AAm Stars à Domicile LIVE chat party! Saturday Feb. 21, 2009 @ 4pm EST/1pm PST

Hey everybody! For the third AAm Fan Commentary Track, we've decided to change it up a bit. Rather than watch a concert recording, we're going to weigh in on Alizée's two appearances on the French television program Stars à Domicile ("Stars at Home") from 2001 and 2003.

The reasons for this are twofold. Firstly, from the discussions I've read here and elsewhere over the past several months, Lili's episodes of SAD (wow, now that's an unfortunate acronym) hold a very special place in the hearts of many fans. Personally speaking, watching her 2001 appearance is what pushed me over the threshold from being simply Lili-curious into a full-fledged fan.

Secondly, and maybe more importantly, both videos are readily available right here in AAm's super-awesome spectacular video section. Hopefully this will make it easier for more of you to access the video and join in, or simply watch and follow along once it hits the podcast feed. You can find the 2001 episode here, and the 2003 episode here.

(One thing I would strongly recommend, if you are planning to join in...or even if this is just a video you plan to watch more than once...would be to download the video to your PC and watch it in an FLV player, rather than streaming it directly from AAm. If you're using Firefox, the Download Helper extension makes it easy to download .flv files to your hard drive right from your browser. My preferred FLV player of choice is (duh!) FLV player--it doesn't have many bells and whistles, but it's simple and easy to use-- but there's plenty of free programs available on the web for either task.)

"How do I join?" you ask? It's actually pretty easy. All you need is a headset & mic (or just a mic and your computer speakers), and to download the Ventrilo client. Then you configure a few settings (really easy to do), connect to the server, and you're off to the races.

Click here to read a really easy-to-follow tutorial that Tomtentp wrote up about it, complete with screenshots! Or just watch the video below!

The settings for the Vent server that Jung has set up for AAm are as follows:

Heh, funny, Julia and Jessica were actually the first 2 girls to make me cry . Definitely I won't miss this one.
I just finished downloading the 2003 program, I got it from here, and there seem to be a problem on the second part of the download, it marks an error when extracting the files with WinRar. Anyone else got that problem too?

Gotta hurry up with the 2001 SAD.

One thing to watch out for is that everyone plays the same version of 2003. The one on AAm is converted from John Doe's 1.073.585.914 byte file, but TheLarch's 1.127.028.740 byte extended video with opening credits is also very common.

Unfortunately, I don't have a download link for John Doe's version to match this site, but TheLarch's version can be found here: http://vdb.alizee.cz/browse.php?nid=290

2001 is easier, the video on AAm should match the 1.727.774.724 byte file that most people have and is currently on the VDB: http://vdb.alizee.cz/browse.php?nid=289

Here are subtitle files for all three:

You can download them here directly (but it might be better to download the original video?)

But here are the flash versions just in case:

Oh nooo not the SAAAD clips, I'm gonna be bursting into tears every second or so. Oh well, it could prove quite humorous having 10 full grown men crying over voice-com for watching 2 girls hugging each other.

Or maybe it's just me being weak to the force. I recommend you bring your napkins in any case. :p

Well, the I don't think I ever cried at that. That things that have made me "get something in my eye" were Parler Tout Bas and watching the final JEAM in the Mexico concert video because I was there and knew Alizée was about to leave (and now know that for me that was at least for many months and maybe forever).

Excellent choice, they do hold a special place in my heart. I'll have to dig up Jessica's commentary so I've got something to talk about.

SAD Eyes

Yep, I couldn't hold back the tears on SAD either. It's a strange phenomenon how a lot of things in life are sad, but I haven't been affected by them. Yet, I experienced a few moments in Lily Town that had me.

The crying part recorded might prove decent laughs for future members. ;)

That's Alizée for you. Can we stop calling it SAD and call it Stars or à Domicile or just the whole thing though? That acronym doesn't work for me.
Good point about looking for Jessica's commentary. I hope I can find that and time to do so as well.

Sorry, I just had to post this quote from Jessica. It made me get something in my eyes, I'm way too manly to cry

Quote:

It’s her… the tears flowed down my face, that was it, I understood, Stars à Domicile… the program I watch all the time, the fans I always envy, today it was my turn… I can’t come to grips with it, I take her in my arms: She is so fragile and so small! She smells so good, She is so beautiful, so well dressed, in short, perfect… An angel I tell you!

