Hi guys. I hope you are having a nice week... :bye:

I was thinking of ways to make the forum more active and make this small community more united (this will be one of the first threads I will create). So, unlike the Introduce Yourself thread, you have to answer the question made by the previous user.

The dynamics of this thread is:

User 1 - Makes s a questions
User 2 - Answers and leaves a question
User 3 - Answers the previous questions and leaves another one
User 4 - Answers the previous questions and leaves another one

Let's star with... What is your favorite young adult novel?

I guess your asking what was our favorite novel when we were young? I'd have to say Lolita!!!.......................just kidding..........I'm going to have to think way back on that. I remember Dr Seuss, but I don't think that's the type of book you're asking about. I'll have to do some pondering on that. As far as poets, I do remember Robert Frost from a very young age....."Who's woods these are, I think I know......".

I was thinking about more novels like these. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/YoungAdultLiterature)... but Lolita it's a fine asnwer. I haven't read Lolita complete, just watched the 2 movies.

I liked Great Expectations but i think more that reading level i'd have to say that the Encyclopedia Brown series was most memorable ( he was kinda like a kid Sherlock Holmes ) .

If you could have anything what would it be ?

Shouldn't you also answer your own question too better learn one an other ?
Also would it be more productive for all to be able to answer any questions or not ?
Instead of one question one answer it would be more like a multi-tasking conversation .
Sorry to change your rules just seems more productive and if not apology to talk over Scruffy .

Not neccesary... the dynamics of this thread is:
User 1 - Makes s a questions
User 2 - Answers and leaves a question
User 3 - Answers and leaves a question

Although there is no problem in answering your own question, in the end you discover things in common with other members.

Now answering your question
If you could have anything what would it be ?
I'd like to have a power, immortality, invisibility ... something like that.

Next question: favorite soccer team?

Just for fun, I'll address all the questions so far.

What is your favorite young adult novel?
I don't think I've read any. I didn't read fiction until I was older, and then it wasn't YA stuff.

If you could have anything what would it be ?

:13: I'd probably start with being a bit more normal.

Next question: favorite soccer team?

Sports don't interest me.

Okay, now the hard part... What to ask???

What is your favorite young adult novel?
I dont remember many of the novels i've read, and every novel i've read has been homework several years ago. I do remember one novel though; Artemis fowl. It's about some rich supergenious that hunts fairies, and i honestly wasent that impressed. I do want to start reading some books in the future though, mainly lolita and harry potter in french when i get that ball rolling.

If you could have anything what would it be?

Probably some kind of reset button. Reset my life, remember everything from my previous lives, and be able to choose the time and place i grow up. Corsica 1984? :))

favorite soccer team?
I've never had an interest for sports.

>>> If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?
Oh man, thats a hard one. The choice would probably be between A contre courant and Hey amigo!

1) The only thing i've been afraid of is this fucking interactive bear storyteller that i got when i was 7 or so. I had nightmares for, not even kidding, 8 years. I would wake up in the middle of the night, screaming my lungs out and having panic attacks because i had nightmares about this asshole duplicating and tickling me until i couldent breathe. In retrospect, i probably shouldent have kept it right in front of my face on the table next to my bed for all those years :))
I dont have any fears now though, im not really afraid of death (In a healthy way), not afraid of heights, spiders etc... And its been several years since i was afraid of that bear thingy, so nothing now i guess.

2) I was about to say interstellar, but it seems that was from 2014, even though it feels like it came out a couple of months ago. It has to be "your name" then, its a classic crying movie, and its really good, but i guess i wasent in the right mood to be crying when i saw it. Then theres the movie i saw just yesterday, easily one of my favourites. "The fountain" is really god damn confusing, but also makes sense in a weird way even if you dont know exactly whats going on. It has an almost cult like following. If you're gonna watch it, dont read anything about it before you watch it, dont even watch the trailer.

