I would start with your list, maybe remove one or two, and add Kansas, Yes, Queen, Ambrosia, Styx, ELP, Transatlantic and Spock's Beard (before Neal Morse left). I've always had a soft spot in my heart for prog music, especially the old stuff. I also like a lot of singer/songwriters like David Wilcox (the American one), Brenda Weiler, Lucy Kaplansky, and Gretchen Peters, to name a few.

I've learned a lot about musicianship from listening to the old prog bands and I've learned a lot about songwriting from singer/songwriters. I could add a lot more, including more current bands, but the list would be way too long.

Rammstein, Vassline, Oomph, Eisbrecher, L'Ame Immortelle, Samsas Traum, Megaherz, Stahlhammar, Korn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Zeromancer, The Kovenant, Das Ich, Slipknot, Seotaeji, Die Krupps, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Turmion Katilot, Marilyn Manson, Deathstars, Static X, Fear Factory, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, etc.

Mostly Industrial metal.
