous years before moving back in 2006.

He had been in France in 2003 and was at the event in Paris when Alizee sang JPVA in front of the Eiffel tower but he didn't remember seeing her. He said he discovered her in 2013 but it looks like he caught up in a hurry.

What do you think of this performance? Is this way of singing fit for Alizée? Alcaline is similar to this song from this point of view...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWorJ1dMzwQ&feature=youtu.be

Moreover, I've noticed that, after leaving MF, she has showed a certain tendency to sing with a more delicate timbre of voice in live performances. I usually see that in Les enfoires videos. Do you think it is an actual choice she made or does she simply feel more comfortable in singing this way?
(obviously Adelaide is an extreme case of that so I'm not referring to it here)

That brings up an interesting point. I think it was during the 1st week of Dals, she said she couldn't shout during a performance I guess, yet she had no trouble shouting in En Concert. I think maybe she lost confidence in herself after leaving MF. I think one of the best songs I heard her sing post Mylene is Tal's "Le sens de la vie", which is sung in a soft way and was perfect for her.

This is exactly was I was talking about and this isn't the only time she has sung this way.

I think maybe she lost confidence in herself after leaving MF.
I was thinking that this tone of voice might be the closest one to her personality. Sometimes she uses this soft voice even when she is speaking in a standard conversation. But honestly I don't know if it's because of her shyness or because of her kindness. So it could also be a matter of confidence, I guess.
But this tone of voice doesn't seem to be the natural evolution of the one she had during Graines de stars. She seems to be a different singer. I wonder if it is natural for her to sing in this way... The last performance in Jaka to melodia seems pretty standard in this sense.

Scruffydog777
03-10-2020, 02:05 PM
It was amazing that in Graines de Stars that though in the first competition, she wanted to enter the dancing instead of the singing competition, in the shows that followed, she sang with such confidence. She was so comfortable on stage.

Then an amazing performance of ML in Amsterdam, in front of such a huge foreign crowd, again she danced with such confidence.

Yet offstage, she was shy and soft spoken, a different person it seemed

Somewhere along the line, she lost the confidence she had on stage.

Yeah, she was fantastic! :**:
But I wouldn't say she lost the confidence she had back then... In Warsaw she seemed very comfortable on the stage. I would say she changed her attitude. But I don't know if this "artistic" change is due to personal reasons...

There is something about En Concert and Amsterdam that enables Alizee to turn off her shyness--- like flipping a switch in her mind. Whereas with DALS, its not quite the same. Its psychological, its just how Alizee's mind works-- it has nothing to do with leaving Mylene, in my opinion.

Maybe it's because she feeds off the crowd? In Dals though she seemed to have a lot of fans rooting for her, she always had the uncertainty of "What were the judges thinking?" hanging over her head and that uncertainty couldn't allow her to have the full confidence such as she had in Amsterdam and En Concert.

I stumbled on this peculiar YouTube video of Alizee's Poland performance last night. I had never seen it before. For some reason, after the announcers introduced Alizee, it took her forever to get out on the stage. Generally, she impresses me as being attentive to being professional, but in this video, everyone looks bad. The announcers explained the problem, but I don't speak Polish, so I don't know what went wrong. Perhaps someone from Poland can explain. :wait:

Alizee looks a tad pregnant (she also looks like a little girl performing. It's hard not to love her), it starts to rain during her performance, the smoke machine on one occasion made her nearly disappear, some guy was running around on the stage behind Alizee during her performance, and the sound system is not the best. Despite these problems, Alizee is as charming as ever.

Alizée - 2003.11.15. - Interview - Fande - Alizée, La Métamorphose (M6)-With English subtitles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb-vVdx4p1A

Thanks again joebanana!

Interesting what it says at about the 3:00 mark.

Surely Alizée has changed. but not to the point of being fed up wih her musical parents.

Clearly, for her there's no question of turning to other writers and composers.

"For now, it's not in the program. But, for now, I'm working with them.
It's going so well that I find it hard to imagine all that it could be better with someone else."

In short, one can count on the illustrious trio for many other songs, for the great joy of the little ones and the big ones as well.

The video was posted November 15,2013, so it was probably filmed around the beginning of that month.

It "sounds" like all was well between the three. If it was, things must've gone south rather quickly.

Where do the clips around 1:20 come from? Are there more or is this interview the real source?

By the way, nice interview, thanks, JoeBanana!

I don't know is that part originally from the interview or is a separate promo video for J'en ai marrie.
I'd like to know too, it looks fun.

You are doing great work, joebanana. :thumb:

I found it interesting when Alizee says:

To expose my daily life to the public eye such as when I eat, take a walk, or do things of the kind, well... It makes me feel that I am robbed of something that's part of me.

It's no secret that Alizee is a private person and a lot of fans take it personally, but she makes a good case for it here.

I’m just having a good time with it and trying to spice things up a bit. I use Davinci Resolve 16 to work on that.

I was going through my Alizee photo collection for interesting pictures to post to IG, and I came across one of Alizee and Annily, where Annily looked to be maybe seven or eight years old. She was wearing a yellow costume and had her face painted and hair pulled back tight. One might think it was her Halloween costume, but I had seen this before, but didn't know where. Then it dawned on me a few days later.