Okay, new questions

1) Your favourite movie/movies of all time.
2) Whats your current goal?
3) Favourite tv show

And to answer my own questions:
1) https://letterboxd.com/nazzer/list/my-top-10/
I want to say its in order, but i really cant. Which of the 10 movies i like the most varies from day to day and with my mood. But those are definetively the best 10 movies i've watched, and im planning to watch them all in a row sometime in the summer with a ton of snacks and good food :D

2) Basicly school. Im currently doing a precourse to engineering which probably is the most challenging thing i've done so far. After that im moving 8 hours away from my hometown to study computer engineering and french, im also planning to start working out. Id like to have a norwegian job, working remotely as a programmer, and perhaps move to france, that would be pretty cool.

3) Star trek: Next generation!

Edit: Havent gotten around to watching suicide squad, maybe i should 0.0

I'm going to congratulate you on that list of movies. I'm also a fan of Lolita and A Clockwork orange. Have you already read the books? As I said before, I have not read Lolita completely, but if I have read the mechanical orange. That's my brother's favorite movie.:D As for the above, I imagine that it is a blessing that there was no Five Nights at Freeddy ;)

Now answering your questions
1) I think I'm like you, I do not have a favorite movie, but I have several favorite movies. To summarize the list, I will choose the ones I have seen most lately: Breakfast at Tiffanys, The Crow and TMI: City of Bones.

2)Finish writing some of the 800 books I've been writing since my 17 years.

3)Lately I do not watch much television, but the only show I loved to watch was Vampire Diaries

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?

I usually eat a whole pizza myself but it has to be good so mostly home made , i'd say around 10-15 .
Of course i prefer tomato pie which is pizza with no mozarella so is less filling and in that case i could eat 20-25 .
Im pretty small too i only weigh around 135 lbs ...

Great idea MelleValetta!
As usual, AAmers derailing and going off topic :D

My favorite book is The Count Of Monte Cristo, but that's not really a young adult novel. I think The Giver is my favorite :)

If you could have anything what would it be ?
A trillion dollars. While it may seem like a superficial answer, imagine how much good a person can do with that much money. I'd like to think I would do great things.

favorite soccer team?
FC Barcelona!! :D

>>> If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?

Without a shadow of a doubt, ÀCC

Is there any new (or upcoming) musical release that you're interested in?

Upcoming: the third album by CHVRCHES is in the works!

1. Failure, spiders :fear:
2. Hmm, either Civil War or Rogue One.

1) Your favourite movie/movies of all time.
2) Whats your current goal?
3) Favourite tv show
Inception was brilliant. I really enjoyed Amélie too :)

1. I had a list somewhere, but among my favorite movies: Michael Jackson's This Is It, Lord Of War, Gattaca, The Hunting Party, The Family Man, Alfie, In Bruges, Pirate Radio, Interview With The Vampire, The Road, Event Horizon, Frequency, Letters From Iwo Jima, Alexander, The Count of Monte Cristo (I've only seen Jim Caviezel's), The Prince Of Egypt, and of course: The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

2. Work and save as much money as I can this summer.

3. Game Of Thrones!

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?
If I started eating from breakfast, probably two or three large pizzas :)) That's about 24 slices, depending on the pizzeria. If you mean sitting down and eating a large pizza in one go, probably 4 or 5. Small stomach, but fast metabolism :D
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop ?
Tootsie rolls are nasty, I always throw it away after I get to the center :p

My question:

I think Alcaline was a very good song and with proper promotion and a good video should have been a hit. The story was of a young lady who used her headphones (powered by alkaline batteries) to escape her humdrum life. All it needed was a low budget movie to tell the story. Instead, time was wasted on only one video, a lack luster Blonde, and so the album failed.

Hi guys. I hope you are having a nice week... :bye:

I was thinking of ways to make the forum more active and make this small community more united (this will be one of the first threads I will create). So, unlike the Introduce Yourself thread, you have to answer the question made by the previous user.

"Cheese and Rice on a Tricycle". Maybe it's just me, but this one was turning into a "formatting birds nest".

