I was thinking, we already have our own DJ ... why not start an Alizée podcast? Just think, if it becomes popular .. maybe when Lili comes back we can actually interview her :D

we have everything we need ...

- someone with radio experience (greg)
- someone who speaks French (aFrenchie / garconcanadien)
- someone who knows everything about Lili (RMJ / Snatcher)
- someone with webhosting and editing software (me)
- something to talk about (Alizée)

just throwing this idea out there. i think i could edit it and make it sound very professional, but the hardest part is getting on a schedule to release new episodes on a regular basis (i was thinking 2 times a month)

first thing we need are some people with good radio voices to be available to host it :D

its like an internet radio show ..

we could follow a segment format, like a 30 - 45 mins

part 1 - alizee news / rumors
part 2 - alizee trivia or some type of interview / discussion.
part 3 - call in segment (people can call in a leave a message about alizee to be included on the show)

The problem is that you need to have stuff to talk about. I guess you might want to wait until the release of the new album comes closer before you debut the show so that you can have a news segment. Reviewing old songs and albums is great, but I think you should aim to have some fresh content for every new episode. Still, I think it's a cool idea and it's definitely worth exploring the idea.

Hah hah, that Ask A Ninja vid is a classic! :)

You can add my name to the first and fourth items as well. I worked as a host and DJ at my college's radio station, and did some professional audio and video editing when I worked at a television station in NYC (still have the software).

What kind of software were you planning to use? Something like Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)???

perfect snatcher!

i have a lot of good ideas, i was thinking like 2 or 3 main hosts (snatcher and afrenchie?? .. lol) and then have a few other reliable people that speak other languages (spanish, german, italian, etc) that can translate phone calls / emails on the show.

be awesome to get a french girl on there as a possible third host .. that would be ideal :)

jacoplane has a good point about no new material. but i think there is plenty to discuss (40 mins a month) and get on a schedule so when she does come back we are able to keep things rolling out consistantly.

everyone throw out your suggestions, i think this is a good idea. i am sure there are a lot of people that would like to leave a message through email / voice for alizee ... since we would be the only Alizée podcast, there is a great chance she would hear it one day.

An easy way to allow people to leave messages is to set up a skype account with voicemail (http://www.skype.com/products/skypevoicemail/). Then people just need skype and they can dial in and leave a message. Actually for skype voicemail you need to pay a small fee, but there are free alternatives like Gizmo (http://www.gizmoproject.com)that have free voicemail.

Sounds like a nice idea.

And yea, Snatcher is good host if he is willing to do part of it. I listened his radio shows back when he still did them and he is really smooth talking. :)

I can help, too, if needed anywhere. Also capable of video editing and processing. Tho, mostly I just do HQ stuff but I guess I can do an exceptions. :)

i registered some domains today in case we ever want to get this going.

Snatcher, if you are interested would you like to plan on getting something started when you get back from Paris? It would be really nice if we could get a French speaker on there too.

We got a lot of time to talk about different ideas .. and debate whether or not it is worth while.

That should be fun, and it's better than someone opening up a sig battle thread.

So these should work on any other MP3/4 not just iPods right - like Sansa or Creative?

I think this idea, though a little untimely now as far as this thread goes, sounds fun. Just today I downloaded some podcasting software and made little test runs with straight audio and faded-in music. I plan on making my own little podcast when I play with it some more, just for friends and stuff, but I will definitely be talking about/playing Alizée a lot (except if there are legal issues?). It's fun pretending to be a dj. Anyway, if you guys have the time you should definitely bring this idea to life again.

If I were to do a test-run podcast about Alizée to share here, would I need permission from Brad to base it off this site? Like, say, a show geared toward members about the latest discussions, polls, new members, old threads etc.? I'm thinking of putting one together, but I won't post it anywhere if that's a no-no. What do you all think?

I think they left this idea a long time ago.

Maybe they did, but why should that stop Ciarac if she wants to do it. I think it sounds like a pretty neat idea, although I don't know about any of the legal issues regarding the site and the playing of Alizée's music.

I would say go for it, you could probably get members from the site to help you out as well. It would be nice for you to have a couple people to talk to and discuss stuff with as well (unless you already got people there may be forum members up for it), it would make the show more interesting. Depending on times I might be up for it.