Heh, exactly Lolita Lempicka :D. Several pages of spamming on Jessicas' thread came across me to find that question asked by Matrix  found 12 consecutive spanish posts .

I have the link to her review about the meeting somewhere in my links... let me search them ;)

Scruffydog777 02-15-2009 11:35 PM

That's something that would have happened on Al Bundy's day off!

The 2003 episode is my favorite. Don't you wish that once in your life that you could bring as much happinesss into someone's life as she brought into Jessica's that day.

I knew as happy as Jessica was to see Alizée the day of the surprise, that she would cry when they parted. What a huge high it must have been to meet Lilly and then such a super low to see her leave.

I think Alizée did a lot of growing up between 2001 and 2003. If the Alizée of 2001 had met Jessica in 2003, I think that shoe store would have flooded with tears from both girls.

I have the Jessica's review in jpeg format. I'll post it once I find it if Edgar93 can't find his link.

edgar93 02-15-2009 11:49 PM

Here is the story :D, but please share with us the JPEG version Scruffs!

(translation by cooney and afrenchie)

My Meeting

How do you talk about that meeting, about MY meeting with the one I’ve admired more than any other for over 6 years now… Where do you start? I don’t really know. I’ll just talk about that meeting from the heart. You may have already seen it on TV on Stars à Domicile, I’m going to try, today, to let you live it from the inside… Let’s start!

The Surprise

It all started April 10th, 2003: I got up rather late (It was Easter vacation!), still shaken by the dream I’d been having, it was about a meeting with my fairy. Yes, I think that I had a premonition that I’d meet her! In short, the day went by: I was expecting to go with my mom to Arcachon to go shopping that same afternoon. Around 2PM my mom went to the supermarket near my house, ostensibly she needed to buy some glue for my step-father, who’s a handyman! In reality, she had a meeting with the whole crew of Stars à Domicile, at the end of which they put a mic on her! From that moment on, all that I said was being listened to! Around 2:20PM she returned, and we left in the direction of Arcachon!…

We have a bad habit of never being able to find a parking spot (because it’s a tourist town!), but a car was just leaving the minute we arrived in the center of town! Coincidence? Heck no! In reality, the spot was picked and chosen for the trap: the car that left was in fact a crew car for the broadcast that was waiting upon our arrival, to kindly give us its spot. In short, everything seemed normal… we began our little tour of the shops, I found myself some pants (the red pants that I wear on the stage, incidentally!), and we arrived outside the shoe store… When I didn’t mention the poster for Mes Courants Electriques… which was inside, my mom said to me: “Look there at what’s inside!” We went in, and I found myself in front of a magnificent poster. I had to have it. I went up the clerk (fake clerk!) and asked her if I could have it. She told me she’d already promised it to another, but she proposed something: it was 3PM, if at 4PM she hadn’t come back, she’d give it to me! Full of hope, I went back out in to Arcachon, thinking of only one thing: That poster! 4PM: we go back to the store, the poster was still there…

So happy to see it still in place in the store, I said to myself “Awesome, the girl didn’t come, I’m going to get it!” But the clerk asked me to be patient for a few more minutes to see if the girl would show up (yes, they had to wait for Lili to arrive!) Then, after she gave me my disappointment on the subject of the Alizée poster, I saw a camera come in to the store. At that moment I said to myself “Cool, I’m going to be on TV!” Then the music started, and I recognized the intro of J’en ai marre!: “Sweet, it’s J’en ai marre!” I never expected that she would appear in just a couple seconds! Then, THE shock, the biggest shock of my life I think… a little doll made her appearance in the store and began to sing… It’s her… the tears flowed down my face, that was it, I understood, Stars à Domicile… the program I watch all the time, the fans I always envy, today it was my turn… I can’t come to grips with it, I take her in my arms: She is so fragile and so small! She smells so good, She is so beautiful, so well dressed, in short, perfect… An angel I tell you! I try to sing with her but the words hardly make it out of my mouth, I’m so enraptured in front of her… she’s there for me, to talk to me, to touch me… Incomprehensible a few minutes before, me, who prayed for a poster! If I had known… I try to get a grip on my emotions, to recover my senses, but it doesn’t work and I can’t stop crying! Then, a man from the crew tells me we’re going to re-shoot the hug… yes, I had to cry again (that wasn’t very hard, for sure)! But it was so that I could sing a bit more with her, up to the editing standards! Quickly we reset to re-do THE shock! Then, Lili told me that we were going to my house: Second shock! The first thing that I thought: my room is a mess (even though my mom had asked me to clean it before we went out! But my step-father, knowing we were coming home, had put my things in order!) Alizée and I left the store: there were lots of people outside who asked what was going on… We crammed ourselves in to a car, with my mom and my half sister (she also was there, but wasn’t in on it! THE shock for her, too!) being just ahead to lead us back to our house…

