It seems to me that a site like this should have a database of translations for all of Alizee's songs... perhaps even as a section of the site along the lines of Alizee Videos and the Gallery. What do you think?

I haven't finished it yet but I'm making word docs and .pdf files for all the lyrics. English and French in a two column table on one page for each song. I'll make an attachment when I've finished it. Maybe it could be a sticky.

Just like textbooks, novels, poems and other literary matter, song lyrics are copyrighted under US law, with some rights immediately secured without any application paperwork, once the work is "fixed in final form."

Until recently, it has been rather difficult to license the reproduction of large collections of song lyrics, because of the need to contact individual copyright holders. The current state of affairs is reviewed by a new NYT article <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/10/business/media/10lyrics.html">here</a>.

But wouldn't a collection of lyrics, for a fan site (especially as they need translations from French to English) fall under "fair use" rules?

First: why the revival of this ancitent thread? Really random. Second: Aaronius recently did just this, and I believe it is sticky. So this thread is kind of pointless. Except maybe to discuss that database, since the thread for it itself is locked.

This song database is very useful for Alizee fan. They can easily use this song list database very easily and also they have big database option for that.