Not sure if coming up with content will be a problem yet or not. I mean you could talk about the different forum stuff, but to get more listening then just forum members you will need to talk mostly about Alizée and not sure how long you could talk about what has been said here on the forums and keep it interesting. Might go over what she is doing right now and then maybe talk about different things she did before now kinda like teaching people about her incase there are listeners who are new to her and her music. I don't know just some idea's.

sorry but i can't help you with the legality part
haven't taken a copyright course
anyway i think technically it would be against the code of professional conduct for me to give you advise if i'm not your lawyer and i don't quite have a license to practice anyway

but i can help out in terms of interviews, discussions, writing material, whatever i can do in my capacity.

as you've seen from my pervious threads i can be rather imaginative :p(and conceited too but hey that's good for show business :D) So let me know if you need anything from me :D

Awesome, thanks for the input everyone. I would love to make it a group effort when I figure some things out. I actually just recorded a really bad, rushed "Alizee America Podcast Beta" to let you all hear as a test. You can find it here, hopefully. It should start automatically:

Whatever you have to dish, I can take. I just may never return here again :o

I think catering to both new and old fans is the main goal. And yeah, if I don't technically have enough of just Alizee content to talk about, well, it's my show and I can say what I want :)

@Tbailey: in order to post on gcast.com, I had to abide by their terms and conditions which probably say I can't submit anyone else's work. Wanna check on that for me, or do you assume that includes the music?

Not bad, you did a good job. Although brief, but of course it was just a test. Your voice was clear which is pretty surprising if this is your first podcast. I think it would turn out really well if you had content for a whole show and some people to help you out, because that would be mean to force everything on you and allow discussion on topics. How would that work though? Would you have to record yourselves over vent or team speak or something like that? Also would you be willing to put it on itunes if you decide to start the show?

As it stands now, I'm really wanting to do this, but there are a few things I need to figure out first. One, the best way to host it. The place I'm using now is pretty bare-minimum, and I want something more interactive and, well, better. I don't know if this means putting it in a blog or what, but something I have to consider. There is one other option I may look into. My friend's friend who has her own internet radio show is willing to let me use her server to have my own show, but it would be live and maybe too complicated for me to do. Don't know about that yet. Two, how to make it a group effort. I like the idea of having more than one person to have some discussion and banter, so I have to research how to talk to other people and record it and whatnot.

So, I'll spend the next few weeks trying to figure these things out. If by that time something more stable isn't running yet, I'll do another ghetto podcast like the first one. Also, I may go ahead and not actually use the name "Alizee America" just so I have some creative leeway and don't turn anyone off who isn't affiliated. I'll still get info and stuff from here and other places, though, and direct people here as well. Sound agreeable? Keep the suggestions and interest coming!

it's being picky and though i know that it's pronounced Ali-zaa i still say Ali-zee b/c it sounds nicer and that's what it looks like :p

I thought I did say it with a "zay" ending like on the homepage of this site and not "zee". If anything I have a tendency to say the first syllable wrong every time I say it. Like sometimes "A-lee-zay" as in apple, or "Ah-lee-zay" as in say "ah" (which looks to be correct anyway). But anyway, I've never heard another English speaker say it in person or anything, so my bad :)

Sometimes the A does sound a bit like in apple when you say it, but I think your pronunciation is pretty close most of the time. What you are missing is the way it sounds when spoken with a French accent. I suppose it's just because of your "American" accent...:)

We can host it here for you, I will set you up a special area if you like. We may host the content (the mp3 files themselves) on something like libsyn, especially if becomes somewhat popular. But short term it will be easy enough to host it all on the server here. and mp3 file is way smaller than a vid file.

hey that was really great job ciarac77. we should get a thread going just to discuss and brainstorm possible content for the podcasts. like others have said, you have a great voice for a podcast.

some possible ideas for podcasts, other than the latest news and grumblings in the alizee world, we can discuss things like:

this day-week-month in alizee history
weekly-montly community polls
post of the week-month
introduce a new member of AAm

anyways, regarding the pronunciation of Alizee, it's probably that americans place emphasis on A, where the french place emphasis on no syllables. the funny thing from all these interviews and performances is that the hosts announce her name differently. especially when she's on a foreign TV show.

Thats how I say it anyway :p

but I think you are perfect for the podcast, love the first one ..

Yeah, I liked what I heard too.

Regarding the pronunciation (let's not get *that* thread started again :p ), my suggestion would be to track down an interview where she says her own name and imitate her pronunciation.

Though it's easy to follow your voice, I think that you'd do well to slow down a little bit, which will allow you to get more air into your lungs without breathing as heavily. It will also help you avoid swallowing so often.

Of course, those issues in listening are mainly caused by the awful microphone that you're using. I understand that what you're using is not yours, but if you plan to get one, then make sure that you get an acceptable one. What's acceptable? Well, this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005A9AU) won't be bad, and this (http://www.zzounds.com/item--SAMQ1UCW) will be good. $35 and $60 respectively.

Yes, I know and noted. Thanks for the links, but the first one was listed for $169.99 and not $35, so could you please resend that link for that one? And is there an advantage over hand-held vs headset?
