It has been 7 years...

When I saw Jacotey's Happy bday AAm message in the chatbox, I suddenly realized that it has been over 7 years since I discovered Alizee. Suddenly everything felt very unreal and surprising.

I have stopped following like I used to do earlier. I do read forums, but most of the time I hardly know what's going on with her.

But often I find myself listening to her songs. In fact, everyday... Recently I have been listening to C'est trop tard almost every time on my way to the work. When did I start doing so, I don't remember. But whenever I feel like I don't have anymore of her songs to listen to, I somehow end up listening to a song which I didn't used to much earlier.

ALS 10-13-2014 03:15 PM

Six weeks until "10 Ans" for me. :D

Scruffydog777 10-13-2014 05:44 PM

It's been over 7 and 1/2 half for me. I had always thought MA had been a member much longer than me. He seemed so informed about Alizée. He was the go to guy on matters concerning Alizée. This forum owes a huge debt to him in running this forum when Ben had too many things going on in his own life to do it. He did such a great job despite being unfamiliar with the ways of so many of the members on this side of the world.

As far as my fandomness, it's just as strong as ever. I can't understand why I haven't grown tired of her considering compared to her early albums, things have disappointed me and at times pissed me off. But as much as I've come to realize Alizée wasn't the princess on the outside I thought she was, I have learned how much of a princess on the inside she is. It bothers me deeply that I've criticized her as many times as I have, but I've done so feeling that honesty is the best policy and I feel it's best to let her know if I think she's made a mistake, even if the rest of the world feels otherwise.

I've been thinking about posting a story or better yet, making a video of my encounters with Alizée and I think at least for me, it will be an interesting one.

But first, concerning C'est trop tard, I'm working on a project that is somewhat related to that and I think it's turning out unbelievably well. Hopefully within the week it will be done and if people like it half as much as I've enjoyed the early results, I think it will be a huge hit.

lefty12357 10-13-2014 07:03 PM

This December will mark 8 years for me, at least as a member here. I was checking out this site for a while before I joined, but I don't remember how long. I discovered Alizée in the Gourmandises era, sometime after Parler Tout Bas came out. I lost track of her and rediscovered her in 2006. Time sure flies.

Like MA, I don't follow Alizée as closely as I used to, but I drop in here every day to check things out. For me, the first thing that attracted me to Alizée was her music, and that's what I kept coming back for. Over time, I grew to like her also as a person. I still like her and I still care for what goes on in her life, but as her music has become less of a focus of her career, I admit that my interest has also lessened. I am following a few other artists who are out there producing music that I enjoy listening to, and so more of my focus has turned that way. Still, I like to keep up with how Alizée is doing.

Rev 10-14-2014 03:06 AM

Over 7 1/2 years for me as well. I never expected to still be interested in her career after all of this time. And yet here I am, still checking in almost every day. It's surprising actually, and almost like a soap opera in that I have to tune in each day to see what has changed.

We have all spoken at length about what has drawn us to this particular person, so it does not need to be repeated here. I'm just glad I am in good company. :)

C-4 10-14-2014 07:11 AM

I have been following Alizée since before I found this forum, but it has not been as much fun before I found this forum and everyone here.
Have a great day everyone. :)

Wow... After reading this post I realized that I've been coming to this site pretty much every day for the last 8 years (next month). I may not post an awful lot but reading about Alizée has definitely become a daily routine for me.

It will be 13 years since I discovered Alizée in November.

I discovered her through Moi... Lolita when she was promoting herself in the UK. I saw the music video and after buying her cd I checked out her website and after checking out the dates ( I think it was called something like that ) section I captured The Passengers featurette twice on video ( as it was repeated later on in the week on TV )because I was blown away by all her Alizéeness.

Then I spent over a year checking out websites dedicated to her and only lurked on forums before deciding to join MF international. I posted over there for some years but still only lurked on Alizée Forum using it mainly to keep up with all things Alizée as I do with this forum now.. the only difference is I've now been a member of both these best forums dedicated to our girl for many years now too.. I think it has been 7. :)

So were you a member of MF when Alizée left MF/LB? There must've been a lot of rumors floating around. When was the first time anything official was announced?

Yeah I joined in June 2003 or maybe it was July, I can't seem to access the forum to check as it' down.. anyway my nick over there is nexus.

I never paid too much attention to those rumours at the time as I was just grateful to have been able to see Alizée perform in En Concert.

Well after the concert at Le Zénith I waited for her and at one stage Laurent Boutonnat came out, I saw him and gave him a thumbs up and if I remember correctly there were some screams from the fans who thought they saw Mylene in the back seat, I can't be sure though cuz all I saw was LB. Well I did see Jennifer and Jeremy there too though, funny thing is one fan I spoke to thought Jennifer was actually Alizée in the back seat and then they left for home.

Anyway RMJ has stated Alizée already decided split with Mylene and Laurent whilst the tour was in progress and he's probably right.. I think they just stuck with her to the end of that era cuz it was the right thing to do. :)

I'll add to those 7 years people :) Still hearing her voice through my speakers from time to time :)

Plaz 10-16-2014 05:44 PM

Had my 10 yr in March... Definitely not the same 15 yr old fanboy I was then. Still listen and follow here and there.

