Subtitle workshop is a great free program that lets you add subtitles to a video. It will export the subtitle files in a lot of different formats, so it is easy to merge them with video later on.

I am posting this mainly for aFrenchie, garconcandien, and anyone else who will be translating stuff. The program is really easy to use, and I think it will help you guys out when doing translations. It will also make it really easy for me to merge the subtitles to the video (or anyone who wants to watch the subs over the video).

You guys don't have to use this, but I do think it will make it easier for you once you see how it works, and it will streamline the process for subtitles when Lili comes back :)

check it out if you are interested, I will post a 'how-to' here in a little bit to show people how to use it.

>> Download Subtitle Workshop 2.51 Here (http://www.moi-alizee.us/dl/subtitleworkshop251.zip)

Edit: save the subtitles in SubRip (.srt) format.

Will it export to .swf?

or do you know how to convert movies to .swf

this isnt for exporting video, it is for making the subtitles in a format that can be merged with video later.

But if you want to convert videos to flash / swf the best (free way) is to use RIVA (http://www.rivavx.com/?encoder)

I use a program called Sorenson to do the videos on this website, but it is pretty expensive. RIVA does a really good job though, it just doesnt make the file sizes as small.

does anyone know how

to ask Subtitle Workshop to use Windows Media Player Classic as the default media player? Right now it keeps using Windows Media Player and my payware codec is expired, so it cannot work now.

I've added subtitles to two of Alizee's videos, Hey Amigo and LUO ou Toi and hope to do more. I've added both the french and english subtitles on each video. Is there a way I can post these videos so other people can share them or is that in violation of copyright laws?
Thanks
Dave Hardy

i think you need to send him the subtitles and not the subtitled video because brad has to encode and upload the videos and change the codes himself.

you can upload your videos to youtube or something. or if it is a video i have on this website, just send me the subtitle files and i can place them in the video. our new flash player will read .SRT files.

You can upload it to a file hosting website, like:
http://www.megaupload.com/
http://www.sendspace.com/
http://www.rapidshare.com/
http://www.mediafire.com/

The maximum filesize for Rapidshare and Mediafire is 100 MB, Sendspace 300 MB and Megaupload 500 MB.

You can also ask forum Member Moe (http://moi-alizee.us/forums/member.php?u=155), webmaster of http://www.1alizee.com/ if you can upload to his ftp-server.

read two posts above yours. brad already said he wants just the subtitles since he has all the video and has to re-encode them anyways. all he needs is the subtitle file(s).
