From what I've seen so far, these were very good performances by Alizée. I hope this helps her gain a better following.

It was strange for me to hear her sing the words, "Highway 61", in "L'americain" since I drive on Highway 61 every day. :)

I imagine she was able to get on the program since he worked on her new album. Success is all about who you know in the business.

There's been some lines of some songs in Les Enfoires over the years where I thought she sounded great, but nothing has come close to this song, where her voice sounded great from start to finish. The only other song since 2003 that I've liked was PLP. The Vanessa Paradis song she sang in Israel also had very good sections,but there were spots that were out of her range and like I said, this whole song sounded great.

I was having some doubts as to whether it would ever happen again. Well it just did.

EDIT: I've been so busy getting ready for my trip that I really haven't had time to keep up with what's been going on. Then I come here and find this. What happened? Why hasn't anyone been able to capture the beauty of her voice the way this song has? Unbelievable. For the first time in years, I'm watching one of her performances over and over again; despite you know what!

It looked like MP couldn't take his eyes off her when she was singing.

I have to admit, I, too had doubts about Alizee's range. I was a little nervous while watching her yesterday. But, I guess, we under-estimated her talent! :D

A review yesterday in Paris-based Le Nouvel Observateur, the most-read French weekly news mag, gave the programme a very good write-up and said “Alizée excellent” – so it all helps!

Still can't get over this. Great performance. and what a great piece of promotion this will be.
It's hard to tell from the. few stills I've seen, but it looks like MP has that deer in the headlights look on him, but it looks like Alizee is giving him the cold shoulder.

Agreed! More than 6.7 million people have watched the show. Even if just 5% of that audience buy her album, it'd be consider a major success in France! :pray:

Just watched every performance at least 5 times each and can conclude that...She is now officially an amazing singer, not just an all around good performer like she was most of her career. She must have been practicing her vocals!!!!

Definitely live. No way she would have allowed vocal mishaps on backtrack. Generation 90 Moi...Lolita on the other hand...that was backtracked because it was perfect key-wise.

Fun fact : alizée haven't lip synced since mid 2011 ( jpva/jeam melody ) :)

I really enjoyed watching Alizée performing on this show. She sounded so good, and like some others here, I think that if she sounds this good on the new album, it will do well. I'll admit that I tear up a little listening to these performances because it's so great to me to hear her singing like this.

Towards the middle of La Vie Par Procuration I felt like she sounded similar to the old perfomance on Graines de Star of Ma Priere. When I checked it wasn't quite the same but it still reminds me of that.

I enjoy listening to all of Alizée's songs on all the albums. Some more than others of course. Some of songs from the third and fourth albums took a bit longer... To me (as Scruffydog has said many times) she can sound really good when she sings a song that makes good use of her voice. Her early mentors were able to provide songs like that for her, even though I'm pretty sure they played around with the knobs on the mixing board quite a bit on several songs on Gourmandises to tweak her sound. I'm not sure she chose the best songs (for her) to sing on the last two albums, but she did what she wanted to do and that's her choice. However I'm hoping that maybe she found songs for 5 that she can make sound great. Or that she was guided in that direction...

But I'll like them no matter what.


Edit - PS, whatever... I discovered today that a CD was released a few months ago called Generation Goldman. Maybe it was discussed before but I totally missed it. It is a compilation of many of the songs they performed on the the Samedi show, but Alizée did not perform on the CD. It was fortunate then, I think that she was able to be on this show.

I agree. This has been some of her best singing in years.

I especially keep listening to "American" from 1:55 to 2:30. It is now echoing in my head.

It's live all right (although the backup choir was clearly pre-recorded).

By the way, in watching American meay times, I can almost swear that the program is being very careful with their angles and close-ups to minimize her tattoos being too evident. They didn't eliminate our seeing them, but they do seem to minimize it somewhat.

For example, doing close-ups when the mic is in her left hand (which is not often) or her arm is down and she is turned towards Chimene.

A question for the ladies - in American, she seems to hook her hair back at one point (just after the gospel section). Could she really have a hook in her hairdo? :)