Fall 10-16-2014 06:41 PM

This January will be 6 years since I became a fan, and then in July it will be 6 years since I joined AAm. I also looked through the forum before I joined it, extensively for a couple of months before I joined. Old threads. :D

Echoing what others have said so far, I don't post as much on the forum or on its IG/Fb/Twitter because of school, but she's still every bit a part of who I am as she has been all these years. I can't see myself not being an Alizée fan. I'm also a big fan of Alizée America, it has certainly been and continues to be an essential part of my and many others' Alizée experience. :)

I had been reading forums for long time, but I didn't understand much. I used to be very curious and spent a lot of time reading different articles during my college days.

Sometimes I feel that I have lost it, but then again I woke up this morning and found Blonde disc just next to me. I was listening to it last night and forgot to put it back. That's when I realize that I may not be interested in what media says about her anymore, but what I liked earlier hasn't changed yet.

Rev 11-12-2014 02:55 AM

Hi MA,

In her core, she is still the same person. I spot glimpses from time to time and the person you (we) were first drawn to is still there.

She tried to put on a new "image" for BLONDE (basically because she made the decision to make the tour themed partly around that Blonde song). People did not like it as much as the more "real" her (still partly an image, but closer to the real her).

I really liked what I saw in Top 50. :)

I've been a devoted fan for over 10 years, and she still is my number one top performer. For me, it does not get any better than Alizée. Maybe I am blindly in love with her, but that is how I see her.

I still spot glimpses all the time. Most often during TV talk shows where there are several other guests, and she is sitting back observing the discussions.

Well, that might not make sense to everyone, since we all have different reasons for being fans and different expectations of who she is. But maybe some fans will know what I mean.

Now that I think about it, I got my impressions of who she is from the early TV interviews. Not so much what she said, but how she said it.

I discovered Alizée in 2006, yeah, 8 years ago I saw a wallpaper of a beautiful girl on a PC, I didn´t know who she was, but it was love at first sight  ... later after doing some research I realized that the girl on that wallpaper was Alizée and that she sang the songs I liked and I used to listen on the local radio (moi... lolita and JEAM) ...and the research for finding Alizée stuff still continue nowadays :D #NeverWannaLeaveYou #VivaAlizée #LaPlusBelle #ForeverYoung

Yes excuse me....... but Alizée has been a part of many lives here for years, through good times and some not so good she has always been a ray of light, so I felt that song was befitting to post here, of course there's many other songs I could've posted but that's just one that recently caught my attention.. oh well nevermind.

I originally joined this site back in 2006, I believe.. Maybe 2005, if it was around then. Of course, I had a different user name then. I found 2 of Alizee's videos on the newsgroups/forums: Jen ai Marre and Ella Elle La.. when I was downloading music videos back in Feb 2005, about a year after her concert. Luckily, I got to watch her grow and change through the years but my favorite version of Alizee is still Alizee 2.0 (the Jen ai Marre years.)

I don't get to this site much anymore but do check in occasionally and I'm glad I was one of the organizers of the American Alizee birthday party back in 2007. Funny.. because of Alizee's influence another user.. CFHollister (was a teacher) now became a French Chef and is working at a nice local French Restaurant. The Original French Bistro "La Creme Brulee" in Steilacoom, Wa, where the party was held just closed and has morphed into a much bigger French restaurant in Tacoma, where CFHollister now works.

If anyone wants to say hello to him let me know and I'll be sure to pass it on. I'll check back in a few days on this posting.

EDIT:
I wonder what Cooney ever did with his extremely massive Alizee collection that he displayed at the 2007 birthday party.

Jenny_HRO87 11-14-2014 01:24 PM

Jumping on the bandwagon... for me it has been 11 years. Oh I knew Alizée since 2001 (I think) but only as a pretty girl who sang a song I loved and I had no idea who she was and unlike today I couldn't just google the lyrics (lol remember when google didn't existed? Seems impossible today.:D) or the song's name or check the playlist of my radio station to find out who the singer of Moi.. Lolita was... and I was a weirdo who didn't like to watch music videos on MTV or Viva like the cool kids because I wasn't really interested in music so no chance of finally finding out about this girl's name...

Well I joined the forums pretty late, AF in 2008 (oddly enough I visited the AF-Fanpage quite a lot but never followed the link that would have lead me to the forum), AAm in 2009, but I was always following her movements since 2003.

11 years with a lot of ups, some heartbreaking downs, a lot of smiles and happiness, some really huge tears, frustration, a lot of fun :france: and so many great people I've met... I really own Alizée a lot to be honest... It wasn't perfect the entire time but I wouldn't miss it for the world.:grouphug:

Please say "HI!" to CFH for me too. I always liked guys like CFH and Cooney.

And I must say that I really like threads like this. I think it's a nice reminder of why we are all here in the first place. It's easy to get caught up in the ups and downs of the current events in Alizée's life and career, and forget the big picture and the long view.