In the car, the conversation began: she asked me what I’d bought while I was at the stores, we talked about Corsica, about Ajaccio… in short, about everything and nothing! All was so natural between us… a dream! Then, as the car arrives outside the house, my brother who isn’t in on it wonders what’s going on and runs in the direction of my mother to ask her. Very happy with who I arrive with, he remains very reserved and very intimidated the entire time Lili’s at our house! We get out of the car and enter. Lili thinks the house is big, it’s the first thing she said upon entry!

Then we went to my room… She enters my world, she’s there, I don’t realize that she’s in the room where I pass the time listening to her, looking at her, and admiring her… My first instinct was to offer her the diploma that I’d prepared for her if one day I had the good luck to meet her. She thanked me. Then Lili goes to redo her makeup in my little sister’s room!

We joined back together in the living room, where we could drink some champagne! “We toast to who?”…”To Jessica!”… I still can’t believe it. Alizée is here, with me, and said my name!

What to say, what to do… in those moments it wasn’t clear, but everything happened naturally. Then the cameras stopped filming, and Olivier (her manager) came to see us to tell us we can take off our microphones and go to my room to have some time alone together, by ourselves… There I showed her all the things I had of hers, and asked her the questions I wanted to… At one point, Lili was sitting at my desk and said to me “I’m going to give you my cell phone number, that way we can talk to each other. But careful, keep it safe, I trust you…” And me, I could only respond with a tiny “Yes, thank you” in a trembling voice. After the surprise, I could continue to talk to her… She gave it to me written on a piece of paper that I held close with extreme care. Then, Olivier came, and says to Alizée that it’s time to leave: she has a plane to catch to return to Paris (the day before, she was doing a promo in Spain, and stopped by Bordeaux to surprise me before leaving again for Paris…). We moved towards the exit. My brother asked her, in a very timid voice “May I have an autograph?…”. Too cute… Alizée agreed, and signed an autograph for him. Lili made sure they weren’t forgetting anything, then I asked her when I would see her again. She replied that it would be at the filming of the show, none-the-less, she invited me to the Olympia! Decidedly, this is to good to be true… I would make the arrangements with Olivier and the record label for the day, and all the organization. But, that’s another story…

At one point, outside, the crew brought the famous poster that Lili dedicated to me. Then, she got in the car and wished me a good night, and said see you soon! It’s only when the car had disappeared that I really understood what had just come to life… I was realizing my dream: meeting her that I admire more than anybody, on Stars à Domicile… I broke down in tears in the arms of my mother, who said to me that I’d see her again soon. Reason being, I was going to Paris to film the show…

The whole crew of Stars à Domicile remained a bit longer at my house: Brigitte, the woman who set up the surprise start-to-finish with my mom, asked me my impressions, what I was feeling, etc… Then, after eating some cake and offering me another small poster upon which was written “Alizée” in red, upon a gray background, they left also… We found ourselves, for the moment, alone in the house after the emotions we’d gone through… An extraordinary adventure. In the evening, after having called all my relatives to tell them what I’d just done (They didn’t know whether to believe me or not!), I sent an SMS to Lili, not expecting a response. A few minutes later, when I was in my room with my mom, my cell-phone rang… It was her, she wished me good night in turn… third shock of the day… I couldn’t comprehend it (besides, I still can’t comprehend it, even three years later!) My hands had her scent, her perfume… A little anecdote: I didn’t wash my hands, and I wiped them with tissues in hopes of keeping that scent that was so special to me, her scent! But no, that didn’t work, the next morning the tissues no longer had the scent of Alizée from the day before. I went to bed, head in the stars, and didn’t fall asleep until much later in the night, after going over the events of the day hundreds of times… and it wasn’t finished!

