I tried to join the DC++ hub, but I seem to be kind of lost. I think I registered correctly and I've tried to contact admins but I haven't got any response. Does anyone know what I've done wrong? Thanks!

it took a day or so before they activated my account. i can't remember now, but did you do the registration thing once you connected the first time?

If you mean the "!regme < password >" thing then yeah, I did that. I've been following the instructions found here (http://www.alizee-forum.com/topic,8523,-dc++-faq:-want-to-download-alizee-videos--read-discuss-here-.html), but not much response so far...

yeah I would say you are good to go then, they just need to activate your account.

Ok, I guess I just need to be patient then.... not my speciality :)

Hmm to be honest, this DC++ method doesn't seem to be a very efficient method of distributing files to the community: it's rather hierarchical and not very newbie-friendly. Perhaps before we think about setting up a podcast we might consider setting up a distributed bittorrent tracker, something like http://www.alhem.net/project/trackerbt/ .... Perhaps we could make registration a requirement, or even upload/download ratios. But it would definitely be better than this DC++ shit. I would be able to host & seed a large number of files, so I think an Alizée America BT tracker could be a success.. No???

yeah a bit-torrent tracker would be a great idea. i am sure Moe would be happy to help out too. I will setup a tracker today or tomorrow, it definitely wouldnt hurt anything.

The thing about a tracker, though, or any P2P for that matter, is that it's best for something where new files are always coming in. With Alizée we've got a pretty constant set of content, and even when she comes back it's only gonna be a video or two every other week or so. Upload to a server is probably the most efficient thing. Like the rapidshare links on AF. Just wish there was an option that didn't expire.

If you'd like to take this idea further, I'd definitelty like to help out. I've been looking around for some links, this is the most helpful one I've found so far: http://www.dessent.net/btfaq/#tracker .... Anyway, let me know if you're seriously considering setting this up :)