So, I'm just going to simplify the format of my answer a wee bit, and remove some of the quotes. No disrespect to anyone involved. You know I respect you all immensely.

Alrighty then..

Let's start with... What is your favorite young adult novel?
"The Hobbit".

If you could have anything what would it be ?
The power to bring peace and harmony to this planet. I've been in waay too many wars.

Next question: favorite soccer team?
I hate Soccer with a passion. I think I must be the only Scot in the whole of Scotland not to like it. I'm surprised I wasn't "lynched", "banished", or, "excommunicated" or something.

If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?
It would have to be "Moi... Lolita". It was my "first", <blush>, and is still one of my favourites.

Is there any new (or upcoming) musical release that you're interested in?
Alan Walker, "Different World".

What are you afraid of?
Failure, Snakes, :nervous: and Alizée's ' "Mother" from the "Moi... Lolita" video. :runaway:

Favorite movie from last year?
None of them.

Your favourite movie/movies of all time.
Favourite movies "of all time", hmm. I have a huge list that I will refine down to: "Waterloo"; "Gettysburg", "Kagemusha", "Rurouni Kenshin: Origins", and its sequels, "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno", and, "Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends".

Whats your current goal?
I will let you know when I figure it out.

Favourite tv show?
SciFi: It's a "toss up" between "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" and "Babylon 5".
Drama: Another "toss up", this time between "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" and "Iris", both of which are Korean. I watch a lot of Asian tv.

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?
I can eat Pizza all day, just as long as it hasn't got "Olives", "Anchovies" or "Fetid cheese", oops no sorry "Feta Cheese" on it. I'm 6' 3 inches tall, weigh around about 230lbs, (have been/done since around the age of 22), with a fairly fast metabolism, so Pizza just "burns off" quickly.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop ?
With me, NONE. They are just too damn sweet, like most of all American candy. European candy 'all the way".

If you could direct an official music video for any Alizée song (that doesn't already have one) which would it be?
It would undoubtedly be an English version of "Moi... Lolita".

Now, a couple of questions from me, as appropriate.

In the series "Doctor Who", who was the best "Doctor"?
It has to be David Tennant. A very talented Scots actor, from near my home town and just generally a very cool guy.

"Dancing with the Stars" or "Danse avec les stars". Which is the better series, in terms of entertainment value and talent?
Well, I hate them both, and in this case will admit to being a total "philistine". Don't care if Alizée was performing "au naturel", I still couldn't watch it. Would rather slam my fingers in the truck door repeatedly.
If you want the lawn mowed on a 110 degree day, then put either of them on the tv.
If you want a whole weeks worth of ironing done. and put away, utterly neatly folded, again, just put either that on the tv.

Yeps, there is another <story> there, and will elaborate if asked.

Later, y'all be safe, take care. :bye:

Thanks, RedRafe. I'm relieved to see I am not the only one was getting format confusion. I'll take my turn now, and I hope you don't mind if I copy your formatting. I think we are changing the rules a bit here, but hey, that's the way the world works these days!

What is your favorite young adult novel?

It is not on the list from MelleValetta, but I think the Harry Potter series qualifies as Young Adult. So, I'd say that. For a big grown up adult novel, my all time favorite novel is "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis.

If you could have anything what would it be ?

A fantasy thing: a cure for cancer, ALS and Altzheimer's Disease.
A more realistic, personal thing: A beach house on Dauphin Island, Alabama

Next question: favorite soccer team?

Arsenal, since my teens. But we Yanks need a follow up question:
Favorite American Football team: The Patriots, of course

If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?

Oh, I would love to hear her sing "Amelie."

Is there any new (or upcoming) musical release that you're interested in?

Nope.

What are you afraid of?

I find ALS the most terrifying thing I can think of

Favorite movie from last year?

I don't usually see movies till they have been out awhile. No idea what was released last year...

Your favourite movie/movies of all time

"Gone With the Wind," "All About Eve," "Frequency" and the 1952 version of "Moulin Rouge"

Your current goal?