Part 2:

Filming of the show…

25th of June, 2003, morning: headed to Paris by plane for the filming of the show (the time was so long from April to June!) I knew I was going to see Lili: such happiness… We arrived in Paris around noon, with my mom, my little brother, and my half sister. There, a taxi with a placard bearing my name awaited us to bring us to our hotel! It was located just behind the recording studio where we were going: La Maison de la Radio – door A – studio 102! After we had dropped off our things, we decided to go see a bit of the capital: We had to meet at the studio at 7PM! We first went out on the Champs-Elysées where I found, at Fnac, the Pock-It JEAM as well as the CDM international JEAM/I’M FED UP! Lili Forever!! In short, after we went up the Eiffel Tower, we returned to the hotel. It was 6PM. At that time, there was the daily show “Nice People” at that hour on TF1, presented by Flavie Flamant. I found it very funny because I was seeing her on TV, and in a couple hours I’d be looking her in the face!

7PM arrives, we go to the studio where we are met by Sophie (another woman involved in organizing the surprise with my mom) who led us to the fans’ dressing room. We found ourselves in some kind of little room set up as a dressing room for the occasion, where all the fans and their families who are going to the filming of the show wait (Raphaël for Lara Fabian, and Séphora for Jérem, notably): One corner for wardrobe (we each brought three different outfits, and the stylist told us which went best with the colors of the stage) where we dressed, a makeup corner, and hair corner with a sofa in the middle, and chairs. I went through the wardrobe, the makeup, and the hair, then I wanted to find out who was the fan of who with my mom. In a moment, they brought us plates of food: impossible for me to touch a thing, I’m way too stressed because I’m going to see Alizée (not even because I’m going to be on a television stage!)… Then, Brigitte came to see me to give me the questions that Flavie would ask me on stage, and to encourage me to speak my responses in such a way that I don’t get mixed up when the moment comes! Same for my mom (who is paralyzed with fright at the idea of speaking into a microphone!) and my little brother! Then my half-sister left with the other family members of fans who had to sit in the audience. The show would begin, they’d need to warm up the audience! A short while later, they came and got us: my mom and my little brother were placed on the stage, and the fans, we were placed in a small recess to the side of the stage where they’d put a small television so we could see what was going on on stage! The show begins: I know I’m going up first. Then I turn my head, and what do I see? Alizée, in her blue dress, preparing to enter on to the set: my heart skipped a beat. Then I could see on the little TV the play-back of the surprise. At the moment Alizée enters the store, I broke down in tears…

My makeup was running, they told me not to cry, but it didn’t help. The makeup artists came and fixed me up, and gave me tissues (You now have, henceforward, the explanation of why I was wiping my eyes with tissue the moment when I came on stage!) It was time for me to prepare, and enter the stage! There she is, Alizée waiting for me, I throw myself into her arms so happy to see her again… Then, the part you know! The question sequence (they cut a lot in editing, unfortunately) and Alizée performed J’ai pas Vingt Ans! She glowed like a thousand fires… At the moment where she had to leave the stage, I whispered in her ear “Will you wait for me? I have to stay on the stage until the end!” and she responded to me “Yes, of course!” The broadcast finished taping (around 1AM, even though we had started at 9PM!), Brigitte took us back stage to bring us to the stars’ dressing rooms. They told me that there was a little girl in Alizée’s dressing room, but if I waited a moment, I could go in with my mother (my little brother didn’t dare go in!) “Ah, Jessica!” said Olivier, who was also in the room with Alizée! Also there were Cristelle (Corsalizee) and Julie, another fan who had come with Cristelle and who later became my best friend!! We then dove right in to photos and autographs, Alizée, always with her natural ease, accepted all of this with an incredible kindness! Then, we talked and laughed! It lasted an hour, a magical hour, one more hour… an hour where you’re there, seeing it with your own eyes, and still can’t believe it… Then came the moment where Alizée had to leave (she had a photo shoot the next day!) I hugged her very tight in my arms, and told her to take care of herself… My heart hugged us together as we watched her depart from us down the long corridor to the exit. But I knew I’d see her again, the Olympia would come soon… Then, after Alizée left, I had a little discussion with Jérémy, who signed an autograph for me and took a photo with me! A few minutes later, he left as well… to rejoin Lili, I think (Yes, at that time they were a couple, and nobody knew it!). Then Julie and Cristelle also left, after we exchanged addresses and phone numbers… It was the start of a great friendship between us!

