French flag change

For all those who hold some interest in flags, it appears that France has, or is in the transition of, changing their flag. :france:

Only a small change, it appears the blue part of the tricolour has been turned into a darker navy blue as opposed to the existing lighter shade of the colour. The navy blue means the flag would basically be returning to what it was prior to 1976.

Apparently the change has already been seen on the French flags hanging above several government buildings.

Personally I think I slightly prefer this navy blue, each version has it's ups and downs but the navy blue is just a little bit better overall (in my opinion).

Thoughts?

Cool! I love a nice flag. It looks like Macron took the decision last year, in order to reconnect with a revolutionary symbol. Which country has your favourite flag?

I very much like the change. For one thing, I think it shows more of a military view of the country. I say this because France has a proud military history, and this color is used on many navy planes, including the Alizé.

The Bréguet Br.1050 Alizé (which translates as "Tradewind") is a French carrier-based anti-submarine warfare aircraft.

Not sure I have a number 1 favourite national flag but the ones below would all be in the conversation.

The UK's Union Jack. The pattern is so simple but still relatively unique to this flag.

Greece. Not sure why but it just works for me.

South Africa. The huge number of colours is fantastic and instantly recognisable.

Japan. Absolutely fantastic but even still I actually prefer the Rising Sun flag associated with Japan's military and navy (separating the history behind it from just the design), seen below. Truly brilliant and striking design.

The English county of Surrey has a very good flag as well.

Maryland might be my favourite of any flag ever though. By a long way the best of all the US state flags in my opinion.

Personally, this thread reminds me of a comedy show I like, Big Bang Theory. :p