Get more physically fit

Favourite tv show?

"Downton Abbey"

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?

One, if I must

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop

I like the red ones and I eat it quickly. Don't tell my dentist.

If you could direct an official music video for any Alizée song (that doesn't already have one) which would it be?

I'm afraid I don't know which songs for sure she does not have music videos for. So, I'd have to say I'd like a shot a making a new video for "A Cause de L’autumn."

In the series "Doctor Who", who was the best "Doctor"?

John Pertwee

"Dancing with the Stars" or "Danse avec les stars"Which is the better series, in terms of entertainment value and talent?

I have only seen a little bit of both. So, other than liking Alizée's terrific performance, I have to pass on this.

And now here is my question:

Besides Alizée, who are the singers/actresses/celebrities (past or present) that you consider both exceptionally beautiful and truly talented?

CleverCowboy
01-12-2019, 12:03 PM
OK, I'll bite!

What is your favorite young adult novel?

Huckleberry Finn and Call of the Wild are tied

If you could have anything what would it be ?

From a humanitarian perspective, I wish I was a surgeon and had the resources to help people who cannot afford medical care. I watched a program recently where an eye surgeon in an Asian country devote one day a week to perform free cataract surgeries for those that cannot afford it. Many of these people have lived with impaired vision for years. It was very inspiring.

From a pure physical perspective, it would be a home on a well-stocked lake, of course with a pier and a pontoon and bass boat. (I love to fish)

Next question: favorite soccer team?

Not a soccer fan. The sports teams I follow closely are
American Pro Football: Houston Texans
College Football: Ohio State Buckeyes
Baseball: Houston Astros
Hockey: Columbus Blue Jackets

If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?

Par les paupières

Is there any new (or upcoming) musical release that you're interested in?

Weezer's black album

What are you afraid of?

Not being able to take care of myself one day.

Favorite movie from last year?

I thought "All the Money in the World" was very good.

Your favourite movie/movies of all time

"The Godfather," "Forget Paris", "The Birds"

Your current goal?

Shed a few pounds.

Favourite tv show?

I'm more of a Netflix binge watcher. I loved "Fixer Upper", but Chip and Joanna decided to stop making the show. :(

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?

Like, 6. Defeats my current goal though!

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop

There is no way I would have the patience for this. CRUNCH! ;)

If you could direct an official music video for any Alizée song (that doesn't already have one) which would it be?

It's not one of my favorite Alizee songs, but Décollage would be fun to make a video for.

In the series "Doctor Who", who was the best "Doctor"?

I agree with Bamagirl, John Pertwee

"Dancing with the Stars" or "Danse avec les stars"Which is the better series, in terms of entertainment value and talent?

DALS, because of Alizee.

And now here is my question:

Besides Alizée, who are the singers/actresses/celebrities (past or present) that you consider both exceptionally beautiful and truly talented?

Oooo... You have "set the Bar" so very very high with this one.

Classic Beauty, timeless elegance, and actual talent. I think I would find it hard to come up with anyone that could even remotely come close to these qualities, but here goes. :13:

Hmm..

Helen Mirren, ('nuff said), :) and, Kate Beckinsale, ;) (I never quite "got over" the "Underworld" series of movies. She can nibble on my neck with these "pointy little fangs" of hers any time she wants.) :boom:

Next question: favorite soccer team?

I don't really follow soccer much, except mainly for when it comes to the Olympics. But I can really enjoy any game in any sport that I happen to tune into when there is a lot of intensity in the players and in the fans. But if I have to choose a favorite soccer team, it would have to be AC Ajaccio.

If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?

Very tough question. I assume with this question, she is just going to be singing and not dancing. I would think I'd want her to sing Amelie m'a dit. An incredibly beautiful performance from start to finish that is over shadowed by the incredible dancing she did in many of her other performances.

Is there any new (or upcoming) musical release that you're interested in?