My mom, my brother, my half-sister, and I remained in the room with the whole crew that organized the surprise. We talked, and then we returned to the hotel. I went over, again, those magical moments. It was nearly 3AM, I turned on the TV and went to M6 to watch music videos wait for everybody to get changed. Upon what video do I stumble? J’ai pas vingt ans! A few hours ago I was with her… I don’t believe it… My phone rings: It was her… she wishes me good night and tells me she’s very happy to have seen me… My heart sang… I succeeded in falling asleep, but much later, my mind was still too occupied with what I’d experienced since April 10th, 2003, which had changed my life forever…

Thanks…

There you have it, that which is, for me, the most wonderful time of my life. I’d like to thank the entire crew of Stars à Domicile, especially Brigitte and Sophie. Thank you for choosing me, thank you for bringing my dream to life.

Again, thank you a thousand times to Olivier, for his kindness and availability, thanks for everything, I’ll never forget a thing! Thank you as well to you, little fairy, for everything. I have only one thing to say. I love you…

Finally, I would especially like to thank my mother because without her, the dream would never be realized. Thank you for supporting me, understanding me, and just for being there. You made my dream come true, I will hold that forever. I love you.

That's funny Jessica calling Alizée small? Well, Jessica was rather young back then and still smaller than Alizée as I recall. Ok, I know, must watch all that again soon.

And thanks Scruffydog and edgar for your posts of the lengthy report. :)

We're probably messing up by discussing this now instead of waiting for the chat party but I guess we can just repeat ourselves :)

I believe Jessica was fifteen and Alizée was eighteen (?) at the time. Jessica was/is taller than Alizée. So petite and so beautiful, not that Jessica didn't grow up nicely:wub:

Alizée herself said that at the very beginning of the program  And I don't think Alizée grew up that much after the SAD.

Maybe you can invite Jessica to the live chat. I believe she is a member here. Her screen name is "Alizeeclochette".

That's a very good point. Though I haven't seen her around here in ages, it would probably be nice to drop her a line before we do this.

I've been thinking about that, and have meant to drop her a line through her website...but like I said before, I'm crazy, crazy busy this week dealing with work and some family-related nonsense. (And nonsense it is, trust me.)

I'll see if I can steal a few minutes today on my lunch to contact her--if, um, I get to take a lunch today--but if somebody could also take it upon themselves to invite her, I'd appreciate it greatly.

(EDIT: Managed to steal away for a few minutes during a meeting to "go to the bathroom", kekeke! ;) Message sent!)

Haven't had a chance to read through her review--which was awesome of you guys to post, thank you very much--but I'll make sure to catch up before the chat.

Thanks guys! :D

Thanks alot for posting grains of gold like these, really appreciated by lazy people who haven't read through all the ancient Alizée lore yet (Me that is :p).

I'm going to try my best to come up with insightful stuff for the chat but something tells me this one is going to be tough, competition-wise. You guys seem to struggling holding it all back :D

I got the feeling this one will be totally Roxxor-KrAxx00r-ûber-to-the-loomer awesome!

My anticipations, beyond the tree tops ;)

Well, that's not impossible, there many ways to contact Jessica. But, if we manage to contact her, the main idea should be to invite her to join the chat, right?
Then I believe there is a little difference in time between France and América, maybe we should wait until we get a response , I mean, it would be fantastic to have her presence there, right?
Just an idea.

*EDIT* already sent her a message, though Im not sure if she is gonna read it before saturday .

Well, whether or not one wants to do this commentary or even is interested in Alizée, one should ready that report from Jessica. That was really quite incredible. It seems she was really a very good person to pick. So much love for our Lili. I wish I could have been her friend - Jessica that is, but of course Alizée too. Well, I would have to have been younger, but that's beside the point. And then there's the concert report. I haven't even gotten to that. Man, it makes me think 2003 must have been the best darn year ever. Of course for me, that would be maybe the second half of '07 to first half '08 because that's when I became such a fan of Alizée and had my adventures, though they don't quite compare in Alizée density to Jessica's adventure.