I ran across a video a few years ago that had Alizee's name on it, but she only appeared as a picture during the last 30 seconds of it. The picture was taken at the restaurant during DALS when Greg surprised her with that piece of paper with Annily writings all over it and a voice recording from her. Alizee starts to cry, and the picture in this video was taken at some point during that setting because she still has a tear in her eye.

Until that point, it was scenes of a kids getting ready to put on a play for an audience, and performing it. The song is a very good song, but I could not put 2+2 together as to the message (if any).

So when I found the picture, it made sense. :thumb:

Annily was part of a play in Ajaccio. You can see her several times between 0:39 and 0:50. All scenes were taken by Alizee and the video was apparently produced by Alizee.

Ricordu is the name of the song by Bande à part (translated Band of Outlaws). They are a local band from Ajaccio, and from what I had found, Alizee is a big fan of theirs.

The word "Souvenir" appears in the video title, translated to "Memory". So Annily performing in this play was obviously a fond memory of Alizee, and she put this together to reminisce. The picture of herself at the end of the video with a tear in her eye after receiving a message from Annily now makes sense as to why it appears here.

The message at the beginning of the video translates to:

Dancing is like speaking in silence.
It says a lot without speaking a word.

So anyway, enough of me talking. Here is the video in case you never saw it.

There were at least a couple important people in Alizée's life in this video. There is the dancer with 2 first names, Pierre Antoine. I think it's no secret he's gay, not that it matters. He first appears at the :25 mark.

I don't know how far they go back, but after Alizée, moved back to Ajaccio, they were the closest of friends and just about every week we'd see the two post a picture from a club, a restaurant, the beach, etc. It was around this time he opened up his own dance school and remembering how Alizée mentioned she would like to have a dance school someday, it surprised me they didn't do it together. She wasn't busy at the time, though that was soon to change.

I wonder if the occasion of this video might have been Pierre Antoine's school first gala.

The other big player in this video is MADAME MONIQUE MUFRAGGI who first appears at the :52 mark. It was at her school that Alizée learned to dance. I believe it was about 2 years ago she decided to retire and I think the school was closed down.

I wonder if she is so glad one of her students was so successful and brought back her success to continue on teaching dance. There's a comfy sense of continuity there I think :)

I would think she'd be very proud and I'd think the people of Corsica would be very proud that a Corsican woman won this and the fact that during the shows, she made no secret of where she was from.

I think thee was a video for when she arrived at the airport or was it the ship terminal?

At the end she says "No, it is impossible in the US", which makes this interview very interesting!
I think she is explaining why she didn't sing there, but that's everything I can understand. :/

Corrrect me if I'm wrong, but I believe there were 4 different parts to this interview and subtitles were provided by who I'm not sure for all four, but it seems that section where she talks about the U.S. was left out. If that's true......why?

I had a young lady who used to live in Paris do a bunch of translations for me such as Dals and Saga. I think I asked her about this part, but I'll have to look through my files.

I was going to post when they appeared in this video, but that would take too much time for a post that already will take a while, so I'll just post the names of faces I recognized, along with the "other" performance I recognize them from;

In this great imo performance of Dernier Danse in 2015, there were 4 female singers who took part in it. Of these 4, 3 were in this tribute video.

Zazie, Claire Keim, Liane Foly, then Natasha St-Pier performed Dernier Danse in that order. Zazie was first and I thought did a good job, Claire was not in the tribute video but did an awesome job with the L E song. Here's a youtube link to the song but it's a fan video and doesn't do it justice.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unlf8Mha2Xc

Another L E performance I remember Foley for was "Toi et Moi";

Pascal Obispo has appeared in Les Enfoires a number of times. Here's a video taken by Jenny.

In this L E show, Alizee steals his hat,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJFxcj-0Jxs

Nikos Aliagas
I guess his official roll has been as an emcee. He's met Alizee on a number of occasions;

3055

Marie-Claude Pietragalla who was a famous dancer in France and one of the judges in Dals.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3tf8MiuffI

Titoff from Dals who at the 1:06:00 mark I thought made an ass of himself and wouldn't shut up during Alizee's moment.

Oh, wow... Actually my question was ironic and I was just referring to Alizée.:sstruck: I didn't want to make you spend a lot of time on this post.
But, I have to say that I'm "glad" you did because I didn't know some of the videos you posted, so I appreciate this little extract of your personal Alizée encyclopedia. :p
Thank you as always! :hatsoff:

Edit:

By the way, I have been lately interested in Alizée's Les enfoires appearances and now I understand why some of you guys want her to be in the show again (I mean apart from the fact that now any public exhibition of Alizée would be a great thing). She feels very comfortable on that stage and it's fun to see her playful nature among other people.

Les Enfoires was like a whole other chapter of Alizee's career. Of course my focus is Alizee, but there is a lot of other talented performers in the shows. The music is not all French, and there are a number of songs with Alizee singing in English with that cute French accent.

Les Enfoires 2008 is probably my favorite. It was a high energy show with a young and playful Alizee. Taking videos by phone was not widespread at that time, so there was a lot of audience participation. Celine Dion was a performer that year, the only year she participated in the 2000's. Another guest was Karen Mulder, a French Victoria's Secret runway model of the 90's. Many English songs sung that year.

A close second was 2013. Alizee had that wavy black hair and she was just gorgeous. She also had a lot of stage time in that show, probably the most compared to others. Then comes 2011.

Those are my top three, with special mention given to LE 2012. :)