I'm not really interested in any new releases, but one artist I want to follow closely is Louane. I love her voice and I love what I've learned of her as a person. One of her songs I really enjoy is.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9kvi-W3W7M

Another one is one I don't really enjoy the story so much, but I enjoy her singng.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XzbuPNTBNU

What are you afraid of?
The day I will stop enjoying the music of Alizée.

Favorite movie from last year?
There's been just about nothing from the past two years that has impressed me...

Your favourite movie/movies of all time

The Longest Day!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HIt1i9-9gw

Your current goal?
Getting past cancer.

Favourite tv show?
I find it hard to make a good judgement on this. I have little time to watch current shows. I've always enjoyed watching the History channel, the Smithsonian channel and similar things. I've enjoyed watching certain comedy channels over the years such as 'The Big Bang theory", Seinfeld, etc...

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?

I'd say six.

If you could direct an official music video for any Alizée song (that doesn't already have one) which would it be?
I think members here should be able to easily figure out which one I would want. It would be hands down Alacaline! I think it's a great song. I think it could have made for a very good video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI1-37rXM74

In the series "Doctor Who", who was the best "Doctor"?

"Dancing with the Stars" or "Danse avec les stars"Which is the better series, in terms of entertainment value and talent?
I had no interest in ]"Dancing with the Stars" or "Danse avec les stars", until Alizee came along....

And now here is my question:

Besides Alizée, who are the singers/actresses/celebrities (past or present) that you consider both exceptionally beautiful and truly talented?

Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly
I would think two singers who would fall into this category would be Shania Twain and Linda Ronstadt.
Shania had a very difficult upbringing and I have to think she is a class act. Linda Ronstadt too is a woman who I think is a very classy woman though I don't know that much about her past.
Incredible vdieo by Shania....

Beautiful performance by Linda...

I love Shania Twain, too. She’s had so much real life heartache, but she has handled herself with such grace. Her music videos are fun to watch. And I have always thought Linda Ronstadt was
so lovely—and her voice was really incomparable.

It's tough to say who was better, but I think both were class acts.

Thanks RedRafe, but I'd rather things like that be directed towards world peace. I've had a decent life.

my necromancing powers are unmatched on this forum
Hmm :13: Seeing as how we're all stuck indoors with little to do, I thought it would be fun to revive a game thread and invite the newer members and others who have not participated to join. Most of my answers have not changed.

The third CHVRCHES album was since released, and although work on album four was interrupted by the quarantine, I do look forward to it.

My favorite movie from 2019 is Endgame :D

Current goal is to continue my studies into grad school.

Favorite tv show is probably Community

And as a bonus, if I could direct a second and third Alizée music video (outside of either Lilly Town and Veni Vedi Vici) I would go for Mon Taxi Driver and Happy End :)

Ok, my turn.

What is your favorite young adult novel?

The Earthsea cycle. The wizard of Earthsea was the first book that made me say "So reading can be... fun!?"

If you could have anything what would it be ?

https://wompampsupport.azureedge.net/fetchimage?siteId=7575&v=2&jpgQuality=100&width=700&url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.kym-cdn.com%2Fentries%2Ficons%2Ffacebook%2F000%2F032%2 F676%2FUnlimited_Power_Banner.jpg

If this is too much, then I would say a lot of money xD.
It is not the answer to everything, but when you have it, it's easier to make some dreams come true.

Next question: favorite soccer team?

SSC Napoli! It is not a very successful team, but one day we'll manage to win a championship.

If Alizée would visit you to sing just one of her songs, which song would you request?

This one is difficult. I'm undecided but I think I would ask for J'en ai marre. I love when she sings the "Bam ba da bam bam" part, because there is just her voice that is being beautiful, without the need of words. So listening to it live must be amazing.

Is there any new (or upcoming) musical release that you're interested in?

Dua Lipa's new album, Future Nostalgia, which came out few days ago.

What are you afraid of?

