SAD-what happened?!

Sorry for the luring title not pertaining to anything at all really.

Anyway, someone please just throw out a random topic about Alizee we can discuss for the forum's sake. Because there has been nothing interesting to talk about for the whole last week, especially since the forum was down for 2 days.

By the way, SAD stands for "Spontaneous Alizee Discussion"...

Like another "Her ____" Thread? :P

Azhiri 04-17-2011 10:33 PM

Oh lord, we do not need another one of those. :p

So I discovered this week that MCE is the perfect album to listen to whilst lounging on the beach. Sooooo soothing. :) Merci for making my vacation that much better Lili!

Hey, I got a couple randumbs:

Anybody else think it's peculiar how Alizée's voice seems to have gotten a lot higher in the last few years? Intentionally, I'm sure, but it strikes me as weird how at first, she tried to sing in lower registers, now she mostly veers higher. In that 2010 version of "Lolita", it's almost a falsetto.

Or...

Anyone else here think that French music from the 00's sounds a lot more like American music from the 70's or early 80's than our music today? Not that they're behind us or anything, but that there's still a lot more emphasis on MELODY and MUSIC there, while here, these days it's mostly just about the beat and/or the shock factor.

Or...

Anyone else here still planning to go see Yelle? I was thinking about it (in Madison - May 8th), but then watched a couple more of her vids and said to myself, "no. I can't sit through that." I even showed em to the family, and they tried to run away!

Or... Who's next?

I'd start these as separate topics myself, but they're still like half-formed ideas, and I'm short on time. So Aaron, moderators, or whoever, I'm just tossing these things out there. Feel freeeeeeee to run with it.

I KNEW I WASN'T CRAZY!

Her voice was so velvety and smooth in her early years, now it's more of a high-pitched but softish tone. I suppose she just prefers it personally, similar to her style of dress/hair.

Yes, I am going to see her on April 25th in Atlanta.

I dont know if you guys know this or not, but they broadcast her concert yesterday live from the US. 4,000 people were supposed to show up and 8,000 people came. Even my mom watched it and she is 65 lol... she loved it.

Oh jaysus... I know something that would surely spur some discussion and interest, but whether or not to use it...

screw it.

About five months ago I deleted my entire Alizée folder of pictures and videos

I thought I remembered reading something about it being easier to sing in a higher pitch

Yeah i think the same. But not actually "a lot higher". Higher voice still have its cuteness.

Besides, she grown up. Not the same Alizee ten years ago. she must have changed, you know.

User22 04-18-2011 09:54 AM

After 4 people talking about it I guess we can talk about how her voice has evolved and has shown a larger range in the past couple years.

Cause yeah, I was just listening to Adelaide this morning and my goodness! Her voice can go VERY HIGH. And it sounds so great :D

Some random thoughts in last few minutes...
Is the music video same for I'm not twenty and JPVA?

I want to see JPVA making video.

What about Alizée's first ever recorded appearance?

Jenifer just posted this on her fb page

http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7051097_n.jpg

The dress looks similar to one which Alizée wore in Les Enfoires this year.

User22 04-18-2011 10:38 AM

No I don't think they made a video for I'm Not Twenty. People have just overlaid the music for I'm Not Twenty over the video for JPVA...I think.

Do we even have video of that first ever performance MA? Or is it just the pictures? I have seen pics but no vids.

And that dress looks almost exactly like the one Alizee wore :)

Merci Alizée 04-18-2011 10:51 AM

For first appearance we have only pictures and audio. I wanted to know her experience of those days.

She hasn't logged into her myspace in last 1 year. Wondering if she still logs into her twitter or not. For those who don't have account on twitter, you can mention any person in your tweet and that person can see all the tweets mentioning them in a tab just next to tweets tabs. It may happen that she find your messages... :/

I totally forgot about that!!! Why haven't we flooded her twitter profile yet? Hehe jk'n.

No, there is a Français version & Anglais version. Same choreography.

Okay I'm going to start one. One I've been thinking about for a while. I had hoped to do some research on the subject first, but I'll throw it out there and see what people think and they can offer what they know about the subject. It's something I'm sure has been discussed before, but we're always getting new faces around here so it doesn't hurt to bring it up again.

Good thread Scruff!

But aside from other things posted here, does everyone else agree that Alizee has showcased a slightly higher pitched voice in the last 2 album eras? Cause in her early days I didn't see it as much...

Absolutely no doubt about it. She has sung generally in a higher register in her last two albums, but of course there are some exceptions like Mes Fantômes. Personally, I like it when she uses both ends of her range, but my favorite is the lower and mid range. That's when the unique timbre of her voice stands out the most, because most female singers can't sing as low as she can.

That's what I liked initially about ML, the lows baby. Very hypnotic and soothing.

"Happy Birthday....Mr. President".

No...wait...sorry....had a Monroe moment for a second there.

:p

Had some thoughts... this seems as good a place as any to go ahead and dump them! I think we'd all agree that one of the possible reasons for Alizée's decline in popularity post-MCE era is her growing reclusivity and lack of promotion. She's also been quoted on saying that Mylène "taught me everything I know" in some interview or other post MCE era - a second person who's often criticised for having a distinct laissez-faire (to the extreme) approach to self-promotion... coincidence?