Edit: you know, it's a little late to be bringing this up, less than two days before, but we never really agreed on a source of these shows. I have the Merci Alizée vol. 2 disk 2 which I watch it on. And I have files too. If the edits were a little different we could end up not being in sync. Any opinions? Also, I don't have translation files. Were we supposed to?

Don't wait up for me, I might not be able to make it today.

Ack! I hope you do wind up making it--I still want to hear the story of what you like so much about the 2003 episode! (No worries if you can't, though--real life comes first, of course.)

Sorry that I haven't given everybody their homework assignment for this one--between work, family stuff, and editing together the podcast for the last chat party, it's been a crazy, crazy week. Judging from the last few, though, we ought to have plenty to talk about.

So we're a go for today at 4pm EST/1pm PST! If anybody needs assistance with downloading and setting up Ventrilo, you can find a whole bunch of info in the first post of the En Concert commentary thread, including a tutorial video that walks you through it step by step.

Also, a reminder to everybody courtesy of Jung that the Vent server info has changed:

Remember, if you have any questions, problems or concerns, you can always PM me here, or jump into the chat on the Vent server, and we'll do our best to walk you through it! :D

Oh, and as with all of these chat parties, a few guidelines, if you don't mind:

1) Let's try and keep the language PG, if we could please. 'Damn' and 'crap' are probably alright, but nothing stronger if we can avoid it, OK? No F-bombs, please.

2) Everyone's opinion is valid. It's perfectly OK to disagree and debate--I'm honestly counting on at least a little friendly debate tomorrow--but please remember we're all friends, and this is supposed to be fun.

3) As a follow-up to number 2, please don't slam other people unnecessarily. This is not a vehicle to air your grievances about others. Especially people who aren't participating. Really especially for people who aren't even members of AAm. This applies specifically to people whose names start with 'Ice' and end with 'guru'. I don't even want to hear the name mentioned, please. Thank you.

4) An addendum to number 3, but important enough to warrent its own number: no slamming of the J-man, please. I get that some people don't like him, that's cool, but I think he's an alright bloke...and apparently, so does Lili. Let's keep it light and friendly, OK?

Thanks guys! Can't wait to see everybody there! :D

LOL Yes, that is how it is except that when you are talking with people in a commentary the emotion does not quite come up the same way as when just watching it alone. But yes, this is a funny and accurate description of Alizée's effect. I don't think she really understands that and non fans wouldn't get it, but that's almost like a slogan or something.

Thanks for being there guys. It was fun to meet and talk with you all yet again. I think we just like chating too. Once again we went hours beyond the actual video we were watching.

So, Moscow and try to do some research to have more to discuss. Ok.
And get a microphone!

Sorry for not showing up guys, something else popped-up :o. I usually prefer to stay and home and browse the forums than anything else, but this time I had no option.

And about the next time, wasn't it going to be FunTV interview?

Well, I guess we can take a poll, but I think we were trying to do an old video then a newer video and back. Although, I think we figured on saving Les Enfoirés until March 22 so we could get all 4 of them together, though we'll have to not slack off on preparing for that one since it's a lot of material to go through and organize and some of us might be going to Paris for the concert... So, if anyone really wants to do it differently, speak up.

Otherwise, I guess we could do Fun tv le 5 avril 2 weeks later. hmm. I am impatient for everything so I am not good to decide.

Tomtentp 02-22-2009 11:31 AM

Sorry for the miclessness but I messed up the dates. There were quite a lot of people attending however so the amount of talk were good enough without me :p.

There were a lot of opinions and interesting talk but I found the "Stereotypes of Alizée fans" and "Different kinds of attractiveness" discussions very interesting, something that's very stale and difficult to discuss through a forum.

I think we should consider the possibilities making these chats more free, not bound to a certain video but instead to one or several topics and then just spin-off from there. We do however need the topic and the preparation thing to keep the chat on point and prevent the famous off-topic syndrome which seems to be very contagious around here ;)

However, time is something we got plenty of as a contrast to video material. Maybe we should just exhaust all the videos and then, while waiting for new material to pop up, fill out with topics instead.