I have a senseless fear of sharks.
There aren't sharks in the Mediterranean sea (or anyway, if there are any, they never approach the coasts) but I have this kind of obsession: there must always be someone that is farther than me in the sea, because "so he gets eaten first". :damn:

Speaking of more rational fears, I don't know, I just hope to be happy in my life. I'm afraid of disappointment.

Favorite movie from last year?

Unfortunately, I don't watch as many movies as I wish, but last year I saw Joker and John Wick parabellum and I liked them a lot.

Your favourite movie/movies of all time

The last samurai and Gladiator.

Your current goal?

Getting my degree. (I hope soon :|)

Favourite tv show?

I don't watch many Tv shows. But The Simpsons are great. I don't know how many times I have watched the same episodes.

How many slices of pizza can you eat a day?

Um, I need clarification on this. From what I know, American pizzas are bigger and heavier then italian ones, so you usually don't eat an entire pizza but only "slices" of it. Is it correct?
So, I don't counts the slices, because I always eat the entire pizza. :snack:
It's fun that Alizée posted this yesterday:
https://i.ibb.co/Y2vY5Mh/Screenshot-20200413-134140.jpg
So this is the standard serving for me.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop

Oh, the last time I ate one of those things was a while ago. Time to remedy!

If you could direct an official music video for any Alizée song (that doesn't already have one) which would it be?

Hmm, I think Boxing club or Mon planeur.

In the series "Doctor Who", who was the best "Doctor"?

I know the series, but I have never watched an episode :/

"Dancing with the Stars" or "Danse avec les stars"Which is the better series, in terms of entertainment value and talent?

Dals!
I don't know the american Dancing with the stars but we have an Italian version of it. And it is horrible.

Besides Alizée, who are the singers/actresses/celebrities (past or present) that you consider both exceptionally beautiful and truly talented?

I know I'm repetitive, but it's her again: Dua.

And my question:
You find a (DeLorean) time machine. Unfortunately it is kinda broken and can only go back to the past. So you type the number 1984, but it doesn't work. It seems that you can't interfere with those years: apparently there is something mystical going on in that period...
So where do you go and what year do you type?

I think I would choose the first years of the 19th century and I would go to Japan. Yep, almost the same setting of The last samurai (but without war). I would love to feel the spirituality of those people and the way they lived. Not to mention the beauty of untouched landscape and above all duels with katanas O.O

I remember on one of Scruffy's trips to Ajaccio, he posted a picture of a pizza that he ordered at a restaurant, and it looked almost exactly like this one. Alizee must have picked it up from the same place.

Aragorn, you are right in that American pizza is generally heavier. This pizza would not make it in the US. The cheese does not cover the entire pizza. :p And just to make sure you gain enough weight to loosen your belt by a notch, one particular pizza chain stuffs the crust with mozzarella cheese. I tried it once, and it was really tasty, but from a health perspective now I have to turn my head away and pretend it doesn't exist. :w:

This was the box of Alizée's pizza. Scruffydog may recognize it.

Then you must try the Ripieno, literally "stuffed". It is a pizza filled with mozzarella, ricotta, ham and salame. But if it is not enough, there are some pizzerie that cover this megaroll with the standard margherita ingredients.

Ooh, Boxing Club would be fun.

I haven't watched much Doctor Who either. Certainly not enough to have an opinion here.

Same with DWTS

Not repetitive at all :) Dua has some really catchy songs!

My nostalgia tells me I would go to the early 90's when I was born and travel around the world. I don't know if I could choose a specific place. But my historian side tells me I would go see the pyramids being built, watch chariot races in ancient Rome, witness one of the legendary battles of Alexander the Great, and maybe go tell Christopher Columbus he is even worse at at math than me :D

I like the idea of the pyramids! Mysterious, fascinating and majestic. To know how they were built would teach us a lot about humanity and... Beyond? :13:
Stonehenge is almost the same. :O

Edit:

watch chariot races in ancient Rome

Here is a perfect and historically accurate 3D representation of a chariots race:
