Alizée is a Corsican born singer who originally started out wanting to make her life dancing, but after she failed to enter "Graines de Star" (an American Idol type of show) under the dancing category she decided to enter under the singing one.

She went on to win the program, which caught the attention of Myléne Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat (singer and producer, respectively) who were looking for a new, young talent to become Myléne's new protégé.

The outcome of this meeting lead to Alizée's first album: Gourmandises. "Moi Lolita", based on the novel by Vladimir Nabokov, was the first track on the album and was also her first single. Other singles to follow were "L'alizé", "Parler tout bas", and "Gourmandises"

After a three year hiatus staying out of the spotlight, Alizée came back into the public eye with her second album: Mes Courants Électriques.

This album marked the growth of her image from a Lolita-esque child to a more matured, yet sexy young woman. With the album came three more singles which follow.

Alizée's break was a busy one, with her getting married to fellow French singer Jérémy Chatelain in late 03, and with him having her first child; a baby girl named Anny-Lee. Alizée again reappeared in 2007 with her most recent album, Psychédélices. With the album came a radical new style and sound but was successful nonetheless.

*a small note, those of you who tried to look up "mellealizée" or are not familiar with the French language probably did not find a lot of good results. As you probably know already, her real name is Alizée, not Mellealizée. The "Melle" is a contraction of "mademoiselle", like the more common "Mlle".

I had never seen that before. That song had a really different sound to it then anything on her albums. Completely different personality. Cool.

yup, that's old-school Lilly, Her own style of singing rather than Myléne's that we have become accustomed to.

what did the pink forums say about all this? or did you never go back to find out?