The last time I heard of Cooney, he was working for TSA at Seatac airport (about 2007).

Lefty, I believe that you were one of the guys who remade Mlle Juliette. Your version was better than the original and I still listen to it occasionally. I do wish Alizee would have taken that route with her music as it is more up-tempo, powerful and pop-ish. I think your version would have been a big hit if it was released rather than her version.

EDIT: 06 Oct 2017
Well, it's been over 10 years now since the great Alizee birthday party in Steilacoom, Washington State. (Reading from above) Since then, Chef Bertrand closed his big French restaurant in downtown Tacoma.. economic reasons but he's now working with someone else in a small nearby city. He's probably going to open another small French restaurant in the future sometime. After all, his small French restaurant was very successful but his big restaurant had too many expenses. He closed his small bistro to follow his dream to own and operate a big one.

CF Hollister (Josh) worked 2 different jobs in different restaurants (moving on) before Bertrand's big restaurant closed. I believe he's now working somewhere in the middle of Washington State.. as a chef, following his younger girlfriend as she goes to college. Remember... if it wasn't for Alizee (whose influence brought CF Hollister to visit Bertrand's restaurant) he wouldn't be a chef.. he'd probably still be a substitute teacher looking for work.

As for me.. if anyone is interested, I still admire the beauty of Alizee and listen to her old music from time to time while driving. I even downloaded the entire French "Dancing with the Stars" where she participated and won a few years back with her then future husband. Back then, we (Bertrand, Josh and I) watched the weekly competition as it slowly progressed week by week and were very happy with the final results. As of now, I'm going to Trucker school, a 6-month course, so you may see me driving down a freeway near you sometime in the future.

Anyway, I don't get to this website very often anymore.. only when I use Google's site search technique to search for a specific entry on this website only. How about yourselves? Any old fans still on this site still here? Say.. 2005 - 2010. If so, what are you doing nowadays? I'll check back to see if anyone replies. - Dave 06 Oct 2017.

PS
I wish I knew whatever happened to Cooney.. I really liked him. Probably still working for TSA at SeaTac Airport. He had a great and massive Alizee collection. You should have seen it! He displayed some of it at the Alizee birthday party back in 2007. That was a great party!!!

I wonder if you realized I had all the episodes of DALS translated to English, at least the sections that involved Alizee. I'm quite sure they are on the hub if you don't have them and if you don't access the hub any more, I could put them on Google drive for you.

SAGA was another very good show she was in. That too has been translated into English.

I have no idea what happened to Cooney. He was sort of fading out as I was fading in, and never got to know him that well.

I guess I'm the member who's been here the longest and still posts on a regular basis. Ray would be next. ALS still drops in from time to time and Jenny and MerciAlizee and C4 on occasion. We have a bunch of good newer fans too.

Glad to hear CF Hollister is doing good. I'm quite sure it was him I had the pleasure of hand delivering an autographed cd to here in Boston.

It's been 10 years for me. Earlier in the year I started putting together a video, detailing my experiences, but I got side tracked by several other things. Hopefully I can find the will to finish it.

Yes, CF Hollister (Josh) seems to be doing fine. He sent me a text message saying that he was in a class (of some kind) so he couldn't talk. Although, when I do eventually talk to him I'll find out what he's been up to lately.

What is SAGA? Yes, if you have an HQ version of SAGA then please put it on a Google drive and post the link. I would be happy to watch it.

Someone sent me a message asking if I could repost the photos from the Alizee birthday party back in 2007. If I can find them, I will. I have 25 hard drives.. mostly in the multi-terabyte range so when I have some extra time I will look for them.

As far as the birthday party went.. It was a great party with people coming from different states to attend.. about 8 of us Alizee diehards and some non-fans who just wanted to attend. In the French restaurant we had a traditional Corsican meal made by Chef Bertrand, a real chef from France. Everyone went home with an Alizee poster and various Alizee memorabilia nick-nacks. I still have mine, including the big birthday banner with Alizee's photo on it. That was a great party.. too bad we can't have another one like it. Ahh.. those were the Alizee days!

I'm buying special software for cataloging my hard drives and I'll use that to find the photos. But.. I have many, many terabytes for the software to look through so it many take a little time. Of course, I have to try and remember what the photos were named.. I think they are listed as "Alizee - Birthday Party" or something similar. I should be able to find them sometime soon... maybe this coming weekend.

Alizee 2007 Birthday Party Photos and Contests

OK.. I spent the money on a great catalog search tool and searched all of my 23 hard drives and found the birthday party photos along with the PDFs of the "Alizee Word Search", "Alizee's Trivia challenge" and "Alizee Photo Frame" contests that were held on that day. Winners won various prizes. You may want to try your skill to see how you stack up! No time to post them now but I will post them this weekend. on this thread.

That is great! You spend extra your money for a programm to search for the files...? You did not have to do that.

If you have about 30 Terabytes worth of hard drives and they're all full (a lot of duplicate back-ups) Yes, you have to do that... to find anything.
