"Ma Déclaration" Unauthorized France Gall Cover album: Could Jenifer go to Court?

Unbelievable news ! :omg:

France Gall is accusing Jenifer of using her songs without her validation... the two women actually didn't talk to each other in years !

Jenifer did everything so quickly that the project was already too advanced to be stopped when France Gall heard about it. The name of France Gall is actually never mentionned on her album and in the tv spot it is referred to as "a tribute to an artist of exception" , that's it ! :fear:

There may be serious consequences to that story .... imo I'm starting to suspect that Alizée may have had the idea of making a cover album first with the authorization of France Gall since she knows her well .. and made the mistake of talking about it to Jenifer who may have been quicker since she's got a far bigger budget for her promotion ...

Now that she's getting too old for this , she's trying to change her public image from the little pinup she used to be to the classy educated women who listens to Michel Berger and France Gall she wants to be.... but she's bad at it .

Thanks Lapinschous. I don't get to hang here as I once did, due to my place of work placing restrictions on everyone's internet usage, but Scruffy told me that you are the man doing a lot of translation to help those of us not able to easily interpret French.

When I do get on, at least to try to keep up as best I can, I am amazed at how Jenifer has changed, and some of the things happening around Alizée!

I am not up totally on all things France Gall, but I have heard some of her work and that of Alizée doing interpretations of Gall's work. I love Alizée's interpretations far better.

Somehow, without having seen the show Ms. Gall is speaking about, I am wondering if maybe Ms. Gall expected a lot more fanfair then was given.

I know that here in the states, as a famous actor gets older and out of the lime-light, years later, some TV shows mention said actor/singer, but unless they are currently famous and really big, the fanfair given these retired actors/singers are usually less then they had hoped would be the case.

Maybe this is the case, somewhat, with France Gall? Or, am I really missing something here, aside from Jenifer taking Alizée's idea and doing it without France Gall's written permission? Or am I mis-interpresting this as well?

She kept trying to increase the sophistication level of her music with each sequential album. Most importantly she continued to distance herself from the Like a Virgin and Material Girl persona she began her career with.

BTW I'm not a Madonna fan but she is very good at what she has done and her business sense of what sells can not be denied with the level of success she has achieved.