Anyway, as for the next topic I vote for the FunTV Interview since it's still uncertain which material from Moscow we should use. I also think people have a lot to say about these videos and just as someone said in the chat, we just watched a similar concert to Moscow and it could be a bit repetitious.

FunTV +1

Meh, then I may HAVE to attend. :p

I really do like the idea of that--doing some that are more of a traditional roundtable podcast--but like I said during the chat, I'm not sure how interesting that would be to listen to for people who weren't participating. (Thinking back on it, though, there were a number of people listening in on the chat who didn't have mics, and you guys seemed pretty into it, judging by your comments in the chatroom...so maybe I'm wrong.)

Tell you what, I'll start up another thread for non-video topic ideas, and we'll go from there.

(Just so everybody's on the same page, the Moscow video we're thinking of using is DJTuvok's fan clip edit.)

That was my concern about doing Moscow so closely on the heels of the T@keo Mexico video, because it's essentially the same concert...but without having watched Moscow yet, from what I've heard there's enough differences to make doing a comparison worthwhile. And like you said in the chat, TP, doing it while T@keo is still fresh in our minds might be more beneficial.

As far as FunTV goes, I'm with Roman in that I'd like to alternate between "classic" Lili and "new" Lili. There's still plenty of "new" material out there--Les Enfoires 2008 & 2009, the Moscow bootleg, the Method Cauet interview, potentially a bootleg from the Grand Rex in March (fingers crossed!)--so I'd like to alternate for as long as we can manage.

Thanks again to everybody who came out, even those of you without mics who just showed up to listen and hang out. It was a lot of fun!

EDIT: I was just about to start a thread announcing the next chat party, but it occurred to me that we should probably wait until we agree on what we're actually going to be watching for the thing! Please let me know what you'd like to do below!

Roman 02-26-2009 12:58 AM

Well, I still sort of feel like, if we're going to ever do the Moscow concert, maybe we should just get it out of the way, or say forget it until there's nothing else left. Alizée will have a concert in March and be in Mexico in the middle of April. We pray that some good stuff comes from these.
Anyway, whatever we decide, especially if it's something where people are talking, we need to agree on a file with subtitles so that we can be in sync. Luckily, that seemed to work out last time anyway, but it's better to be prepared.

Edit:
Well, I've not even quite gotten half way through the Tuvok video, but it mostly looks pretty good. I was a bit afraid that too much was dubbed over with the album, but that's mostly at the beginning (so far) and because they didn't have full recordings.
Still, so far I don't have much directly to say about the concert, though I suppose I could say enough about stuff in general. But maybe one could think of some things with some questions, such as...

* favorite moment
* how does the music compare to Mexico?
* how does her singing compare to Mexico?
* how does the stage and the rest of her performance compare to Mexico?
* any interesting factoids about her history in Russia, her musicians, background on arlequins, where she might have gotten any of her ideas? Faced with thinking about answering these questions, I find myself wishing she had published something about all of this stuff, at least the names of the other performers and if they have web sites or anything. We know about DJ Karve.
* Any songs she should not have sung here or should have or you hope she will in Paris?
* Are there other performers who are similar in style, particularly performance style, to Alizée?
* Comments about the organization/timing/promotion of this concert?
* What would you like to have seen Alizée do differently?
* What did she do here that you wish she had done in Mexico or would do at some other time?

Is anyone preparing for a FunTV commentary or just planning to wing it either way or ??

Ruroshen 03-01-2009 02:26 AM

Ugh, I haven't even looked at the Moscow concert yet. I'm still hip-deep in editing the T@keo track--cleaning up both recordings, then stitching them together into some kind of Frankenstein commentary track that flows OK but still syncs up with the video has just about killed me. I think it'll turn out OK, but I'll be glad to have it done and behind me. :p

Alright, back to work...

Actually, my days off this month have unexpectedly been switched on me...so I'm now off this Sunday (March 8) instead of next. I know it's probably too short notice for everyone to prepare for a commentary track, so I was thinking we could try the first of the non-commentary recordings instead.

I'm thinking for the first one, we could do 'Pourquoi Alizée?'

Let me know if you guys are up for it, and I'll throw up a thread for it, and put it on the calendar.
